I want to buy a budget VR headset to play games like Beat Saber, Half life Alyx, Blade and sorcery, etc since it's now affordable after steam sales, but I don't want to spend lots of money on something that I might not like. My budget is around 5 to 6 million Indonesian Rupiah. Is there a decent VR headset for that price range?

Lately got a VR itch again, had it since I tried the google cardboard but never invested into anything else. Noticed locally one is being sold for £70. Straps are a bit white but everything else seems ok? They still worth it? 75hz kinda sad and support is being dropped but should be ok for PC games as VR? Anything else I should know like mandatory facebook login, extra cables needed for PC connection or something? I'd be playing racing games, ED in VR and CP77 modded for VR. Can't decide if I want to try out VR or play Cities Skylines 2 maybe I should wait another year or two before quest 2 is worth £70...

Hey everyone, I have a confession to make. I destroyed my beloved MSI GS76 gaming/work laptop in a moment of pure forgetfulness. You see, I had packed it up in its rolling airport bag after a long day of work, and had planned to take it home. But in the midst of the Adderall shortage (which I'm sure contributed to my forgetfulness), I left the bag behind my car and drove right over it. It was a sad, cringe-worthy moment that left me with a bent and battered laptop. So now I need to start my search for a new laptop, but this time I'm determined to be more careful (and hopefully more focused). As an instructional designer, elearning developer, voiceover artist, audio editor, and budding software developer, I need a machine that can handle all of my various tasks. And of course, I'm a gamer who wants to take on VR games. All while staying within a $2000 budget. So, can anyone recommend a laptop that can meet all of my needs? I loved the large screen on my old MSI, so that's definitely something to consider. But overall, I just want a laptop that won't end up under my car's tires, Adderall or no Adderall. Thanks in advance for your help, and let's hope my next laptop has a longer lifespan than its ill-fated predecessor (and that the Adderall shortage ends soon). Oh, one last thing. I really loved the large screen on my laptop.

So my sister got a quest 2 about a year ago but has had such a large amount of trouble with it every time she wants to play any games that she ended up giving it to me on the condition that I buy her a different one that's easier to use. I'm hoping to find a headset with the requirements that follow: At or below $500 USD (I'm willing to spend a bit more than what her headset is worth to get her something that she actually enjoys using), must be inside out tracked since she only has a 1.75m^3 cube to play in and can't mount base stations. I'd also prefer not to get her something that's really outdated with way lower resolution or refresh rate like the Rift S. Has to be a native PCVR headset so no 'standalone that can technically do PCVR with lots of issues' like the quest 2. Whatever software it uses should preferably be relatively simple to use. I was planning on buying her an HP Reverb G2 but I've been told that it requires a lot of maintenance and upkeep / troubleshooting constantly to keep it running consistently, so that's been marked off the list. I know the index is technically the most seamless headset on the market to play with, but like I said, that's way too expensive and she can't mount base stations even if I did get one for her as a gift. I'm here hoping there's a headset out there that's right for her, but if there isn't, I guess I'll just have to give her the old headset back and say I couldn't find a better one, which I'd really rather not do. Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

the tracking has gone to bananas on one of the bases today and everything hardware-wise seems ok. https://imgur.com/a/LoLT10O the lights are all there, no blinking lights of any sorts, always green. tried tracking the faulty one alone in mode A and it doesn't seem to be detecting the headset at all. works in synced mode but whenever I'm facing the base the floor gets tilted and the controller go flying everywhere and my position is flying everywhere. checked online and no one seems to be reporting the issue, there's no noise or buzz or coil whining coming from the base and it seems to be fine physically. I read somewhere in steam forums that resetting the firmware might fix this issue, also there was a fix somewhere from steamvr devs that said there's a file calibration rescue .bin file in the steam vr files that can be used as a firmware update in the base. I tried that but still no go.

Hi I would appreciate your feedback before buying Budget: 2000 € (willing to go up to 2500 €) Location: Germany Aim: I want to use the latest VR hardware for gaming Monitors: Varjo Aero VR Headset (2880 x 2720 per eye, 90Hz | System Requirements: https://varjo.com/varjo-ready-computers-for-aero/) & Predator 34X (3440 x 1440, 100Hz) Peripherals: Not needed. I'll use my old stuff. Here is the part list I put together: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/q2W4qm - I am using my old case & fans - I need a lot of USB connectors because of VR (Headset + 3 Trackers, maybe more trackers in the future) - I chose parts without paying too much attention to aesthetics except when choosing the RTX 3070 Ti. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to help me out Edit: I was considering paying 50 € more to use water cooling (ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 420) for the Ryzen 7 5800X but I didn't see the need for it in the end.

