Well, damn another reason why I will never leave the house ever again in the near future.(not american, but filipinos are crazy for basketball so we will catch on to this very quick) Another key term would be "courtside experience", which means two things you will never have to leave your home to enjoy the game courtside but also enjoy the broadcaster's comments and analysis of the game. The downside would be it will probably burn a hole through your pocket.(not confirmed) But as a basis; courtside tickets can now reach up to $50,000. That's 10 monster gaming machines right there. ofc it's still new and has constraints so yeah only gear VR owners can experience this. Complete details to access the experience are available at www.nextvr.com/nba-tnt so if anybody is going to try this, please do tell. and later-on share the experience with us and I'll add it here. so they already did some experiments to test it out but we will still likely see problems. I can definitely see this technology growing more specially since the investments keep on coming. This will also fit-in with the current trend of "Technologies that will make you never leave the house again." P.S. This is my first news post so please be gentle I will try and post sports-technology news on here as much as I can seeing as there's a lack of it. I don't know if this is the right place to leave this link, http://www.dorcel.com/VR/?lang=en Well I don't know if you guys traced back in history about how the technology is going but, Adult industry has always been the frontier for technology of future. Since they have tons of money and what not. Well now they support VR with 360 degree visual and audio that changes as you are looking in different locations. If you think that video gaming industry has become something important because it passed Hollywood and left it biting the dust (Kappa), think again. There is still another industry/field that is still bigger and can be connected to movies more easily since it's the same format that leaves gaming industry not just to bit the dust, but to collect that dust from air and make sure it's no where to be-found (basically ?light years? away) is Adult industry. And they have done what most of the companies are still working on in gaming industry, I mean I haven't seen a game demo that works and is capable of this. Compatible VR's are Samsung, VR Cardboard, Oculust Rift, Homide VR. All that's been said I don't have any kind of VR equipment so I couldn't test their demo. But I'm pretty Sure Luke or someone else who has VR can test it. Adult movies in 4K 60 fps has been around since 4K monitors poped up, or in other words the first 4K 60 fps recording cameras were adopted for those purposes. And they are adopting VR technology now, Could this mean VR in 4K in near future? Since Adult video industry is leading and almost deciding what kind of technology we are using in this day, can they bring 60 FPS 4K VR in reality and make it happen in what we all love most, video games? I guess we have to wait and find out! Be ready for the evolution GPU companies! Cause your cards are not even close to do all this work yet! (Not without terrible motion sickness caused by latency anyway)

Hello all! I am making a virtual reality, thing, and I don't know what software to use to track my full body movement. I have a xbox 360 kinect sensor with an adapter so it works with my computer. I haven't really gotten any further then that. What software could I use? How would I use that software? Will I be able to turn real world movement into keystrokes? Thanks a bunch!

If you haven't seen Li-Fi there is a video explain it here but the basic idea is instead of radio waves you use light waves to transfer data. It has been claimed to work 100x faster then wifi with less delay. How well could this work in VR so that you don't need annoying cords behind you or delay on the screen. we are always blinking fast light at some headsets to gain there spacial position why not just in addition send data thought the stream ? Anyway just a thought and this is my first post so sorry if I did something wrong or this is complacently not the correct place to talk about stuff like this and hi !

Source It's great to see that Flickr is trying something, with it being VR can be a nice unnecessary feature as of current. It is interesting to see where this goes as Flickr is attempting to have a dedicated Explore section on panoramic 360 degree photos.

