http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Xeon-W3565-vs-AMD-FX-8320/m6324vs1983 Question is, if a Xeon chip such as the Xeon W3565 Quad Core, 8 Threads, 3 ghz is performing kind of similarly to the old Fx 8320 chip, how come they're so little people building with this budget cpu? Is finding motherboards difficult? Is the wattage too high? I've read that Xeon's are bad at single core performance since they are usually high core/thread counts, but this one is a kind of standard 4 core 8 thread cpu.

So, I am currently building a completely non-budget desktop computer. See here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/R9sR8K But that is beside the point, I still want to have a touchscreen laptop. I currently have a touchscreen Chromebook, that I dropped and killed the touch capability. I also don't particularly like ChromeOS. My main computer right now is a 17 inch laptop: http://www3.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/z-series/z70-80/ (mine is a variant with an i7-5500U 2.4Ghz dual core w/ hyperthreading and a GTX 840 M gpu) I hate that damn Lenovo now. The chassis is horrible, the screen looks nice (apart from the dead pixels) I have had to send it in for repairs twice, and It doesn't play games good. I am honestly done trying to game on laptops. What I really want is a under $1000 Laptop with a good touchscreen and a 1080 screen that has reasonable color accuracy. I am not sure if anything like this exists. I was hoping to stay below 15 inches, and I would prefer 13 inches. I would prefer it to be a 2 in 1, but that isn't a must have. I am planning on looking into this myself, I just wanted to see what this forum had to say about it. (honestly if the inspiron gaming 7000 had a touch screen variant I would buy it instantly) Dedicated graphics are not required. This is more for workstation/ watching videos / standard internet browsing purposes. I would prefer a 500 GB + SSD, If I have to go down to 256 GB I will. Spinning storage is a no go. Sorry for my potentially bad grammar/ sentence structure. plz help this is my chromebook: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/models/laptops/acerchromebookr11 (I have the 2GB ram version) ~Adam (right now I am SUPER upgrading my hardware while I have a job - I am going back to school full time at the end of August) (I am also planning on buying a mirrorless camera and other things going forward.)

Well guys, it has come time where I must sell my rig for finacial reason. I love my baby to death but it's time to let her go. I made it back in 2014 and it was quite a decent build back then but I know there have been many upgrades that have come out recently for a fraction of the price of some of my parts but much more powerful. Just looking to get an idea on how much I could get for the rig. Would selling it all together or parting it out bring me the most cash? (Custom prices listed are what I paid for specific parts.) Hello, The worst happened and my Asus Zenbook UX302LG-C4014H broke on Monday (shut down, didn't turn on again). It had the same issue earlier but warranty was still valid so Asus fixed it for free (changed the motherboard). I bought it for 1500€ (around 1700 USD) when it was released here on January 2014. I took it to a local PC store where they said it's completely dead, most likely a broken motherboard (again...). The motherboard is hard to find anymore and even if it was replaced the chances are it still wouldn't work / would break later again. Luckily my insurance company will cover part of the damage by paying me the value of the laptop (today's value). So here I am left with the insurance money and a broken ultrabook. The PC store offered to buy the broken machine (guess for the spare parts), the man said he could offer 50€ straight away so there should be some room for negotiation. Should I sell it? I don't have any use for a broken laptop since it can't be fixed / would cost too much to be worth it. If yes, what do you think about the value of it? Lets assume the motherboard is indeed broken but everything else in it works. Thank you a lot in advance! - Edea

i5 8600 OC vs i7 8700 vs ryzen 7 1700 oc
Falconbruh posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Can the i5 8600K @ 5GHz match the i7 8700 non-k @ 4.6GHz or Ryzen 7 1700 with or without OC Bear in mind that Ryzen comes with a cooler but ram costs more and Intel needs an am cooler and more expensive mobo. Also, i5 with delinquent cooler ~equals i7 non-k in price. Prices: -i5 8600k (269), -r7 1700 (282), -i7 9700 (320-330), -also, r5 1600 for 189 I play games, consume multimedia and work (lightly for now) on pc can smn clear things up??? Thanks -
Hi guys, I'm here to plan my next build. Currently, I'm sitting on a Sleeper HP Desktop ( i5-2400, 1050Ti, 8GB RAM ). I currently have some money in hand, and wonder if I could get something good with this. So I have $500AUD ( which equals 384USD, 289 Pounds, 329EUR, 494CAD as of 8:23PM 1/11/2017 AEST ) I don't really expect much of a performance boost because it is surely a small amount of money. I'd prefer switching to a Micro-ATX case, as I usually move the desktop around and ATX is kinda heavy and Mini-ITX seems expensive. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi everyone I've been thinking about getting a 3D printer but I have no idea what to get. I have a budget of around 1000Euro. One thing I'm looking for is value, if it need be I can increase the budget. In addition to that is fillament printer specific or universal? If it is printer specific can you look out for a printer with reasonable fillament prices? The machine should be able to work with PLA and ABS, any more materials would be great Shoot any questions my way! Thank you very much in advance Tugas

Hello fellow members of the LTT community, I'm trying to find good bang-for-your-buck bluetooth earbuds under $100 to use during the shcool year, any suggestions? I'm looking specifically for good sound quality, comfort, and magnets in the back of the drivers so I can keep them around my neck without worrying that they'll fall on the ground. Hi guys, I'm looking to sell an old rig for a friend of mine, and I'm wondering what you guys think a fair asking price might be. I don't have a ton of experience with selling so I'd prefer to get some opinions beyond my own guess. Here are the specs: i5-3570k GTX 960 8gb ram (2x4gb) 100gb SSD 500gb hdd 430w psu Mini itx motherboard/case Thanks for the opinions and help!

