Hey guys! So I was wondering if anyone out there knows if a virtual mixamp provides less quality to a hardware mixamp? For exmaple, I'm using Voicemeeter Banana to mix my optical output to my Astro Pro Mixamp and my VOIP output (3.5mm headphone jack straight into the 3.5mm microphone jack) So currently I have my Blue Yeti to record my voice, the 3.5mm headphone/mic to record Voip, then mix both of these audio streams together using the virtual mixamp. This allows me to record VOIP, My mic and game streams separately. So my question is, does using Voicemeeter instead of an actual mixamp afffect the quality of audio stream quality? Or would I just be better off getting a hardware mixamp? Thanks in advance!

I need to know what is the best Free VPN software out on the interwebs. My mom likes to block YouTube and Skype some times using the internet routers admin page. I would just reset the router and change the password but then she might just change the network password and disable my phone so using a VPN sounds like the best option to me, unless you know a better way. Thanks

Hey guys, On and off for a lot of the summer, I have tried to dual boot yosemite alongside windows on my laptop, so I could use osx for youtube and stuff, and windows for more intensive things, however I have been unsuccessful thus far due to a number of reasons... This lead me to the idea of running osx on a virtual machine. My question is what would be the best program to use for the task, and weather it would be a viable option to use osx on a vm as a "daily" (as in how much would battery life suffer, would it be laggy/ slow?) I have used yosemite on vmware before, however it was pretty sluggish, and animations were not the smoothest. is that specific to vmware, or does no virtualization software give a smooth experience?

So I am a bit stuck with choosing a graphics card for my next build in part that I would like to purchase a VR headset to support its development when they release next year, however I am stuck between the Fury x and 980ti, but not because of performance, but what I would like to know is how the features stack up against each other. I know Nvidia has been working on its multi-res shading and asynchronous time warp, and how AMD has it's liquid VR developments, but how do they actually translate into an enjoyable VR experience and which card is worth my $650?

Apperantly, Microsoft is working on a Virtual Reality HMD called Project Irides. Irides uses the Kahawai technology which offloads some of the GPU rendering to the cloud and then streams it back to the headset with higher quality graphics. They have tested this technological concept with Doom 3 as their testing workload due to its fast game play and according to Microsoft, the participants loved it and said that it was impressive and there was a noticeable difference in the quality, latency and overall experience. Looking at how everyone is impressed with the Hololens, I am pretty sure Microsoft is going to integrate this Kahawai tech and make a super awesome Augmented/Virtual Reality HMD. What do you guys think? Project Irides is a software project btw. So, I've had an ASUS Xonar Essence STX for several years now and I've absolutely loved it but I've wanted to upgrade to an external DAC for a while; Just to take that extra step to cut out noise and interference from the rest of the components in my PC. As it happened, circumstances forced my hand to do that a little sooner than I had wanted due to a bad PCI Express slot. So the Xonar card will be going to my boyfriend and I've ordered an Objective 2 from Mayflower Electronics and it's on it's way as we speak. The model I got has the DAC and Amp built into the same case and even has RCA jacks that double as in and out and the power in the rear. It has everything I could ask for... except I prefer equalizing. I love the virtual equalizer that comes with ASUS's higher end sound cards and it's the one thing that was really keeping me from moving on. I've been looking for a virtual, stand alone equalizer for years that would let me equalize any DAC or sound card I want but have been unsuccessful and because the DAC and amp are built together in the Objective 2 that means I can't put a physical equalizer between them. Do I have any options? Does anyone know of a virtual equalizer out there or maybe a physical one that will except an amplified input? I've been afraid to ask because I really would like to avoid an argument about equalizing vs. not. I'm not interested in having that conversation yet it tends to pop up anywhere the word “equalizer” is uttered. So can we please not go down that road.

