Hiya guys, first post here as I'm desperate lol So I decided to upgrade my Pentium G3258 to a I7-4770k.. issue is that once the new CPU is locked in and all seems well, the lights on fans turn on a second then off again and that's all the action I get. Motherboard I'm working with is the Asus B85M-G. Everything has said that they both should work straight out of the box... I've updated the bios,, reset the battery in the motherboard,, and nothing yet. Ram supported by CPU is DDR3 and I am using DDR3 btw Thank you for reading -Bee

I just had some questions before upgrading my build. I'm planning on switching from an intel 7600k to a ryzen 5800x, and I wanna make sure I don't mess anything up. Questions I have: Will I have problems switching from intel to amd? Will I have to buy another windows license? Or will my old one still be good? I have a 250gb wd ssd, which is my bootup drive, in my current pc. If I need another windows license, do I still need the 250gb ssd? Or could I just use a different ssd? Thanks in advance!

Budget (including currency): Not very relevant, I'm just searching for the "top line" Country: Ukraine Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I just wan't my Doom Eternal to give me 60fps at minimal graphics on 1080p (but more is better of course) Current components: CPU: Intel Core i5-10400F 2.9 GHz 6-Core Processor Motherboard: ASRock B460M Pro4 Micro ATX LGA1200 Motherboard RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR4-3200 CL18 Memory (planning to buy 2 more sticks if that's relevant) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive and Crucial BX500 240 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive PSU: Cooler Master MWE Bronze V2 500 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply And finally GPU: Radeon RX550/550 Series (yes I know, not exactly the best choice to put it mildly, but I was stupid and impatient) Also my monitor is 1080p and 60Hz I made this build about 2 months ago and quickly realized that my GPU turned out to be very lacking, so now I want to sell this one and buy a better one and am looking for tips on what would fit best here. Thanks to everyone in advance!

So I was given the choice of picking 4-5 prebuilt machines that have been slightly upgraded already, but I don't know which ones to pick. I need help picking the best ones from the lineup. the choices and spec are below: OPTIPLEX 3040 Processor Type: INTEL CORE I5-6500 / Speed: 3.2 GHz / Memory Speed: 1600 / Memory Type: DDR3 / Size: 8 GB OPTIPLEX 3040 Processor Type: INTEL CORE I5-6500 / Speed: 3.2 GHz / Memory Speed: 1600 / Memory Type: DDR3 / Size: 8 GB ProDesk 400 G3 Processor Type: INTEL CORE I5-6500 / Speed: 3.2 GHz / Memory Speed: 2133 / Memory Type: DDR4 / Size: 8 GB PRODESK 600 G2 MT INTEL CORE I5-6500, Speed: 3.20GHZ, Size: 8 GB, HD Capacity: 1 TB ProDesk 400 G3 INTEL CORE I5-6500 / Speed: 3.2 GHz / Memory Speed: 2133 / Memory Type: DDR4 / Size: 8 GB ProDesk 400 G3 INTEL CORE I5-6500 / Speed: 3.2 GHz / Memory Speed: 2133 / Memory Type: DDR4 / Size: 8 GB IDEACENTRE 700-25ISH INTEL CORE I5-6400 / Speed: 2.7 GHz / Memory Speed: 2133 / Memory Type: DDR4 / Size: 8GB THINKSERVER TS140 INTEL XEON E3-1245 V3 / Speed: 3.40 GHZ / Memory Speed: 12800 / Memory Type: DDR3L / Size: 32GB Lenovo P320 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700K CPU @ 4.20GHz / Speed: 4.20GHz / Memory Speed: 2133 / Memory Type: DDR4 / Size: 8 GB THINKSTATION P300 INTEL XEON E3-1241 V3 / Speed: 3.50 GHz / Memory Speed: 1600 / Memory Type: DDR3 / Size: 4 GB These are each of the computers. Some of them do have GPU's but they are fairly old and don't have more than 1GB so they will all be replaced. I was thinking of not using any of the XEONs and only using the i7 and the i5 that are using ddr4. I am also aware that most if not all will need a new PSU to supply enough power for the GPU and everything else. I am trying to purely focus on if the case is good enough to try and building in and if the hardware that's currently in there is worth the work of building in the case and my other hardware. my GPU's I have on hand is nothing newer than just a basic 2gb 1050 (not the Ti) and older. I think I have mostly 970 and 960s on hand

