So I looked at my task manager today and my PC is using 11.1GB of memory with just this chrome tab, hwinfo, msi afterburner, discord, Mwbytes, and razer synapse open. I have 16Gb of ram and 66% is being used at a near idle.... When I take a look at the task manager none of these applications are even using a single gigabyte of Ram, none of this adds up. How do I find out what is using my ram and put a stop to it? attached is a screencap of my task manager

After reinstalling windows my problem started. When I try to open a link either from a program or a Google search the service host state repository service uses a lot of CPU power and it takes several minutes for the link to open. If I instead copy and paste the link directly into the browser it opens instantly. I can't seem to solve this. This is what i have tried: "Open Apps & features Scroll down to Microsoft Edge (even if you aren't using it, this still fixes it) Click Microsoft Edge, then click Advanced options. Click Repair, then Reset ---- In order to fix this problem, I had to disconnect my computer from the internet and restart, and upon restarting, create a new local account. After signing into the new account, I immediately signed back into my main account, and reconnected the internet. Doing this seemed to fix my problem. --- A fix involving a Powershell script. --- all "solutuions i found around the internet and here on reddit" Nothing has worked so fare Windows support somewhat helped, the problem is now only in the edge browser. So i can live with it. Would delete thread if i knew how

Hey so I just upgraded my Video Card to a 1080ti (from a Radeon R9 290) a few days ago and I was wondering if anyone here could help with something. To start off here's my PC: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/KeanMorris/saved/#view=VGnJVn I have a 2560x1080 75 hz ultrawide monitor (freesync). I have my CPU at 3.8 ghz and my ram is running at 2933 (unstable at any higher and I don't really know how to mess with RAM settings..) I first noticed this issue when playing Overwatch on low settings. In the beginning my FPS was going straight to the cap of 300 but then I noticed it kind of fluctuated and went down a bit (going down to like 250, sometimes lower; including a couple times it went down to 180 for a little bit). I thought this was weird so I started watching the usage in HWMonitor only to find that my GPU's utilization was starting out at 99 percent and then going down to roughly 50-60 and then constantly changing to values in-between. The utilization also seem to go down if I started recording with OBS, which doesn't make much sense to me as even when I'm playing OW and recording my CPU usage is still only at like 40 percent. Then I set my graphics set all the way up to epic and it seems to run fine; it doesn't hit 300 FPS but the utilization seems to stay at 99 and I get around 250 FPS. However NOW I have (or I just noticed that I have) quite a bit of screen tearing that I can't seem to fix no matter what I do, and while it isn't unplayable, it is certainly annoying.... But back to the GPU utilization, the same exact thing seems to happen when I play Doom. GPU utilization stays around 50-60 percent all the time. Ill put a clip that I recorded at the end showing this. Some other games seem to be fine from what little bit I've played; Witcher 3 and Just Cause 3 on ultra run pretty similarly at around 90-120 FPS, and the GPU utilization stays at 97 percent. Googling around I've read some posts and things from people who have a similar problem but I never really saw a definitive solution... Anyway sorry for the gigantic novel of a post but I figured its best to provide as much info as possible. Also thanks in advance to anyone who helps, and here's the Doom video:

I decided to buy one old HDD that still uses PMR, there are not many models to choose since it's a 2Tb 2.5" drive so it has to be this model, the problem is I wondered if SMART statistics could be faked/resetted to look like if it was new, and it certainly seems it could be done, so do you know another way to find out if an HDD has been used before (that can be legally justified)? Thank you.

Hello, I had noticed that my 1050ti was barely raising my gpu usage over 10 percent and was wondering if there was a way to raise the usage up to atleast 50%. at the moment I can play a game like arma and still get the same score on folding even with an intensive task running. Please help

Hi. I'm starting to notice a slight problem in GTA 5. My GPU usage stays below 70% (mostly at 60-65%) all of the time. GPU doesn't get maxed out. This was okay when I tested it a few weeks ago, but when I decided to start it again, I noticed this problem. Even though the frame rate stays above 60 most of the time (80-100 mostly), at very rare times, it does stutter when a lot is happening on the screen. Frame rate doesn't improve when I lower the resolution. Any ideas as to why this is happening? CPU usage is also perfectly fine.I tried WD2, and R6S and in those titles, gpu was maxed out. Now, yes, I know, I am getting above 60 fps and maybe you'll say I'm being greedy. But still, I'm just curious. Is it my fault or the game's fault? Any suggestions? I also have the latest amd relive 17.11.4 driver installed. But this was also happening before the update. Thanks for any advanced helpMy specs:i7 4790k at stock speed16 GB ddr3 1600 mhz ram.Sapphire Nitro Rx 480 4 GBAntec 500W PSU

So, today morning I got the new Windows Update on my crappy 2012 Thinkpad X1 Carbon. I had task manager open in the background when I played a game of csgo. fps_max is off and my battery power setting was set as far to best performance as it can possibly be. But the results show both CPU and GPU usage at about half? Is this thermal throttling or what is happening, and how can I get my parts performing to their best? Temps: my temps were around 68C, my temps generally max out at about 75C Specs: 8GB DDR3 1600 i7-4550U Intel HD 5000 SSD Thanks!

