I bought a used gtx 770 for only 50$, but it didn't come with the bracket that screws onto the case (picture included), so theres absolutely no support putting my pci-e slot at risk for breaking. What should I do to fix this? I'm not looking to spend any money fixing this.

AMD is working on GPU chiplet technology for a future GPU release, but on December 31, 2020 as the world was about to ring in the New Year, AMD submitted a new patent to the USPTO. In the new patent dated December 31, AMD outlines a chiplet design fashioned to mimic a monolithic design as closely as possible. Their hypothetical model uses two chiplets connected by a high-speed inactive interposer called a crosslink. Source 1: https://www.tweaktown.com/news/77034/amd-patent-teases-gpu-chiplet-tech-the-great-big-leap-over-nvidia/index.html Source 2: https://www.techspot.com/news/88138-amd-patents-chiplet-gpu-design-unlike-nvidia-intel.html While both Intel and NVIDIA have their iterations of chiplet-style architectures coming, AMD has already gained tons of experience using chiplet designs similar to this in Ryzen/Zen CPUs already. This technology has allowed AMD to essentially come out of nowhere from nothing, to regaining the performance crown within a few years. AMD claims that compute units can access low-level cache on other chiplets nearly as fast as they can access local low-level cache. If that's accurate, software shouldn't need any updating. This however is not the case with Intel and NVIDIA's designs. Intel is using two new technologies: Foveros and EMIB. NVIDIA describes utilizing a four-chiplet design, alongside a NUMA aware and locality aware architecture (as well as experimenting with a new L1.5 cache - that holds remote data accesses and is bypassed during local memory accesses). While AMD's method sounds the least original or extravagant, it's the most practical as recent history has proven.

Budget (including currency): 500€ Country: Slovenia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Dwarf fortress, Distant Worlds, War Thunder, Deep Rock Galactic, Hell Let Loose will be the main things i wish the get better performence out off. Other details: This all came about when a friend offered me his gtx 970 and i got to think if maybe there were some other parts that are cheapish decent upgrades for my mobo that would keep me running for the near future until i can get more funds together for a proper new build. it would be much appreciated If anyone could provide any help in regards of what parts to pick and if the idea is worthy of pursuit. Current system: CPU - Intel Core i7-920 2.66 GHz Quad-Core Processor (OC to 3GHz) CPU cooler - Intel E29477-002 Socket 1366 Copper Core/Aluminum Heat Sink & 4" Fan w/4-pin Connector up Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 (rev. 1.0) Memory - 12gb 1066MHz ddr3 random old memory Storage - Cruical MX300 500gb SSD and 500gb HDD Video Card - AMD Radeon HD 5870 vaporX 875MHz 1GB Case - Cooler Master HAF 932 Power Supply - LC8850 850W I am thinking of upgrading the CPU, Memory and Video Card. CPU - Intel Core i7-990X Extreme Edition 3.467 GHz 6-Core Processor (found it for 150€ on ebay refurbished) or Intel Xeon W3690 3.46GHz Six Core (used for 80€) I am not sure of the diffrence, but i read that the xeon is just a rebranded 990. I also read that one could OC them to 4+ GHz easly. If someone has more info and mabye could recomend what cooler to use. Memory - Here i have no specifics but acording to the mobo specs i could mount 6 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 24 GB of system memory 2200MHz max, again i would welcome any recomendations. Video Card - As mentioned above a friend has offered me his gtx 970 as he upgraded to the new 3090, for the low price of postage from Lithuania or maybe there are other cheap alternatives on ebay that i have not searched for. Is this a good idea to do, will the rig serve me for another couple of years if i do follow through? Or should i just buy a new mobo, cpu, and memory for 500€ and that will provide me with better performence? Thank you for any replies and sorry if there are any spelling errors.

Hey all, it’s been a while since I’ve posted here.... I have an older PC 4790k 16gb ram a mini ITX mobo with an ACER Predator 2560 x 1080 ultra wide monitor. So my question is: what graphics card should I get to run this monitor at full? I guess I would prefer a Nvidia card only because this monitor has Gsync. Thanks in advance!!!

My sister just got accepted into a masters program for city and regional management. The software they use is pretty intensive and the school recommends a Quadro card. This is their recommended minimum laptop specs: Now, the RTX A6000 and A40 were just announced and I don't know if they'll be in laptops any time soon. I was looking at the RTX 5000 and RTX 6000 cards for a laptop but they're based on Turing architecture which is now already outdated. My question is is it still worth it to go with the Turing Quadro cards for her laptop or could we get away with going with a 30 series GeForce card? I know the Quadro cards are more accurate and allow for higher memory buses and error correcting. But, on a school work level, I feel like she could save some money and go with a 30 series and still be mostly okay and get a bit of a boost in power from the Ampere architecture. But, being I've never used Quadro cards, I feel like I might be wrong here and it might be worth it to stick with a last gen Quadro. Anyone have any insight on this?