Budget (including currency): RM 2K (500 USD) Country: Malaysia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: FL Studio, Photoshop, AE/Premier/Resolve and gaming Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I already have this build at least 3 years now and decided to upgrade it. I was originally wanted to go for R5 3600XT for the balanced workload of gaming and workstation setup (+ MORE CORES for basically the same price when I bought this CPU) but now I dun kno if it was necessary at all. Other program was running completely fine. If anything, I want at least have a bit more headroom for video editing programs coz they eat so much cpu utilization. I had other peripheral and important component, so those thing isn't my priority. Just the mobo and cpu from AMD.

So here i am, thinking my 7 year old RAM sticks is getting old, am i wrong? Currently my PC houses this ram; Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3000MHz 16GB 2x8GB (PC4-24000) CL15, XMP2.0 I am no pC genius, and thats why i ask. Just ordered a 5900x, and read some quick topics regarding u actually having a boost in performance on earlier zens when coupled with newer ram. Is this the case on 5900x too? according to those basic ram comparison sites i only get about 6-7% effective speed increase on newer sticks so i dunno. Love to get the most out of my system .

Good day, forum. (God I have no idea how to write these things) My brother intrigued me two days ago as he found an offer for a 700€ ROG STRYX 3070. Coincidentally, I considered upgrading from my Stryx GTX 1080 to a 3070. However he was like "Buh your CPU sucks, your PSU is sh*t, don't even bother wasting your money". Now I want to hear from the wise people. YOU. Below is information of what I do, and what parts my build has. The main quesiton here really is: Is this what you see below fit for a 3070, or should I upgrade more stuff? And if I were to just slot one of these boys in my PCI-E, are there any bottlenecks in my existing build? Thank you in advance, -RalphAlpha111 Budget (including currency): 1.000€ (flexible) Country: Austria Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: AAA games of 2020; incl. I have ordered the first set of parts. Case, board, RAM, and SSD. Just waiting for a 3080 to come in stock, and for the Zen 3 to launch, and become available. It's going to replace my Haswell system, with a Xeon, 32 GB of DDR3, and 980. My old system is going to get stripped down, the SSD's and 2TB decaying rust drives will get pulled, and I'm going to drop some 10TB drives in, for a redundant high capacity storage system. This machine originally had a 500GB boot drive and the 2TB in it, but I eventually upgraded to SSD's for boot and gaming drives. It originally had a Core i5 4440, but about a year ago, I bought a 3.6 ghz used Xeon, and that alone kept this system kicking until now. The final piece of the puzzle was the GPU. I had a 550TI that was held over from a previous machine, but when the fans on it died, I looked into getting a GTX 970. The memory controversy turned me off so much to the thought of the 970, the I saved up and got a 980 instead (this was previous to the 980TI launch). This 980 has been a champ, the only thing that has ever held it back was the power limit. I also had tried to get a 1080TI after they launched, but bitcoin miners wrecked the pricing, so I never did upgrade the GPU. I originally wanted to upgrade to an i9 9900k, with a 2080TI, but pricing... Was always awful. I almost pulled the trigger on Ryzen 1000 series, and even the 2000 series was super appealing, but I decided to go for the 3000 series. System was planned to be a Ryzen 9 3900x, 2080TI, 16GB of DDR4, and a 2TB SSD boot drive, but now it looks like 5900x, 3080, and a Gen4 SSD. It's kinda funny, this system is actually more expensive than the 3900x/2080TI, but not by much, and with better performance. I'm going Ryzen 9 over the 10/11 series of Intel for two reasons. The small one: I'm doing more rendering than I was before (this is why the Haswell system is no longer sufficient), and the really big reason... The LGA1200 has absolute garbage options for Micro ATX boards. I'll be building a second machine, probably with a 3900x, and a Radeon 5600, for storage. It'll probably get another set of 10TB drives, but it'll also get some 2TB SSD's for high speed data access to video files, to make rendering easier. The old haswell Xeon system will be a storage vault. I might also set it up to store cryptocurrency, using a detachable drive setup... But we'll see.

