So I'm in the process of starting my own business venture where I will be providing and building 3D designs for clients, either jus the cad design or with my 3D printer also providing molds an/or prototypes. For my first client that I just now landed I will also be creating a short film of what their new product is made to do, that will then be shown to the companies board. I have a background in video editing and 3D design already, however, with having the budget up front to buy new equipment and possibly build a new workstation computer I'm thinking I'm in a serious need of a new system, just for work. My primary system I use currently (Blueberry Pie) has an i7-6700k with an Asus GTX 980 Ti Stix OC and it's been doing wonders for me but I feel like the latest Ryzen 7 1800x and the just released GTX 1080 Ti would greatly benefit me. My absolute max budget is $5000 CAD. Below is what I've come up with: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/TtpfGf Ryzen 7 CPU's seem like the perfect choice, they are very competitively priced and as I literally don't care about gaming at all with this particular build I think that I would get spectacular performance for my main use which is Adobe Premiere Pro and Autocad. My reasoning for a GTX 1080 Ti is the 3500+ Cuda cores, which when I built my current main system is why I bought the GTX 980 Ti (high Cuda core count). The $1000 GTX 1080 is to represent the MSRP of the founders edition GTX 1080 Ti's when the release here in Canada. Storage is very important and I wouldn't look to cut back on anything really, the m.2 is for OS and program files, the 2 SSD's will be cinfigured in Raid 0 for super fast storage, and the 6TB hard drives are for mass storage, although I will be using file copying software to have data redundancy on one hard drive to another as I cannot always be hooked up to my server. The cooler is nothing special as by the end of summer I would probably do a custom loop, effectively cooling the CPU and GPU. Other than that I did choose the best $/GB SSD's available here in Canada and one of the best $/GB 7200RPM hard drives available as well. For the RAM I'd ideally go for high-speed RAM, and as I tend to eat up a lot of memory in Autocad I would go for a minimum of 2x16GB sticks for now. But I did add the best $/GB non-ugly RAM available for the time being (64GB). If anyone has some other suggestions I'm open to hear them all, I was thinking of maybe going for a Quadro card as well? Although there may not be much room in the budget. I do not need any peripherals in this budget. Thanks in advanced.

I'm planning to buy a laptop for gaming and video editing and obviously for programming, Virtualization and College project. I'm not a hardcore gamer so I want to invest on a budget gaming laptop. Hello to all #LinusTechTips! I have a desktop PC at home, back from 2012, and my GPU card got sort of an irreversible physical damage, which I can't repair. So I gotta buy a new one! My config, however, is not one of the most actual ones, and I wanna make the right choice. Therefore, to sum it up, I want to share the components I use and the purpose of my PC and I'll ask anyone who can share an opinion to point me to the right direction. My PC has the following components: - CPU: i5-2500k @3.3GHz - RAM: 12GB DDR3 - MotherBoard: ASRock P67 Pro3 - Power Source: InterTech Energon 650W - Hard Disk: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB - an older graphics card to replace the crashed GTX 560 from NVidia (which simply stopped rendering the image properly one day, by displaying pixels and "advancing" to complete image disappearance, after 4 years and a half of usage ) The purpose of this "monster" () is gaming (World of Warcraft mainly, but also wanna try names like Watch Dogs), computer programming (such as visual studio, android studio etc.) and video rendering (rarely, but happens). My thoughts have been going around the latest affordable technologies released by NVidia and AMD, and, since the budget is tight and I wanna solve the GPU issue, I wanna know if I can do that and what choice should I make. My attention has been going around the GTX 1060 from NVidia, and the RX 480 from AMD respectively. But, if I am going to choose either of those, can I go for the 3GB, or I can aim for the 6 GB version from NVidia, or the 4GB or even the 8GB from AMD ? Also, right now I am using a SyncMaster 740N monitor from Samsung, running on VGA, but I can make an effort and change it if needed (would not rather right now tho, but can do). I was curious what people think is a better option for the x99 platform for a motherboard? I am an ASUS fan so I would like to know people's experiences for OC's on each with a 6800k and x99 Deluxe II or, if i can pinch it in, a 6850k and the Sabertooth TUF sabertooth. I am leaning more towards the Sabertooth and 6850k but I wanted to check before I commit.