Hey gamers, So I've been running a 980TI and i7 6700K since 2016ish and this rig has served me phenomenally since then. The issue is, I really enjoy VR and it absolutely struggles to keep up with newer VR hardware as well as hitting an ever-increasing wall when it comes to games. Now, when it comes to building a new PC, I'm the type of person who isn't interested in skimping-out on anything and want to make sure I get the best possible options that will last me as long as my current rig (within reason, of course). I decided to check out Build Redux after yet another amazing segue by Linus to see what they have to offer, and with a bit of tweaking this screenshot is what I have so far. Everything seems pretty quality and up to snuff for a desperately needed upgrade, but I'm not nearly as part-savvy as I'd need to be to really understand what I'm looking at here. Which brings me to my main question: Am I screwing myself over here? As in, are there any parts that are questionable, or something missing that I would need for this to function properly/significantly better? Water cooling is a bit over my head, but I believe that's a common thing for high-end GPUs that isn't listed here? Should I wait for the new hardware coming out in the next few months instead? Its a big investment that I want to last so I want to ensure this is, relatively speaking, the best option I can go for. I appreciate any input!

I dunno if Peripherals is the correct subforum to post this under, but I searched and saw other VR posts here, so if this is the wrong place, let me know. The company one of my family members work for has bought 5 Oculus Quest 2's that they want to use for community events and online meetups, I suppose. However, it appears that they have no clue how to actually get them set up and didn't know about the facebook account requirement before purchasing them. They thought they'd just be able to make one account and share it across all the headsets, but it seems they wouldn't be able to play online with each other if they do that. I've been told there's a more business oriented version of the headsets you can buy, but that doesn't really help because they've already purchased 5 regular consumer model quest 2's. I guess what I'm really asking is what the best way to go about setting up these headsets would be. Do they just have to make 5 facebook accounts to tie to each of the headsets so they can play together? Is there any risk of those accounts getting banned and bricking the headset since there's no actual person tied to them? Any help or info would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi Everyone, Wanting to get some advice for a router specifically for Oculus Air Link. I currently have a nighthawk X6S AC4000 router, but it's in the room next to my PC, and can't be moved. Latency and general stability of oculus air link is a bit rubbish. Was looking at maybe getting a dedicated router and use it as a Wi-Fi 6 AP. Unsure whether anyone's had experience of this setup, and/or can recommend a good router for it. Looking at the TP-LINK AX1500, seems to be one of the cheapest WiFi 6 capable ones. Thanks!

I've been having some issues with half life alyx that have been really destroying my enjoyability of the game. It's been leaving me dizzy and nauseous in a way that no other VR game ever has. The list of glitches include having my entire vision turn orange or grey for no reason at random times, and along with this comes my camera being detached from my head position, causing my vision to be stuck in a direction that my head is no longer pointed in, which is very disorienting. Additionally, I occasionally get an instance of severe lag during loading sequences during which one frame of the loading screen per second will flash on one of my eye displays and then the other, giving me severe headaches. I have no idea what the cause for any of these issues could be. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Should I buy the Oculus Quest 2 or the Oculus Rift S? In my country, they’re both the same price. I will most likely primarily connect the headset to my computer and play VR Games from Steam. Note: my computer is an Asus G14 laptop with the highest specs, so I won’t be able to connect any headset directly to the GPU.

Looking for RAM recommendations (and where to potentially purchase) for a VR Gaming / Video Editing PC build... Ryzen 3900, nVidia 3080, M.2 NVME PCIe 4 SSDs. I'm trying to find four sticks of 16 GB for a total of 64 GB. Couldn't care a lick about RGB. I can find 3600 MHz RAM at CL 18, or 3200 MHz RAM at CL 16, but not having much luck at 3600 MHz CL 16 or under. Any recommendations from the experts (or alternate memory specs I should be searching for)? This will go into a Lian-Li O11 Dynamic XL case with (most likely) a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master motherboard with an AIO cooler. Key games/applications are DCS in VR, MS Flight Simulator, and Adobe Premiere Pro / After Effects. Thanks!

