Hi All, I've Had my Dell XPS 15 9550 for around 3 and a half years, It has served me well, even after a battery recall, and some gaming and programming without looking too damn crazy and over the top. I'm now considering an upgrade to my laptop. Specs of my Current Dell XPS 15 9550 Core i7 6700HQ, 16GB 2133Mhz RAM, 512 GB Samsung NVME SSD, GTX960M, 4K IPS Touch Screen When I'm at home I got it hooked up to my Dell 4K 27 inch monitor, and a Dell D6000 Dock Station to have my Corsair K70 RGB (That I refuse to make it go seizure mode with RGB and have set it to white only) and other External Drives connect to my Laptop, cause the available ports on the XPS can run out real quick. I was somewhat annoyed when I saw that the XPS 15 7590 on the Dell Australia is loaded with a GTX1650, rather than the RTX Cards which is considerably far better than the Current GTX 960M in my laptop or a GTX1650 for that matter, and no extra ports... I speced it similarly to what I have currently it would set me back AUD$3.5K... for the OLED 4K Screen and AUD$3.6K... for the 4K IPS Touch Screen. More than enough to make me sit in the corner and cry myself to sleep... Anyway, Here's my General Prerequisites that I'm looking in a Laptop. i7 8th or 9th gen 16GB RAM 512GB NVME SSD 15inch - 16inch IPS screen with Silm bezels and no OLED cause I don't wanna have Burn in it needs to be thin, and powerful not over AUD$3K. aiming for the 2.5K to 2.75K range preferably While I'll miss having a 4K screen on a laptop, as it stands there are other better deals out there for laptops. Any suggestions is appreciated.

So I will try to make my situation as short as possible, but I want to give a clear picture of what decision I need to make and I would really appreciate help from you guys. My goal: Is to play games in 4k resolution on a good 4k TV with great sound system sitting on a couch and possibly play some local CO-OP/split screen from time to time. (mostly play by myself) My current situation: I only play on PC and my gaming setup is as following; CPU: Processor Intel® Core™ i5-4690K CPU @ 3.50GHz Manufacturer Intel Speed 3.5 GHz Number of Cores 4 GPU: Video Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 Manufacturer Chipset GeForce GTX 960 Dedicated Memory 4.0 GB Total Memory 10 GB Memory: RAM 12 GB Motherboard: Z97-P Current monitor is: ASUS ROG Swift PG278QR, 27'', 2560 x 1440 with 165hz and g-sync. Power supply: is 500W By end of may this year or the start of June is when I am planning to upgrade my gaming experience (due to me and my girlfriend is moving into a new apartment by that time), we will get a 4k TV to our new apartment regardless. Budget: I am willing to spend 1000$ - 1500$, but that includes everything; Montiors/tv, parts, console, controllers, cables etc. I could eventually stretch the budget to about 2000$ by the time I am getting everything. My question to you is as follow: To reach my goal (you can find my goal at the start of this thread) should I try to upgrade my current PC, build/buy a completely new PC or get Xbox One X? Keep in mind that what ever i decide to do, I want to play on a 4k TV. So I will need a 4k nonetheless but the TV will be bought by me and my girlfriend so the price of the TV will be split amongst us 2. - I am aware that this a long thread but I would really like some advices on what to do and for you to shed some light on my situation and decision to make. Especially from someone that know alot more then me when it comes to gaming experience, PC, console and more. Thanks in advance.