VR specific Android? Say it ain't so, but it seems like its going to be a thing. While I don't particularly agree with the idea that we're going to have yet another version of Android that Google won't maintain beyond giving it out to OEMs, i do think its a good idea that Google look at Androids usability as it stands and see if they can improve the VR experience of the OS. http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/03/07/report-google-has-assigned-engineers-to-build-a-version-of-android-just-for-virtual-reality/

For anyone who has experienced a Atmos system in a theatre or even at home, you'll know that it does leverage your extra speakers better and it can sound better than your traditional 5.1/7/1 setup, you just need the tech to support it. Dolby going for VR is great news, immersive video is NOTHING without the sound to back up that experience, and Dolby tends to not get lazy on the sound aspect of things. http://www.engadget.com/2015/03/01/dolby-atmos-comes-to-vr/

So i have some ram issues and looking trough everything and came across Virtual memory. now my qeustion: What is it? does it matter if i lower it or increase the amount? i have the option to assign a min and max size to it but does it matter? is it better to turn it off? ( no paging file)? I use windows 8.1 on a laptop with 4gb ram ( 3.9gb to be exact). My goal is to increase performance in games since i had some ram trouble and my games / internet kinda froze or had 0,01 fps. Thanks for helping out:)

So I recently installed Ubuntu on a VM on my computer. I've noticed though that it's a bit laggy/input delay? when using it. I'm just wondering if this is normal or not. I'm not sure what information to provide so if there are bits of info you need, ask away. What I do know: Read/write speed on the HDD is utter rubbish (I checked resources on task manager on the host computer). I don't know if this is responsible for lag in the UI though, or why the figures are so bad since I don't think the hard drive is that terrible. On that note I've allocated 2GBs of RAM for the VM. The recommended min on their website is 0.5GB so I figure this should be plenty.

Taking handsfree device to a whole new level @OriginalPromise EYECAN+, Samsungs latest innovative project looks very promising, EyeCan+ is the Samsungs Own second-generation eye mouse, The product is mainly aimed at allowing people with disabilities Giving them the ability to compose and edit documents as well as browse the web through simple eye movement Samsung is not the first company to introduce this technology, if you're interested check this previous news thread post from me : (damn search function! will add in later when i find it) What makes this device different is that it does not require users to wear any device, such as glasses. Instead, EYECAN+ is a single-unit, portable box that sits below the monitor, and works by wirelessly calibrating with the user's eye. Samsung previously did a similar project on eye movement co-ordinated mice control but that was done via a secondary device which user had to wear such as a plain glass fitted with the capture equipment early prototype back in 2012 with glasses Back to the EyeCan product , because i can (ba dum tiss) Once calibrated, the EYECAN+ user interface will appear as a pop-up menu in one of two different modes, rectangular menu board or floating menu wheel, both of which contain 18 different commands. Both menu types can be configured to remain at the fore of the screen. The use of all 18 commands solely requires eye movement and blinking, and each command can be selected by looking directly at the relevant icon and blinking once. EYECAN+ can remember each user’s eye characteristics.Calibration is only required for first-time users so it's as simple as that , Users can also adjust the sensitivity of EYECAN+ for both calibration and actual use. it requires the user to be situated between 60cm and 70cm from the monitor, and does not require the user to be in any specific position, Pretty solid technology & can be useful for day to day usage, but currently they have developed this tech for only charitable agencies,it's not available outside of that. Rumor is that Samsung will also create open-source documents for the design and software, letting any individual or company commercialize it. That's a good sign Please do post your review on this thread down belooooooooow, also tell me what you think about this .. Bonus: Original Source: http://global.samsungtomorrow.com/?p=44971

So I have these parts just sitting in an old PC that nobody uses. I also have a GT 440 lying around somewhere that I can throw in. My question is: should I turn this into a virtual machine server? If so, what else would I have to buy to achieve that? If not, what are some cool uses for an HTPC?

I was planning on trying windows 10 (32 bit) on a WM, the WM I wanted to use is Oracle VirtualBox, the Issue I am having is the whenever I try to launch the WM even to just to try and get to installing an OS it will open the WM window, and a second window that says "Initializing processes for Virtual Machine 1/2" This however never gets above 0%, also the WM window doesn't respond to any input, I have to close it through task manager. Additional Information: Host OS Windows 7 hope premium SP1 Host computer (in sig) Allocated virtual disk size = 20GB WM motherboard settings. Acceleration settings If you think more info is required just ask. I just want to know if I need to change some settings for it to work, for some reason the Wm is behaving completely differently as opposed to the inferior PC is used at school. I am trying to get the WM to work of my D drive (C has no space for it) Could this cause an issue? Or do I just have the wrong chip-set selected.

