I'm selling my current laptop for something that is still powerful but very portable. I've been look at convertibles and tablet PC options as a choice. The lenovo thinkpad yoga is on the top of my list at the moment. I'd be using it for normal internet surfing, video watching that type of thing with light gaming that it could handle. On the other side I would use it for work in web development and photoshop when I'm away from my main machine If anyone has used it please give me your feedback about it. The good, the bad and would you still go with the yoga if you had the choice or something else? Thank you!

Hello! Thank you for stopping by to help me with my issue, it's GREATLY appreciated! -----------------The GPU I am using is a Diamond Radeon HD 7970 I bought in May of 2013-------------------- Okay, so here is the problem... in MSI afterburner my GPU (on random occasions, for seemingly no reason) spikes WAY up from 0 GPU usage % in afterburner to 85%, 91% and recently went as high as 152% which I didn't even know was possible. the spikes are not constant, and only last a fraction of a second before going back down to 0, they can continue in a long string for a few seconds, or sometimes there is only 1-3 spikes before it stays at zero for quite a while, it seems I can get the spikes to stop by playing an on disk video, like a wmv file, playing it during one of the "spike episodes". though it could just be coincidence, since it's hard to gauge, as the spiking frequency is erratic, it can be as little as one spike every minute, to 1 spike every second for 20 seconds. These spikes occur whether I'm connected to the internet or not, I have unplugged the ethernet cord from my computer, and the spikes can go on for another few minutes, or seconds, depending on that specific "episode" of spikes. These spikes do not appear to affect my actual GPU clocks, temp, or fan speed, as the spikes can go on for a bit without the temp, fan, or clocks moving at all. Spikes appear at the same numbers in GPU-Z as they do afterburner, but the spikes seem to not appear, or at least not appear as high when using the Process Explorer, and they aren't ever consistent, my usage doesn't sit at a constant high value, but only spikes for a brief moment before returning to 0-ish. - Footnots on above paragraph for convenience - - GPU Spiking randomly to 81, 85, 91, and even 152% - Spikes happen when connected to the internet, or not, it doesn't appear to matter - Spikes seem to not affect the clock speeds, temperature, or fan speed of GPU - Spikes appear in both Afterburner, and GPU-Z, but not at all in Process Explorer (or at least to a lesser degree) Now, some background here, for the last 2 days I have been doing self trouble shooting, my first assumption based on internet searches, was that perhaps I had a bitcoin miner virus installed, but the symptoms for those are generally more aggressive, causing high usages for consistent periods of time, as well as causing high temperatures and fan speeds (which don't occur for me), but since I am paranoid about viruses and malware, I have scanned with AVG free, malwarebytes anti-malware, Malwarebytes anti-rootkit, TDSS Killer, and Hitman Pro, they have all come up clean, aside from a few tracking cookies or so, I have scanned with all these files in both normal mode, and safe mode. I also scanned with Rogue Killer, none of the found files or processes were "red" but there were some orange PUPs, I'm not entirely sure if they are dangerous but they appear to not be, I left them alone to stay on the safe side, I can list them below for reference if you think it could be a cause. So, basically all my scans came up empty. My next step was of course to figure out what was causing the usage, so I go into the task manager and try to find sketchy processes, but having looked them over and googling a lot, they seem to be legit, and since nothing is coming up on virus scanners, idk. So, I decided Task Manager was unreliable, so I downloaded a program through microsofts subsidiary website called "Process Explorer" it's basically task manager on steroids. I set tabs to show GPU Usage, but there didn't appear to be any processes listed using up GPU stuff, aside from things I already knew about, or had open, like flux, a browser, dwm.exe, CCC.exe, and Razer Synapse. I assumed the issue would appear upon closer graph inspection in Process Explorer, so I opened it to compare real-time to the spikes as they were happening on afterburner through the GPU Engine viewer in Process Explorer, spikes did seem to appear in Process Explorer, but they were much smaller, and being used by specific programs, or the dwm.exe, Perhaps the spikes were the same, but maybe Process Explorer maps out on a smaller scale? The percentages weren't showing up as high as they were in MSI or GPU-Z, but I don't know if it's because of a difference in usage reading between the programs or not. But this also seemed like a dead end, so on I went. From there I did some more troubleshooting, I deleted local temp folders, closed unecessary processes like adobe update, and these things didn't seem to make a difference, I tried updating my gpu drivers to the latest version, I tried updating MSI afterburner, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling the updated version, and none of these things seem to make a difference. Attached are images of the problem, as well as variants - The FIRST Image is the spikes going up to 150 just a little bit after using the FURMark Benchmark - The SECOND Image is the GPU Spikes on a regular inconsistent line, just a standard spike instance - The THIRD Image is the GPU spikes and what happens at the End when I play a local wmv video during the spike instance. - The FOURTH Image is the GPU Usage Spikes alongside the GPU monitoring and Engine graphs in Process Explorer SO Linus TechTips, I have come here, created an account and beg you for an answer as a last resort, as I still have no idea what the issue is, keeping in mind EVERYTHING I've already tried, I would love some input on how to go about solving this issue ps. What are the odds of a bitcoin mining virus going undetected by all the scans I've run? Also, in malwarebytes post scan results, when I hit view details, it says at the top part "malware protection disabled" above "website protection disabled" I assume this is talking solely about realtime protection? **EDIT** UPDATE** Okay, so a little update, I managed to stumble upon a sort of recreation of results. I am able to cause the spikes myself (sometimes) by going into afterburner, hovering over the graphs on the right with my mouse, until I get the window popup, and then proceeding to put my mouse over the popup window in after burner, and sort of just move it around over the window as the window is trying to close, this will cause spikes of a random size, but it doesn't always happen. The first time I did it it was causing 89+ spikes, a while after it was causing spikes up to 50%, and after it was only causing spikes of 5... I'm not sure what's going on. Also, I left the computer running with afterburner open overnight with the internet unplugged making sure to log the data, and I was able to both recreate the spikes with the method just mentioned, but the spikes would also happen every few minutes to every few dozen minutes, to one spike every hour maybe as I left it running overnight, and these happened seemingly at random. I'm not sure what this means, but all I know is I am able to cause spikes in afterburner if the conditions are met, I'm not entirely sure what the conditions are at the moment though. **UPDATE 2** Through some more digging it also seems my "csrss.exe" in Process ecplorer shows constant GPU Usage, not too big of deal, except when I force the spikes in afterburner using the method above, the csrss.exe GPU usage spikes as well, and I have 2 instances of csrss.exe running in Process explorer, only one shows up in task manager unless I check "processes from all users", both csrss.exe files go to the same file location when opened via task manager or Process Explorer. I don't know what signifigance this holds.