so, here is the dilemma. i have been using my gaming PC for 5 years now. never had issues with anything, runs any game good or bad and has (obviously) degraded over the time i have spent using it. i have taken a liking to vr and so i purchased an oculus rift etc etc. everything stayed the same blah blah (just to note, i did buy myself a gtx 1050ti on release which i kept until 13 days ago). vr was not as smooth as it could be with just my 1050ti but was still enjoyable, nevertheless i still wanted that "better experience" and turned to eBay, where i scored a gtx 1070 founders for little under 200 pounds, installed it, cried like a baby while waiting for the drivers to install. all was fine until i tried vr. minor improvements. this is where i decided to finally do a full spec upgrade on my PC whilst at the same time going within my budget (student currently on EMA, you can guess how that plays out money wise). **im going for a used build** oof anyway, i sold my 1050ti and make a nifty 80 pounds (was in great condition :v) i now have an extra 80 lying about --> going toward pc cost. give it time and i can accumulate enough funds to get all i need, piece by piece. problem is that i cant find these pieces. which takes me to a few days back....Linus how on earth did you source these components...and where? im looking all over for them sweet deals at the moment im looking for a cpu, mostly for 7600k i5/i7, then onto ram (going for 16gb at least) then onto cooling. i currently have the 850w psu I've been rocking for all this time to keep me going progress so far is; -asus prime z270-p (snagged for 45 pound) -gtx 1070 (stated above) -bunch of 120mm corsair red led fans w/8 way fan splitter (bundle i snagged for 30 from a friend) -5 years worth of accumulated thermal paste and dust spray??? (cost probably something when i bought them) -old 850w HEC Compucase G7 psu (old and running still -Corsair spec 03 case (my old case, will continue to be my case, im keeping the 5 years worth of sticker bombing too) -HDD's blah blah but also a brand new SSHD from sea-gate. -some old cpu cooler that probably wont even fit an lga 1151 socket to be fair -ton of cables -copy of windows home linked to my account blah blah and finally -a 2m string of red LED's that i had under my bed for some reason. im basically asking for help in the little fixes i can do to improve this "upgrade" and so im turning to the tech "bros" blah blah etc etc because i can sentence properly don't worry. all in all im planning on making a used lga1151 build suitable for vr... i should have just said that at the start but hey if you read this your thinking the same probably. EDIT: forgot to add but i am not looking for links here, just advice and tips on sourcing these things, i.e upon new releases etc EDIT2: i have sourced myself an intel i5 7600k that i sniped in a bid for little under 130 pounds, as well as that i managed to get hold of 16gb ddr4 ram by corsair for just under 60. im thinking of possible getting an m.2 ssd as a boot device as my hdd is again 5 years old and definitely slows me down. as for graphics, i dont exactly need anything but perhaps a second 1070 in sli would be a good investment as some point? if theres any thoughts on this please let me know

I have been using my own build for a good few years now and it can run the newer games but not on the highest settings (which is fine by me) and most of them I can reach around high 40 fps to mid/high 50 fps and sometimes 60 fps . But I have been thinking to upgrade some of my pc parts. So I'm wondering which parts are best to upgrade. (note I live in EU) -------------PC SPEC---------------- CPU: Intel i5-6500 @3.2ghz GPU: MSI gtx 960 4GB RAM: Kingston 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 CPU cooler: be quiet! shadow rock 2 Motherboard: MSI z170A pc MATE ATX LGA1151 Storage: Samsung SSD 750 EVO 250 GB WD Blue 1 TB 7200 RPM PSU: Cooler Master G550M 80+ bronze case: NZXT Phantom 410 monitor: iiyama G-Master GE2788HS, 1920x1080, 60Hz

Hi I currently plan to upgrade my GTX 970. I'm considering 1070ti, and 1080ti. I have a monitor that is 1080p 144hz. I know some people say 1080ti is too much. but having max settings at a constant 144hz is not too much for me. but I want to know which is best for me price wise and also performance wise. I have 16gb DD3 ram 1600MHz Also, i'm planning on buying a used gpu because I can't afford a brand new one.