OK, so I'm about to move into a new house soon and since I'm renting, I can't make any modifications to the house. I want to be able to have my gaming setup in my room like normal but have it connect to the TV into the loung. I'm currently running a pretty typical setup with an oculus quest which I use link with a bit. I want to be able to have an hdmi input and USB 3.1 in the loung that connects to my computer in my room (about 15-20 metres away. I want to say 20 to be safe. I've looked at my options and it's easily doable by buying hdmi or USB 3.0 to ether net converters which is way too expensive). What I'm wondering is if there's a DIY option or just a cheaper alternative. I don't have too much knowledge on the subject but to far all I can think of is buying 2 raspberry pi's (one for each end). Like I said I don't know in detail how this all works but I know there must be an easier and cheaper way to accomplish this. Thank you.

So i am looking at getting an index and see the minimum graphics is a 970. I own a 980ti reference card with 6gb vram and would like to get some opinions on if it will be usable with an index. I will eventually get a better graphics card but i don't want to get the index if what I have now is not even going to be an enjoyable experience until i update the GPU. I would imagine I'd have to bump most settings down quite a bit. Like a lot of you, I want to see what the 3000 series cards do to the market and look to get a 2070 super or 2080 in the future if prices drop a bit. I am currently running an i7-4790k with 16gb DDR3. Those will be updated later on down the road as I am not really seeing any bottlenecks with anything I am running. So what do you think? In almost min 2020 is it worth playing VR on a 980ti? Or should all people with 900 series look to update to minimum 1070-1080. Thanks!

So I'm looking at getting skmthing to track my heart rate and such that's comparable with the vr institute of health and exercise app. But most of the options in its list of confirmed working are pricy. Can anyone tell me if skmthing like this will work https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07YDHW4D3/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_i_gXQLEb9JV4PZ1 Or atleast at this price

Hey I want to start with VR but I don't know what headset to buy. What are like the top 3 BEST VR Headsets / setups (PC)?? ( I don't care about money)
-
This is a long boy. Sorry. I built my current system in January of last year. The notable parts of the build are a Ryzen 3 2200g and a Gigabyte gaming 4g RX570. The full parts list is at https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Jack0f5pades/saved/NnLxGX I recently began an endeavor of trying to get the best VR experience I could out of my current system. I bought an Oculus quest along with the Partylink cable and a pcie USB-C port expansion card to be able to play H3VR. However, most if not all of my experience has been plagued with input and frame lag, movement issues, rendering problems, artifacting, and other issues. The quest itself works fine standalone when not linked to my PC, but as soon as it is, it's like I'm stuck in a pre-alpha version of existence, where nothing is quite the way it's supposed to be. At first I realized that 75% of my GPU memory was being eaten by my Radeon relive playback feature, which I disabled. After that, my performance got a bit better but was still very jittery. The SteamVR performance test app says that my GPU's memory was to blame, and that I would have to upgrade my graphics card to get the best experience. However, other RX570 owners have told me that their performance was just fine, and to not go upgrading my GPU. Others said that the problem was a result of my CPU's low core and thread count compared to newer options was to blame, causing a bottleneck on what would otherwise be a perfectly functioning GPU. Others have told me that their CPUs at similar core, thread, and clock speeds were perfectly adequate. I began to look at my cord being faulty, which is unlikely because of its high Amazon review rating and the fact that it's specifically constructed for this purpose. Then I began to suspect my pcie expansion card, but I later realized that the problems persisted whether the cord was plugged into the expansion card or into the board with an adapter. At this point I have no idea what is causing my jittering and lagging. I'm just trying to get as good of an output as is seen in Anton's (the H3VR dev) videos depicting his development of the game. I'm currently considering two things: selling my quest and buying a Rift S, which is specifically designed to work while tethered to a PC. OR: Upgrade my cpu (to a 2600x) and my gpu (to an 8gb 5500xt) as well as getting a board with its own USB-C port and the official $80 oculus cable. This would be the option that is most likely to completely solve my problems, but is a drastic measure because that would be roughly a $500- $550 venture. So, what do you think? Has anyone experienced problems like mine, or have the general knowledge to tell me if I should just cut my losses / upgrade my system or not? Thanks for your responses.
