Hello, for some weird reason my usb c to usb c cable is not getting recognised when I plug it into my phone and won't show anything up on my pc. Also, it doesn't charge properly. I tried it in a laptop and again nothing shows up there either. It used to work and saying it's outputting about 1.85W - 2.65W when charging. Is it my phone, motherboard or something else. I've tried 2 other cables and still no luck. Any help? Would be greatly appreciated.

So I have a weird problem with USB C on my phones, and it does not feel as straight forward as it should. Let me explain: So I was excited to switch off of Micro USB. Since USB C started making it to phones I have had a Moto G, A Nexus 5x, a Pixel 4a, and a Pixel 6, while my wife has rocked an LG, and a Samsung G10. Now I can be a bit of a Linus, hence why my current phone is newer then my wife's, but I have consistently run into a problem with my devices that my wife has not shared. At some-point all of my devices stop being able to connect properly to their charging cables, even ones my wife has no problems with. As a result I have gone through the trouble of 1 buying brand name cables (Ankers are my go to), 2 buying high wattage chargers, 3 aggressively cleaned my charging port, and 4 started using wireless charging to reduce the wear on my port. I often have to twist my cables a few time to connect (especially when I need a faster charge, or use Android auto), and even then the connection is unstable. However my wife who is on a 4 year old phone has had none of these problems with the same cables. I can be rougher on my phones, but if I am wearing out my phone port I would expect new cables to have trouble, but that isn't what I see, and if it was the cables wearing out then I would expect my wife to have the same issues, but she doesn't. I am not sure what to do, and am wondering if anyone here has seen similar issues and might have tips for how to address. Thanks

Any recommendation for a switch that can switch the peripherals to different computers without too much lag or delay (preferably none at all)? And one that would work in bootloader or BIOS is also a must. My current switch has a bit of a few second delay to switch computers (slow enough for me to get delayed), and it doesn't work on bootloader (I use rEFInd) or BIOS.

I live in Sweden close to an IKEA and need to buy a bunch of USB-C to USB-C cables that will only be used for charging. However, they need to be able to deliver around 35 W (Watts) to iPad and MacBook Air devices. I found SITTBRUNN USB-C till USB-C and LILLHULT USB-C till USB-C on IKEAs website. How much W do these deliver?

I ordered a iPhone 15 Pro Max & was wondering what USB C 3.0 cable to order for the faster transfer speeds. I don't particularly want to buy apples USB C Pro cable for $70 U.S. Would like to find a cable from a reputable manufacturer that will last & won't junk out after a few months of realistic use. I don't plan on buying a bunch of cables from random companies that I've never heard of just to test whether or not it works. If anyone has any good suggestions any help or direction would be appreciated.

Is there a driver or virtual monitor program that would allow me to use my USB C DP as an input? Im trying to use my windows tablet as a monitor for the steamdeck. And miracast via windows projection is a bit messy with the steamdeck (i havent gotten it to work so far on the steamdeck and testing it on my phone the display was laggy). I tested my windows tablet and was able to use USB C to HDMI to connect to my TV. Same thing with the steamdeck as well. I think part of the issue is that the laptop doesnt appear to be a display for the steamdeck. Theres gotta be some driver for the port or program that would work for this right?

I tried looking at all the USB specifications but it is insanely confusing to me especially since most of the marketing just blatently says "connect your 4k display at 60Hz and have some 5Gbps USB ports as well!" I read the guide for display adapters in the forum, but tbh it didn't clear up anything for me. Some background information: I have a Lenovo Legion 15ahr05, which has 1 USB C 3.2 Gen 1 output that supports DP1.2. I want to have it so I only need to plug in power and that dock when I come home from work or university. (My laptop does not support USB C charging). In this dock I want to add my 3440x1440 display, which can run at a absolute maximum of 133Hz with DP1.2 (max spec for HBR2 according to Wiki/DisplayPort). Alongside the monitor I want the dock to have my peripherals such as mouse, DAC, USB mic, steam controller dongle, and a 1Gbps ethernet link to my server. Do Docks even work at any reasonable USB speed next to monitors? Do I need to set my display to 120Hz (not a problem) to free up bandwith for the USB devices/Ethernet? What should I expect in terms of "leftover transfer speeds" when plugging in lets say a USB ssd, or high bitrate audio devices? Thanks for the help in advance, I'm at my wits end

I have a BenQ monitor with usb C that can support 4k with 65w pd, but the monitor didn't come with one and I am unable to find proper one on Amazon, some listed products which claim they support usb 3.1 gen 2 have most reviews saying stopped working after couple of weeks . Can someone help me in finding one?