I couldn't seem to find a thread on this anywhere on here. This might be due to the fact that the VR market seems to be getting saturated, what with Oculus, Sony and Samsung, and/or that the VR hype is cooling down, I don't know. FOVE has a feature which I haven't seen in any of the other products, which is eye tracking. For those unfamiliar with eye tracking, it's basically a method of measuring where the human eye is looking, using infrared beams. It is already being used in a number of applications, such as market research and the like. This adds another interesting dimension to VR, which I think makes FOVE stand out (at the moment). Besides numerous gaming applications (the most obvious one being aiming), it can be used for a number of other things as well, such as acting as an interface for people with limited mobility. There is for example a video of a child playing the piano, controlling it with his eyes (https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=111&v=--WyN7wJ5bI). (SMI (SensoMotoric Instruments) does have an eye tracking upgrade for the Oculus (http://www.smivision.com/en/gaze-and-eye-tracking-systems/products/eye-tracking-hmd-upgrade.html) but it reportedly costs 14,850$ according to gizmag.com ( http://www.gizmag.com/eye-tracking-oculus-rift/34878/), which hardly makes it affordable...) Pitch blurb from the kickstarter page: It will offer: ...and will be: It looks like something pulled straight off the head of a storm trooper: Some tech specs: Low persistence 5,8 inch screen, with a resolution of 2560x1440 and an FOV of 100+ and 60 fps (90 projected). Infrared eye tracking with a <0.2 degree accuracy. USB 3, DP and 3.5mm headphone jack. As of the writing of this, they have already raised 438,000$ (goal being 250,000) with 18 days to go (!), campaign ending July 4th. Shipping of developer kits is planned for spring 2016. Cheapest pledge is 349$, which should give you some (vague) idea of what the end product will cost when launched. TechCrunch: Gizmag: Kickstarter page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fove/fove-the-worlds-first-eye-tracking-virtual-reality TechCrunch article with an interview with CEO Yuka Kojima and CTO Lochlainn Wilson and a short Q&A: http://techcrunch.com/2014/09/09/fove/ IGN did a hands-on pretty recently which can be found here: http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/05/20/hands-on-with-foves-eye-tracking-virtual-reality-headset I bet this thread will drown among all the E3 news, but what the hell. (If my forum search was inadequate and there already is a thread on this, my apologies.)

My Zotac GTX670 AMP Extreme is starting to show its age a little (witcher 3 on 1080p wont run decent above medium settings), so ive been thinking about upgrading to a new 980Ti. Though im a little worried its still too early to build a decent machine for the upcoming VR experience. Technically a VR headset (oculus or vive, same specs more or less) are only about 2.6K and 90Hz., so it shouldnt really need that much grunt to get maxed out. Would it be a good idea to pick up one card now, say the gigabyte 980ti G1, and once the VR headsets come along, pick up a second one? (DX12 compatible, SLI scaling should be better) Or would it be smarter to wait for the Pascal cards to show up? Watercooling is definitely an option. And depending on this decision, I will spend $4k on a monster PC now, or later. Any advice is definitely appreciated.

VR is one step closer to becoming a reality for everyone with the opening of a new VR experience in Melbourne Australia. Gizmodo Article - This is Zero Latency Zero Latency Website Promo Video The system allows for 2 to 6 players to experience a fully co-op zombie-shooting campaign. Players are connected to a backpack PC which wirelessly communicates back to a central game server. Allowing all players to be walking around in 450 square meters of space. Outside of the Vive I have not seen anything like this, and the Vive is currently limited in tracking only a small room. Even VArcade appears to be limited to room-scale tracking at this stage. But full disclosure here as I do work for Zero Latency, the company behind this system. That being said this is extremely exciting for us to open up to the Public, and see what the reactions are from the tech community in general. Reaction to the VR Experience The Hardware

Apperantly, Microsoft is working on a Virtual Reality HMD called Project Irides. Irides uses the Kahawai technology which offloads some of the GPU rendering to the cloud and then streams it back to the headset with higher quality graphics. They have tested this technological concept with Doom 3 as their testing workload due to its fast game play and according to Microsoft, the participants loved it and said that it was impressive and there was a noticeable difference in the quality, latency and overall experience. Looking at how everyone is impressed with the Hololens, I am pretty sure Microsoft is going to integrate this Kahawai tech and make a super awesome Augmented/Virtual Reality HMD. What do you guys think? Project Irides is a software project btw. Thanks @AlexGoesHigh Article Source: http://www.neowin.net/news/irides-microsofts-project-to-create-a-better-virtual-reality-headset More info on Kahawai: http://www.neowin.net/news/microsofts-kahawai-is-a-step-forward-for-cloud-based-game-streaming

