Budget (including currency): Around $2000-$3000 Country: U.S. Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: General daily use, video editing/effects (1080 or 4k), graphic design (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.), small-scale 3D work and light gaming on occasion Hello! I am currently searching for parts to build a PC for myself after years of slow hand-me-downs and loud-fanned laptops. I do graphic design and have been interested in making graphics-heavy video content as well, so I've been researching and workshopping a build for a few weeks after learning at least a decent amount on how the process works, what parts I'd need for my goals, and what combination might make the best finished product. Given that I am completely new to the scene I'd appreciate any thoughts or suggestions so I know if I am getting it right, or spending far too much: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/J8y2bK The only thing I haven't yet taken into account are separate case fans and I don't really care about RGB or any visual modifications, just performance. As for keyboard and mouse, I am planning on using my old inexpensive ones I have on hand for now. Hopefully things all turn out well, thanks for your help!

Budget (including currency): $2,500 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Video editing, recording game play, Minecraft, Photoshop, daily use. Other details (Here is what I got so far https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ddNBGL, I know it's pretty expensive but I have the money and want to start getting the parts soon. I'm going to have two monitors and 1440p. One is going to have a refresh rate of 60Hz but have better color accuracy for color grading and photo editing. The other will be running at 240Hz and will be used for recording game play. This is my first build, so I would like a second opinion on the parts before I start buying them.

Budget: Quetzales Q. 5500-Q. 6000 Translates to $750-$800 (american dollars) Country: Guatemala Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Games: CIV 6, Overwatch 1/2, Minecraft, LOL and CSGO. Professional Workload: Photoshop, Lightroom and maybe in the future some video editing software and Ableton for some light music creation. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): This build is a fresh one apart from the case and the RAM. I would prefer to go ryzen though if intel is better in price to performance I would go for it. The parts I would buy them either through Microcenter in New York or Newegg or Amazon. I have a trip planned right at the middle of October to both New York and Fort Lauderdale so I was going to buy the parts then. What would you recommend with the budget and the new GPU's and CPU's that are coming out soon right during that time? Thanks. Existing parts Case: GT 301 RAM: Vengeance Black 2x8GB (16GB) 3000 MHz PSU: EVGA 500W Storage: 120 GB SSD (Boot Drive), 1TB Barracuda HDD. GPU: GTX 960 CPU: Ryzen 5 3400G (Would be used for a new home computer for my sister and mother. Already have a B450 and 16GB of RAM for that build.)

I'm trying to decide between these two laptops for college. The XPS would be the 9310 with a 3050 ti and the G14 would have a 6700s. I do some gaming on the side, looking at maybe Minecraft, Flight Sim 2020 (if possible), and a few other games. I'm okay with playing 1080p high settings. I also do a fair amount of video/photo editing in the Adobe suite but both of these laptops seem to be perfectly fine for that. I did find both laptops at pretty good prices but the XPS comes in about $200 cheaper. That savings would definitely be nice to use on other things. Not sure which one to get given what I plan on doing so I would love to hear what you all think! Thanks

Hi everyone! I'm enrolling in a Video Editing Master degree the next year and a laptop is compulsory for class, the schooI "sells/reccomend" a HP laptop since they're partners to some degree, here are the specs: HPZBOOK STUDIO G5 Intel i7-10750H NVIDIA Quadro P620 GDDR5 de 4 GB 512GB NVME (They include a FOCUSRITE SCARLETT SOLO 3rd Gen for an audio interface) 1950€ = 2050$ The school is more focused on 3D, VFX, animation and design so I get why they would recommend a Quadro for Blender, Maya, C4D or Houdini but, I would be using Davinci, Premiere; AVID, After Effects... in order to edit video with a ocassional dive in to Blender just for funzies. Is this a good investment or are thy giving a bad recommendation for video editing and I'd be better off buying a laptop by myself? It's hard to compare to other laptops because they don't provide more specs about the machine. For the record, I have a modest desktop (Ryzen 7 2700X + GTX 1660 Super 6gb + 16GB RAM + 512M2 SSD and 2TB HDD) that I could use at home, I'm also considering leaving this desktop in my hometown and using it remotely, I'm still looking into how viable this approach would be.

Hi people that are way smarter than me, A couple of friends of mine are working on a documentary with a few other people and their current footage solution is the usual stacks of external drives and then driving over to each other's houses to get footage, edit, etc. I KNOW there is a better way to do this and I was thinking of helping them set up a footage server so they can both edit off of that and not worry about exchanging drives every few days. What's the best way to go about this? Would setting up a NAS from an old optiplex with a bunch of drives or something along those lines be good enough for them? Or is this something that I should just tell them to deal with? I have a general idea of how this all works, but any input would be greatly appreciated! They are also using macs (sorry everyone I know but they love their final cut).