I'm new to learning about type c peripherals. I have a Lenovo Yoga 6 13 inch 2 in one. I think it's last years model with the ryzen 7 and 16gb ram. I think that is descriptive enough but if you'll also know it from the navy blue denim fabric back. I have 2 type c ports that both support DP 1.4 alt mode. It only charges on the left port :(. I think that is called PD (it says PD 3.0 on the specs). I don't know much about PD. Is it a standard for just imputing power or both input and output? My power brick is 45w for the laptop. The projector the portable Mirior m289 pro draws 30 to 35w. I'd prefer to hook up the projector with a type c cable one cord. But I'm realizing now even if I'm plugged it will drain laptop power. Can I get a bigger wattage type c charger plugged into the left port. (the charging one). And if i do will excess power be delivered through the right usb c non-PD port (unsure exactly what PD means). I plan to game on my APU laptop, with friends, while traveling with the little projector. It is a lot smaller than a monitor. Another possible solution i thought of was a type c hub with a type c port. But from my research, the hub type C ports doesn't deliver video signal. That seemed to be a pattern on many hubs perhaps all. I also want the type c port in use to send video (along with power). So my main question is... is there a way to make my laptop battery not drain with this projector? I know using the projector's wall adapter is an option. I mean over type c. Will a bigger power USB c adapter help?

I just bought a lenovo thinkpad E15 gen3 It's a really good laptop , but has a major flaw : Only 1 USB C for both charging and data with no dedicated charging port , meaning if you're charging your device there's no other USB C port available I have a SSD external drive that I would like to use while charging. I've looked into hubs that has multiple USB C but they are very expensive and BULKY (with a lot of ports that i don't need) Basically I need a USB C hub with just 2 USB C out ports (can't find any anywhere) So i thought of this solution : Buy a USB C hub with just 4 USB A ports (simple small and very cheap) and then add 2 USB A to USB C adapters ! I don't know if this would work and if it won't fry my pc so I'm afraid to test for myself Any one has enough expertise to be sure if this is safe or not and if it will work at all ?

Hey, I wasn't sure which section should this go into but since chargers are peripherals in my opinion , hence I posted this here.I am a long time Mac user and I have 2 Magsafe 2 chargers, both have died a gradual death by the cable slowly fraying and breaking from near the end that plugs into the MacBook, am sure the charge bricks themselves are still perfect and say what you will I have never found Apple's charge bricks have any problems, if anything I've noticed they out perform similarly speced charge bricks but am not engineer. I would like to be able to re use those charge bricks and give them a new life but for those who don't know Magsafe 2 charger don't have a removable cable and certainly don't have a USB c port on them. I wonder if there is a way to retro fit a USB c port on them or something through which they can be used a as general purpose charger for my phones, cameras etc. 1 of them is 45W and the other is 85W both would make for really great chargers, specially given how insanely expensive most good quality 85W USB C charger are right now. Any help is appreciated guys, cheers

Accesory Charging hubs, what are the best brands?
MistakenJoker posted a topic in Phones and Tablets
Hey all, I am looking to upgrade my old charging bricks and wanted to know what the most reputable brands are out there now. I've not seen any consensus on what the 'best' charger brand is and I want to get some opinions before making a purchase. -
Hi all, I have a question. In my brain it should work, but idk if the cables would handle it. We have 2 phones with an inconvenient place for power outlet, that's why we use laptop chargers. We both have 65W charging phones. My idea is a 130W Dell usb-c laptop charger with a splitter on the end to charge both phones. Would this work? Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone I am a programmer working in the hybrid system, in the office sometimes, and at home. Currently, to work I use a laptop provided by the company (Thinkpad T14) jointly with a dock that supports power delivery. Can I use this dock with my gaming desktop USB c port in the motherboard? For the desktop, I only want to use peripherals (Mouse, keybord and usb a headset). My motherboard model: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards-Components/Motherboards/TUF-Gaming/TUF-GAMING-B550-PLUS-WIFI-II/ The dock: https://www.lenovo.com/pt/pt/accessories-and-monitors/docking/usb-docks-universal-cable-docks/TP-Universal-USB-C-Dock-EU/p/40AY0090EU

