Hi. This is my first post here. Not sure if this is the right category to ask this question. I have an old desktop . I bought this pre built desktop 3 years ago. and now I want to upgrade my graphics card. My budget is 100-180 USD. I like the GTX 1050 Ti. But, can I use it on my computer? if not, which graphics card will be good for me? Here's my desktop specs: Power supply: ThermalTake 450 watt (Model:LT-450NL2NK) Motherboard: GIGABYTE H81M-S2PV Rev2.0 Processor: Intel Core i3 - 4160 @3.60 GHz RAM: 4GB DDR3 1600 MHz Storage: 1TB HDD Current graphics card: AMD Radeon HD5450, lol Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64x Monitor: 1366x768 resolution Dell monitor (Model: E1916HV) I want to play games like GTA 5 at highest settings with more than 40 FPS. I'm not a hardcore gamer. But, I might become a hardcore gamer after upgrading, who knows!?

Hey, i have an AMD FX 8370 right now. I have seen a few things, and the Intel i7 3930k looks like a nice upgrade for a good price on ebay. I used passmark, game debate, usermark and even CPUboss to compare these 2 cpus, and every single one of those comparison sites said that the Intel i7 3930k totally blows away the fx 8370. The only problem is that the 3930k uses the LGA 2011 slot, and lga 2011 motherboards are gonna lighten my wallet quite a fair bit (I'm a lower budget gamer!). Also, the 8370 is fairly newer than the 3930k. Should I upgrade or not?

Hi Everyone! I have a 2009 PC that makes me don't want Ryzen. not because the specs, but because of how it feels to "play" with a PC. 1.Budget and Location Actually i am not focusing on budget, just finding old parts that is great and cheap. I am currently in Indonesia but i don't mind using $ and £. 2. Aim Just for Fun, but thinking if i can use it for YouTube editing and fast rendering also Racing games and FPS games 3. Monitor Having a TV currently, i can sit my PC there for a while. TV Specs: 12ms Response Time 120Hz Refresh Rate 40" Curved FHD I can ask for a monitor, LG 24GM77 If that's really needed to be competitive in PUBG and Racing Games? 4. Peripherals I have 3 mouses and keyboards, not sure where they come from... Maybe when i was in 2009. Logitech G402 is good and there's a deal for only the mouse at $20 ish For the OS, i am thinking if my PC can "revive" my Windows 7 again. 5. Why are you upgrading? Obviously because of fun that i am searching, the old specs are: Intel Core 2 Duo (unknown) Asus P5G41TM-LX (DDR3 Dual Channel) Pixelview GF9400GT Samsung 160GB HDD Included PSU from Simbadda V-Gen 1GB DDR3 And the main upgrade would be: Core 2 Duo---->Core 2 Quad Q9650 $80 ish (used) GF9400GT----> Zotac GTX 970 $202.40 (used) Kingston HyperX Fury HX318C10FBK2/8 $65 (new) RMx 650W PSU What do you think everyone? Tell me if there's something that you want me to change. Thank you!

Hey guys! I'm new to the forums, so ayee! - Anyway, I've been having issues with my ASUS GeForce® GTX 760 DC Mini - Recently, it has been overheating to around 85-90c+ even running games both on highest possible settings and even after I've lowered graphical quality it overheats and gets to a point where my PC monitor goes black and the audio just repeats in an endless loop, I believe it may be something to do with the thermal protection that the GTX760 apparently has? (I'm not very tech savvy, so I apologise.) I've cleaned my PC out numerous times to get rid of dust in the fans etc and I don't know what else to do. The PC I bought about 1-2 years ago was this: The Specs (that I think are relevant) i7-3770 Quad Core Processor Nvidia GT630 (Which I upgraded to the gtx760 mini because of the case size is extremely small) 8GB DDR3 RAM I don't know what I should do, but I have been thinking of buying a completely new case which has more vents and fans on the back-end (The PC has no fans other than the cpu cooler/fan on the gtx760) so that may be another issue. I'm also thinking of keeping my current CPU because it seems perfectly okay as it is right now (under load if anybody wanted to know has around 40-50C temps on my CPU - Checked via MSI Afterburner) - But my main priority may be upgrading the graphics card (for better fps in more recent games like BF1) to either a 960/70 or 980. and the case. If anybody has any recommendations for Cases etc, please let me know! and thank you for taking the time to read this and help out

