Hey, I was wondering if it is worth doing a windows 11 install rather than windows 10 install when it comes to gaming performance (games such as elden ring or other relatively new titles). (PC Specs are highlighted in my profile)

I'm planning on selling my desktop that I bought as a prebuild but have made some changes too. Here are the specs: Intel I5 8400 with intel stock cooler MSI GTX 1060 3gb 8 GB of DDR4 RAM (1 stick) Gigabyte H310M S2H motherboard Some offbrand 600 watt PSU Deepcool MACUBE 110 case (with one 120 mm case fan) 120 gb ssd 1 tb ssd 1 tb 7200 rpm HDD Windows 10 The pc is in pretty good state I'd say. I have not gamed a lot on it, only the first two years I had it (I bought it in 2018), and I have never used it for mining. The new case is only half a year old and it hasn't any scratches or anything. How much do you guys think I can sell this for right now?

Hi. I've been considering purchasing a Ryzen 5600X to upgrade my old 1700 and keeping my motherboard, an ASRock x370 Fatal1ty Professional Gaming (basically a Taichi, so in fact there is the unofficial firmware to support the Vermeer CPUs). Check I was just wondering if I will require an intermediate CPU, such as a 3600 to properly flash it through the bridge versions. I've only upgraded the BIOS firmware to v. 5.30 or 5.80. Newer versions have this warning: Such warning makes me wonder if upgrading it will kill the support with the Ryzen 1700 or if it will be possible to follow with the updgrades until the v.7's that support Vermeer CPUs. In case anyone could shed some light, that will be greatly appreciated!

Is it worth it to upgrade the CPU?
GamingGamer69420 posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hey, I wanted to ask if it is worth upgrading my processor, I have an i5-9400f and want to upgrade to an i7-9700k or i7-10700k. I have a B360I motherboard and an RTX 2060, I plan to mainly play CoD:MW and plan on playing the new one that's coming out soon. Is upgrading the CPU worth it or not? -
Hiya guys, first post here as I'm desperate lol So I decided to upgrade my Pentium G3258 to a I7-4770k.. issue is that once the new CPU is locked in and all seems well, the lights on fans turn on a second then off again and that's all the action I get. Motherboard I'm working with is the Asus B85M-G. Everything has said that they both should work straight out of the box... I've updated the bios,, reset the battery in the motherboard,, and nothing yet. Ram supported by CPU is DDR3 and I am using DDR3 btw Thank you for reading -Bee

Good day, forum. (God I have no idea how to write these things) My brother intrigued me two days ago as he found an offer for a 700€ ROG STRYX 3070. Coincidentally, I considered upgrading from my Stryx GTX 1080 to a 3070. However he was like "Buh your CPU sucks, your PSU is sh*t, don't even bother wasting your money". Now I want to hear from the wise people. YOU. Below is information of what I do, and what parts my build has. The main quesiton here really is: Is this what you see below fit for a 3070, or should I upgrade more stuff? And if I were to just slot one of these boys in my PCI-E, are there any bottlenecks in my existing build? Thank you in advance, -RalphAlpha111 Budget (including currency): 1.000€ (flexible) Country: Austria Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: AAA games of 2020; incl. Watch Dogs Legion, DOOM Eternal, main usage goal: VR applications - VRChat, HL:A, light video editing for my dying youtube chanél Other details: CURRENT PARTS: MB: MSI B450 Tomahawk Max CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Cooling: Stock cooler (Wraith Stealth) Video Card: Stryx GTX 1080 PSU: Uh.. an old 700 W unit from 2011 I think. It was in an old pre-built Dell PC, which is now dismantled. GAMING PREFERENCE: 1080p - 120 FPS VR: Valve Index 120 FPS GOAL: Upgrading to a 3070 with little to no bottlenecks, getting recommendations as to what I'm going to need to upgrade/watch out for.

So here i am, thinking my 7 year old RAM sticks is getting old, am i wrong? Currently my PC houses this ram; Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3000MHz 16GB 2x8GB (PC4-24000) CL15, XMP2.0 I am no pC genius, and thats why i ask. Just ordered a 5900x, and read some quick topics regarding u actually having a boost in performance on earlier zens when coupled with newer ram. Is this the case on 5900x too? according to those basic ram comparison sites i only get about 6-7% effective speed increase on newer sticks so i dunno. Love to get the most out of my system .

