I recently got a new monitor, the qd-oled Philips Evnia 34M2C8600, and I was considering upgrading my set up. A few years ago I used to get 150+ fps on most modern games in 1440p on ultra settings, but these days my setup struggles to maintain 60+ fps even in cyberpunk on the highest settings, I find that I need to turn some settings down to get a great experience. I assume running those same games in HDR, or getting higher fps in modern games is going to get even more difficult over time, and was wondering how I could upgrade my set up to enable that. I know a guy who works at Nvidia, and he's mentioned he could probably get me a discount on a new GPU but I'm afraid my cpu will become the bottleneck in that case. Even if I do go for that route, maybe I should wait for the 5000 series? any advice? Budget (including currency): around 1000USD, 3500 nis Country: israel Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: modern gaming, anything from GOW, to Dota 2, to cod, to apex, to cyberpunk, Baldur's gate 3, etc. My current build includes: CPU - Intel I9-9700k GPU - GeForce RTX2080ti GAMING OC RAM - 4x 8GB Corsair vengeance DDR4 memory, 3200 mhz PSU - Corsair RMx Series RM650x 650w Storage - 2TB HD + 256 nvme ssd, + 500 GB nvme ssd Case - Fractal Design Define C

Budget (including currency):maybe 1-2k USD Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I play 1080p games with an Nvidia G-Sync monitor (240hz refresh rate) and have a 2nd 60hz monitor for other things, video streaming like watching things. I'm not a streamer. Also Discord/socializing and I also mess around with music production. The music production is more of a hobby and not critical. Its just fun to do Other details CPU Ryzen 7 3700X Cooled with an AIO Mobo MSI x470 Gaming Pro Carbon (PCI-E 4.0) Graphics EVGA NVIDIA GTX 1070 FTW ACX 3.0 32GB DDR4 Corsair Max bandwidth DDR4-2132 (1066 MHz) Memory module Part number CMW32GX4M4D3600C18 PSU is a Corsair HX850 So I've been getting an itchy finger to upgrade some PC stuff. I picked up a 2TB NVME Samsung drive for 79 bucks so I'm going to have to go in to install it and I will repaste my CPU. I've really been considering getting an rtx 4070 ti also. I was also taking a look at what was available for the AM4 socket. I hear good things about the Ryzen 5800X3D for gaming but its about $324 currently. I could get the 5800x without the extra cache for a bit over 200 but they are still pulling more wattage (105 watts vs my 65W CPU currently) So I ask the council. Is it worth it to throw money at an older platform, or should I possibly just go with a new motherboard? I would have to buy new memory also so that is a factor, but I would now have access to the AM5 platform. I would like to hear different opinions since I might not realize something that you guys would bring to my attention. Thank you in advance.

Hi Everyone, I'm looking for what I should upgrade in my current PC. I mostly use it for Gaming, networking, internet browsing, streaming. I don't have much of a budget and built this PC pre-Covid as a home workstation and Gaming replacement for console gaming (PS4 and Switch) I'm wondering if I need to start with a better powersupply before I look at graphics card. I would like to get to 1440p with a decent FPS if possible. Also am I bottlenecking anything? This is my first post, so I'm not sure yet how I'll see your responses. But Thank you for taking some time to consider helping me. I have an old Gateway DX4870 computer that I'm trying to upgrade to make a low budget gaming computer. Like nothing intense. Heck, the main game wanting to be ran is Gold Rush on it. It has a Intel i3-2130 which I'm pretty much fine with, unless a cheap alternative is better in some form of an i5 processor that works with the motherboard. Then I would need a dedicated gpu. I was thinking something along the lines of a 1050, 1060, 1070, etc. But I've always struggled trying to understand compatibility. Would it even work?? And I think the biggest thing I'll have to do is get a new psu since this one is rated for 300w and I don't think that would be enough, right??? Like the 1080 is an average 200TDP, and that alone they say like you should allocate like 50% additional wattage, so right there is 300w in the GPU alone. Basically I'm just trying to maximize potential here with what I already have?

Budget: $500-$1,200 USD Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Lot's of everything Other details: (All PC's Specs. are in the photos) I'm looking for a much smoother experience when gaming, using spreadsheets, or just loading the YouTube home page. Things tend to run slow, it takes 4 mins just to boot up. I have little to no programs running at start. (I have the best internet for my location). I know I need a ssd and maybe some more Ram but honestly I'm noobish. Should I build a new pc from scratch or keep what I have and just upgrade it?