I just saw this video from Tested on the Avegant Glyph virtual reality headset and came away from it thinking "what the f are they up to?" (Also sorry for the sensationalist title.) In short, its a VR headset unlike most others in 2 main respects:Firstly, the tech looks awesome, instead of an LCD screen, it uses a single LED and a micro mirror array to manipulate the light and direct it directly into your eye to create the image. Its supposed to me more comfortable to view and you don't get the black grid ("screen door effect") that is a byproduct of the sub-pixel arrangement in LCD displays. Secondly, the intent looks, for lack of a better word, dumb. Unlike OR and other VR sets like project Morpheus, its not intended for gaming, at least not PC gaming. The guy in the interview said its intended for consuming media, for plane or long train journeys I can see this making sense, though there are already a bunch of devices out there that have been doing this for years. However he kept bringing up mobile gaming and this is where I disagree. Mobile gaming is making headlines as being the biggest genre of games by far and predicted to overtake the financial value of consoles this year. And when companies see that, its understandable that they want a piece of the pie (and at $34 billion in 2013 alone, that's a big pie!). But has their marketing department though this through for a second. Per capita mobile games are worth less than console or pc games, after all there is only so much you can persuade people to pay for the next angry birds, or get them to repeatedly make small micro-transactions to keep crushing candy. But because SO MANY people play, they can earn a lot of money. Lots play because its convenient and cheap, at least as long as you don't fall into a micro-transaction trap. What part of that demographic could they persuade to pay out $500 IN ONE GO so they can look like cyclops on while playing candy crush, even a racing game on their coffee break? 0.001%? And even then I doubt it will be the primary purpose of the device. And as Oculus found out, the head-tracking they were talking about implementing will likely make their users feel sick and what phone will be able to render at a high enough frame rate for a good VR experience either? It just seems like a waste of some really interesting technology. PC gaming or productivity would be great on this thing, and I'll be following its progress, hoping they will do a PC version. Just give it much (2-3x) more than the current 45 degree FoV, loose the headphones (at least on 1 version), accurate head tracking and low latency and they will have an OR killer! I'm curious. What do you think? Are you a big mobile gamer and does this appeal to you? Is there actually a market for this as is? Or like me do you wish for a PC version?

First time posting! Hope I'm in the right place So I saw this today and thought it was pretty cool stuff! In short, Live2D Euclid allows you to view 2D illustrations in a 3D environment. It currently runs on the Unity Engine with plans to eventually use the Unreal Engine. Live2D Euclid is also compatible with the Oculus Rift for an even more immersive experience. It will also allow artist to render their 2D drawings into model without ever making a model. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrLnF7CQ8Ac Links - Youtube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SMDLnC-cMU Official Website - http://www.live2d.com/en/ Article - http://www.diginfo.tv/v/14-0062-en.php