Hey guys I've just bought an i3-10100, ASRock H410M-HDV, and 16GB of Dual Channel DDR4 @2666Mhz My current system has an i5-4460, Gigabyte G1 MB, and 16GB of DDR3. How do I go about changing the components? Is it straight forward or would I need to do something else before changing them? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Budget (including currency): 0 dollars Country: Dominican Republic Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hi, is it worth sidegrading my 3d rendering pc to only gaming 1950x to 3700x for free? In 2018 i builded a 3d rendering worsktation for maya and 3ds max, with a Ryzen tr 1950x, 64gb of ram 2400mhz, and rtx2080. i use a 4k 60hz 75 inch tv without adaptive sinc. I am no longer using it for work and just gaming with it in my mancave. I play red dead redemption 2, horizon zero dawn, assassins creed odissey, and waiting to play ciberpunk. I like good visuals (high or ultra) 4k 60hz with 80% scaling to get constant 60hz with vsinc. Dont care about high refresh rate, i dont play competitive games. My 1% lows are very bad and i get constant stuttering, so i changed the ram to 32gb of ddr4 3200. And most of of the stuttering is gone. But i have the option of sidegrading from a 1950x to a 3700x without spending money, just selling my old mobo and cpu. And i want to know if it is worth it. just to get stable 60fps for the next great AAA games.

Budget (including currency): $540 USD (8.000.000 IDR) Country: Indonesia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly R6Siege, Valorant, (CP2077 maybe), Apex Legends, Star Citizen, and a little bit of video and photo editing. Other details: Here's my current spec: - i5-4460 with a Deepcool Alta - Gigabyte G1 Sniper B5 - 4x4GB DDR3 RAM 1600Mhz - Palit GTX 1060 3GB - Seasonic S12III 550w Bronze - M.2 SATA NVME 128GB (I used an adapter from PCIe for this lol) - SATA 3 Toshiba SSD 120GB - SATA 3 WD Blue 1TB - Cheap chinese case with ok airflow Generally when I'm playing games I have CPU Throttling, micro stutters and some games just don't like to run 100+FPS for me which I need to because I'm using a 144hz Monitor. Siege runs ok but it almost always dip to 60fps, Valorant just having an absurd amount of micro-stuttering, Apex is way worse with frames going as low as 50fps, and Star Citizen is... Star Citizen and runs at like 20fps... which is what I have to bear with right now lol I'm really aiming for at least 120+ FPS average on Competitive games like Siege, and Apex. For Star Citizen, hitting 60fps would be godspeed lol (although I doubt it since the game's optimization is trash and I'd be happy enough sitting at an average 30fps there.) My plans for the upgrades: - Ryzen 5 2600 (stock cooling probably) - AsRock B450M-HDV - INNO3D GTX 1660 Super 6GB - 2x8GB DDR4 Team T-Force Z Alpha 3200Mhz Totals up to IDR 7,600,000 or about $515 USD. I'm spending the last bit on a new keyboard probably. A friend recommended me a 3600 instead but without the graphics card and another one recommended an Asus Prime B450.. Really though I don't know anymore for now.. So any help towards the planned upgrade would be greatly appreciated! P.S: Online Classes start at the 29th so I'd be needing to buy the parts before that. Cheers!