So the primary method I used for recording pc gameplay was shadow play but when I dropped it into vegas and rendered the quality was horrible not sure why tried tons and tons of different settings tried one where I increased the bitrate dramatically and I rendered and it looked great but now when I use those same settings the video looks bad a pixely again tried obs and again inconsistent recorded once looked good now when I record it looks like a horrible vhc effect and no matter what I do I can not get it to record wither 3 in good quality always pixely please help a d I have tried consoles recording with elgato and it worked fine just of gameplay is having issues and I have an i7 6700 and a gtx 1070 so this is not a hardware restraint

I am a free lancing video editor and a youtuber, currently I use my MacBook Air for editing purpose. I use iMovies combined with motion and compressor as my everyday creativity package. I am finding my MacBook Ai r not powerful enough and I am planning to upgrade, I am confused weather I should go with assembling a PC or should I buy a new Mac, in my budget I could get a iMac 5k , I know the hardware that I can assemble for the price could be much more powerful but I am a fan of the Apple software as iMovies has performed way better for me than Premier Pro on the same hardware. I am completely confused. Reliability is on high priority for me.

I am planing to start a new Youtube channel and therefore upgrading my current PCs GPU and i would have gone with the RX 480, because its price/performance-ratio is about as good as it gets in my country and because i wanna play some games at 1080p. But after i did some research online i saw that some programs (like Blender) benefit from Nvidias CUDA acceleration but i couldn't find any current numbers. As of right now I might pick up a GTX 1060 instead, but I'm not to sure because its price/performance-ratio is not as good as AMDs RX 480. Has anyone experience with editing/rendering on AMD/Nvidia GPUs and can help me out? Im also not to sure how important the amount of VRAM is for editing/rendering: 1060 (3gb vs 6gb), 480 (4gb vs 8gb).

Good morning everyone, I am looking for a new portable SSD. I am going to edit videos off of it. I boiled down my options to the Angelbird SSD2Go and Samsung T3. I don't see any real reason (value or features) for paying a price premium for the Angelbird 1TB (£537.46) versus the Samsung T3 1TB (£345.49). There is a £192 gap in their pricing and the T3 offers much better write and overall performance! But I thought about getting a second opinion before making the jump since I have never seen the Angelbird in person. Many Thanks.

