It looks like SUPER is here to stay, because now even the GeForce GTX cards are getting in on the action. I have an ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 2080 Ti Video Card installed on my new gaming machine. I also have an MSI GForce 2060 RTX card available to put into this machine. My question is, can these two different cards run at the same time in this system? I’m not particularly interested in SLI or crossfire since either card has plenty of memory in addition to my system memory. I would just like to have the option of configuring NVIDIA surround Physx to blend the image across the three screens if I want to at some point.

So, I was hoping that someone with more insight could answer this. Why are Graphics cards only sold as full units? I have 2 reasons for this question: 1. If the end user is going to remove the stock cooler and add a watercooler on, then you could grab cards out of your normal production line before they get a cooler added and sell them for basically the same price. You would be decreasing your costs (don't have to buy a cooler for it) and therefore increase your profit, and you'd end up making the water cooling easier on the enthusiast, by supplying a naked pcb. 2. Because the Graphics card is basically a mini-computer in its own right. Why can't we get a board that can receive a GPU and video RAM like a MB receives RAM and a CPU? There seems to be an under served market for Graphics card customizations. For example, maybe your GPU has plenty of CUs but you need more VRAM. Right now you have to do a whole new card, which is more expensive than a couple sticks of VRAM. It just seems like this is something that should exist, so why doesn't it?

Itching for an upgrade - which path should i take
Shodoman posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
I7-3770 on a z77-extreme 4 with 4x4 GB ram, RX 580 8 GB; 2 HDDs, 2 SSDs, a 550W 80Plus gold PSU. 1080p 144Hz Recently been playing WoW Classic and Warframe but want to get into some Assasins's Creed, Witcher 3, recent FarCry's. Got an offer from a friend to buy his Vega 64 for 210 Euro. Got really excited only to figure out that it was too large for my case. Bought a CM H500 and then found out this card draws 290 W of power :(. At this point I've overstretched my budged once by buying the case. What should i do next? a) forget about upgrading - the CPU and GPU match pretty well so raise some money for an entire new build in 1-2 years. b) wait for Black Friday, maybe 5700XT prices come down enough (~480 Euro at the moment.) c) stretch budget again - buy a 750 W PSU (is this enough?) and then buy the Vega card d) other (please advise)- 17 replies

Can an overclock to your gpu cause the computer to restart? When i tried raising my core clock from 150 to 160 on my gtx 1080ti it caused the system to crash and restart when benchmarking. Is this a normal response from a instable overclock? This has never happened to me before, so im worried it could be my psu maybe from not being able to power my system? Its a 650watt thermaltake.

Howdy! I have just gotten off of disability, but my health is still not good. My laptop (not meant for gaming but makes a valiant effort) and the other computer are about the only things I can do after work wipes me out each day. My youngest daughter's boyfriend sold me the machine for $200 just after I got sick. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. It is a Dell Precision T7500 with dual Xeon 5600 series processors, 12 GB of memory, dual PCIe x16 slots and a 1200W power supply. The link for the specs on the machine can be found here: https://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/precn/Dell_Precision_T7500_Brochure_1_en.pdf The video card that came with it is an MSI R9 280X video card and I know that is not one of the standard cards; it was what my daughter's boyfriend provided for gaming with the box. The system works fine as long as I am not putting too much of a load on it. My game of choice at the moment is Empyrion Galactic Survival, which will run for exactly 4 minutes and 7 seconds, give or take three seconds. Then the system reboots, even if I just bring the game up and do not play it. I have tried other games like Elite: Dangerous Horizons with the same results. I blew out the system and made sure that all fans are clean and operating correctly. cleaned up the CPUs and heatsinks and redid the thermal paste with high quality paste (Thermaltake if I remember correctly). I added monitoring software and watched the temperatures for GPU and CPU's, but everything is running fine, consistently at 27 degrees and the highest temp was 33 degrees. I realize the machine was a server and is not designed for gaming, but it is rated high enough to play games if enough memory is provided (I'm working on getting more, but I have no money as previously stated - the mortgage and feeding the kids comes first). I originally thought it might be the game since it is in alpha, but it runs on every other computer in the house, even my "very much under minimum video requirements" Asus laptop (frame rate is about 3 fps at critical times like when I am being attacked, grrr...) I tried a different video card that did not require the additional power cable connections and was powered by the bus only, and the game ran fine though it was also under powered so had crappy frame rates as well. I suspect the power supply is not able to handle the burst speeds needed for gaming, but I cannot prove it. The GPU runs fine in a newer machine, so I don't think that is the issue. I am happy to provide more information if needed. Thanks in advance for your expertise and advice!