Hi, recently I've had this problem where my pc stutters at some point in time, upon checking, I am at 99% ram usage.. Usually I just restart it, and it goes back fine at 20%. After a few days, when I start my pc, it goes up to 60%+, even when restarting, its the same.. Checked on google, they said use CCleaner. Haven't tried it though. But right now, as I booted my pc, its at 77% with uTorrent, Soundblaster, RealTek and KillerLan on the system tray. Opened chrome, now its at 82%. Normally this load should be not more than 40% ram usage. When I try to close everything, it doesn't go down.. Specs i5 4460 msi b85 g43 gaming 8gb 1333 kingston value ram 120gb crucial m500 1tb wd blue windows 8.1 May I know what causes this? What would be the solution? Thanks!

Peace Guys! Sorry 4 my bad english beforehand Since quiet a time i have been thinking about building my first own PC, but since im 16 i don't have atm the bucks or time to work for buying the components. Yesterday i found in the basement of my uncle an iMac and my uncle told me that it doesnt work anymore (bascicly the hard disk is screwed or something similar) and he would have to pay about 200€ to let smoeone fix it. So he said I can have it. The iMac is "pretty" new from 2012/2011 and it includes a solid i5 CPU and a sufficient GPU for the beginning, so my question is: Can I take the hardware of the iMac and build it simply into a towercase (for further upgrades etc)? (would there be anything "special" I have to care about?) I would really appreciate your help!