Hi there, So a few years back, when I was young and naive, I decided to get a gaming rig. Not a gaming rig I built myself but a gaming rig built by Alienware, I know.. However after a two years of having a great time it started to act up. Now after 1,5 more years I am looking to upgrade, if possible. I have no idea if it's possible to upgrade an Alienware desktop and if I can use the same motherboard. But I simply don't have the money to buy a whole new rig. What parts should I replace and what should I keep? Thanks in advance, 2Girls1Dirk

Hi, I am currently running a basic, and oddly balanced (i'll explain later) system that I use for school and gaming. I have worked with Inventor and Solidworks on it with little to no issue in the past but recently I started using flow simulations and have had some problems. The system becomes incredibly unresponsive, everything is stutters, the programs crash from time to time, and it basically prevents me from doing work. My specs are listed below and in depth on my profile and I basically am looking for recommendations for upgrades. I am a student on a tight budget - $400 CAD. Specs: AMD FX-8350 (got free from family with a HP AM3+ mobo), 8gb DDR3 ram, Radeon R7 360 gpu, Corsair CX600m psu, Corsair H60 AIO cooler, 2 Bitfenix spectre pro fans, 2 arctic cooling rev 1.2 rans, nzxt fan controller, all inside a bitfenix prodigy m case.

So recently I've been dealing with temperature issues with my CPU and as suggested on the forums here, it is most likely the issue with TIM and I may have to delid the CPU, Which is very risky and for some reason I can't find the tools here in India to do that, I'll have to take it to the repair store and see. But on a second thought, I'm more considering that I should be upgrading my PC right now. My current specs : Processor : Intel Core i7-4770K Motherboard : Asus Z97-A RAM : HyperX 8GB DDR3 (x2) PSU : Corsair CX600W GPU : Asus GTX 780 DC II OC Cooler : Corsair GTX H100i Chassis : CoolerMaster CM690 III Now I want to keep my Cooler as I don't think there's any problem with that, the pump seems cool enough and it's working just fine so far. I'll keep my graphics card for now and also the chassis, I don' think I need to upgrade those for now. What I want to upgrade is the CPU so it's obvious I'll need a new Motherboard + DDR4 RAM + PSU Which is why I seek help from you guys, I'm not much into tech to know which one would be best for me, my daily use of PC is for 3D Modeling studies and gaming. I sculpt and model characters, or well, at least learning to, for now. Studying online. I game in my free time and keep myself up to date with the big titles that come out, so I'm not using it for Minecraft. I would like to upgrade my GPU sometime next year, I'll be running with GTX 780 for now. So I was suggested by some guy in my area that I should go with : + Ryzen 1700 + Asus B350 + 16 GB DDR4 And for the PSU, I considered + Corsair RM850 The cost estimated roughly will come around to 65000 Rs. that translates to about 1000 US Dollars. I initially wanted and still have my heart set on Intel's new Core i7 8700K but the dude told me that I shouldn't go with an Intel setup this time, I don't know the reasons he just told me that it would be better to go with Ryzen for my needs. So I need the help of you people. My important question would be : Ryzen or Coffeelake? According to what's suggested, please let me know the setup I should run with to upgrade (CPU + Motherboard + RAM + PSU) EDIT : I learned that if I go with Ryzen, I will need an AM4 Upgrade kit for my GTX H100i Cooler, is there any upgrade kit required if I go with Cofffeelake? Thank you!

Hi everyone! I've decided it's time to upgrade my three year old build because I really want to play COD ww2 (like I said don't judge) but it runs extremely poorly on my pc. My build: - CPU: 3.2 GHz Intel Pentium G3258 - Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 - Motherboard: Gigabyte Z97MX-Gaming 5 For the record, I cannot add another graphics card to the motherboard since the other pci real estate is being used by an ethernet card (ethernet is not working on the motherboard). Thanks so much in advance for any responses!