Hi everyone! I've searched quite a lot to find an answer to this question, but I'm not convinced I've found any proper solutions... I'll link my build here for reference: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/imabaldeagle/saved/yxWkTW So the issue I'm having is that my 4k monitor will only run at 30hz instead of 60, as it has for most of the time I've owned it. I recently upgraded my build and replaced 2 of my old monitors (both 1080p, one 60hz, one 144hz) with 3 new ones (all 1080p, 144hz). This leaves me with those 3 monitors as well as my 4k monitor. My assumption is that my current video card, EVGA GTX 1070 8GB FTW, isn't powerful enough to run the 3 1080p 144hz monitors alongside the 4k monitor at 60hz. Instead I've had to run the 4k monitor at 30hz. Unfortunately, until the 3080s become available again, I won't have a more powerful graphics card to test this on. I've already ruled out the cable as the potential issue. I'd just appreciate if someone who knows their stuff can confirm my suspicion or potentially provide me with additional troubleshooting options. Thanks guys Edit: I'd like to note that this is my first post, so please let me know if I didn't provide the right information or if I'm violating any rules by posting this and I'll get it sorted out ASAP. Thanks!

Ok, with all the hype on how much more powerful the new 30 series cards are compared to the 2080ti. My question is... How does a single 30's series card compare to a duel 2080ti setup?

I have a 7700k in a b250h (I know why get a unlock CPU with a motherboard that can't overclock - my bad!) and I am looking at upgrading my GPU. I heard the 3070's are going for about 500 USD and would love to upgrade from my 1060 6gb. My question is will a 3070 work on a b250h mobo or should I get a 2070S or even 2080 depending on price reductions at release of the 3000's? TIA Heres the url for 250h https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-B250H-GAMING/

Hey guys, i have a weird one here and i'm all out of ideas. Long story short after removing my old video card, because of my own stupidity i broke the cooler pins, i wanted to use the integrated video from my motherboard, ASrock B450 Pro4, however, after making all changes upon startup the pc beeps 5 times and does not boot up. After doing some research i found out that the 5 beep message is related to the cpu. Even tho it seemed unrelated, i took out the cpu, cleaned it, re-paste and re-seat it in place. But the issue persists, i re-attached every cord and even took out the BIOS battery and re-seat the RAM. CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Any idea is welcomed ! Thank you!

Hello I’ve just recently started having issues when gaming using my GTX 970, after about ten minutes the screen crashes goes black and reads as no display device connected. The only fix is to restart the PC. This instability only occurs when the GPU is being used, if I’m browsing web, using other apps (non gpu intensive) no issues. I just recently updated to the lastest Nvidia driver so that’s updated. I did this after I started having issues, so that’s not cause of it, but has not fixed it. I've run a temp test on the gpu when not under load it stays at around 42-48 celsius and when under heavy load (running forza horizon 4) the temps on the gpu climb all the way to over 90 celsius until ultimately crashing. Any ideas what might be happening here?? Hey so I have had this problem where my system is allocating 8 GB of system ram to my video card. I have had this issue with both my GTX 960 (4 GB) card and my brand new 2070 super. I know this is a feature to prevent windows/games from running out of VRAM but it is ALWAYS stealing 8 gigs of ram no matter how much VRAM is being used, whether I'm in a game or not. I have had to get an extra 16 GB (total of 32 GB) to compensate as I was at 90-95% ram usage even if I just had some chrome tabs open. TO CLARIFY, THE GPU HAS 8 GIGABYTES OF VRAM ON THE CARD ITSELF AND THERE IS AN ADDITIONAL 8 GIGABYTES THAT IS BEING "BORROWED" FROM SYSTEM MEMORY FOR A TOTAL OF 16 GIGABYTES OF GPU RAM. I thought about reaching out to you amazing people as Linus read out a comment during one of his recent streams/vids about this and he wasn't even sure if this was a thing but I assure you it is as I am in the exact same boat. I will list my specs for my system BEFORE and AFTER my recent upgrade. BEFORE MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte Z390 ultra CPU: Intel 9900K @ 5 GHz GPU: 960 (4GB) EVGA RAM/MEMORY: 16 GB corsair DDR4 3200 (RGB) POWER SUPPLY: Evga 750 SSD/M.2: Samsung 970 Evo 500gb AFTER MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte Z390 ultra CPU: Intel 9900K @ 5 GHz GPU: Aorus 2070 Super (NEW) RAM/MEMORY: 32 GB corsair DDR4 3200 (RGB) (NEW) POWER SUPPLY: Evga 750 SSD/M.2: Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB I also attached a picture of my Task Manager view of my GPU tab ANY help would be great thanks!!!!