Hello everyone, I am looking to build two (at least in theory) professional builds dedicated to two different purposes. I was asking for help on another forum, but things have slowed down somewhat and I need some more opinions to be absolutely sure I'm making the best builds to get the job done. This will be a long post with a lot of details. I did a lot of research and work on the other forum so a fair warning. It's not that I don't know anything about computer builds, but I've never built one before and I would still consider myself a beginner, so please be specific and detailed with any and all advice, please. My budget: I would like to keep it between $15,000-$20,000, but do not concern yourself over it too much. More than anything I want a set up that is going to do everything efficiently. I own a small business and this is not a hobby project, this is for my actual work life and a means of upgrading to the equipment I will be using for the next 5-10 years. My area: I purchase most of my things online, but if it is important, the general scope is in Pennsylvania. The purpose of the computers and the workflow Through research and talking to other computer builders I have learned that video editing/CAD manipulation and rendering have different requirements. Computer build #1 - (The video editing and CAD/3D modeling production system) What I will be doing between the computers (me and my team, actually) will consist heavily of video editing in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and Adobe After Effects CS6. I need scrubbing the timeline to be quick and seamless, even with a lot of transitions and special effects. From what I gather a fast CPU will beat out a lot of cores here. I will be using a lot of Blender/Maya for CAD/3D modeling work. I will be working with extremely high poly counted models, and doing a lot of sculpting work. These models will eventually find their way into the Unreal Engine 4 program for use in video games within the caliber of that engine, which is very intensive. Unreal Engine 4 will be run on this computer as well, so it needs to be able to handle that engine also. Again, from what I gather, the order of priority in these parts are as follows. 1. CPU (clock speed) for video editing/GPU for CAD/3D manipulation. 2. High speed/high quantity of DDR4 RAM. It doesn't need to be ECC. 3. Storage (an SSD for the OS/should I have a separate SSD for the programs installation?) The second computer build (The video/video game project rendering, Music production, general purpose, email, web browsing computer) I suppose doing the rendering on a separate computer build would not disrupt the work flow as much. When it comes to rendering I believe more cores are better, and it will be rendering out 4K video and sometimes large Unreal Engine 4 projects. besides that, it will be used as a music production workstation which is more my area of expertise, so I think I have the requirements worked out on that part. It will also be used for a general purpose web browsing, email, etc. computer. And about internet access, it needs to be extremely quick for both machines as a lot of my work goes through uploads and downloads. So suggestions on a good modem and a good router for this set up would be greatly appreciated as I do not know much yet about either one (I'm researching that area now.) This is a quick check list of the components for the two PC builds ( as of this moment)... Computer 1 - The video editing/CAD, 3D modeling/Unreal Engine 4 build CPU - It needs to have a fast clock speed, more than 10 cores will not improve performance greatly. GPU - It needs to be able to perform well for 3D manipulation. Something like Quadro, but it doesn't have to be if there is a better alternative. RAM - I will probably need decent DDR4 128 GB 2400-3000 MHz. Motherboard - I suppose this machine can work fine enough or possibly even better in a single CPU build. What do you think? Storage - Should I set up a raid on this computer? Obviously, an SSD drive for the OS. Should the programs be installed on a separate SSD as well, or on the same one? And what about the video assets. They'll be moved to another storage device after editing is finished anyway. Computer 2 - The video rendering/music production/general purpose/browsing/internet computer CPU - I am thinking of going for plenty of cores. Either a dual CPU or quad CPU build I think would be appropriate for future upgrades. The cores should preferably be fast enough, but more is better here. GPU - it doesn't have to be as much as the other build, as this will be rendering. GPU accelerated rendering doesn't help out much here. RAM: Probably the same as the last machine. DDR4 128 GB 2400-3000 MHz. Motherboard: I'm thinking a dual CPU build, or just in the last two days, after looking at some rendering benchmarks on Corona Renderer, a quad CPU system might be a good investment... Although I'm not entirely sure, I've heard some good things a bout dual CPU rendering machines as well. Any opinions on this? One question. Can I get away with not immediately occupying all 4 CPUs? A quad build would be great for the future and upgrading once I have the spare money, but having the board run with maybe two at first could be a good idea. Storage: I would probably set up the same thing as the other build, I suppose? Thank you to anyone who can take the time out for this project in advance. Please keep in mind that I am still at a beginner's level and I am a very busy person, so I could use a lot of help, and I don't always have the time to do extensive research. I still do try however. I am building a workstation rig for my video editing and graphic design needs and need advice on part choices. I am fairly new to video editing and i would primarily working only on FHD video (since i dont have cameras to record at 4K). Workflow seems to be mostly centered around using Premiere Pro with a little After Effects. Questions 16 GB Vs 32 GB : I am planning to start with 16GB to stick to my budget and later add 16 more when i can afford it. If that a good idea to start with 16 GB or should not cheap out on RAM? GTX 1060 (3GB vs 6GB) : Read a lot of "diminishing returns" on going higher up in GPU. 1080/1070/980TI all seem out of budget. Need advice if 1060 would be a bad choice also if 6GB would make any significant improvement. So I am building a second PC, and want a decent CPU/motherboard that can play next year's triple-A games. But I have some weird requirements. I currently have a Z97 mobo with an i5 4690k CPU. I am building a second PC, and I want it to have a nice CPU, but I don't want to get anything better than my (kinda) "beasty" current rig. I guess it's just out of my comfort zone, because I don't want to belittle my current PC which I love very much. So I have a few options. Get another Z97/LGA1150 motherboard, which I feel comfortable with, or go for a Z170 because it's newer and upgradable. Which should I go with? Z170 route: If I'm correct, Skylake are the only CPUs that can go in Z170 boards? If so, are my options simply the i5 6600k and i7 6700k, or are there some more affordable Skylake CPUs? Z97 route: Which compatible CPU should I get? Are there any CPUs that are less or equal to the 4690k, but still run games fine? Hey guys I recently started doing some youtube vidoes and found that I can't really play games while I wait for videos to export. Is upgrading from 4460 to 6700 going to fix my problem or just going to make a slight improvement. I've been researching and I found that gaming wise the upgrade is never worth it but I'm not sure how it would stand up to a more multi threaded work load.

