Hello! I'm not sure if this is the right section, but I'll just post it for now. I'm in search of an internal fan controller / SD card reader combination which has the following features: - USB 3.0 support (so that when I copy something from my SD cards it won't be limited by USB 2.0) - SDXC support - 4-pin pwm support (for 4 fans at best) The only thing that comes close to that is this one but it doesn't seem to be available in Germany. Any other recommendations? While most SD card reader / fan controller combinations have USB 3.0 ports, they don't have a USB 3.0 header for their SD card reader.

I felt like writing this I don't know why I do but I want to. So basically I was being my usual idiot self at school, and for whatever reason I decided that I wanted to find out what happens when you put a piece of metal in your computer's port (for reference my laptop is a macbook pro mid 2012 which I outfitted with a 480gb ssd and 16 gb ram). I don't know why I though it would be cool, but I did. So I took the part that normally plugs into your wall outlet, and started putting it in my mac's ports. I stuck it in the Ethernet port-nothing happened. I stuck it in the USB Port-wallah, my screen went black, computer wouldn't turn on. Even the little battery button thing on the side that normally indicates battery percentage wouldn't turn on. That thing is always on-it still works even when the laptop is shutdown. I tried plugging it in-nope. The little light on the charger would flicker for 30 seconds then turn off. I tried pressing the power button a bunch of times-nope. And there I was thinking that I may have to get a new laptop. So now you guys are probably thinking "well, I guess you gotta get a new laptop" Well, I'm a lucky guy. Our school has an IT Department that can help repair your laptop if it's having problems and stuff. And I'll tell you, they know what they are doing. So after school I took it over to them (I didn't tell him about me sticking a piece of metal up the USB Port, only that my computer wasn't working), and how we could try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, though I didn't think it would work. Well, it turned out it did. After that, it turned right back on! My guess is the reason that happened is because USB 3.0 can supply power, and so when I (idiotically) stuck a piece of metal in the port it shorted the port and so, to save its life, the computer shut itself off to protect itself. Perhaps there was some unit on the motherboard that was designed to detect this. However, when we unplugged the battery, that thing didn't have power anymore and so my computer stopped keeping itself from turning on, so when I plugged the battery back in it worked fine again. So the lesson: Don't stick metal up your computer ports. Oh yeah, don't do stupid things that you know could be disastrous, because chances are they will be. I hope this wasn't too long. I don't know why I felt like writing this but I do, so deal with it. So yeah. Don't be an idiot.

I used this Kingston 8Gb flash drive to create bootable usb for windows 10 and then reformated it again to use as a normal drive and this is what transfer rate I get now. I tried formating it to default settings, then tried NTFS system. then tried without quick format, all the same result. What happened with this drive? The device was working properly prior to me creating bootable with rufus.

I'm building a brand new set-up right now, and I've come to a stopping point. Namely, the USB 3.0 connector will not stay connected to either of the USB 3.0 ports on my Mobo. I plug the cord in, and it just falls out. I've tried pushing (really) hard, hard enough that I'm scared I'll break the Mobo itself... and it just won't stay connected. Am I doing something wrong?? I'm using an ASUS Z170-A motherboard and a Inwin 805 case.

Hello All, Just a Idea, seeing how I've been trying to read about how the PCIE X16 lanes work, I was wondering is it possible to connect a Graphic's Card externally?, I was planning on building a new rig so I could do 1080p Video editing and eventually 4k, and so I was considering using my laptop at first in it's work station. Current Laptop Link to Spec's: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/toshiba-satellite-radius-2-in-1-15-6-4k-ultra-hd-touch-screen-laptop-intel-core-i7-12gb-memory-1tb-hard-drive-carbon-gray/4516900.p?id=1219756372262&skuId=4516900 Is this fine and safe to do for now?, was also considering overclocking it, but I wouldn't know how to keep it cool in such a form factor as such.

SOOOO, if you look at my current rig, you'll see an H97M-E on a BitFenix Phenom M. I'm planning to transfer into a Versa H15, AND add a DeepCool Rock Master v3 It looks like the Versa H15 has 1x USB2.0 and 1x USB3.0 on its front panel. Now, it looks like I don't have enough USB3.0 headers on my motherboard, and I'll be prioritizing the Rock Master since I also need the card-readers. Now what do I do with the 1x USB3.0 on my chassis? Is there some sort of 3.0-to-2.0 cable? Because them USB2.0 headers, I have alot

Hi all, I have a small problem with my USB ports in that I'm running out of them. I have a spare USB 3.0 header on my motherboard and was wondering if there was any way to utilise this to gain some extra USB ports. I am really hoping to have something that sits in one of the PCI slots of my case but uses the USB header for data and power. Has anyone seen anything like this? Thanks

Hello. I was wondering if a 4-port USB 3.0 hub will make data transfer from my SD card reader slower than when it's directly plugged in to the PC. The hub is a powered hub. Please answer!

Hey. I have a pretty simple question: If I buy a NZXT S340 case, that has two usb headers, will I need one usb3 header or two on my mobo? Thanks in advance

I;m Curious to know what speeds i should expect to transfer at between PC and a USB 3.0 External Hard disk drive? Thanks.