My Current CPU, GPU and RAM * Processor - AMD fx6000 - six core * Ram - 4gb * Graphic Card - AMD radeon r5 250 series So I've done research on my graphics card and to my understanding it's series was made in like 2012 which I've heard is really weak for running more up to date games and or some games in general. With my experience playing on this setup, I find myself having to lower the resolution or lowering my settings which ends up extremely hindering my gaming experience and leaves me frustrated and unhappy. Surprisingly after 3 years I have finally come to the "realization" that this is not the way to enjoy games xD! Like I said before I have done some research and with little to some knowledge of computers i have come to the conclusion/thesis on how to improve my gaming experience. My "Fix" *Replace the graphics card with a gtx 1050ti (maybe gtx 1060ti although it might be to high end) *Upgrade ram to maybe 8GB (thinking of probably 16GB) I've looked up on Youtube the exact same setup and it seems to give the frame rate and experience I'm looking for. (A constant 50 - 60 FPS in most games with medium settings applied) With my current GPU and RAM I can barely run most games getting around about 20 - 30 FPS on most games When replacing the ram, should i use ddr3 or ddr4? I know there will always be small bottlenecks but I've also done research on my Processor and am uncertain how much my current CPU will bottleneck the gtx 1050? Is this the right way to go about my issue? Will this give me a better experience? Give me some tips and advice on what to do thnks

Long time LTT watcher and forum lurker... but my first post here, so I apologize in advance if I'm doing something wrong. I built my first PC quite a few years ago. And while it's still pretty fast (especially since I finally added in an SSD), I could always do with a little something more. The desire to upgrade is real. I got an Asus Z97-E ATX LGA1150 motherboard, an i5-4460 at 3.2ghz quad core, and an XFX Radeon R9 390 8GB. It runs pretty well, plays most all of the games I want to play at an acceptable level of quality (my monitors are only 1080p and I don't intend to upgrade to 4k anytime soon). But I feel like I could be getting more out of my CPU. With the motherboard that I have I can only go up to a 4790K... which seems decent, but also pretty expensive when you consider that I could get one from a newer generation with better specs - but I'd have to upgrade my motherboard. Is it worth buying a new motherboard to get a more modern CPU? Or should I stick with the motherboard I have and get the best CPU it will support? What will give me the best upgrade path? And will a better CPU even improve my experience at all or would I be better off waiting until I can afford a better graphics card? I'd almost prefer getting a new motherboard simply so I can downsize and get a smaller computer case (having a huge PC is inconvenient)... and at that point I wonder if I should just sell it all and start over fresh... Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Hello, I would like to hear some input on my situation. Right now I have a motherboard that has 4 DDR3 RAM slots, and at the moment I have a 2x4gb RAM setup. I would like to upgrade to 16gb RAM from 8gb. which option would be better, buying another set of the same RAM to get the 16gb, or buying two brand new 2x8gb RAM sticks? The RAM sticks I am using now are: https://www.amazon.com/Avexir-Channel-240-Pin-Desktop-AVD3U16001104G-2CW/dp/B00J6LGHW4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1504232927&sr=8-2&keywords=pc+ram+avexir

Hi folks ! I want to upgrade my Intel stock cooler to a Alpfenföhn or similar, because frankly its just freakin' loud. My question is can I remove the stock cooler and upgrade to another one without having to disassemble my whole PC ? I really wouldn't want to do that. My case has a windows on the backside of the mobo where I think I could install the backplate of the new cooler. Motherboard:As Rock H170M-Pro4S Thanks ! P.S. if u need photos of the backside of the Mobo I can take some