Below is the letter I wrote to Arctic about the Product Accelero Twin Turbo III if you have one of these a strongly suggest you check your Blue Thermal Pads to be sure your card is not killed the same way mine was. If you did not install the back heat sink this will not apply to you and the product seems to work perfectly until the following happened. They have yet to follow up with me and I will keep you posted. TL;DR the thick thermal pads leaked a sort of fluid on to my card wetting it and causing it to short out. I hope they handle this. I am very upset and my Gaming PC is down until I buy a new GPU. Their cheaper fans seem to preform pretty close to the level of equivalent be quiet! and Noctua at a much lower cost and their higher end fans are pretty (IMO) so im not hating on them but this product cost me my videocard which is bad. I bought this card in 2016 at the height of Crypto mining and it cost almost $400. The MSI Armor fans sounded like a jet taking off which is why i chose this product. It was installed and worked for 90ish days. The letter is as follows: "On Jan 6th (2020) I purchased a Accelero Twin Turbo III And received it about a week later and installed it as per directions onto my MSI Armor RX580 8GB Everything was quiet and running smoother than ever. I purchased a 5 pack of Arctic p120 PWM fans and 2 more Arctic BioniX P120 for other computers I was building because I liked your products so much, I was impressed. I build many systems a year for others. On May 8th my MSI RX580 failed while running Chitubox 3d printing slicing software, which is a very light 3D application. After many tries to restart I put a different Gigabyte RX580 in its place and it booted right up and ran the same Chitubox software with ease. This brings me to today and why I'm writing. I decided it was time to take the Artic Accelero Twin Turbo III (we will call it ATT3 from here) cooler off. I found something rather odd and unexpected. The thermal pads that interface the rear side of the VRM's has leaked a sort of greasy wet onto the RX580 and and heat spreader, each of them bleed this fluid onto the board so badly it caused the board to short out, causing the few hundred dollar issue. My video card sits vertically in my Deepcool Tristellar case and this fluid was also found dripping down the PCB board and pooling toward the bottom where the main VRM row sits. This liquid was also found between the plastic shield and the VRMs heat spreader. I feel very ill about this happening. I paid US $48.93 for the ATT3 the MSI RX580 that sells for 189.99 today I paid more for it when purchased because of the Crypto mining craze. and had to buy another video card as a replacement to the Rx580 since the Gigabyte is for another persons system that is waiting on parts. For the understanding, Im a bit beyond hobby building PC's and avid gaming ,I'm 47 and have been system building since I was 23 in the days of Cyrix 686's and Voodoo video cards alot has changed since then but one thing i think we can all agree on is you don't want any part of your system Wet except the inside of a watercooler which i dont use for the very implications that they can leak. I have pictures of all of this. Please let me know something on this." As you can see from the included pictures its very wet and this is after its been sitting off for a few days while waiting for another videocard. Anyone else experience anything like this? BTW i live in Florida and my PC sits atop a pedestal behind my large monitor in a corner where it would be impossible to get wet. my Tristellar is run without the shell over the videocard and the right shell has large opening cut to allow tons of air to pass my mainboard. While the power supply and HD dock side is left stock. System make up: Ryzen 5 2600, WD M.2 Black 1TB w/o cooler (the board has a cooler fin for it) 3 different WD HHD's equaling 12 TB of additional storage and back ups Noctua low profile CPU cooler be quiet 120mm system fan Gigabyte B450 Arorus I WIFI Micro ITX G.skill ram 3000mhz speed, no RGB, dont remember exact modules Phanteks Neon RGB 400mmX4 lighting the front of the case. Seasonic gold+ 700 semi modular Gamestorm/Deepcool Tristeller case which has been modded to be mostly open air especially the GPU and sits high up on over my monitor. Yes I post this here which is a more detailed account of how I figured out it was the video card. Sorry this post is so long!

What if Linus were to make his own video card? If he trashed NVIDIA then why doesn't he make his own or his team make a custom gpu that would surpass NVIDIA's 2080 ti, or Titan, and AMD's Vega 64 and 5700?

My dudes, the yellow circle the thingie blew up.... is this thing dead for good, or can a electronic repair guy get another thingie and re solder it... this is an Asus STRIX 1080ti if that matters any.... For those wondering, a copper heatsink slid off the so called "ADHESIVE" tape that turns out wasn't so freakin adhesive'y, and touched the capacitor thingy causing a short I guess and blowing it up... thanks for any help