I'm trying upgrade my aging i3 3220 build from a more than half a decade ago. I'm from the Philippines and my budget is around PHP 20,000 ~ USD 385 I've abandoned using my Pc for my laptop years ago, but even my laptop feels a bit sluggish under a heavy mix of engineering programs/gaming recently. Particularly running Autodesk Autocad/Revit/Fusion 360/Blender & TW3/CivV/Cities:Skyline respectively. Not much of a graphics enthusiast, just want to have smooth gameplay. Also do light video editing with Davinci Resolve if that factors in to anything Peripheral wise I used to run two 1366x768 monitors for my pc but since relegated the second monitor for my laptop. Moving forward I recently bought a 2 screen monitor arm and consolidate my two monitors to my pc again. Basic keyboard / mx anywhere 2s / win 10 Carry overs from my old pc are my: GPU - Asus 750ti / HDD - Segate 1tb / SSD - Kingston 128gb / Case - generic basic case (thinking of replacing it if possible) Parts List: CPU/RAM/MoBo: Ryzen 5 2600 / 8gb ddr4 2400 / Msi B350M PRO-VD PLUS (Bundle) Php 15,300 link (lazada.ph) This was a pretty neat find for me, cpu motherboard bundles of the 2600 usually cost at least a thousand more than that and doesn't include ram. I bought ram from this seller a month ago and they seem legit. PSU: Seasonic S12II 620 Bronze (SS-620GB) 620W Php 3,448 link (lazada.ph) Of all the component categories aside graphics card, power supplies seemed to be the most marked up and limited in terms of options in my area. An alternative I did find is the Corsair cx550m for php 4,250. Case: Honestly, I'm completely paralyzed by the amount of choices in this category. Can you suggest cases around php 2000 ~ usd 40 y'all like, doesn't have to be from a local marketplace I just want to see what is possible under this price point. Not big on rgb tho. My gpu will most probably bottleneck the system... I just want to have six cores for that sweet quick blender render. (and mid tier gpus and higher cost like a fortune here). Never OC'ed before but might explore it a bit to eek out that extra performance.

For a while now I've been wanting to upgrade my gpu from my 750ti. I cant afford something over around $250. I considering something like a gtx 980ti, gtx 1060 6gb, or an Rx 580 8gb. Brand doesn't really matter, but my preferred brand is asus.

So I'm in the process of choosing parts to upgrade my old Windows 7 i5-4690k PC. I'm going to keep the 750w psu and my GTX 970 to use in my new system, until I get more saved for a RTX. I'm mostly going to use it as a gaming PC but I also am in the process of learning Android development, I also do some HTLM and Java programming, but at the moment I'm still new to Android. I'm upgrading becasue Windows 7 only supports 16GB of RAM and I have DDR3 atm. I might OC a little down the road, but I didn't OC my current PC and it's been fine for me. I was originally looking at the i7-9700k but after doing some research the last few day I'm leaning more towards the i7-8700k. For the MB I was getting the Asus ROG Strix z390-E but I've heard a lot about how Asus kinda dropped the ball with it's z390 boards. I also haven't chosen my case yet, I would like a full tower, but will take a mid tower if I like it, so I can upgrade again with SLI RTX cards and a water cooling setup. I also picked the most popular fan on pcpartpicker as a place holder until I finalize the rest to make sure I have a big enough fan. My part list that I have so far, I would like to keep the MB around $250 and the case around $200. Any advise would be helpful, I pick the Asus board since i have the Z97-A and have always gotten good boards from them. Hi, I am new to the forums. I have a really old laptop- a Samsung NT300V5A-A16B. I think I got it in like 2011 or so. It's running a Pentium B950, 8GB of DDR3 ram @1600mhz (originally had 4GB), and a painfully slow HM641JI hard drive. The laptop was extremely slow, and I mean really! It took 40 minutes to load into Windows and for all the icons to load. Opening a browser took 5 minutes. And if that's not enough, it also overheats. Since then, I've done a factory reset and cleaned the laptop. It still takes 10 minutes to load Windows, and a minute to open a browser. My parents want to use the laptop, but it is way too slow. I was very sure the hard drive was the problem, so I went ahead and bought a Crucial MX500 250GB SSD. Now here's a plot twist: The laptop screen is cracked and I cannot access the bios. The bios does not output to the TV via HDMI nor VGA. Normally I would plug the Windows Installation Media flash drive into the laptop and install Windows that way. But I have no way to boot from the flash drive since I don't have access to the bios. So instead, I used one of my other systems to install Windows onto the SSD. It went perfectly fine. I took the SSD out of the system and installed it onto the laptop. I booted it up, thinking it'll boot up fine. But no, for some reason the laptop screen turns on for half a second, goes blank for a second, and repeats. I have no clue why. So instead, I used a Sabrent 2.5" SATA Drive to USB 3.0 Adapter to connect the SSD to the laptop. I see output on the cracked screen, but there is no output on the TV. I tried using HDMI and VGA, with no success. At this point, I am completely clueless on what to do. Did I do something wrong? What should I do? Is there a way to display the BIOS to the TV? Or will this whole thing not work? I would appreciate any advice. Thank you.