I have almost no budget. 1. United States, ~$100 Current parts available for use in upgrade build: (FROM BUILD DOWN BELOW) 500 W PSU, 500 GB HDD, 1 x 4 GB DDR3, Wireless Card (probably). I have a case, no need to worry. Case can fit all motherboard sizes, checked with manufacturer; however, case no longer exists online! A friend of mine gave me a Radeon HD 4300, but my current build's motherboard doesn't have ANY PCI slots!!! 2. The system I want will be used for light gaming, in my school's eSports Club (minecraft, online flash games, world of tanks/warplanes/warships, etc. [probs Overwatch - eventually - but only when I get enough money for it]) 3. 1 Monitor, standard definition (1200x780, something like that). No more and no less, only 1. VGA/DVI inputs. 4. No prehiprials needed. I have speakers, a mouse, a keyboard, monitor, and plenty of cables. I have a 64-bit WIN 7 ULTIMATE Disk ready to install, with a product key. 5. Why am I upgrading? Take a look at my current build (from a garage sale): Motherboard: Manufacturer: Pegatron Manufacturer name: IPM61-TB HP name: Tenby-U Intel Pentium Dual-Core G2020T (Ivy Bridge) (35 W) 2.5 GHz/Core Integrated Intel HD UMA Graphics (No discrete GPU, doesn't support one) Wireless LAN 802.11b/g/n featuring Single-band (2.4 Ghz) 1 x 1 4 GB RAM (1 x 4 GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 (runs at PC3-10600 in this system) 500 GB WD BLUE DESKTOP, 7200 rpm, SATA 6G Windows 7 Professional Samsung DVD+RW Drive, SATA connector 500 W Bronze PSU (brand unknown, cannot find either. Is modular.) In other words: I need a CPU and a Motherboard that will fit my small budget and gaming needs. There are simply too many choices and I don't have the time to do research; High School is busy. I am sacrificing time right now doing this! (I will buy more DDR3 RAM later, to make it 8 or 12 GB in total. You can also recommend me RAM options). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Budget & Location You may have listed a heap of parts that all add up to your preferred budget but it is easier if you just list the total amount you'd like to spend and the currency as well as if you'd consider going above that budget for more performance. We need the location as well because $US are different to $AUD and $CAD ect. 2. Aim What is the system going to be used for? Web browsing, 3D work? Different systems need different levels of performance - a computer based for web browsing and office use won't handle heavy graphic design and video editing and a proper video editing system isn't good for gaming. If your aim is for gaming, please list what sort of gaming. In the same way that different usage types need different systems, you'll need a lot more power to run Far Cry 3 or Crysis 2 than you would Minecraft. 3. Monitors How many monitors do you plan on running? Do you plan on moving to more monitors in the future? What resolution are they at too? 4. Peripherals Do you also need to purchase peripherals such as keyboards and mice as well as monitors ect. Also please tell us if you'll need an OS such as Windows. 5. Why are you upgrading? We ask this because you may see upgrading as the only path to solve an issue but things such as driver updates, reconfiguration or cleaning can boost performance without spending a cent. Please copy and paste the major dot points into your thread as it makes it easier for us to give you better feedback. Have fun and keep building

I built my first PC a few months ago but since then a few games have game out and have been more intense on my computer such as PUBG where I get anywhere from 40-80fps on high and 90-130fps on D2 but I just think my PC needs and upgrade here's my current PC https://pcpartpicker.com/user/SwordsofAnarchy/saved/qQBf7P Here's the possible upgrade I was thinking of https://pcpartpicker.com/user/SwordsofAnarchy/saved/yzFKZL any suggestions are appreciated

I have 400 euros to spend, Currently I have an Intel G4400, GIGABYTE GTX950 OC, 4GB DDR3 RAM 3300MHz-single stick, H110M-K D3 Motherboard and a LEPA MX-F1 450W. I got recommended some Kingston Hyperx 16GB pair of RAM sticks, Corsair cx450 PSU and an Intel i5 6500, I just want to make sure that everything is comparable and I won't have any problems. I want to play Overwatch and maybe BF1 with it, I wouldn't mind 1080p gameplay on the lowest settings.

So this is a little odd but i figured this more or less fit in the cpu department. So i have a 1700x and i've been putting it through its paces in games, video editing and rendering. So lately i've been getting into animating with blender, using the cyles engine. Now the 1700x is good for stills but it takes a long time to render out an animation. Even a low quality 30 second 30 fps animaion takes a really long time to render and i really want to push higher quality. So i know blender has a gpu compute option, however i only have a single rx 480, and my ram is slow, a barebones 2133 kit i got months before ryzens launch. So should i upgrade my ram or go and try to get threadripper once i get a job or go for vega for more compute power? What would be the better choice?