Hello there! I would like some advice about an upgrade I'm going to do soon. I mainly use my PC for gaming. TL;DR - Any feedback on my current upgrade plans? I am upgrading from: i5-4590 GTX 970 2x4 GB RAM MSI H97 PC Mate To: Ryzen 5 3600 MSI RX 5700 MECH GP OC (possibly another brand) 2x8 GB RAM (Not sure which DIMMs yet tho) ASRock B450M Steel Legend Stuff I'll keep: 1 TB HDD 250 & 120 GB SSD's Hyper 212 EVO (Black) NZXT S340 Corsair CS550M PSU 2x Corsair AF120 fans + 2 stock case fans Asus VG248QE Monitor (1080p & 144Hz) Oculus Rift S I hope to play: Alyx, RDR2 & Cyberpunk 2077 (and some other games but I'm quite sure I can run them) More info & further questions I've been wanting to upgrade for a while now, but I held off. First because I wanted to focus on my studies, second because I hoped there would be some new stuff once my first year was done, and finally because of the whole COVID thing. Unfortunately there have been no new CPUs or GPUs released while I was patiently waiting to upgrade, but I'm done waiting and have decided to upgrade nonetheless. I know it's not the best time and I will not have ray-tracing and DLSS, but I can live with that. So I put together the above mentioned parts to upgrade my PC. I do still have a bunch of questions though. I should mention that I live in The Netherlands, so prices are probably very different from other parts of the world. I will leave some links below where you can see the price in my area for parts, if you want to recommend different ones. The questions: GPU I picked the MSI MECH GP OC because it's one of the cheapest RX 5700's in my area, and it's also black-white (I know...) I'm hoping to be able to flash the XT bios to it, but I find it hard to predict how the temps and noise will be impacted. Other cheap cards in my area are the ASRock Challenger and the ASUS Dual EVO. Of course I'm willing to sacrifice my coherent colour scheme if any of these cards is better, so should I? Mobo For the motherboard I chose mATX B450 because I don't really need the extra features of other chipsets and ATX, and it's just cheaper. I did want a decent one though, so at first I settled on the ASRock B450M Pro4. Then I noticed that for only €10 more I could get the Steel Legend. Now I don't really care about the RGB (especially since I heard the software is rubbish), but overall it seemed like a better board and worth the extra money. Also, it has 5x4 pins fan headers, instead of 3 for the Pro4. Now I'm not sure if that even matters, as I still have 2 stock fans which are 3 pins. But I might switch those fans out in the future anyway. So my questions here is: is it worth the extra money? RAM I decided on 2x8 GB 3200 MT/s CL16 RAM, as that's a pretty good speed with Ryzen (I think) for a very affordable price. However, none of the modules with those specs that are affordable in my area are on the QVL's of the Mobo's I mentioned here above. I know that doesn't mean they won't work at all, but should I take the risk? My choice is one of the following: HyperX (HX432C16FB3K2/16) These are the cheapest and I think they look pretty cool, so these have my preference. Corsair (CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 or CMK16GX4M2D3200C16) Reviews say these don't always play nice on B450 G.Skill (F4-3200C16D-16GVGB or F4-3200C16D-16GVKB) Any other feedback is always appreciated of course Part Prices - My budget for this upgrade is around €700 RAM GPU Mobo Other (Price comparison site) And then there's the CPU of course, but I'm pretty much definite that I want the R5 3600. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