Do you guys think a KFA2 GTX 780 HOF is a good value for 110 euros? I could get a gtx 690 for around 140 euros, but i'm concerned about the 2gb vram per gpu which I think is very little for current games.. I also found a gtx 970 for 140 euros, maybe I could convince the seller to sell it to me for 130 but he hasn't responded yet. All above cards are used, the 970 not as much as the other two apparently if the seller tells the truth. I don't want to spend a fortune on a brand new graphics card as of now, but I thought of upgrading a bit on my current r9 270x as maybe I will use it in another computer. As for the prices, I live in Slovakia, parts are pretty expensive here, a new 1050ti costs around 150eu and a 1060 3gb around 210.

I am planning my first pc build and am kind of stumped with the graphics card. Should I buy a Zotac - GeForce GTX 1050 2GB Mini Video Card, with a base clock speed of 1.35GHz, or a XFX - Radeon RX 460 4GB Video Card with a base clock speed of 1.09GHz. So what i'm saying is, is the extra 2gb of memory worth the .26GHz clock speed reduction. Which asset should be valued most in a gpu, the memory or clock speed?

Okay so I just bought a Strix GTX 1080ti. I currently have a crappy 1080p monitor that would be hard pressed to get $30 on craigslist. I have $500 to spend. Do I go 4k(Asus PB287Q) or 2k (Dell S2716DG)?

Hello everyone! It's been since Nehalem that I've been up to date with the latest in computer hardware. I can't image I ever thought I'd lose track of tech back then, but I did. I haven't built a PC since my Q6600, 8800gt. And guess what, it's still going strong. The GPU gave out after 6 years of service, so I replaced it with a 560Ti. But It's been over 10 years, and the 5200rpm hard drives are making me realise how slow it is. 10 years is a nice number and it's time to retire the old lady and start anew. Alot has changed though so I had some catching up to do. I did my best, but I'm here in the hopes that some of you might point out some flaws or help me along the final stretch. Goals: Max €1600 from azerty.nl for everything in the computer, no peripherals. If the upgrade is exponentially better then I can warrant the extra expenses. But at higher prices this is often not the case and expenses are often exponential instead of performance gains. Top of the line, but nothing overkill. I think I'm gonna use a 1080p display for gaming, but I might considering to higher resolutions later on. Compatibility !! Watercooled Expandability to the future. Parts that I've chosen after some research: This is where I can definitely use some help. Apparently there are now new and wild things like M.2, U.2, DDR4 and such roaming around in the world of computers. Crazy times indeed. CPU: i7 - 7700K - 4.2Ghz - €355. Is it really worth waiting until 2018 for Coffee Lake? I don't think I should jump onto the 'rushed' X299? MOBO: AORUS GA-Z270X-Gaming 7 - €230. I think the price bump is warranted for the added features over the Gaming 5 (SLI, ...) RAM: G.Skill Trident Z - DDR4 - 3200MHz - 2x8GB - €165. Are the higher speeds worth the vast increase in price? Good brand still? HDD: Samsung 960 EVO 500GB - €235. I like this new M.2 standard CASE: H440 NZXT New Edition - €113. Seems to be a good, simple, no-nonsense case. Fits the H115i? COOLER: Corsair H115i Extreme - €127. Looks awesome GPU: Gigabyte GTX1070 - Windorce OC - 8GB - €465. I like the thought of having the best GPU for once :p. The Xtreme seems to be cheaper than the regular one as well. PSU: Corsair RM750x - 80 Plus gold - €119. This seems adequate for the GPU/CPU combo. €1809. As you can see I've gone over my Budget a bit :p. Some questions: Any thoughts? Is it worth saving up the extra €300 Is compatibility good? Any better suggestions? Did I forget anything? Is there some tech that I might consider waiting for? Like Coffee Lake or GTX2070? Thanks everyone, I'm looking forward to everyones criticism :p. Dries

basically the title, how would you go about getting a number out of the performance and the price that could be compared? say cooler one costs €50 and puts the CPU at 80C and cooler two costs €60 and puts the CPU at 65C how would you go about compareing the two? temp times cost? degrees under 100C per euro? im haveing a hard time comming up with an easy number to just compare for this. thanks for any help and any replis

I was just wondering what you guys would value an i7 920 at, 5870 Vapor X, as well as a P6TD Deluxe motherboard at. The CPU and GPU haven't been used for over 5 years, and neither have ever been overclocked. There aren't any listings where I am (Durham Region, Ontario) on Kijiji. Anyway, let me know what you guys would be willing to pay and what you think would be a fair price for the components. Thanks. :} P.S. I'm on lunch break right now, so I won't be able to response for a while.

I have a pair of RX 480 8GB cards right now. I haven't sold them because I was given the cards by an AMD marketing rep at an AMD sponsored event, so I haven't wanted to get rid of them. Now, I'm considering selling them and buying a Vega 64. I know that the price of these cards is way up because of cryptocurrency mining. However, I came across this Ebay listing, which has AMD RX 480 8GB cards, not reference cards produced by another manufacturer (XFX, Sapphire, etc.), at what seem to me like prices higher than they should be. This got me thinking: Would AMD reference cards be more valuable than other reference cards, and if so, how much? Also, if anyone happens to be interested in buying the cards, I'm open to offers.