Hello everyone, I've been watching Linus's videos for a little while now and just now found he has a forum. I've decided to FINALLY upgrade to a better PC (currently on a 2011 SONY VAIO all-in-one). A store that's nearby is called Memory Express, a Canadian chain that sells computers, and I found this on their website when comparing part prices, http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX66947 . It's around the same price I was willing to spend for a new PC, but the most important thing to me is that I'll be able to run games at the highest settings (which I don't doubt), but also that it'll be a lasting investment. Essentially, do you see this PC still being decently usable in the next half-decade? Thanks.

gpu Help me choose the perfect graphics card for my system
AMDGrill posted a topic in Graphics Cards
Greetings! As title says; I am looking to get a new GPU for my Potato rig that I am slightly upgrading. Here, let me list out the specs: Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHZ 6MB Processor + ThermalTake NiC F4 Cooler 3x4=12GB GSkill Ripjaws 1866Mhz DDR3 Dual Channel RAM ThermalTake SmartPower 80+ Bronze 550W PSU with 504W of power at 12V Max WD C. Blue 64mb 1TB HDD WD C. Blue 16mb 500GB HDD Dark Raiden ATX Case ( A Local brand case, installed 5x Asiahorse Solar Eclipse fans - 2x on Front, 2x at the top and 1x at Rear, has a 14cm Side intake currently vacant) And finally a potato GPU of Asus Nvidia GeForce GT630 2GB 128-bit with 810Mhz core and 1800Mhz Memory speed. The rig is currently running Windows 8 Pro, and as you can see from the specs, its not really impressive. The GPU is very subpar and I'm looking to replacing it. This computer is currently used for extended hours of intense gaming (GTA V & BF3 etc @Low-Mid settings @30~fps Things to consider when getting the new GPU Must not burn a hole in my wallet. Cannot give you a price range because of market pricing ( a $200 card should be 700₺ but its 1200₺ instead -- example) Not looking for something very high end, As you can see my CPU is fairly lackluster and I dont have the budget to upgrade it anytime soon, must not bottleneck too much(No xx70-xx80s) My case supports up to 30cm VGA cards. Must fit Must work with my current PSU. My PSU has the necessary GPU power outputs (8Pin and 6Pin etc) but as you can see its not very high capacity. Must give noticeable FPS increase, To elaborate, I want to be able to play games at medium settings after this upgrade at 45~ FPS On a side note, I want the take all the load from my GPU. I want the next bottlenecking part of my system is to be my CPU. To elaborate, Lets say I want to play GTA V at the highest graphics my system can handle, I want to be able to push my GPU to the level where my CPU can no longer keep up. I plan to get a CPU in the future, an AMD FX X6 or X8 maybe, but as I stated above, not anytime soon. Preferances An Asus Nvidia card. I know a lot of you guys would recommend going for a Radeon hence my CPU but I dont feel comfortable with AMD GPUs from my past experiences. What I dont care VR Support and very futuristic tech like the new PCI-E interface and whatnot. Hence this card will stay on this motherboard for the rest of its life, I want something that will run just right with my current CPU and my next one ( Performance matching wise) Thank you for your time if you have read this far and cared to comment your opinion -
It's a simple question: I recently bought and built an entirely new system and despite the fact that I'm very much enjoying the performance and looks of it, there are some parts I'm not 100% convinced of/ regret buying. My budget wasn't by any means what I would consider low but it certainly wasn't as high as I would have liked it to be, so I had to make some small compromises here and there. Anyway that's enough about that intro. The question is how do you manage your 'buyers anxiety' when there are so many good products out there and tech advances so rapidly? One day your rig is amazing but then X product launches and you desperately need to have it. Since I don't have a large amount of cash, that helps a bit (lol). But seriously tho... How do you guys approach the rapid improvements and innovations that are characteristic of the tech industry? How do you know what to buy and what not to buy when new and tempting products are always being released all the time? How do you guys stay happy with what you got when one day you have everything you wanted and the next day some company releases something that you (obviously) don't have because it didn't exist and, more importantly, you didn't know you wanted but now do you! (If that makes any sense).