Hey guys stuck in a pickle. I live in the US so been dealing with the tariffs, and I want your guys opinion on wether or not buy a 3060 at a price of $899 USD before my state tax. I’m a huge Halo fan and after seeing some peoples results with older graphics cards and with the LTT video yesterday I don’t know how my 1070 from PNY would handle the game. Hang help would be appreciated.

So, I have a Razer Lancehead TE (104g) and it has a wire so I have been annoyed with cable drag and lack of portability. I was looking at the gpro when I saw a lot of reviews saying to get the superlight over the gpro. I use claw grip, lower sens than a lot of people (400dpi and 1.65 in csgo, main game I play), and move my arm a lot while gaming. Is it worth picking it up?

Hi everyone! I am new to the forums so I hope I am posting this in the right place to begin with, but basically due to the CPU and GPU exorbitant prices and lack of stock, I saw my self in the only option and need to buy a pre-built PC from MSI; for some additional context I am from Mexico and some friends in the US snatched it for me at a decent price as a surprise because in my country is almost impossible to get a decent built for an affordable price. I am stoked and excited but I want to ground my self and be as objective as a can for my path forward, right below is the specs given by the webpage as to what the PC has and I was hoping you guys could help me to select or plan what is missing from it as in cooling, extra storage, different types of mounts or whatever it may be, and to plan a upgrade path into the future. I have a basic knowledge of computers but I have never really built one and this is the closest thing I will get for a time (damn the world, the economy and third world problems.) I should mention that I am not sure of the type of motherboard or ram that it has for it misses to point out the specific models so if anyone knows for sure that might help. Also, I know is nor high end PC, I know I could have bought something better if I had built it my self but understand that is not as simple for me due to monetary and geographical issues and there is no need to get into detail or be told that the PC sucks, first ever gaming PC of my own don't want to come crashing down... please... I appreciate the assistance that you may provide from the bottom of my heart and thank you all upfront! https://us-store.msi.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=20_259_272&product_id=704

Hi, I need help regarding the ram upgrade, I am so confused about the maximum ram capacity of a G41 Chipset. Some people says that their computer same as mine can use 8GB of Ram DDR3 although on the Lenovo website it says 4GB DDR3 max. By the way I already changed my CPU to Intel Q6600 Core 2 Quad from Intel Core 2 duo E8400. The specs will be attached on this post. I am just a simple computer user with little knowledge on some aspects of computer parts and upgrades. If it's possible to upgrade to 8GB what are the compatible ram based on the specs? Please help. Thank you!

Budget (USD) / Constraint(s) : $200 / (needs to fit mATX case) Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: All games of varying workloads (ranging from Assassins creed, Civ, Hearts of Iron, Halo, RL, HLL, Squad, Minecraft, etc.), general overclocking, a bit of crypto mining here and there. Other details - Mobo: B450 AORUS M, CPU: R9 3900x w Corsair H100i rad for cooling, GPU: RTX 3070, 500gb M.2, 500gb HDD, 750w PSU, Main monitor: Gigabyte curved monitor (1440p, 165hz), Internet: ethernet. Background: The history of my build started in early 2020. I had a $500 budget and I had planned to upgrade the system slowly over time. I didn't care for top of the line performance at first. I had an APU (Ryzen 3200g), no gpu, simple 75hz monitor. Quickly found a RX 580 gpu cheap (pre shortage) 3 months after the build. THEN things changed when a kind redditor set me a R9 3900x. This changed how I viewed my machine and I couldn't help but feel like I was knee capping it with what I was using. Fast forward to my current parts and something still eats at me... is my mobo holding me back? Here's what I know: there are "better" motherboards out there, but how can I tell if it's worth the money? What metrics would indicate/justify an upgrade? How can I test for myself if my motherboard is holding me back? What details (bc marketing muddies the water so much) should I look to improve if I did shop around? What details don't matter? Are there any questions I should be asking that I'm missing? Thanks in advance for any and all responses!