So I am going to build a gaming pc somewhat soon, but I'm not sure what graphics card to get. I'm mainly thinking of getting a gtx 1070 or 1070 ti, but I'm not sure exactly which model to get, as I am on a bit of a price budget. What is the best gtx 1070 or 1070 ti for its price?

Hello all!! To provide a little background: back in 2012-2013 I bought this radeon R9 290x (if I recall correctly) which was dead from the very beginning, I had artifacts on my desktop, and games like shogun 2 and skyrim would show all kinds of artifacts, and flickering. after quite a heated discussion with the company that sold the parts I got the money back and purchased another video card which is the one I had until last week (I still have it). Ever since that event I was quite wary of purchasing AMD again, last week I went ahead and bought this new card, the RX 580, the 8 gb version, in the hopes the r9 situation was only an isolated case. Kind of giving a second chance to AMD. I bought a new system: ryzen 3 2200g, 16 gb of ram, B-450m pro-m2, with 500w 100-w1-0500-kr PSU and put the card in. Started playing witcher 3, and noticed that there were some issues with flickering objects, like they would dissapear for just a frame and the come back again, or that some textures would change to this bright green colour. Ocassionaly I had some big flickering squares in front of me, like black squares. I tried the same in DOOM, rainbow six siege and GTA V, in DOOM I couldn't notice anything out of the ordinary. GTA V was as flickery as witcher 3. And rainbow six had like these problems in which textures extend more than they are supposed to? (I don't really know how to explain it). Temps are ok: 25 Idle, 55-65 under load (sometimes it reaches 70). I have tried clean installing 18.12.3 drivers, and then 18.12.2 and then 17.7.2 (read somewhere that was a stable version someone used). But none of that changed anything. I have yet to try changing the monitor, changing the cables (I've been using the HDMI port), trying my old gtx 960 in the new system trying the new rx 580 in the old system... Is there anything else you feel could change the result? Where I live this stuff is really expensive, and even though I got this on a deal, I still spent 250$ on it. If you have any other suggestions I would love to hear them! I'll keep updating when I try other things!

Im working on my first build and have got alot of help today on all the components I want to use. The only thing im unsure about is if my CPU video card and monitor are all going to work well together. I keep hearing about builds having a bottle neck. I also cant decide if a 1080 ti or just 1080 is worth buying based on the build. I dont plan on trying to run 4k on every game nor do I plan on buying a monitor that is as costly as the computer itself. Long story short, I'm being spoiled by a long-time-no-see father, and I don't want to abuse the budget (and I don't know what the budget is, tbh.) The rest of the specs will be listed below, but right now I am currently running a GTX 980 that a friend gave to me a while back (hindsight I should have let the father decide on buying me a new one), but now the father is insisting I get a 4k monitor (I'm currently using some budget Samsung SyncMaster P2370HD). So I KNOW anything and everything thrown at me will be an upgrade, but I want to try and maximize price vs performance, so please advise. I will be mostly gaming, anything/everything Blizzard (mostly Destiny 2 right now, though, and finally going to play Witcher 3 soon, and Steam games that consoles would port to PC.) From what I understand (and please correct me if I'm wrong,) higher resolution = lower frames with video card. Also, I keep seeing "1ms response" and 144hz refresh for monitors... but all that is beyond me as well. So, TL;DR questions: what monitor should I get for gaming, should I bother with 4k, how much farther should I upgrade the videocard? Please give suggestions, like I said, I don't know the budget and I don't want to abuse the generosity. Here's what I have now, (just going down the long receipt my father paid in cash (!!!??!)) This is a hell of an upgrade for me, my old pc was kind of trash to today's standards. mobo: ASUS TUF Z370 gpu: Nvidia GTX 980 (a friend gave me long ago, IN A TITAN X BOX) cpu: i7 8700k ram: 16gb ddr4 3200 vengeance rgb pro ssd: Samsung 970 evo + some old 7200 I have os: windows 10 home cooler?: Corsair Hydro Dual 120mm 240mm Radiator Power?: P&C Silence 80+Plat 1050w Case: Enermax Equilence Mid w/ Panoramic Glass,, Insulation Panel xtra Fan: SilenX 140x140x25mm + whatever warranty and build cost Fry's Electronics threw at us.... $1800ish! Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance.