Hi. Not quite sure if I posted this in the correct place, if not, please move it I'm current using 5 seperate USB drives for backup of my data. I started with 3 drives, then added another, and then again, another. I'm running out of USB ports, and the solution is quite as clean as i want it to be. So, i'm searching for an enclosure for multiple drives, that connects to the PC with 1 USB 3.0 cable. The drives should still show up as seperate drives, so no RAID. Does such an enclosure exist? Or do i need to tinker myself with a USB HUB and a old PC case or something like that? Best regards, Dennis.

Don't read this if you don't want to So my cousin has this 5 year old 4gb usb 2.0 usb that's made out of happy meal plastic and it's his birthday in a couple weeks and i thought about getting him a better usb that's smaller faster and more capacity. I figured that buying a random usb on amazon that would best fit my cuz then i came across this K'1 PKParis thingy http://www.pkparis.com/en/prods/k1/ and i thought i would be an amazing gift but it was a little suspicious,128gb usb 3.0 on that silvery peanut size thing? hmm so what do you guys think My questions are: Is this a legit usb? http://www.pkparis.com/en/prods/k1/ Can you run RAID 0 on samsung 950 pro ssd? Thanks

Hi folks, I am planning on building a media center PC for my friend. He is going to hook it up to his Yamaha amplifier (with 5.1 speakers) and a 3D Projector. The build should have a small footprint so that it does not look like a full desktop but more like an overgrown DVD player. I have already built a media center PC using the following components for my own viewing: Gigabyte J1900N-D3V (Has a soldiered celeron 2.0 quad core SOC CPU), 4 GB DDR3-1333 Dual channel SODIMM memory (Its a leftover from my laptop RAM upgrade), 4 TB Seagate SSHD But I feel the above build lacks the punch to output 3D movies at 120Hz and it does not have a HDMI port. I need help choosing a suitable motherboard. I am looking for a motherboard with the following features in the order of their priority: Support for bluray 3D video output at full HD or 4K (That should be supported by both the SOC CPU and the motherboard) A quad core 2.0 GHZ or better SOC CPU (slim-fan or fanless) HDMI 2.0 port Wake on USB/LAN support (for any USB remotes for switching the PC on from the couch) UEFI BIOS for support for 2TB+ hard drives Mini-ITX form factor Support for 4GB + Sodimm slots (parallel install for no vertical protrusion) 2/2+ Sata-3 ports 2 Gigabit ethernet ports 2/2+ USB 3.0 ports PCI/PCI-e slot for an additional Sound card 2 USB 2.0 ports Built in Wifi (or option to add a mini pcie card) Enough ports for adding additional system fans Linux support (Some SOC based motherboards don't support linux well) He is NOT going to use it for gaming, but to view 3D movies on his 3D projector and as a NAS. Also let me know if there are any good cases available for such a build along with a media center-like remote. Any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks for your help.

Hi Guys, I am currently compiling a review of the Sandisk Ultra 3.0. It's rated at 100MB/s of course they're meaning reads. But I am getting 115MB/s Reads but writes are going aweful. Getting about 12MB/s of write speed. That's not the catch. I've seen many other videos which show that this USB drive is great and has write speeds of 48-50MB/s. Why the heck is my USB so slow. I am plugging it into the USB 3.0 port so no problem there! However sometime when I test it it also shows me reads of 25 MB/s? WTH! I know you must be thinking it's a cheap knockoff. No! I bought this from an authorized distributor of Sandisk. Here's my specs. And BTW I'm attaching a picture of the exact usb drive that I have Core i7 4790 (Non-K) Gigabyte H81M DS2 Any tweaks that I need to do? or is it my mobo. Its only a month old though. I also attached the benchmark. I have also tried moving a file manually. No use Thanks

Hello guys, I have an external hard drive and it's supposed to be USB 3.0 but W=when I transfer things from and to it, it only performs at USB 2 speeds, It's a Samsung M3 portable HDD 500GB btw. I checked in the BIOS, the USB 3.0 controller called Rensas is enabled and so are the USB 3 ports, the connector is the one given with the drive so it should be USB 3.0, the port in which I connect it is directly in the motherboard IO and it's a USB 3 port. However, the issue seems to be software related as on other PC's, the drive performs at it's max speed of ~60 Mbps when it can and it's only on my PC that it seems to be limited at the previous gen speeds. I tried re installing the USB controller on the motherboard. How can I fix this? PC specs: Asus Maximus IV extreme Core i7-2600 16 GB RAM Samsung M3 portable HDD Thanks for quick answers, Regards

I have a lenovo Y70 with a 4GB 960M, the hdmi is only 1.4a not 2.0 thus 4k is limited to 30hz. I was wondering if I could leverage the GTX960M which I know can run 4k at 60hz through a USB 3.0 displayport adapter. I havent seen this done before and didnt know if it could be done.

Hello all I'm looking for a new computer case but i'm on a budget (at most about $100). It needs to be mATX, windowed, and have at least 1 front USB 3.0. Your help would be appreciated.

So I have a bit of a problem. I can't play Darksouls 1 or 2 on my computer with my Xbox 360 controller (I can however play all the other games with it). I've spent some hours troubleshooting why and I've come to the conclusion that the controller is not compatible with USB 3.0 ports. The problem is that I don't have any USB 2.0 ports on my PC. Is there a way for me to downgrade the USB 3.0 ports to 2.0 just by installing/uninstalling some software or can I just change the settings?