I've had my Note 4 for a VERY long time and MAN that thing is built like a tank because it's lasted me so long. But I'd like to upgrade to something newer now and I really like Samsung phones. I know Linus had done a review of the S9 but I finished the video feeling still unsure if that's the phone I want to go with. I use my phone for maps, sensor readings depending on what I am doing, High functionality. Basically, I use my phone for really useful things. I like using twitch, twitter, Instagram and quite a few other apps as well as vlogging once in great while, so it'd be nice to have a good camera. My carrier is T-Mobile. Let me know what you guys would recommend based on my needs I listed, and what Samsung phone, or maybe another on-brand phone, you'd recommend.

Ok so bear with me for a minute because I like to type it ALL out so its easier for you all to help me without having to ask the basics. 1. Budget & Location $1500~ USD but can go up if needed. Fort Lauderdale, Florida 2. Aim Currently I only do 1080 video, but alot of it. I currently do not do 4k/8k video editing, but will in the future. I cover drag racing and do full feature event features, DVD's and BluRays. The editing isn't extravagant with crazy special effects and color grading/correction etc, BUT there is ALOT of fast paced editing. So I am just trying to speed up the workflow in Adobe Premiere Pro and Encore, which on my end has become alot faster since I started in 2010. So currently my computer is my hold up on waiting for things like renders, file transfer etc. plus alot of dropped frames and just all around lagging when I am trying to rush thru the editing progress. So with recommendations from alot of others with this new build I was wanting to do a 3 SSD setup with 2 of my current drives for local storage. I also have my 48tb QNAP which i move older stuff to and backup to regularly, but wanted to still keep some stuff locally incase its needed from previous events and edits. I was going to break down the SSD/HDD setup like this -m.2 1 - OS and Software (970 Pro)m.2 2 - Project files and source media (970 Evo)m.2 3 - Media Cache & Scratch files (970 Evo)HDD 1 + 2 - Storage for everything else I dont game, or OC at all, but do ALOT of video all day everyday. Im sure at this point anything I put together will be faster than my current setup. I also currently use Adobe Master Collection 5.5 and will be upgrading to Adobe CC with this new build. 3. Monitors Currently have 1 Samsung and 2 Acer's. Only 1 of the Acers is hooked up. I have 2 more of the same Samsung's in the box, just haven't hooked them up yet since I am redoing the office desk area along with this build. 4. Peripherals Reusing my current keyboard, mouse, speakers etc. 5. Why are you upgrading? Basically the computer I have I built as my first computer when I started really getting into the racing videos. I built it in March of 2010. I think since im coming up on 9 years of duty with this thing its about time. I have gotten faster at what I do, and the computer now slows me down. I have upgraded parts in it over the years, new SSD, newer HDD, newer GPU, more ram . I just feel its time to revamp most of it. Attached below is the original build from 2010, and the current Speccy list of what I am typing on with some changes. I plan on reusing the - HAF 932 case GTX 1050 Ti DVD Drive I purchased the GPU not too long ago so it will do for now. Im not planning on waiting another 9 years for upgrades, so the GPU can be upgraded in the next few months once the initial build is done. My racing season starts shortly and I need to get a jump on the main parts first. This is the PCPP list I currently have put together. The two WD HDD I added on there to layout the list, but I currently have them already installed in the current system. Hope this was all enough info to help with my questions. So my first gaming pc was a pre built Trace940 from iBuyPower and I'm wondering if it'll support a MSI Geforce GTX 1070 Ti. I believe it can but I don't want to buy a $400- $500 Graphics Card and find out that my computer can't support it. I have i7-8700 CPU, 16GB of ram, a 500 watt PSU. I'm pretty sure my computer can support just would like to know from people that know more than me since I'm knew to the PC gaming field and love it and want to get more into it I also stream and use 3 monitors all at 144HZ.