Hello there. New to the world of building and upgrading one's PC and would like to know if a graphics card would be or could be wiped clean for a swap to a new motherboard or simply just upgrading and swapping from one CPU to another one. Maybe that sounded fuzzy and/or unclear, sorry. Would me buying a motherboard and a new CPU require me to (before installing the new gear followed by the card) wipe/clean the memory on the card (if even possible) so that there are no complications for the new install? Thank you in advance. Any help is very much appreciated!

Problem: Desktop PC will work normal then just randomly turn the monitor screen black and turn all the PC fans on to the fastest speed possible, rebooting PC solves problem until next randome occurance. Operating system: Windows 10 64bit System specs, including the wattage of your PSU. - Not near PC at this time BIOS version you have: Not near PC at this time Software running when it crashes: Could be anything Error messages and screenshots: Unable to do screenshots and no error messages, Monitor screen goes black and "all" fans in the PC seem to kick on to the highest speed and only wayh to stop it is by rebooting PC. The only fix I have found is by removing my NVIDIA 770 video card and use the onboard video card on the MSI gaming motherboard. I have read forums that say it could be the power supply also. I have swapped out all PS cables that I could with my back up ones but every time I use the card same problem happens eventually. I even took the card apart cleaned it out and added new Thermal glue but same problem presist. I apologize for not having some spec info but I am not near my PC at this time and kinda throwing this out there if anyone else ever experienced it. I can add more PC info after I get home from work to the forum.

Hi everyone! I've searched quite a lot to find an answer to this question, but I'm not convinced I've found any proper solutions... I'll link my build here for reference: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/imabaldeagle/saved/yxWkTW So the issue I'm having is that my 4k monitor will only run at 30hz instead of 60, as it has for most of the time I've owned it. I recently upgraded my build and replaced 2 of my old monitors (both 1080p, one 60hz, one 144hz) with 3 new ones (all 1080p, 144hz). This leaves me with those 3 monitors as well as my 4k monitor. My assumption is that my current video card, EVGA GTX 1070 8GB FTW, isn't powerful enough to run the 3 1080p 144hz monitors alongside the 4k monitor at 60hz. Instead I've had to run the 4k monitor at 30hz. Unfortunately, until the 3080s become available again, I won't have a more powerful graphics card to test this on. I've already ruled out the cable as the potential issue. I'd just appreciate if someone who knows their stuff can confirm my suspicion or potentially provide me with additional troubleshooting options. Thanks guys Edit: I'd like to note that this is my first post, so please let me know if I didn't provide the right information or if I'm violating any rules by posting this and I'll get it sorted out ASAP. Thanks!

Ok, with all the hype on how much more powerful the new 30 series cards are compared to the 2080ti. My question is... How does a single 30's series card compare to a duel 2080ti setup?

Hey so I have had this problem where my system is allocating 8 GB of system ram to my video card. I have had this issue with both my GTX 960 (4 GB) card and my brand new 2070 super. I know this is a feature to prevent windows/games from running out of VRAM but it is ALWAYS stealing 8 gigs of ram no matter how much VRAM is being used, whether I'm in a game or not. I have had to get an extra 16 GB (total of 32 GB) to compensate as I was at 90-95% ram usage even if I just had some chrome tabs open. TO CLARIFY, THE GPU HAS 8 GIGABYTES OF VRAM ON THE CARD ITSELF AND THERE IS AN ADDITIONAL 8 GIGABYTES THAT IS BEING "BORROWED" FROM SYSTEM MEMORY FOR A TOTAL OF 16 GIGABYTES OF GPU RAM. I thought about reaching out to you amazing people as Linus read out a comment during one of his recent streams/vids about this and he wasn't even sure if this was a thing but I assure you it is as I am in the exact same boat. I will list my specs for my system BEFORE and AFTER my recent upgrade. BEFORE MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte Z390 ultra CPU: Intel 9900K @ 5 GHz GPU: 960 (4GB) EVGA RAM/MEMORY: 16 GB corsair DDR4 3200 (RGB) POWER SUPPLY: Evga 750 SSD/M.2: Samsung 970 Evo 500gb AFTER MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte Z390 ultra CPU: Intel 9900K @ 5 GHz GPU: Aorus 2070 Super (NEW) RAM/MEMORY: 32 GB corsair DDR4 3200 (RGB) (NEW) POWER SUPPLY: Evga 750 SSD/M.2: Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB I also attached a picture of my Task Manager view of my GPU tab ANY help would be great thanks!!!!