1. Budget & Location Preferably below $300 USD, but I am willing to spend some $400ish if it'll make that big of a difference. United States 2. Aim My system is used for a mix of fun/professional stuff. Games (including AAA stuff like RDR2), photo/video editing and general graphic design work. I'm not too concerned about my performance with the work stuff. More games 3. Monitors I've got two monitors, and don't plan on changing this. I recently upgraded to a 1440 144hz IPS as an impulse purchase which made me want to upgrade to keep up with the higher res haha. 4. Peripherals All good on these. 5. Why are you upgrading? I'm upgrading so that I can get better performance on my new monitor I recently upgraded to, and also to help quell the urge to upgrade to a whole new system Other details My CPU is not currently overclocked, and neither is my GPU, but I will be doing this shortly once I do some research and feel confident. I've done this in the past, but it's been years. I assume this will get some better performance, but I figure not a ton? Although you guys might know how much more I can squeeze out with what I have. My OS is on the WD 1TB SSD I'm looking to add some final upgrades to my system that I originally built in 2012. It's become a bit of a Frankenstein's monster/ship of Theseus over the years and I really want to start a new build from scratch, but won't really be able to do it until like mid 2021 due to finances (I'm planning on going for an expensive/powerful rig). However, I can afford maybe like 300-475ish in upgrades right now. I'm 100% fine with getting used parts. I'm into PC hardware and tech enough to make fairly informed purchases, but don't feel like I'm knowledgeable enough to identify bottlenecks in my system or to know quite what the best thing to upgrade is. I figure either my CPU or GPU are what I should upgrade, but aren't sure which would give me better performance gains in AAA games like RDR2 (although I do occasionally play CPU intensive strategy games). Typically I'd figure a good used GPU is the way to go, but wanted to check if my CPU would be a bottleneck on that since it's a bit old now. Thoughts on what I should upgrade/suggestions for specific hardware would be much appreciated! Hi there I'm an 18-year-old student, I'm studying industrial sciences. So draw often with CAD programs. I also like to play a game sometime. I have a laptop (Acer Aspire 5 515-51G), this laptop has 256gm SSD storage. I would upgrade it with an SSD of 500GB. In my laptop there is space left for a hard disk (2.5"). I do miss a cable to connect to my motherboard. Would it be possible to make a video of this? Or to reply with a mail? I also wondered if it would be possible to upgrade my graphics card on my laptop. I now have an NVIDEA MX150. Hopefully everything will go well with your family in these terrible times. Greetings Jakob Ingels

Hello, Im looking to upgrade my venerable LGA 1155 system to one of these fancy new B450/Ryzen setups Ive been hearing so much about, but Im wondering which of my old components will be compatable with the new motherboard and processor. Ive got a budget of £200 for the upgrades but am not familiar with AMD products at all so some help choosing upgrade options would be extremely welcomed. I do some gaming (MB II: Bannerlord ftw), but primarily Im focused on 3D modelling and sculpting very high poly models, of which my current setup seems to be proper struggling with. Hello everyone So I have my gaming computer for 6 years by now and, after watching a lot of Linus' videos and learning a lot about the wonderful world of PCs, I started to think about upgrading. I live in Brazil and that makes things a little complicated, since every tech related stuff is quite expensive, but I'll be glad with every awnser. So let me get started. Budget (including currency): Don't have one yet, but was thinking somewhere about R$4000, which is around US$700 (Yeah, the economy here is... well... complicated... someone help D:) but gladly spend US$1000 if really, really necessary. Country: Brazil Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly gaming, want to run those sweet games at 120 fps, like "Satisfactory", "Cities Skylines" with a lot of mods, etc. I don't do a lot (almost none) of graphical work, but play with Photoshop and Illustrator from time to time. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): My current specs are: CPU: core i5-4400 3.2 GHz Motherboard: Asus H81M-C/BR RAM: 8 GB Corsair vengeance DDR3 (1 stick) GPU: EVGA Geforce GTX 750 ti Power supply: EVGA 500w 80 plus Storage: 1 120 GB Kingston SSD 1 1TB WD Blue HDD and 1 1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD OS: Windows 10 My display is an LG 22MP55, 1920x1080, 21.5" and don't plan on upgrading it (4K and high refresh rate displays are even more expensive :') ). However, I do want to upgrade my keyboard to a mechanical one (this on is just a basic membrane one, from multilaser). My main question is: is it worth upgrading mu CPU? or shoud I just upgrade my GPU and RAM? I've been thinking about one GTX 1660, but have no ideia for the RAM. I've known Intel for quite some time, but after seeing AMD with their Ryzen 5 (and more recent the Ryzen 3 3600), I was kinda tempted to go team red.. yet it would cost quite a lot an my i5 should be able to handle things for now.. I think? Hahaha. Oh, and with a GPU upgrade (and probably GPU) my power supply would also need an upgrade, right? (I know this question is quite stupid, but I don't know my current watt usage). I would also keep my HDDs and SSD. Also no specific case in mind. I expect to make the upgrade by the holidays (I've spent some money in games and other things during this quarantine, so I'll wait a bit more for the upgrade to come true haha). Well, I think that's all, thanks in advance for your time and help! Stay home, stay safe! Castle
