Hi everyone! would anyone be interested in an app that would allow tracking used hardware prices? Couple of years ago I started a project for an app that would allow tracking prices of used computer hardware. I've been developing it solo as a side-project, so it took some time but also allowed me to accumulate a significant amount of data - I have over 2 years of historic offerings (currently it's only ebay) for some of the names. I've finally finished the alpha version of the android client that actually displays price graphs, watchlists, etc. It's quite lightweight, written in flutter, so it's crossplatform and I have plans of releasing it on iphones as well in the future. I would be really really glad if this project would be of interest to the LTT community and you would consider checking it out - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.finitefield.hardwareboerse It has to be in testing available to join by this link, It's an alpha, so there definitely might be bugs, and it requires an email registration as a precaution against data retrieving api being abused. Couple of screenshots attached, Please comment or contact development@hardwareboerse.com if you would like to check it out but are experiencing access issues

Hello! A friend of mine is selling his used mining GPUS after the recent crypto drop. The specific card that I'm interested on is a RTX 3070 TUF OC, the card is still under the warranty period, the guy had the gpu for like 10-11 months. He is selling me the card for like two thirds of the original current price in my country. I don't know if its best to wait since this is a used gpu and its actually not a bargain. There are rumours of the rtx 4000 series coming at the end of this year but I'm assuming that I could get one in stock and that the prices wont be ridiculously high. So what do you think? edit: I know that the card ran with an undervolt, in a room with good airflow and low temps

Hello everybody, Recently bought used 1080ti assembled by Zotac. Gpu looked fine, good old furmark ran fine and card was not overheating. Allegedly seller said it wasn’t disassembled. After returning home tried to play some games, they would crash. Some would work for a little. Cyberpunk never launched, always crash while loading benchmark. Most of benchmarks run fine. Tried drivers, DDU, bios flash, give case more air, stronger PSU, different systems. Card says it’s not overheating, decent 70 degrees. So I decided to disassemble it since I know I was scammed. Die and heatsink is wrecked. Is it beyond saving? What could be the issue with crashing? High temp pockets?

As the title says, I am on the hunt for a nice, used laptop I can use for school and light gaming in my downtime at work. (Others have brought their own laptops, a Switch and even a mobile VR rig.) I'm currently looking right now, but there's so much to sort through.. Here are my "Prerequisites:" - 15.6" Display or bigger, 1080p would be nice but not necessary - 2017 or newer (Preferably, but not necessary) - Core i5 / Ryzen 3 / Ryzen 5 - At least average battery life (What, 6ish hours? I've never owned a laptop before.) - Windows 10 Home/Pro 64-bit - Replaceable/Upgradable SSD/HDD, RAM, Battery - No Touchscreen if I can avoid it - Absolute max budget of $350 I have absolutely no problem buying used or refurbished hardware. I have never owned a laptop before, so I'm looking for any and all advice! Thanks a bunch!

Hi, I'm on a tight budget, i live in Lebanon and therefore dont have a wide variation of options. After watching and reading some reviews I went with a used ViewSonic 144hz 24 monitor (120$). However after some usage I didn't like it, I had an ips 60hz monitor before. The main bummer was the colors, compared to my old ips monitor, the colors feel dull and my eyes hurt, there is no life to them, I tried tweaking the settings but nothing changed. but to be honest maybe all tn panels are similar, I don't know. Also that the best settings for gaming are not good for reading, and you cant save certain preset like ZOWIE XL2540. What I loved is the built in mics and the adjustability. Now I increased my budget to 150-200$ also for 1080p 144hz 24inch monitors but with better colors and perks, I think these settings suites me and my pc (3060, i5 10400) well. I saw many used options but I'm lost at what to look at (brand, date of manufacturing or what? since they all share same resolution, response time, size and refresh rate), I ONLY INCLUDED MOINTORS FROM 2019 ONWARDS (dont know but thought they could have better technology and at max used 3 years) here's what I found: Acer KG1 27" 2020 (140$) Acer KG1 24" 2020 (175$) AOC 24G2 2019 (150$) HP Omen 25 FHD 2019 (200$) LG 24GL600F 2019 (150$) Lenovo Legion Y25f-10 2019 (140$) What do you think guys, I'm strongly considering the AOC 24g2 since its ips pannel and the cheapest.

I'm buying a 3090 used and I want to know If there are any special physical features the 3090 has over others. I know that the size is massive but I'm not good with scale so I won't notice that it's a 3090 or a 3080. I want to know because I don't want to buy a 3070 or something and get swindled The one I'm looking at is a zotac Trinity

How feasible and how long would it take to snatch a used RX 6800 for $400 or 6800 XT for $450 after shipping + tax (7.75% in CA) in an eBay auction? Seems kind of silly how close the new and used prices are, but I'm willing to stick to that price point for as long as it takes. Just curious, is this a lost cause?

So I had a B150M4-C43 motherboard by ECS, it has shorted out and maybe beyond repair because of unavailability of a donor board. I've got two choices as of now, get a refurbished compatible motherboard from non reputed brand, or I could get a used motherboard. In both cases, I'm thinking about the security concerns associated with them. Can there be security risks in using either boards? Or am I just being extra paranoid?

