Suddenly screen became black. I shut down pc and it still the same. I thought it is about Windows(?). I scanned disk and format. I opened in safe mood. I removed the rams, reset the bios but it didn’t help. I thought it is hardware and i attached the video card to second PCI slot. It opened. (It opened after format but, when i install video driver, it became black screen again interestingly.)Both of slots are the same condition. I am thinking it is about motherboard but i am doubtful. Video card defect must be the problem too. Now, the problem is from PCI slots or my video card? How can i test PCl slots? How can i learn video card is defected or not? I have not another video card or motherboard. GPU-z shows me that video card is attached and system information too. Video card is working but it doesn’t display. Hi, i have asus strix vega 64 and its getting hot, 70s on core and HBM and 90s in VRM, i change thermal paste to thermal grizzly krayonout and pars but still they are getting hot as room temp can reach 30s. i noticed that the backplate gets extremely hot to even touch, i was thinking of gettings heastinks and attach them to the Backplate to cool down the backplate and might also cool down other parts. what do you think?

Hi, I have Asus Strix Vega 64, Core and HBM temps are in the 70s which as i read are acceptable although core clock decrease whenever temps increase. my hotspot and vrm temps on the other hand are in the 90s, does this affect performance similar to core and hbm temps? or it doesnt matter? thanks.

So i bought this new rx 570 asus today. Its working fine unless i install its drivers. "Default Radeon WattMan settings has been restored due to unexpected system failure" and i keep having this kind of error, that lead my pc to restart. I've done reinstalling and uninstalling using ddu a hundred times and i cannot still manage to fix it. I would really appreciate your help.

Good day all, I am new here and this question may have been asked before. I am building a computer for a family member who is handicapped, he does some video editing and rendering for his own pleasure. The software he is using is called "Blender" it is an open source software. I have read the specs on their website and the ideal build is to use 2 video cards. I am having trouble deciding on which ones to get. I am trying to keep the cost down but yet give him the best bang for the buck. In the past I have only built standard computers for work and home no gamer or editing units so the video editing is new to me. Can you help with this. If needed I can give you a list of other parts I am using if that will have bearing on the decision. thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hi all what is the best processor on the market for basically an all round desktop? I will be doing everything on this desktop from editing 4k video to gaming and running my plex server. I have been looking at the i9-9900k, what is everyones thoughts on this. Also what sort of motherboard and video card would you pair with this to achieve high performance for all this. Thanks

Hello all!! To provide a little background: back in 2012-2013 I bought this radeon R9 290x (if I recall correctly) which was dead from the very beginning, I had artifacts on my desktop, and games like shogun 2 and skyrim would show all kinds of artifacts, and flickering. after quite a heated discussion with the company that sold the parts I got the money back and purchased another video card which is the one I had until last week (I still have it). Ever since that event I was quite wary of purchasing AMD again, last week I went ahead and bought this new card, the RX 580, the 8 gb version, in the hopes the r9 situation was only an isolated case. Kind of giving a second chance to AMD. I bought a new system: ryzen 3 2200g, 16 gb of ram, B-450m pro-m2, with 500w 100-w1-0500-kr PSU and put the card in. Started playing witcher 3, and noticed that there were some issues with flickering objects, like they would dissapear for just a frame and the come back again, or that some textures would change to this bright green colour. Ocassionaly I had some big flickering squares in front of me, like black squares. I tried the same in DOOM, rainbow six siege and GTA V, in DOOM I couldn't notice anything out of the ordinary. GTA V was as flickery as witcher 3. And rainbow six had like these problems in which textures extend more than they are supposed to? (I don't really know how to explain it). Temps are ok: 25 Idle, 55-65 under load (sometimes it reaches 70). I have tried clean installing 18.12.3 drivers, and then 18.12.2 and then 17.7.2 (read somewhere that was a stable version someone used). But none of that changed anything. I have yet to try changing the monitor, changing the cables (I've been using the HDMI port), trying my old gtx 960 in the new system trying the new rx 580 in the old system... Is there anything else you feel could change the result? Where I live this stuff is really expensive, and even though I got this on a deal, I still spent 250$ on it. If you have any other suggestions I would love to hear them! I'll keep updating when I try other things!

So I am going to build a gaming pc somewhat soon, but I'm not sure what graphics card to get. I'm mainly thinking of getting a gtx 1070 or 1070 ti, but I'm not sure exactly which model to get, as I am on a bit of a price budget. What is the best gtx 1070 or 1070 ti for its price?