I'm looking to get either a 16-inch MacBook Pro or Mac Studio and I'm trying to figure out what processor I need for video editing & graphic design. I will mostly be editing gameplay footage using Final Cut Pro X, and creating thumbnails/other similar content using Affinity Photo. Videos will generally be 1440p-2160p @60fps. I also want to get into photography/photo editing in the future. I have seen that the M1 Max outperforms the M1 Pro in photo/video editing since it has dedicated media engines built in to the SOC. However, I see mixed results whether the 32 core variant actually performs better than the 24 core. Either one will blow my current Intel MacBook Pro out of the water, but if the 32c is noticeably better, I'm fine with paying more. Appreciate your suggestions!

Hi, I'll try to keep this short: Currently I use the following setup for video editing & gaming: MSI B550 / Ryzen 3700x / GTX 1660 Super / 32GB DDR4 @3200Mhz. I mainly edit footage in 4K60 4:2:2 10 bit h.265 in Premiere and After Effects and am starting to notice the "age" of my system. Now I want an upgrade. I´d say im doing 70% video editing and (sadly) 30% gaming. (besides, Christmas is coming and why not..) After dozens of upgrade guides I am faced with the following choice: 1. stay with AMD for now and install a 5950X incl. RTX 3070/3080. Maybe upgrade to 64GB RAM? and even keep the motherboard. 2. Sell most of the PC and get a 13700K incl. RTX 3070 with DDR5 The onboard graphics with the intel work really well in terms of video playback endcoding while editing and I was told it´s even faster than any 3090 could be. I don´t care whats (slightly) more expensive in the end. I've only heard very often that the 13th Intel generation is supposed to be insane. Thanks for your opinions or completely different suggestions! Budget (including currency): +/- 2.000€ Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Adobe Pr, Ae, Gaming

Budget (including currency): <$1,000USD Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Remote access server to push .pdf files to various users' tablets (~30 users on Android and iPadOS) in a user friendly solution while also storing raw footage for editing and being able to store/stream finalized video projects to be accessed either remotely or on the same local network. Specifically, 1.) I want my band to have a digital library of sheet music (in .pdf format) that they can pull from as long as they have internet or are on the same local network and 2.) for the amateur production team to be able to pull the raw video footage of our concerts, edit on DaVinci Resolve, and export back onto the server. Other details: I might pull parts from my current PC (for when I upgrade) like the motherboard, CPU, and RAM but I would like to build a network rack and be able to remotely access the server via RDP. Current PC is listed here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BXtvBc. I plan to have this server at the rehearsal studio our band practices in but if that isn't a viable option, I will keep it at home. Windows preferred! I more or less have an idea of the parts for the server but unsure as to what a good network rack would be and all the ways to set up the specific configuration I'm looking for. Something like a Plex server but for .pdf files and a remote access NAS for the editing footage? This will also be my first server so noobspeak is very much appreciated.

Hello everyone, We are a small business with 4 employees that do video editing and animation. I am not that knowledgable about NAS but i know what we need: 1. 4 or more HDD slots 2. Enough speed for at least 3 PCs to watch 4k footage at the same time 3. Is it possibe that we do all of our editing and exports right at the NAS drives? As in just eliminate the need to copy files on PC drives. 4. Raid ofc The last think i am not sure how people do is how do i connect all 4 PCs with ethernet cables when all of the NASs have like 1 or 2 ethernet slots. I probably need some kind of an adapter right? Thank you in advance for your help.

Budget (including currency): USD $1,000 (+/- USD $100 if need be) Country: United States of America Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Primarily live-streaming, minor editing workloads, running multiple programs at once (i.e. virtual webcam, OBS, audio software), games not current gen but as recent as approx. 2018 or so (i.e. the Bandai-Namco Tales series, Arma series) but as old as DOS-era Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Upgrading from an AMD Ryzen 7 3700U workstation, worked previously off of an old HP Workstation running a very dated Intel CPU that cost almost pennies to replace. Not expecting anything mind-blowing or competitive (definitely wanting to stick to an AMD focus, though), but definitely powerful enough that I'm not gonna drop frames and can run comfortably with while still having some room to upgrade later down the line. Made the mistake of cutting corners and buying a compact workstation in hopes I wouldn't need much more, but with my current plans, I don't feel confident that continues to be the case. Attaching a parts list from PC Part Picker of about as far as I've gotten, with the current cost hitting around USD $1,010.88; however, if it's at all possible to optimise it further I'd be greatly appreciative. I plan to also run it by my local PC parts store to get their take on things to make sure I'm making as much of an informed decision as possible. Trying to keep a black and red motif going, but if I have to make adjustments based on cost, I might drop that entirely and save appearances for when I have a bit more cash to play around with. Thanks in advance, and sorry for the huge wall of text!