I have the option to buy a new 3060ti from Palit or INNO3D, for about 460 euros in Germany in January, or I could buy a used Gigabyte 3060ti in good condition right in my home town (in Serbia), so I could probably even test it before buying it. A new 3060ti here in Serbia is around 580 euros, which is why I am considering buying it in Germany, but then I have to wait one more month. I am not really in a rush and it is not a problem to wait another month if the new card is a better option. Which is the better option and is a used 3060ti worth 400 euros?

Hi, I am new here. So I'll introduce myself first, I guess. I am from Indonesia and I have been following the PC hardware community for a long time (including this forum), but recently I decided to make an account and post here. I have a question. My situation is that I am into PSUs lately. Just now I discovered that my old/secondary build, that has an i7 2700k and a GTX 960 in it, is powered by a somewhat mediocre Xigmatek Tauro 500 W PSU. Now I know it isn't a crap tier PSU and it has been running fine for ages, but considering that this thing has been running since 2012 I am a little bit worried that it will pose some threats to my safety. I am considering replacing this PSU with something better, but PSUs are extremely expensive here. The best PSU that my budget allows is the BQ 500W System Power U9. But upon deeper research I came across this used Seasonic SS-560KM (yes, it says X-650, but on the description the seller said they only have the 560 for now) for around the same price. I know that the SS-560KM is one of the best PSUs Seasonic ever made (with respect to time, that is). If I have done my research correctly, it should be miles ahead of the BQ U9. However, I am a bit hesitant on this. I have been buying second hand parts (CPUs, GPUs, RAMs) with relatively good results and Motherboards and HDDs with mixed results. I've never thought of buying a used PSU myself, but I reckon getting something that was once really strong like that Seasonic PSU shouldn't be a problem right? With that being said, if you have done this before, can you share on what experiences you had? What would be the most important questions to ask? Manufacturing date, warranty seal, what the PSU was formerly used for, anything else? Maybe you guys can light me on this. Thanks!

I'm in the us. I'd like to stay as close to $400 without peripherals as possible. It would be strictly for gaming. Mainly games like ark, atlas, last oasis. I have no problem at all with used parts just don't know what to buy. I can physically assemble the machine I just don't know what parts to buy to make it work. I already have a new 2.5" 250g ssd and a 1tb hybrid ssd. I also have a older asus g751j I don't mind cannibalizing if it can be used in any way. I work on manufacturing equipment. I'm perfectly comfortable building stuff I just need advice on what parts to use. I would also like this to be a build project for my daughter and myself as well. So some extra work is ok. Thank you

I would please like to know if the 980 Ti or 1070 are more worthwhile for a used upgrade for my system, I understand the architecture benefits of the 1070, but at the same time the 980 Ti is cheaper on ebay (US), and please someone help me decide

Hello all, I am looking for some advice/suggestions for a recent prebuilt I picked up. I saw this beauty on the used market and managed to snag it for $150 : https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-ideacentre-720-18asu-desktop-amd-ryzen-5-series-8gb-memory-1tb-hard-drive-silver/5887606.p?skuId=5887606 Specs: Ryzen 5 1400 1tb WD Blue HDD Radeon R5 340 2gb GPU 8gb (2x4gb) 2400mhz RAM 250w Lenovo Proprietary PSU Everything works perfectly Here's the deal: I'm unsure if I should upgrade it to sell for a potential larger profit, sell as is for some profit, or turn it into some type of home server thingy Potential upgrade I had in mind: Add a small SSD boot drive Swap gpu for a GTX 1650 swap ram for 16gb (2x8gb) kit Questions for this potential upgrade route: The lenovo case doesn't have much ventilation so I am worried that thermals may be an issue. It has one exhaust fan in the back and large side vent. Would thermals be an issue even though the 1650 is such a low power card? It would most likely be a single fan card for dimension reasons. I estimate that these upgrades would bring the total project cost to about $370-$400 usd. How much do you think I'd be able to sell it for? Another issue is the GPU's psu requirement. The upgraded specs according to pcpartpicker would draw close to 180w of total power, definately under 250w. I am worried because the 1650 has a minimum of a 300w psu need. I would get a new psu but because it doesnt use standard connectors (thanks lenovo) this would't be impossible with the oem motherboard. Would this be ok? Or is there an adapter I can buy?

I want to sell my 8600K + Asus Prime z370 + 16 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000 MHz + BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4. I have no idea of what the parts are worth in the used marked and never sold PC hardware before. Can anyone point me in the right direction in terms of pricing? (Germany)

I'm considering switching from Mac to PC, because, to be honest, no one uses a XBOX to play games (at least in my area), so I've always been stuck to playing solo or single player games. Also, as I just recently switched from iPhone to Android, it seems like Windows has a better integration with Android than Mac. The thing that worries me about switching is that a Mac holds its value pretty well, while I've heard that Windows laptops like to lose their value 80% over a year. What percentage price drop should I count with, with non-apple laptops (to narrow it down, I'm mainly thinking about Dell)?

So I am looking to build a pc at the moment and I keep seeing that the GTX 1080 ti can out preform quite alot of the stuff like how it can beat the RTX 2060 and 2060 s and goes just above the rtx 2070 s by 10%. Is it worth the money for buying the gtx 1080 ti second hand or should I just get a rtx 2070 super brand new? PS. Sorry if the wording is bad

Hey guys, I was wondering what the risk was buying a used computer since you never know what people are clicking on these days. If i got a computer that has malware or Spectre/Meltdown on its CPU? How would i know and then how would i get rid of it? Is it worth buying it used to save money?