Howdy! I have just gotten off of disability, but my health is still not good. My laptop (not meant for gaming but makes a valiant effort) and the other computer are about the only things I can do after work wipes me out each day. My youngest daughter's boyfriend sold me the machine for $200 just after I got sick. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. It is a Dell Precision T7500 with dual Xeon 5600 series processors, 12 GB of memory, dual PCIe x16 slots and a 1200W power supply. The link for the specs on the machine can be found here: https://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/precn/Dell_Precision_T7500_Brochure_1_en.pdf The video card that came with it is an MSI R9 280X video card and I know that is not one of the standard cards; it was what my daughter's boyfriend provided for gaming with the box. The system works fine as long as I am not putting too much of a load on it. My game of choice at the moment is Empyrion Galactic Survival, which will run for exactly 4 minutes and 7 seconds, give or take three seconds. Then the system reboots, even if I just bring the game up and do not play it. I have tried other games like Elite: Dangerous Horizons with the same results. I blew out the system and made sure that all fans are clean and operating correctly. cleaned up the CPUs and heatsinks and redid the thermal paste with high quality paste (Thermaltake if I remember correctly). I added monitoring software and watched the temperatures for GPU and CPU's, but everything is running fine, consistently at 27 degrees and the highest temp was 33 degrees. I realize the machine was a server and is not designed for gaming, but it is rated high enough to play games if enough memory is provided (I'm working on getting more, but I have no money as previously stated - the mortgage and feeding the kids comes first). I originally thought it might be the game since it is in alpha, but it runs on every other computer in the house, even my "very much under minimum video requirements" Asus laptop (frame rate is about 3 fps at critical times like when I am being attacked, grrr...) I tried a different video card that did not require the additional power cable connections and was powered by the bus only, and the game ran fine though it was also under powered so had crappy frame rates as well. I suspect the power supply is not able to handle the burst speeds needed for gaming, but I cannot prove it. The GPU runs fine in a newer machine, so I don't think that is the issue. I am happy to provide more information if needed. Thanks in advance for your expertise and advice!

Long story short, I'm being spoiled by a long-time-no-see father, and I don't want to abuse the budget (and I don't know what the budget is, tbh.) The rest of the specs will be listed below, but right now I am currently running a GTX 980 that a friend gave to me a while back (hindsight I should have let the father decide on buying me a new one), but now the father is insisting I get a 4k monitor (I'm currently using some budget Samsung SyncMaster P2370HD). So I KNOW anything and everything thrown at me will be an upgrade, but I want to try and maximize price vs performance, so please advise. I will be mostly gaming, anything/everything Blizzard (mostly Destiny 2 right now, though, and finally going to play Witcher 3 soon, and Steam games that consoles would port to PC.) From what I understand (and please correct me if I'm wrong,) higher resolution = lower frames with video card. Also, I keep seeing "1ms response" and 144hz refresh for monitors... but all that is beyond me as well. So, TL;DR questions: what monitor should I get for gaming, should I bother with 4k, how much farther should I upgrade the videocard? Please give suggestions, like I said, I don't know the budget and I don't want to abuse the generosity. Here's what I have now, (just going down the long receipt my father paid in cash (!!!??!)) This is a hell of an upgrade for me, my old pc was kind of trash to today's standards. mobo: ASUS TUF Z370 gpu: Nvidia GTX 980 (a friend gave me long ago, IN A TITAN X BOX) cpu: i7 8700k ram: 16gb ddr4 3200 vengeance rgb pro ssd: Samsung 970 evo + some old 7200 I have os: windows 10 home cooler?: Corsair Hydro Dual 120mm 240mm Radiator Power?: P&C Silence 80+Plat 1050w Case: Enermax Equilence Mid w/ Panoramic Glass,, Insulation Panel xtra Fan: SilenX 140x140x25mm + whatever warranty and build cost Fry's Electronics threw at us.... $1800ish! Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance.

Im working on my first build and have got alot of help today on all the components I want to use. The only thing im unsure about is if my CPU video card and monitor are all going to work well together. I keep hearing about builds having a bottle neck. I also cant decide if a 1080 ti or just 1080 is worth buying based on the build. I dont plan on trying to run 4k on every game nor do I plan on buying a monitor that is as costly as the computer itself. Hello there. New to the world of building and upgrading one's PC and would like to know if a graphics card would be or could be wiped clean for a swap to a new motherboard or simply just upgrading and swapping from one CPU to another one. Maybe that sounded fuzzy and/or unclear, sorry. Would me buying a motherboard and a new CPU require me to (before installing the new gear followed by the card) wipe/clean the memory on the card (if even possible) so that there are no complications for the new install? Thank you in advance. Any help is very much appreciated!