External USB C monitor (Asus mb16ac) keeps turning on/off
Otonel88 posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Hi guys. I am having some wierd issue with my external Asus mb16ac USB C monitor which was working fine until I did a CLEAR cmos of my bios When I plug the monitor at the back of the MBO (Asus Strix Dark Hero) trough the included USB c cable and I turn the monitor on, the monitor turns on, then turns off after a few seconds. Wierdlly this behaviour ocours when I start doing something on my pc and I'm moving the mouse/windows etc. I had this issue before when I did a fresh install of windows, and I tried a lot of things even in the bios in the end getting it to work ok, but as I said, after a clear CMOS, this issue came up again, so I'm not sure if I really fixed it before in the BIOS, or how did the issue go away. This is really frustrating, and I've spent hours trying to fix the issue, but no success. I am thinking there could be an issue with the USB ports at the back of my MBO, but I am just guessing at this point. Here are a few things that I tried but couldn't solve the issue, just so maybe you guys have some other ideas on what I could do: In windows power management - USB selective suspend settings I've set that to disabled In windows device manager for USB I've made sure to disable 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' In windows I tried unninstalling and reinstalling the USB drivers. In windows I tried disabling startup services and processes, thinking there is some software that is conflicting which is triggering this wierd behavior. I updated to latest BIOS, chipset, drivers from DisplayLink. In BIOS APM Configuration option on the Advanced I've set ErP Ready to Disabled In BIOS i've set USB power delivery in Soft Off State (S5) to disabled Any other ideas? Thanks- 3 replies

Hi ladies and gents, I have recently purcahesed new mobo - Gigabyte b550 aorus pro ac, and was aware there is a usb 3.2 gen 1 header for front panel, but it is a 20 pin connection. On case - Lian Li o11 air mini, there is a usb c conector for front io. Any chance there is an adapter so I can get complete functionality on the front io? Thanks in advance!!

I've run into this problem with my external SSD where when i connect it to my Thunderbolt connection on my Windows PC and put my PC to sleep/shut it down, that my SSD won't turn off and starts getting hot. I assume it has something to do with Thunderbolt charging devices like phones while the pc is asleep but when i turned the feature "charge Devices via thunderbolt" off in the BIOS it didn't have any impact on this wierd behavior. Any idea what could be going on here? it's been bothering me quite some time now. PC: HP Victus 16.1 inch | Windows 10 | Product number: 4K245EA#ABH SSD: Samsung T5 1 TB SSD If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Hello, I have recently purchased a 4K, 144HZ monitor Gigabyte M28U, I have the only display port cable to connect the monitor to my gaming PC and it works fine. However, I also have a work laptop ThinkPad X13 Gen 1 (https://www.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/thinkpad/x-series/ThinkPad-X13-Intel-/p/20T2007PUK) Since there is only one display port on the monitor I do not want to have to keep changing the cables, so I would like to use the USB C port on the work laptop to connect to the USB C port on the monitor. The specifications of the laptop show that is able to output 4K @60hz but I do not know what cable I need https://inquirecontent2.ingrammicro.com/Manufacturer-Brochure/1065699499.pdf Is this cable sufficient to run 4K 60hz please? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Thunderbolt-Transfer-Compatible-Alienware-Chromebook/dp/B08GLCQBYD/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 Any assistance would be much appreciated. Many thanks

Using a HP Omen 30L with USB C 3.0 ports, but it isnt thunderbolt. Is there an adapter or specific cable I can use? So desktop is USB C port and portable monitor is thunderbolt, but no markings. The monitor is an Acer PM161Q 15.6" Widescreen LCD Monitor Used a HDMI adapter to USB C, used a normal usb c cable too. Also used the cable that came with the monitor The cable that came with the monitor works with my office laptop which is a Dell and with it's thunderbolt port. Any help would be great.

Hi all! This might be a bit of an odd one but does anyone have any recommendations for an "All USB C" desk top hub? If such a thing even exists... Ideally I want a solid block to stick to my desk that will let me plug a handful of USB C devices in - Think this https://www.anker.com/products/variant/usbc-to-4port-usb-30-hub/A83050A1 but swap the 4 USB A for C. Any help would be much appreciated!

Hey! I was just wondering what would be better experience wise when expanding the Steam Deck's storage. The SD Card (UHS-I) slot meant for this can transfer up to "104 MB/s". But the USB-C connector on it should be able to go up to "2000MB/s" How viable is using, say the Framework 1TB expansion card (or another small 1TB USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 drive). Instead of a 1TB SD Card. 'Cause where I live, SD cards get pretty expensive here, so I'm just looking for alternatives.

I'm after a main front projector light for computing most of my compute is on well lit road but just enough is out of town that i do need a decently bright front light. I've been really trying to put off buying a light that isnt USB C rechargeable as im liking to keep the light going for years and surely soon micro will finally die??? Cheers all!