What Keyboard does linus use on a daily basis? I saw him mention it in this vid: but I don't know how to spell it. I'm looking for a good backlit mechanical keyboard with programmable buttons because my old mac keyboard really just annoys me, and because linus mentions his keyboard, I wanted to see if I like his. (btw I'm using my mac keyboard on my windows gaming pc)

Question Part 1: I have a single loop for my CPU set up by my grandfather about 2 years ago. It has not been maintained in any way, I had zero clue there was maintenance to be done on these systems & since I wasn't a part of the build, I didn't learn anything. I do not plan on using the cpu block again, however, I would like to know if it's possible to reuse the Pump/res combo ( http://www.xs-pc.com/discontinued-eol/x2o-750-dual-bayrespump-acrylic-v4 ) or the radiator (30mm x 240mm) for my next build. I'm now wholly aware that I probably have at the very least some corrosion on my CPU block. I saw some dude post about thinking his rad was corroded but turned out to be oxidation instead and he just needed to flush it out. Unfortunately, I have no way of disassembling my rig until 9/28/14(about 2 weeks from now) to physically drain/inspect the loop. Visibly it doesn't seem there is any bacterial/algal growth so maybe I got lucky (Yes, I do have a kill coil in the system.) Additionally, if my fittings aren't corroded, I assume I can re-use those as well? Question Part 2: (Prepare for some Advanced stupid here folks) I have a second 30mm x 240mm radiator sitting on the side of my case that has been collecting dust for about a year now. Can I simply flush out the dust and reuse that radiator or did I just throw away money? My main concern is that I won't be able to flush all the dust entirely and I'll end up inevitably gunking up my pump/blocks and causing issues later on. Question Part 3: I am attempting to plan a water cooling setup for my next rig (http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Sephonia/saved/gRYRsY). Based on everything I've read so far I should be good to go for the build with the listed components (Obviously, If I can re-use some parts I will be doing that.) Proposed Loop: Swiftech Apogee-XLC -- CPU Water Block (http://www.swiftech.com/apogeexl.aspx) EK-FC980 GTX - Acetal -- GTX 980 Gpu Block(http://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-fc980-gtx-acetal.html) EK-RES X3 250 -- 250mm(h), ~440mL Reservoir (http://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-res-x3-250.html) EK-D5 Vario X-TOP - Plexi (incl. pump) -- snazzy lookin' pump that I'm probably overpaying for. (http://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-d5-vario-x-top-plexi-incl-pump.html) PrimoChill Tubing 1/2"ID x 3/4"OD Lots of 1/2"ID x 3/4"OD (G1/4" standard) fittings. Still trying to find some cute ones in pink to match my build, if anyone knows where, please let me know.

I was just wondering tonight, what would you use your tablet for ? I mean, I don't have one right now, and I'm not planning on buying one, because I find this pretty much useless :/ I kind of see why it is useful for some persons that are constantly travelling, but for others, and at home ? Just explain it to me, I don't get it

Can I ask my GPU to do other things like what my CPU does? I was browsing around and researching DirectCompute 5.0 and it brought up a lot of questions. Is there any way I can utilize the insane amount of parallel prosessing for anything else? (Also I can't seem to get my 660Ti to work with CAD, is that just not going to happen or is there some sort of driver hack?)

Hi guys, I'm building a new computer for my dad. And i am wondering if everything will fit or if there are things that i should change. He will be using it for Photoshop, e-mail, internet browsing,... (daily use) Here are the parts: (Ram is 2 x 4gb Corsair Vengeance low profile) I did not choose a GPU because i think the integrated graphics (Intel HD 4600) are enough for running Photoshop (correct me if i'm wrong) Thanks in advance!

Hi Guys, I'm completely re-building a computer for my family. It was really important for it to boot fast and do everything fast. That doesn't matter anyway. So I bought a Samsung 840 series SSD for all of the OS and programs and all the goodness, with no intent on re-using the old HDD (which is full of crap and slow). So what I want to know is if I can deactivate the copy of windows on that computer and then make a bootable USB (done this part before with my PC) to install windows, then use the old licence to activate it. I also want to move the copy of Microsoft office to the new hard drive so that can be used as well. Is this possible? Thanks for your help :) bchampion96

Do you use an I/O shield? Why or why not? I don't since it's all silver, doesn't match my case. P.S. Gosh I love doing polls :)