Hello folk. I wanted to ask you kind folk if you could help me with a slight problem which I'm having. I'm new to video editing and I only do basic stuff for my videos since the videos I am working on are gameplay videos I upload to Youtube. Now what my problem is that my recordings are split into few files and I want to group them all into a single video, which I do simply by adding new clips to the end of the previous ones, however when I do that there appears to be some sort of sound cut where it's kinda obvious that the clips are added one after another and I'd rather fix this. Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix it ? My video editing program is Vegas Pro 13. PC Specifications are: CPU: i5 2500K (Overclocked to 4.5 GHz) GPU: GTX 980 Ti SSD: Samsung 850 EVO (where Vegas Pro is) HDD: Samsung Spinpoint 1 TB (where my videos are) RAM: 8 GB

When I capture my screen using a screen capture software and I upload it into a video editing software, the video and audio track loose sync. This is really annoying because after the video goes on for a while, the tracks don't match up with each other. This problem seems to be happening with different video editing software. also, when I view the screen capture in a media player, it plays through fine. Why is this happening?? And how can i stop it?

Hey guys, so my friend asked me if I could build him a pc for video editing purposes only. I said yeah, but his budget is US $800. I was thinking of getting him the Ryzen 1600x, but I just wasn't sure about the GPU. Would I need to put something pretty powerful in in order for him to edit 4k, or can something like a 1050ti be good enough for that purpose? I built a gaming pc for myself, but I don't edit videos, so I wouldn't know what is needed for 4k editing. I'll put a list of the specs I was thinking of below, let me know what you think. Whenever I try to search for it I only end up at dead ends or versions where they beg you to pay or register for the "full version" or whatever. If you can't find it either; would you please recommend me something very similar and for a casual? I can't be bothered to install a cracked Sony Vegas 13... Thanks

I am trying to decide which graphics card is better for 4k video editing in Adobe Premiere and some After Effects. More specifically I will be making music videos with multiple effects including chroma keying. I am in the process of getting all the parts together to build a computer purely for video editing is it worth getting the 980ti (ASUS ROG MATRIX) or a 1070 (not sure which model) as both are around the same price on ebay in the UK . Alternatively would it be worth it just to get a 1060 or RX480 for less? My goal is to edit 4k in full quality in real time using one 1080p monitor and one 2160p monitor for the preview video. I know the 980ti has more cuda cores and possibly a higher IPC? So I'm about to build my first gaming PC and I was wondering if the build I have setup is doable? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RR2HZ8 One thing that I wanted to point out is the power supply. Will 550W cut it for this build? I do not plan to overclock or anything of that nature. I'm just planning to use this as an productivity machine with some 1080p gaming on the side. Also how about the RAM? Will 2400Mhz cut it? From what I've heard Ryzen works better with faster RAM, but I didn't want to spend a lot of money on the Corsair Vengeance LPX memory which cost a lot. I know that LPX is faster and stuff like that but I just didn't feel like paying that much for it. Also, is it possible to install Windows 7 on Ryzen? I've seen that some people managed to get it working on Ryzen CPUs.