My current main monitor is 27" 1080p https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/accessories-and-software/monitors/gaming/66a3gccbus it's better than my other 2 which I use as my side and vertical monitors. My side monitors are one of the budget AOC monitors and I was looking to replace my main with 1440p or higher for gaming and coding (my main job). I have a laptop that is 2880 x 1800 OLED and my god even though its 14" I prefer it for coding just because of how readable everything is. I may need glasses but I honestly prefer the OLED clean look especially when consuming media. The main reason I am asking for help is because I really don't just myself to research and buy a monitor I will not regret (also a bit afraid of buying an OLED for my desktop because I use my computer probably more than 12 hours a day every day). My budget is probably around $800 but cheaper is preferred. If my dream monitor really is a dream for that price I am still open to see what all my options are. In advance thanks for you help if you decide to comment Also I might want to replace my vertical with a flat monitor because currently it is a curved TN panel 1080p. -- Edit I say OLED but I believe IPS also is pretty clear if I'm not mistaken (I literally have only ever seen TN and VA panels ) -- Edit 2 Just saw the QLED Alienware https://www.amazon.com/Alienware-AW3423DW-34-18-inch-3440x1440-Curvature/dp/B09VQ48X5Q and honestly I would be down for an ultrawide (I always blow up my budget lol) -- Edit 3 The Odyssey OLED G8 looks insane

So, I have a relative who is a choir director, and in this current time, they want to make a choir video of their students singing. They came to me (me being the family tech support) and said hey, can you put together about 30 clips in one video. I'm not the most experienced user of Premiere Pro, so I have no idea if this is even possible. Also, they said they would be willing to upgrade my PC to do this. I don't exactly have the most powerful rig. Tl;DR, I need to put 30 videos split screen into one video and I need to find a budget (but solid) rig to do it with. I already have a mATX rig, so mATX boards are appreciated if you would like to recommend a config. Mainly upgrades would just be CPU, MOBO, and GPU. Questions for people who REALLY don't want to read: 1: Can I combine 30 videos into one split screen video? 2: What kind of budget rig would do that? Thanks!

THE ISSUE 1) I can't play a few games on my PC as they do not meet the minimum requirements (one example Universe Sandbox which usually crashes after 15min - See requirements for this game at Steam if you desire). Also note I do not alter settings and leave my games at their default settings. 2) Well doing screen recordings for YouTube I often find that the video has massive lag issues. This lag is less if I have less stuff opened. An example of a typical recording would be: OBS (video capture, windows capture, etc.), A browser (usually Fire Fox) with 4 or more tabs open ranging from articles or a YouTube video. I don't notice the lag during the recording and only find it out when done and I'm checking the video for basic issues (audio sync, etc.). CURRENT BUILD 1) Case - NZXT Phantom 43.0 Full Tower https://www.nzxt.com/products/phantom-white 2) Motherboard - AsRock FM2A78M-HD+ https://www.newegg.com/asrock-fm2a78m-hd/p/N82E16813157482 3) Processor - AMD A10-5800K APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, 4200 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s) 4) Ram - 12gb DDR3 Team Group Inc. Of course the question than become would just upgrading the processor and hard drive make much of a difference or should I bite the bullet and upgrade all or most parts in my current PC. I watched a few videos from LinusTech on budget builds under $800 for 2020, but some of the parts are not longer in stock. And I've had issues searching for processor compatible with my 6 year old mother board. Any advice or tips would be nice. PC HISTORY I bought this PC from a eBay seller (who has since been kicked off eBay & Paypal for fraudulent activity); yes lesson learned. It was a gift to myself when graduated from college. It was purchased for about $875.

Hey everyone I've been using a free Premiere Plugin called Daniel2 for a year now, and it pretty much doubled the speed for most of my renders. Apparently it's not very well known, so thought I might drop in here, you can try it out for yourself to see how much of a difference it makes for you. You can find it on Adobe Exchange or here https://daniel2.com/ I'm not exactly sure how it works, but it uses the GPU, and is somehow 1.5-2x faster than it's closest rival, which again alot of people don't know about, which is called Voukoder. There's a couple videos on youtube about both, but nothing extensive, so just try it, maybe post your result, and give others the gift of faster renders.

Hi! I in progress of selecting parts for new workstation it needs to be capable of handling editing in 8k. The problem is i need to work on DaVinci Resolve (gpu heavy) and Avid Media Composer (cpu heavy). Question is should i go with workstation from dell, lenovo, or other brands, which would had good cpu for Avid but has quadro cards or go with some custom build? I know that recommended cards for DaVinci are RTX, but i don't know is it due to better prices or better performance. So to be clear I'm not sure which components are important for which program. Could some edit masters with knowledge help me? #stayhome