It uses a middle-ware texture streaming technology available as a plugin for Unreal Engine 4, called Granite SDK (Developed by company Graphine http://graphinesoftware.com) and it allows developers to use gigabytes of texture data in real-time scenes. This not only helps pushing the quality of games toward CG fidelity levels, but it also makes the opposite possible: using assets generated for CG productions in real-time environments. It will be very interesting to see this technology being implemented in actual games, this is just another feature that adds on to the vast technological arsenal at UE4's disposal. Since the engine has now become completely free, we might start seeing some interesting projects very soon. The demo will be available for download in the near future. HTC and Valve have just shown off the HTC Vive at MWC 2015 The HTC Vive in partnership with Valve So what's the big news? Valve partnership (not facebook!) Working with partners which can use VR where it matters (gaming, tv, education etc) 90HZ refresh rate High audio fidelity Extremely light Full motion tracking Hand tracking (want more info on this!) Wireless controllers And straight out with a release date! End of year 2015 (will probably be out way before Oculus rift) In comparison from the Oculus Rift: Greatly increased speed of software and hardware development No long drawn out drip fed developer kits with what I consider pathetic technical enhancements a 5 year old could have made a decision to include (see DK1, DK2, DK3, Crystal cove etc DK1 should have been Crystal Cove) No making or bragging about simplistic technical enhancements and treat it like man just landed on the moon for the first time Not hiding the fact that they used mobile screens which they knew wouldn't be used in the release version to make a bit more cash on another developer kit version (should have just said here is the samsung gear prototype) Who really cares that they have M Karmak as a developer, his time went many years ago No stabbing the community in the back A lot more information is required but I may have a new VR headset I can support, other than Oculus (for some reason I just don't like seeing those guys constantly doing their PR bull) and Morpheous which I don't hold much hope for as I am not a console gamer. "Apple is seeking a Senior Display Systems Engineer for “display systems design and development related to VR environments.” More specifically, Apple is looking for someone experienced in monitor and projection technologies to help it with “extremely high fidelity VR environments.” From the job listing: -Specify and test novel display systems for virtual environments. -Work with vendors to develop custom display solutions. -Design and select appropriate hardware and software components to optimize fidelity in a variety of VR environments -Develop software to support displaying rendered image sequences on the display hardware. -Work closely with software, electrical and mechanical engineers during testing and integration. A second job listing posted by Apple this week is seeking a Senior Display Software Engineer to support graphics software engineering efforts for VR environments. The engineer will “own the display pipeline from rendered image sequences to display hardware.” The job listing also mentions “Experience with motion capture systems,” which immediately makes us think of the acquisition of PrimeSense Apple made back in 2013, the company originally behind the sensor’s used in Microsoft’s Kinect." Do you even rift bro? Oculus VR CEO Brendan Iribe said at a conference in Ireland today that the current developer model, code-named Crescent Bay, is "largely finalized for a consumer product." Brendan Iribe (Oculus CEO) Iribe says the company has changed significantly since it was acquired by Facebook in March. Operating as an independent subsidiary, Oculus has grown from 75 people to over 200 employees and now operates a separate R&D division. Alright , Here's the kicker to this, When he said months , he meant technically, 23 months , By that it would qualify as "many months" but "not years." <_< technically it's 2 years The big challenge remains developing an effective input device. Iribe says keyboards, mice and gamepads aren’t up to the job and neither is gesture-control at this point When on the interview where he was asked about the threat of rival VR products, Iribe said his main concern is choppy implementation of the VR technology So when asked that when would Oculus felt that it would be ready to launch to consumers? ibre responded “We’ve gone out there and set this bar,We want to get it right,We don’t want it to be four or five years. We’re eager for this to happen.” pretty good news update imo, What do you think? Leave your comments rants & Thoughts down belowwwwwwww.. After the Traumatic Full Body Mouse Chair Post..Introducing... cort: Minority report, paramount Exoskeleton for virtual 3D gesture controls Atleast this ones less weirder & has quite a good potential on the market plus it looks kinda awesome.. B) Dexta Robotics , A Chinese company that introduced a wearable mechanical exoskeleton that captures your hand motion as well as providing you with force feedback It Literally breaks the barrier between the digital and real world and gives you a sense of touch. or atleast try to give you one Currently they introduced two product lines Dexmo Classic Dexmo F2 The Exoskelton can be used for Device Control, Robotic manipulation,VR Operation System Control ,Animation With Detailed Finger Movement,Virtual drawing space,Alternative input device,Full VR immersive experience,Medical Rehabilitation So what's so special about this? For VR, it serves as a way to interact with the digital world within systems like the Oculus Rift. The Classic version of Dexta captures 11 degrees of freedom for you hand motion. Three degrees of freedom of motion for the thumb, and both the split and bending of the rest four fingers. These data along with the forward and inverse kinematics algorithms built in SDK can provide developers an accurate hand model skeleton, especially for the thumb part. It can input your detailed hand gesture in to VR instantly. Meanwhile the Dexmo F2 has the same functionality that Dexmo Classic does, on top of that it provides you with digital force feedback(on and off only). On the thumb and the index finger exoskeleton there are two additional piece of hardware called the force feedback unit, which is essentially a miniaturized gear disk braking system. When the avatar you are controlling hits a digital object, a signal is sent back via the SDK to Dexmo F2 and the small actuators actuates, brakes the joint and locks the exoskeleton. Few colorful products shown below.. Instead of creating a virtual glove as other companies they mainly focused on the functionality of the product, Although a gloved version is available too.. in addition, it can be used for fun stuff like control remote-controlled cars and smart lighting, Create music The device is currently under Crowd funding via Kickstarter & is currently trying to raise $200,000 if you guys want to help them give your contribution to this link ..(safe direct link):https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1277630932/dexmo-an-exoskeleton-for-you-to-touch-the-digital You can get one for as low as $65 if you decide to fund this (by May 2015), Also here are some Pros & Cons : Pros works near electromagnetic field has real force feedback precise affordable (200$) also they say 'stylish' , but meh Cons: slightly bigger compared to similar solutions like cyber glove,Leap motion etc no precise finger tip 3d-coordinate Needs to be calibrated one time Compared to other VR solutions that cost 500-5000 dollars & hassled setup process This one's rather cool imo.. & Last but not least...Here are the official Video Demo's : So what do you guys think? pretty cool cost effective consumer product imo, Post your thoughts & rants & troll comments belowww.... Bonus..

