Hi. I'll soon be upgrading my rig with a MSI MPG X570 Gaming Pro Carbon WIFI. The thing is that the case that I own (the Corsair Crystal 680X RGB White) has front USB C and the motherboard does not have a connector for it. So I was thinking if maybe there excisted some adapters for it. Something like USB 3.0 to USB C. Thanks in advance

I have a SanDisk 16GB USB 3.0 flash drive connected to a powered Aukey USB 3.0 hub, which is then plugged into a USB 3.0 port on my ASUS Strix GL703GM laptop running Windows 10 Pro. My issue is that Windows is saying that the USB 3.0 flash drive can perform faster if plugged into USB 3.0, but it already is. The USB hub is 3.0, as is the USB port on the laptop to which the hub is connected. I have isolated the issue to the hub, because when I disconnect the hub, and then connect the 3.0 flash drive to the same 3.0 port on the laptop where the hub was previously connected, it functions as it should. I am trying to avoid having to buy a new hub, but at the moment I see no other solution. ASUS support told me that the ports, which are 3.0, don't support having a hub connected, but I am in IT, and have never heard this before, but maybe they are right, I don't know everything after all. This is why I am reaching out to the greater community for assistance with this issue. I really need the hub to run at 3.0 speeds because I am running some of my applications from USB, but that's another discussion entirely.

I have an old acer aspire 5738z Laptop and the laptop doesn't have USB 3.0 or PCI-Express neither :( and i really need the usb 3.0 so badly. I looked in the Internet and didn't find anything helpful so I thought you can help me out. I have an Idea but don't know how helpful it is so here your turns come to help me: if I took my CD-Rom off, I would have an empty SATA -DATA+Power slot! is there any way to have an USB 3.0 hub/Port installed in the Sata slot????? if not, I need your suggestions plz. I can't wait for your reply ☺

Having a hard time getting a straight answer with the ol' Google searches. I recently upgraded my storage server to 8x6TB HDDs and now I have a whack-ton of 2TB HDDs laying around. My external 3TB is getting full and my internal drive on my X1X was full long ago. Does anyone know of an USB 3.0 enclosure that'll support 4-8 drives and present a single logical volume to an X1X as a storage target? Ideally, I would love to be able to span the HDDs into a single storage volume so the Xbox thinks that a single large drive is attached. I’m not really concerned with faster disk access or greater throughput. I'm after storage capacity. And seeing as I have a bunch Enterprise 2TB drives already, a single enclosure would have less of a financial impact than new large format drives with the bonus of being expandable and possibly fault-tolerant.

Hey guys, so my mobo doesn’t have any usb 3.0 headers but I wondered if there is any way to add usb 3.0 to it anyway? I want a new case but if it has usb 3.0 on it and I can’t use that it would be kind of dumb.

I recently picked up the Razer Base Station Chroma, having ignored all of the negative reviews, and connected the device to my laptop via USB 3.0. However, to my surprise, the laptop suddenly entered a never-ending boot loop cycle upon restarting. The amount of troubleshooting that I could attempt was limited by a personal deadline. And, after a few hours, I gave up and reset the laptop whilst keeping all personal files. I am almost 100% sure that the Razer Base Station Chroma is the culprit. Both in Safe Mode and in Normal Mode, I noticed that nearly every essential driver (audio, ethernet/wireless, etc.) had become unusable. The USB 3.0 port to which I have another peripheral connected, though, functioned normally. This led me to believe that the system BIOS was set to prioritize the USB ports upon startup, hence the inability of most remaining drivers to be unable to function without the system first recognizing the USB 3.0 port to which the Razer Base Station Chroma was connected before I unplugged it due to its role in the matter. I entered WinRE and tried restoring the system to a point before the introduction of the Razer Base Station Chroma only to receive a failure notification. Additionally, I got past the sign-in screen by enabling safe mode and located all of the nonfunctional drivers within device manager, all of which I updated or disabled and reenabled. As for the drivers pertaining to the Razer Base Station Chroma, I uninstalled them. Moving onto the system BIOS, I switched the boot startup mode from UEFI to Legacy and disabled secure bootup. I realize that I am not very knowledgeable about hardware/software issues and their respective solutions. I have not reconnected the Razer Base Station Chroma into the USB 3.0 port because of fear that the incident will repeat itself. All in all, I would love some feedback on overcoming the problem!