Need help finding a compatible motherboard!
mattwv02 posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Right now I need help... I currently have an Omen 870-224 (https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/omen-by-hp-870-200/13687063/model/15741160/document/c05389962) And i'm looking to upgrade, already going to add another 8gb memory, and a new hard drive, easily figured out those.... Now I have hit a road block, the motherboard, the motherboard is an Odense2-K and i'm having trouble finding a board that fits and would also accept my current internals so I can just move it all over. I mostly want to get a new board so I can expand my memory even more past 16gb but I have hit a wall as I cant find a board that has the same form factor and chipset (I don't want to have to buy a new case). If anyone can help I would much appreciate it. *and with a LGA 1151 processor socket -
I just got a rtx 2070 and am pretty much upgrading everything in my system that I got from Cyberpower over a year ago. Ram: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233859&ignorebbr=1 Motherboard: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813145048&ignorebbr=1 I am upgrading to these from some random 2x4 green gig ram and a b250m bazooka motherboard. Would the ram and the motherboard i picked out and the rtx 2070 and my cpu the i5 7400 (Upgrading later because I want to get a cpu that works with the new motherboard as the motherboard i have rn doesn't go past a i7 7600) be a good upgrade and what would you change for the same amount of money or a little bit more of a budget. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883230178 <------ This is the Cyberpowerpc I bought over a year ago and I have upgraded the PSU to a 600watt Silver Corsair, the fans to some better 120 corsair fans, and the gpu from the 1060 to the 2070. I would really appreciate any help that I can get and I hope anyone can help me with this. If you are confused on my description please leave a comment so I can clarify. Thanks!

Yesterday I asked if a i5 7400 would bottleneck a rtx 2070 and most of the replies were pretty much the same saying that it would, but not by a major amount. My question now is would my pc perform better with the rtx 2070 and the i5 or a gtx 1060 3gb plus the i5. I don't know a lot about PCs and want to know if that bottleneck on the rtx will hold it back to my current card. Thanks!

I`m upgrading my system from a Asus Prime A320M-K, To a MSI M7 AC (AMD Board) and from pc part picker, it says i need a 1 more EPS Power connector for the board, My current PSU (Corsair CX 550M) from the looks of it only has 1 EPS connector, need some recommendations for a PSU. RAM side hm... need it to be at least 3000Mhz and 16GB (need it for FL studio since it favors fast ram, gaming, productivity like Photoshop/premiere (has to be cheap RAM, these ram prices are stupid) Need a GPU Nvidia preferably (cheap not like a 1050ti but like a 1060 or AMD equivalent to a 1060 and if you want to help me more, need a cheap case that can be upgraded (must have glass window lel) and at least 2-4 Front USB Ports) I have only like 300-500$ on me from last year that I couldn't get my 1070ti due to Crypto mining back then so yeah... if you can keep it between 400$ and if necessary 500$ not more than 550$.

I'm thinking of adding a Geforce GT710 to upgrade my Acer aspire 280? pc I'm 90% sure that the model is the 281-eb11 and I might go down to best buy to get some parts for it before christmas and I need help. The power supply right now is either 300 or 350 watts and it will probably need an upgrade for the upgrade but I think I'll test it first before that, is there any damage that could occur by using it with too low of a wattage or will it just not work? I'm also wondering if there could be any issues as the built in GPU uses Gddr4 memory and the card only uses Gddr3 memory? Also are there any places or ways to return the card if it isn't compatible with my system? Link to the gpu I'll probably get https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/zotac-zotac-geforce-gt-710-2gb-gddr3-video-card-zt-71303-20h/10416248.aspx?