I have ordered the first set of parts. Case, board, RAM, and SSD. Just waiting for a 3080 to come in stock, and for the Zen 3 to launch, and become available. It's going to replace my Haswell system, with a Xeon, 32 GB of DDR3, and 980. My old system is going to get stripped down, the SSD's and 2TB decaying rust drives will get pulled, and I'm going to drop some 10TB drives in, for a redundant high capacity storage system. This machine originally had a 500GB boot drive and the 2TB in it, but I eventually upgraded to SSD's for boot and gaming drives. It originally had a Core i5 4440, but about a year ago, I bought a 3.6 ghz used Xeon, and that alone kept this system kicking until now. The final piece of the puzzle was the GPU. I had a 550TI that was held over from a previous machine, but when the fans on it died, I looked into getting a GTX 970. The memory controversy turned me off so much to the thought of the 970, the I saved up and got a 980 instead (this was previous to the 980TI launch). This 980 has been a champ, the only thing that has ever held it back was the power limit. I also had tried to get a 1080TI after they launched, but bitcoin miners wrecked the pricing, so I never did upgrade the GPU. I originally wanted to upgrade to an i9 9900k, with a 2080TI, but pricing... Was always awful. I almost pulled the trigger on Ryzen 1000 series, and even the 2000 series was super appealing, but I decided to go for the 3000 series. System was planned to be a Ryzen 9 3900x, 2080TI, 16GB of DDR4, and a 2TB SSD boot drive, but now it looks like 5900x, 3080, and a Gen4 SSD. It's kinda funny, this system is actually more expensive than the 3900x/2080TI, but not by much, and with better performance. I'm going Ryzen 9 over the 10/11 series of Intel for two reasons. The small one: I'm doing more rendering than I was before (this is why the Haswell system is no longer sufficient), and the really big reason... The LGA1200 has absolute garbage options for Micro ATX boards. I'll be building a second machine, probably with a 3900x, and a Radeon 5600, for storage. It'll probably get another set of 10TB drives, but it'll also get some 2TB SSD's for high speed data access to video files, to make rendering easier. The old haswell Xeon system will be a storage vault. I might also set it up to store cryptocurrency, using a detachable drive setup... But we'll see.

Budget (including currency): 0 dollars Country: Dominican Republic Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hi, is it worth sidegrading my 3d rendering pc to only gaming 1950x to 3700x for free? In 2018 i builded a 3d rendering worsktation for maya and 3ds max, with a Ryzen tr 1950x, 64gb of ram 2400mhz, and rtx2080. i use a 4k 60hz 75 inch tv without adaptive sinc. I am no longer using it for work and just gaming with it in my mancave. I play red dead redemption 2, horizon zero dawn, assassins creed odissey, and waiting to play ciberpunk. I like good visuals (high or ultra) 4k 60hz with 80% scaling to get constant 60hz with vsinc. Dont care about high refresh rate, i dont play competitive games. My 1% lows are very bad and i get constant stuttering, so i changed the ram to 32gb of ddr4 3200. And most of of the stuttering is gone. But i have the option of sidegrading from a 1950x to a 3700x without spending money, just selling my old mobo and cpu. And i want to know if it is worth it. just to get stable 60fps for the next great AAA games.

So i am building a pc just meant for video streaming and editing, no gaming. So I just wanted a cheap GPU with decent video encoding. I wanted to know if the 1630 had the same video encoder as other Nvidia GPUs. Or if the a380 is stable enough to take advantage of the better AV1 encoder? both are about the same at my micro center so which one is the better buy?