Hi, Recently Huawei announced their new lineup of Matebooks with their "revolutionary" folding phone. Their Matebook 14 has both, Type A 2.0 and 3.0 usb's. Why? Wouldn't it be better to either provide a different port or just 2 USB 3.0 ports? Here's Engadget's youtube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSr6g3YgyH0 Skip to 4:40 to check it out

So I recently got a new usb 3.0 hub from amazon, This One, I started using it and everything was fine until a day later, my peripherals started disconnecting and sometimes reconnecting, sometimes not even coming back on, I found this very annoying because I had a lot of things to plug in but not enough room. I tried plugging in the AC adapter for the Hub for more power to see if that was the issue, but to my luck, there was no success. Please Help. If anyone needs to know my laptop is a Lenovo Y530 (i7 8750H, Gtx 1050ti, 16 Gigs of Ram, Usb 3.0(Tell me if any more information is required))

I have a Seagate Expansion External Hard Drive USB 3.0 which used to plug nicely into the Linksys WRT AC1200 router I previously had - using this, I could access my hard drive's files from any computer on the network. I have since committed to the Ubiquiti life, purchasing an EdgeRouter X, a couple of US-8 Unifi switches, and a few UniFi AP Lites. Unfortunately, none of the Ubiquiti products have a USB slot. I thought I would be clever by purchasing the the Plugable USB 3.0 to Ethernet LAN network adapter (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AQM8586/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and a SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Coupler Adapter (Type A Female to Female) (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0793NX3GR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) so that I could do something like Routher->Ethernet cable->USB 3.0 to Ethernet adapter->USB 3.0 coupler->External Harddrive USB 3.0. Alas, this did not work - the external hard drive did not even turn on. Any thoughts on where I went wrong here? Any more clever ideas than mine?

G'day. recently i got an Oculus Rift s and it was working flawlessly. i just celebrated my 18th birthday so i had some mates over. one of my friends was playing on my brand new rift s and suddenly the screen went black. and now when i try and use it. there is 3 dots (loading ellipses screen) in the display of the headstand. and when i go into my devices in the Oculus software. it says that my rift s is connected via a Usb 2.0 (which it is most definitely not) it was working fine and then just stopped. I've done the restart many times, I've uninstalled Oculus twice, I've restarted the PC many times, I've left my PC for a full day, and I've searched the internet for hours to no solution. Please help... this thing was expensive and I've already bought heaps of games for it.

Hi guys, I'm buying a NAS and my pc has thunderbolt 3 so I am considering getting a NAS which supports thunderbolt 3 to use it as an external drive for gaming. (I know it might be a bit janky, but I want the option to do it) But my question is: Since the HDDs I will use in the NAS only have a transfer speed of 600 mbps and USB 3.0 has a transfer speed of up to 5 gbps, is there any point of buying a more expensive thunderbolt 3 NAS with 40 gb/s over a conventional USB 3.0 NAS if the HDDS will never surpass the USB transfer speed anyways? Thanks.