Hi guys, Recently got myself a gaming laptop for games and school, it is a MSI GX63VR-NE1070 spec: i7 7700HQ @2.8GHz Quad Core w/ HT Nvidia GTX 1070 8GB 16GB RAM So I booted up counter strike and play a couple of games, but found out that the fps is just hovering around the 120 mark and frequently dipping below that. Having a 120Hz display can really notice when the fps goes down to 70 sometimes. Knowing that the cpu might be the bottleneck, I ran MSI afterburner and monitored the usage in game. I found out that GPU usage was hovering between 20% to 40%. CPU usage is about 60% for the first 2 cores and 40% for the last 2 cores, along with their respective HT. CPU temperature is about 70 while GPU is hovering between 50 and 70. I have the cooling fans in jet engine mode when gaming. Looking at some youtube videos about the game on laptops I observe that some of them having 80%+ usage and hitting 200+ fps easily. How should I achieve that with the same hardware? Things I've already done: Windows power plan: High Performance. Nvidia Control Panel: Prefer Maximum Performance. Running the game low on everything, with FXAA and VSync disabled. fps_max 600 Set to high priority in task manager. Nvidia Driver is up-to-date. Doing a little bit of reading on the internet, someone suggested that Nvidia is purposefully lowering the card's performance by pushing out frames just enough for the monitor refresh rate (120). Being an internet comment, sources and citation was not given so I am skeptical about that claim. Is that true? If it is, is there any method to disable that? I await your comments with great anticipation. Thanks to all who can spare a few minutes to help me out. Anymore information needed about the system please let me know. Sincerely to LMG community, Jia

As a member of the Windows Insider Program, I remember that GPU usage stats was one of the most requested features. They've finally added it, albeit over 2 years since the official release. At the moment, it's pretty buggy (for example, it doesn't seem to recognize my bitcoin mining program as using any GPU), but it does give you the ability to break down GPU usage by program, which as far as I know is something not offered by the major third-party tools. I'm looking forward towards this feature being improved, but even now in it's heavily experimental state i'm getting use out of it. IMO should have been a feature at release, but better late than never. Source: http://www.pcgamer.com/microsoft-is-adding-a-gpu-monitor-to-task-manager-in-windows-10/ (The source is the announcement from last June that it was going to be added, I am just posting this now because they've actually started pushing it out to regular users now. You should probably see this feature added to your system before the end of the year as part of the Fall Creator's update.)

Hi! I have HP omen 15, (2018 version i think). GTX 1060, 16Gb RAM, I7-8750H with win10 Edu version. Running with undervolt on CPU because that thing get hot af. Drivers should be up to date, windows is on SSD, Apex Legends as well and i make sure its not full. I use CCleaner to clean my PC, Avast as antivirus and for the last month i have been using Kerish Doctor to fix my pc. But nothing really helps. I have huge stutters in games or in windows. The longer the PC is running, the worse they get. It starts at half a second stutter, where music plays but the screen freezes, the input devices still work as well since my mouse moves and text writes itself down after that. But when playing Apex, for like 2 hours, in the end it gets ridiculous and i stutter for 2 seconds sometimes which cost me a lot of 1v1s. I have seen ppl having the same problem, but no causes, i tried Kerish doctor to clean my pc up, some cmd commands, RAM cleaners like ISLC and many other things but nothing helps. I have monitored my GPU while playing and you can clearly see its usage drops to 0 every minute, exactly every minute. I wonder if any of you had problem like this and if you could fix it, any tips are appreciated. Thanks!

Both shows same CPU usage but the Xbox overlay shows far higher GPU usage than Rivatuner... Infact in many games I believed had a CPU bottleneck it shows 90-99% usage while Rivatuner says half of that?! O_O? Which one is more likely to be right here??? X-X

Hi. I just bought an Asus ROG Strix GTX 1080, but I'm having some struggles with GPU usage. With Rise of the Tomb Radier it's at a nice 99% the whole time, but with GTA V and Project Cars it fluctuates a lot, and drop to about 60% in both. Anyone know why this happens? I did a fresh install of the drivers with DDU, set Windows power settings to high performance and changed priority in Nvidia control panel to maximum performance. Other specs are on my profile and in my signature, playing on a 1080P 144Hz screen. Edit: resource usage when playing Project Cars: http://imgur.com/OoRYi9D Edit 2: resource usage when playing GTA V http://imgur.com/OvnR3nb nothing is bottlenecked but it's not going to a 100% Edit 3: Project Cars, last GPU dip is when cars get in my screen, which dropped my fps from 90 to 55: http://imgur.com/D8EHWVh Edit 4: 3DMARK time spy: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/15001421, 3DMARK fire strike: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/14998328 Still can't figure out why it doesn't fully utilize either CPU or GPU, so suggestions are welcome.

Just performed a clean install on my desktop as it was acting up after the anniversary update. Just going over some things and it is looking like the CPU is running at 100% even at idle. Are there that many background process running or do I maybe have a problem I don't know about? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi! So I'm having this problem with my hard drive. It basically is my hard drive blacking out for couple of seconds. I have a mechanical 1T hard drive. My disk usage goes to 100% and nothing works. Task manager shows some very slow speeds of 0.2 MB/s when the thing happens. Does this mean that I have to buy a new hard drive? Can I fix this? I don't even have a backup drive anywhere... The drive is about maybe 2 years old I'm not sure and a lot of deleting and getting new files has been done. And IF I need a new drive I'm wishing of getting something pretty fast but still something with a lot of storage. Any suggestions? :^) I hope someone can help me!

Hi LTT Community. I just bought this R9 380 Sapphire Nitro with Backplate and look at the image of the gpu usage. Its random like that but I don't have drops in-game, could it be the Crimson drivers? Or something faulty with the PCIE Socket? I3 4170 8gb of ram 1tb xfx 550w psu, pretty good one tbh. I dont know what could it be, it drops to low numbers but i don't have any lag or stutter... Should i RMA it?