Budget (including currency): Around $1200 USD Country: USA Verdict: So currently I'm just Editing on Davinci Resolve which for the build I have now, it gets slow at times, and I thought my memory was fine but I think I might need more or get a better version with 64 GBs instead to make it less of a hassle. But editing aside, the following is slightly a bigger priority of mine, I also Stream often and I done a couple test runs and whenever I play long hours I tend to get dropped frames on Stream especially on games with HD graphics like It Takes Two, so, again maybe better/more ram is needed. Gaming without Streaming anything is fantastic so no problem there. Other details: I plan on streaming on 1080p 60 for the most part, as far as editing, Its nothing insane like, I'm not editing 4K footage at all. Its 1080p gameplay and I'm cutting them up, maybe a few transitions with subtitles but that's it. I leave the pro FX to the experts if I want anything extra I would just not like to have to worry about any lag or setbacks when doing my tasks and streaming, I just want it out the way. I don't think I need to upgrade my motherboard but if that's what helps than so be it. I really think its either GPU or the Memory, or Both that need upgrades to help my case but, you guys know more than me. All help is appreciated, thanks! This is the build that I have, and I would just like to know what I should upgrade first, I find that it can't keep up with my 144hz monitor on most games, I have a budget of about 200$ Thanks in advance https://skytechgaming.com/product/archangel-amd-fx-6300-nvidia-gtx-2gb-gddr5-1tb-7200-rpm-hdd-8gb-ram/

I wanted to get into VR gaming for a while, and about a month ago I decided to run a few tests to see if my current PC/laptop was VR compatible, and the only issue was that the graphics card needed to be upgraded. However due to the nature of the PC/laptop that I currently have, upgrading the graphics card isn't very feesible. The card is apparently integrated into the motherboard, so I can't just swap it out, and I basically have to upgrade in order to even play in VR. So I decided to get a VR compatible gaming laptop. However, even though I basically think I know what build I want to get, I'm not sure if it's the best thing to get with how much I plan on spending on it. The objective is to be able to play the Valve Index flawlessly, and nearly seamlessly, as well as being somewhat future proof in case newer vr headsets come out with a higher refresh rate. My budget it $3200 USD including tax. I'm willing to go maybe $200 USD more than that if it means something a bit better, however I would like a laptop. As it would allow me to be more mobile if I wanted to take my headset(s) around with me. Included is a list of parts, and the current computer that I have my eye on. Suggestions would be very helpful if it would mean that I'm able to get the most out of the money that I would be spending for this venture. The cost of the build shown in this post is about $3200 USD after tax, with a coupon code for a discount.

THE ISSUE 1) I can't play a few games on my PC as they do not meet the minimum requirements (one example Universe Sandbox which usually crashes after 15min - See requirements for this game at Steam if you desire). Also note I do not alter settings and leave my games at their default settings. 2) Well doing screen recordings for YouTube I often find that the video has massive lag issues. This lag is less if I have less stuff opened. An example of a typical recording would be: OBS (video capture, windows capture, etc.), A browser (usually Fire Fox) with 4 or more tabs open ranging from articles or a YouTube video. I don't notice the lag during the recording and only find it out when done and I'm checking the video for basic issues (audio sync, etc.). CURRENT BUILD 1) Case - NZXT Phantom 43.0 Full Tower https://www.nzxt.com/products/phantom-white 2) Motherboard - AsRock FM2A78M-HD+ https://www.newegg.com/asrock-fm2a78m-hd/p/N82E16813157482 3) Processor - AMD A10-5800K APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, 4200 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s) 4) Ram - 12gb DDR3 Team Group Inc. (Total Physical ram 10.9; Available Physical Memory 6.09 GB; Total Virtual Memory 12.6 GB; Available Virtual Memory 6.94 GB) 5) Hard Drive - WDC WD20EADS-00S2B0 2tb (Capacity: 1.8 TB; Formatted: 1.8 TB) 6) Power Supply - LEPA N500 (https://www.newegg.com/lepa-n-series-n500-sa-500w/p/N82E16817494002) My THOUGHTS & BUDGET I'm looking to upgrade either the whole PC ($800-$900 USD budget, but using the same tower to save some money) or upgrade the Processor and switch the hard drive to a 2tb SSD ($400-$600 USD budget). Of course the question than become would just upgrading the processor and hard drive make much of a difference or should I bite the bullet and upgrade all or most parts in my current PC. I watched a few videos from LinusTech on budget builds under $800 for 2020, but some of the parts are not longer in stock. And I've had issues searching for processor compatible with my 6 year old mother board. Any advice or tips would be nice. PC HISTORY I bought this PC from a eBay seller (who has since been kicked off eBay & Paypal for fraudulent activity); yes lesson learned. It was a gift to myself when graduated from college. It was purchased for about $875.
