Thank you in advance for all of your help! Budget: Around $1000 United States Currency Aim: Virtual Reality Gaming. Most likely on the HTC Vive. Also other games such as Kerbal space program and total war. Monitors: A single 1080p most likely (no need to factor into build) Peripherals: No need to factor in mouse and keyboard into the price, but I will need Windows 10. Upgrade: not upgrading, just building from scratch Notes: I've used Intel and Nvidia in the past with no issues so if possible I would like to stick with those brands. Graphical quality isn't important it just needs to run the games smoothly. That being said, the prettier the better. Thank you so much for all of your help. You can go a little over budget if need be.

My specs are: Ryzen 1600 @3.7ghz, 1.375v DDR4 16GB Corsair 2666Mhz 16-18-18-35 GTX1060 6GB. I have never had any problems gaming but when I do the Steam VR performance test I have a super high number of cpu bound frames and I don't know what's causing it. No one else with the same processor seems to have this even if there's is running at a lower clock speed then mine. I have an Oculus rift on the way and am wondering if this will cause problems and if so can I fix it. Does anyone know what could be causing this? I'm on a fresh install of windows and it's still happening.

hi guys, i'm new here, so the thing is, I'm buying a new pc for experimenting with VR. I'm currently having a problem choosing my graphics card, I was wondering if any of you would give me a solid tip. the thing is, i'm from Brazil, things here are absurdly overpriced and there are not many options at the affordable price range. so my doubt is, I can only afford to buy a brand new GTX 1080 EVGA sc , or a gigabyte GTX 1080 (not the g1 gaming) . these are the only ones in store at a price that is worth(and still a ripoff) but on the other hand, i can buy for the same price or (50 bucks less in my currency ) any other of the GTX 1070ti, such as the AMP! extreme from zotac or the Rog strix. I can't decide what to do since I've read the 1080s are better, but not these 2 models... i got people telling me to go for the EVGA sc 1080 and others saying to avoid couse of the heating problem... people saying it's not worth a 1080 for the same price here... all types of stuff... for now my build is a Z270 Asus rog Hero VIX, a i7 7700k, 32 gb 3000 mhz trident z Gskillz memory, a nzxt kraken x62 watercooling system and a corsair 850w gold power supply, on a nzxt elite S340 tower. PLEAS HELLLLLLLP!!!!!!

The new HTC Vive Pro will feature: dual 1440x1600 OLED screens (78% increase over current Vive) will be lighter and more comfortable (including for glasses wearers) built in audio is getting an upgrade It will be released this quarter and be compatible with v1 lighthouses. I think this is a great version two and backwards compatibility is always great. But I fear that with the PRO name the price will also be "pro". Hey everyone, have there been any promising or at least interesting news announced for 2018? I would love to get a VR headset now but, they are really expensive and, I wouldn't want to spend that amount of money if a much better version can come out in 2018.

I want to get into VR with the Htc Vive and wondering what an all out pc would cost. Also how well would a price to performance one cost? Also how many FPS will each rig get? Thanks

Hey there! I'm looking into VR and wanna get started the next couple of days / weeks. My GPU was kinda old and just died on me a couple of days ago (GTX 780 FE), which is a perfect opportunity to buy a new GPU! I got a budget of around 900€ and don't know which route I should go. I was thinking of getting a 1080 and a Rift alongside with it. After doing some research though the 1080 Ti seems much more capable and better suited especially for VR and highres gaming. If I were to buy the 1080 Ti, I couldn't afford a headset yet. I'd need to work a little more to purchase the headset sometime in early 2018. So I would like you guys to help me answer which route I should go. 1080 + VR headset right off the bat or the 1080 Ti and saving up money for the headset in a couple of weeks / months? My rig: i5 4670k @ 4,2GHz 16gb DDR3 RAM 500gb Samsung Evo SSD Asus Maximus VI Formula Corsair H100i AIO be quiet! Straight Power 600w 80+ Gold Sorry if I've formatted something wrong or broke some rule and thanks in advance for your answers, highly appreciated! Greetings!

I have a pretty small play area (about 3m x 4m) and the htc vive with 2 lighthouses/sensors is about the same price as the rift with 4 sensors. also my pc (R3 1200 OC to 3.8GHZ, 16gb ram and an RX 580 dual by asus) matches the oculus minimum/recommended specs better

I am considering buying an Oculas Rift or an HTC Vive but the main worry I have is not actually using it. It seems like a cool idea especially with the rising number of games that are VR capable but it also seems like something I would use for a while then get bored off and ditch for traditional gaming. If I am going to spend that kind of money on something, I would like to take full advantage of it.

Which is better? I'm mostly concerned about game selection, picture quality, controllers, and comfort. If you own one of these systems I'd love to hear your personal review but even if you don't I'd still like to hear your opinion.