THE LINKS IN THIS POST ARE NOT SAFE FOR WORK OR FOR PEOPLE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 Ohh Japan, you so crazy. The upcoming game "Custom Maid 3D" will not only feature the "Ju-C AIR" controller, which allows you to control the game with your penis, but they have also announced support for the Oculus Rift! The Oculus Rift will be used for 3D, and the Ju-C AIR will be used to control your avatar in the game. The game is already in beta and it will be officially released the 22th February 2014 and it will cost 13,440 yet (144 USD), and that price includes the, special remote. That plus the Oculus Rift only ends up being about 450 US dollars, which is still far less than a real girlfriend would cost, so you not only get customizability but you also save quite a bit of money in the long run. If they combined this with the technology from Tech Arts 3D, we might even get competitive multiplayer! The whole package: The Ju-C Air. The joystick on the top is used for controlling the camera, or your avatar or whatever. The inside will detect trusts: A kind of safe for work gameplay video with it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ic6k-s3xyv8 Seriously though, it was only a matter of time before this happened. I am not sure if it's pathetic or brilliant. Maybe a bit of both.

Hi all, I have recently been looking for 3dvce but it seems to have been lost/discontinued. you can no longer find the website on google and all links that lead to it come up with a server that is not hosting the site anymore. I have come to a conclusion that It has been lost or discontinued so I am hoping that someone might still have a copy that we can spread to bring it back into the internet community here is a video of this very cool software in action: This was a great program and should continue to live through the internet as much as possible. Basically I am asking if we can set up something to host an unofficial version of this program if someone still has it and maybe even continue updating it

What VPN do you use? Just did a search on google and it was pretty ambiguous. I need someone here who has or is using one and an actual preference. (Just realized this is in the wrong section. Can someone move it to networking for me, please?)

Hi. The guys from the Node youtube channel have started a very interesting kickstarter project. Link to project: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/controlvr/control-vr-motion-capture-for-vr-animation-and-mor In their latest youtube video, they are already using this working setup to play multiplayer games together. Have a look: It looks really awesome in my opinion.

So guys, I have two Virtual Machines and four Ethernet Ports (two separate NICs). I want one VM to have access to one bridge of two of the ethernet ports, and the other VM to have access to another bridge of the other two ethernet ports. My question is: Is it better to bridge them in the Host OS, or in the VM? The reason I ask is because in the Host OS, you can only create one bridge AFAIK (this is in Windows 2008 R2 Server). I tried making two, it wouldn't let me. My idea was to create 4 Virtual Networks in HyperV, and give 2 to each Virtual Machine, then bridge them in the Virtual Machine's OS. Is there a negative to this? Good/bad idea? Or is this just how it's usually done? Note that there will also be an internal Virtual Network between the two VM's so they can communicate without going through switches or the NICs. They'll be doing that a lot, so yeah.

What do you think about the Oculus Rift?, Looking foward to it? maybe not so much? Pros? Cons? Lets talk about them! (My personal opinion is that the Oculus Rift is going to change the way we game, maybe not immediately, but in a few years. Its looks really cool to me. At this point in time, I dont think I would want to use it for every game, and It will be a big change ill have to get use to.)

Hi guys, I am running Windows 8 with the only mod being Classic Shell to make it more like Windows 7 (and every other Windows version). Every time I try to install DirectX for games, such as when I first run games that I have on Steam, it just hangs. Nothing happens. I have to force end the task in Task Manager. Then it will not run again until a large amount of time (hours) has passed, or I restart the computer. And even then, it will not work. I do not know if it is related, but I attempted to install Oracle's Virtual Machine software and it did the exact same thing. However, the DirectX problem has been something going on for a few days. It first started when I tried to install a game when I was disconnected from the internet. I figured that was the problem, but now, I am not sure. I tried running the DirectX setup for a game from inside the folder rather than letting Steam do it. Same results (and problems). Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Vitalius