it's Titanic all over again.. Abandon Ship..... During an interview at the WSJD (Wall Street Journal conference panel) Live conference, Cameron expressed that he isn't really impressed by the current stage of VR technology , when the topic of virtual reality was brought up to him by While shepherding the Avatar sequels preoccupies much of the director's time, he was also asked several questions by Journalist about his involvement in virtual reality projects. Cameron didn't appear impressed with recent hype spurred by Oculus Rift, the virtual reality startup that made headlines in March when Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg announced that his company would acquire the brand for $2 billion. Christopher Nolan might disagree.. As there are current projects that are promoting the film Interstellar (release set for nov 7) via occulus rift all over US right now as you reading this.. Interstellar Movie Experience in Oculus Rift VR exhibit Cameron did say devices such as the Oculus Rift could, eventually, change the way people watch movies, but that the right formula just isn't there yet. Avatar 2 is expected to drop December 2016, followed by Avatar 3 in December 2017 and Avatar 4 in 2018 So what do you guys think? Now that's one way to promote a movie.. B) if you live in L.A , New York, Houston or on Washington D.C. area ,Brace yourself , you might be lucky enough to experience the upcoming movie in fully immersive experience Oculus 3D, The Oculus Rift experience allows participants to don high-tech headsets to feel as if they are traveling, even floating in zero gravity through the Endurance spacecraft from the film. The Film Director Christopher Nolan donned the virtual headset himself. The Experience , Well not the actually movie, atleast part of the movie, This is the first time the Virtual reality system is being staged for a movie promotion on this scale, The Ocuolus VR team along with Christopher nolan came up with this idea of promoting the movie & expanding the possibilities for the virtual reality system, The project required a team of 15-20 people over the span of two months to painstakingly re-create the world and "the exact ship" from the movie.the experience is that you get to travel within the confinement of the ships interior & also a ZeroG experience out into space & through the wormhole, The virtual Oculus Rift world was revealed on Monday in NYC and will travel throughout the country ahead of the film's opening Nov. 7.

Want oculus Rift but doesn't like the numerous cables around it? What if your phone could turn itself into the Oculus Rift? Well, i shall present you.... The vrAse is a product that is on kickstarter and uses the same logic as the Oculus rift but the difference is that... it's modular! If you have an iPhone 5 or a Note 2 it doesn't care! you can use any without effort to get the exact model you need! And if you change your phone, you only need to change the Mounting mechanism (Wich by the way is very easy to change) , because the base is modular and fully adjustable -even the lens for each eye- to meet the person angle and measures. The vrAse already Supports the following devices: - Samsung Galaxy Note 2 - Samsung Galaxy S4 - Samsung Galaxy S3 - Sony Xperia Z - HTC One - iPhone 5 In my opinion things will be interesting in Augmented Reality and also through Real Time Images Streaming (like in the Nvidia's Shield). Another cool thing is, you can turn that old Smartphone into a dedicated VR machine! Imagine all the possibilities! Here's the link for the Kickstarter with a lot more of information about it: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2041280918/vrase-the-smartphone-virtual-reality-case I particularly can't wait to use one to play AirSoft with augmented reality! I can already imagine something such as an Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon in true FPS!

In an interview with Eurogamer at GameCom, Oculus founder Palmer Luckey revealed that Android is in the company's future plans. Although this may not be their next platform , he states that their developers ahve been working with Android for a while and it's the only mobile platform they're interested in. With mobile graphics improving as fast as it is, it may not be too long until they'll be powerful enough to offer a good experience on Oculus. Interestingly enough, Luckey has expressed his interest in Android and yet they seem to have no interest in next gen consoles. This is possibly due to restrictions by Microsoft and Sony imposed on 3rd party devices which require the companies involved to work closely with Microsoft and Sony. On the other hand, Android's open nature grants them easier access to the platform. Source: http://www.androidauthority.com/oculus-rift-android-258414/ Linus' future of consoles is seeming more and more realistic...

(Didn't find a thread about this, sorry if it's a repost) Basically, it's like an Omni. However it looks pretty awesome to me. Unlike the Omni, you can jump and crouch with the virtualizer which for me was crazy I don't know about the platform though, it's basically a low friction pad that you stand on; I like the one on the omni better, however you don't seem to need any special shoes for this one, anyways take a look for yourselves. http://www.cyberith.com/index.php?menu=virtualizer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0E6O_OUW8Xg