Hey guys, Just a quick question. I'm thinking about getting the Vive VR headset to play simulation games such as iRacing. The steam VR compatibility checker advised that I upgrade my graphics card but due to short funds at the moment I'm not sure I can do that. Do you think my system would run the Vive VR headset well? EDIT: I'M AN IDIOT AND DIDN'T UPDATE THE SPECS AS THIS WAS AN OLD LIST. I AM RUNNING AN NVIDIA GTX 780Ti graphics card Here are my specs. Original Article: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2016/09/msi-vr-one-backpack-pc-details-specs/ And here it is. I wonder how many more of these backpack VR "solutions" is going to come out. My criticisms would be 1) they state it will only be 1.5 hours of battery life & 2) HEAT!!! Oh well, still an interesting concept and surprisingly small form factor.

So I got to try out a PlayStation VR at my local EB Games store (yes, I am a Canadian). Here are my thoughts on it. I would of posted this in reviews but this is an unreleased product. Now I've tried out an HTC Vive at a Microsoft Store as well, so I should get an idea of what VR should be like. Design Now obviously you're not gonna use this device as a fashion statement but I thought this was worth mentioning. The PlayStation VR looks like it came from the future. I'm not sure why, maybe it's those blue lights along with the white with the black accent. Or maybe it's the fact that the device uses a very simple design. It's really clean and tidy. There's a singular cable that hangs down on the left side of the device, and it splits into 2 cables so that you can connect it to the link box. Comfort The headset is really comfortable. The headband is similar to a pair of headphones. It's plastic on the outside, but inside, there's a soft cushion. It's very comfortable. There's still plenty of room for headphones to be seated as well. (Well, that depends on the headphones and the size of your head.) A pair of glasses will also fit. (Again, that depends on the shape and size of your glasses frame.) Adjustment There are 2 buttons underneath the display and on the back of the headset for adjusting the distance between the display and your eyes, and the headband to get a good fit, respectively. All you need to do is hold down a button, then slide the part back and forth. It's that simple. Incorrectly adjusting the display will result in a blurry picture. The Experience Now here's the part you all want to know about. What was it like to actually use the thing? Now here were the demos on offer: I chose EVE: Valkyrie because that's the only thing I've heard of. I would of tried Battlezone, but I really need to see the original arcade machine to see how Battlezone for the PlayStation VR is any different from the original game. (I know I can find videos of it online, but it's not the same as actually experiencing it due to all the fancy stuff Atari put on the machine.) It might just be me, but even when I adjusted the headset, I could still see a part of the store. That's not good! But when I was focused on the game, I barely even noticed it. As for graphics, I am sad to report that the PlayStation VR did not meet up to my expectations. The HTC Vive was much better at producing HD graphics. For the PSVR, imagine a 360p video, but a bit sharper than that. Yes. That's the best way I can describe this VR headset. It also seems that the pixels aren't really dense, becuase you can still see some pixels from within the unit. One thing I can say is that it has a slightly better FOV than other headsets. Latency shouldn't be a problem as it is quite quick at tracking your head motions. Like the Oculus Rift, the PlayStation VR is a seated VR experience, unless you got the software that supports room-scale and 2 Move controllers. That's an entirely different story. So what do I think of it? I'm mixed with this thing. The price and benefits are there, but the experience isn't great. It has a chance of being a success, but I have my doubts. What do you guys think? Cast your vote in the poll!

Amazon: http://geni.us/JGUwc The RX 480 has arrived, and it has proven itself as a very capable gaming card. But how does it fare in VR? Well, that question doesn't have a simple answer...

TweakTown has just shared a rumour saying that the new vive is set to come in early 2017. It feels like the vive only came out a month ago and HTC are already making plans for a new one. Brian Rowe also said in an interview with Roadtovr that they plan on the new making the Vive 2.0 thinner, lighter, have modular headphones, and just overall better in everything, as you'd expect. what are Oculus going to do.. I'm interested to see everyones thoughts on the future of virtual reality, where do you see it being implemented the most? i.e gaming, businesses? How do you think it will look in the next 10 years? What major changes would you make to any of the headsets if you were in charge?

As a virtual reality enthusiast and developer, I've discovered that it is a bit difficult to find others to talk about VR games(and other software); considering the small market. I've had the occasional chat in Alt-space or meet someone on Hover Junkers, Pool Nation, etc, but I don't get to actively engage with those people. So I decided to create this thread for those who are interested in VR and/or have a headset themselves. Here you can talk about upcoming games, recommend games, and share your interests for the future of VR. Enjoy! Please no fanboying. To start off, have you all seen this game? It looks phenomenal!

Oculus stops blocking Vive owners from playing exclusive Rift games - The Verge https://apple.news/ABwk6B6ccTpeYmDKgGOYblw It looks like the first step towards games no longer being lovked to a single type of headset! If the other side could just get on board, that would be awesome! although, tbh, im waiting until we have something like the OASIS in Ready Player One!