USB 3.0 on a 3.2 motherboard header
MachineLearning posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I know its a terrible waste... But can I connect my cases 3.0 ports to my motherboard 3.2 USB headers? The way I think of it, its only a bottleneck problem, and it will run at 3.0 speeds, not a functional problem though. What do you think?- 1 reply

I have a 1TB 5400 RPM Drive. I have it on an Orico USB 3.0 Enclosure I copied a 2GB video file from that 5400rpm drive to my internal 7200rpm drive, plugged it in the USB 3.0 port, speeds were around 28MB/s I tried it the other way around. Copied the same 2GB file from my internal 7200rpm drive to the external 5400rpm drive on a 3.0 enclosure and I got 100MB/s Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks

Hi, I have a Drobo 4 Bay Gen 3, USB 3.0 running two HDDs in Drobo's own "Beyond Raid" and I have noticed that the write speeds between the hard drives and my USB3.0 portable hard drive are a little bit slow (avg 50mbs). Even when transferring direct to my PCs SSD speeds aren't much better. Is there a way for me to increase my speed! The Drobo is plugged direct into my MOBO's USB 3.0 port and the external drive is plugged into a UBS3.0 case port. Here are some links with basic info regarding the gear I am using. https://www.droboworks.com.au/Drobo-4-Bay.asp https://www.umart.com.au/Seagate-Ironwolf-6TB-ST6000VN0033-NAS--HDD_43091G.html https://www.umart.com.au/Seagate-IronWolf-NAS-4TB-ST4000VN008-HD-3-5-SATAII-64MB_37651G.html https://www.seagate.com/au/en/consumer/play/game-drive-xbox/#features https://www.umart.com.au/Asus-ROG-Strix-Z370-H-Gaming-LGA-1151-ATX-Motherboard_40438G.html Thanks in advance for the help!

Hey, I am going to buy an optical blu-ray drive from someone. I don't have an optical drive port in my pc case (MasterBox Lite 5 RGB) and wanted to use the blu-ray drive externally to rip my personal blu-rays. The power and data connection seem to be a standard 15pin sata connection (see picture). Would I be able to use an adapter (see picture) like this to use the drive externally? Please let me know what I would need to use this optical drive externally (via USB). Thanks!

Hi, I'm planning to buy a 2.5 enclosure and put an SSD instead of an HDD in it. I would be using it as just a basic temporary storage, pictures, videos from my phone transferred through OTG for long trips for when my phone storage gets full. Im wondering if it's just fine going with a dramless SSD rather than one with dram for a use case like this. I could get a 480gb dramless ssd for the price of a 250gb ssd with dram which would double my storage for the same price. Thanks!

I have an Asus ROG Strix Z370i motherboard. Apparently, when I took my system out of the Thermaltake Core V1 case, and put it into my new Phanteks Evolv iTX TG case, the plastic socket part of my USB 3.0 header ripped off and stuck to the plug of the USB 3.0 front panel cable. The pins are still on the board, and it works just fine if I plug the new cases' cable into it. I'm well past the point of RMA'ing it, I can't be without a system while I wait for the back and forth. And this board is several years old. What should I use to adhere it back onto the PCB? Super glue? RTV? Once I assemble my loop into the system, it'll pretty much stay as-is until I need to upgrade my CPU (8700k), and I'll probably be switching to AMD. But if I ever need to troubleshoot, I don't want to ruin the board by disconnecting the cable and ripping the header off again.

I am planning on getting one of these two external hard drives: WD 8TB My Book Desktop External Hard Drive Or Seagate Expansion 8TB Desktop External Hard Drive Has anyone used either of these? are they good or bad? I have recently come into trouble with my desktop PC, the USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and microphone slot on the top of my Cooler Master COSMOS SE case next to the power button have stopped working. I have identified the cable and disconnected it from my motherboard to not cause any further problems. I would be happy to buy a replacement part/s and fix it myself but have had great difficulty finding the part I need, I have looked on Cooler Master's website for spare parts but they don't have anything for my case as it is now discontinued. i also would like to know the name of the part I am looking for as I have yet to find it.The images attached show to the part I am looking for and would welcome and greatly appreciate any feedback or help finding the part I need.Kind regards, Dylan. My computer specs:Case: Cooler Master COSMOS SEMother board: SABERTOOTH z97 MARK SCPU: Intel i7- 4790K @ 4.00 GHZGFX: Nvidia GTX 980RAM: DDR3 16GBOS: Windows 10 x64