Budget (including currency): $1000, $1300, $2000 - Php 40,000 - 60,000 Country: Philippines Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, RPCS3, DaVinci Resolve, Blender, CS:GO, Valorant, R6, Minecraft Other details: CPU: Core i7 4790 @3.6 GHz [NON-K] GPU: MSI N750 Ti [DVI - D, VGA, HDMI] Motherboard: MSI H81M-P33 V2 HDD: - Seagate 1TB HDD @ 7200 RPM - WD 1TB HDD @7200 RPM RAM: Kingston 8GB DDR3 RAM Case: Thermaltake Versa H16 Case PSU: Thermaltake 600 watt Bronze Power Supply Monitor: Prolink 1913WE - D [DVI -D Port], 1366 x 768 Cooler: Stock Intel Cooler Hi Guys! My 5 year old PC decided to off itself this morning and I'm looking for an upgrade. I honestly think the PSU's the problem but I don't know if it's better to make a new PC or if I should fix it and upgrade a few parts. For a bit of context, I am currently student interning as a video editor for a media company and I'm in charge of creating and animating illustrations and text, and doing some light special effects. Because of this, I frequently use After Effects and Photoshop, and sometimes Premiere Pro. I also plan on learning Blender and AutoCAD and Fusion 360. Additionally, using Nvidia's custom resolution tool, I run my editing software at 1080p and play video games at native resolution (1366 x768). I also use RPCS3 (PS3 Emulator) quite frequently (this isn't as important as video editing, but bonus points if you take this into account). IMPORTANT: The footage I'm editing is 1080p RAW -- S Log and C Log. Additional info: if I upgrade my PC, my current mobo will only be able to support 16 GB of DDR3 RAM @ 1.6 MHz and run my CPU at 3.6 GHz. If I ever do decide to just upgrade, I'm thinking of replacing the GPU (to probably a 2070?) and adding RAM and a new cooler. I'm open to both AMD and Intel platforms, but I generally prefer Nvidia for my GPU, but if you think Radeon's better for my use case then by all means!

Hi, i need some help. I have a computer / server mounted with a Supermicro "X7DBN" motherboard and a Gforce GT610 graphics card. The computer works fine, but the graphics card is a bit mediocre, I don't know if I could buy a better graphics card or it would bring me problems. I don't have much budget to buy myself a better computer, so I would like to know if I can upgrade this a bit. I have not found much information online so I ask, thank you very much.

Hi there to be short, I currently on a double monitor setup, and the computer processes good my needs at 1080p (playing only on 1 monitor). The only thing that bothering me is playing new games at 30/40 FPS at Low/Med res and other like Overwatch at 100 to 150. In case of Overwatch if I'm doing something in the background then I'm like 40, then 110, then 60 fps etc. So I wanted to get rid of this issue primarily but I don't know if a "newer" CPU/GPU could help me fix this. I know that the rig is pretty much dead with the CPU so I was wondering if you would rather upgrade something for little amounts or wait to save up enough to get everything new. (I'm trying to save enough but bad times are not collaborating) My current rig has Intel Core i5 4590 Gigabyte H97-D3H-CF MSI GeForce GTX 970

So with next gen approaching, I have the dilemma of, do I upgrade my 1060 in order to run all the new next gen games that are going to be coming out or just get them on console. Since most games like cyberpunk are right around the corner when preordering I'm at a loss of what I want to play it on. I can just play it on my Xbox one x or upgrade my pc if I even need to. I have recently gotten a 27" 1440p 144hz monitor and would like to get the most out of it. I have also just upgraded my cpu to a 9th gen i7 and my ram is at 16 gig although its a little old its pretty fast. So if i were upgrade my GPU what should I upgrade to? Would like to keep running games in high and ultra settings but am also somewhat on a budget. Help please.

Budget (including currency): USD Country: United States of America (USA( Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: gaming and emulation Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Couldn’t really find an appropriate section for this question. Would like to make a suggestion of adding steam deck gaming and build advice section on the form. well, I had an interesting question. I mostly play American truck simulator & Final Fantasy on my steam deck. But some of those Final Fantasy games are huge and by the time you mod American truck simulator can get pretty big too. I want to upgrade the storage on my device. Do plan to put some 1 TB microSD cards. But I’m trying to decide whether getting the micron 2 TB internal SSD, or possibly getting one of those JSAUX docs that hold the NMVE drive options. Basically trying to figure out if I should go with an internal 2 TB SSD which might be questionable about installing. Have done a lot of work on tight tolerances device, including an early 2011 MacBook Pro with memory and Drive upgrades in the past. and have tools that are micro precision for that. Not as good as Linus & his tools or the iFixIt sadly. But not bad either. So my question is since I’m wanting to build up a driving simulator in docking mode and running like a 49 inch Ultra Wide monitor on a wheel stand with monitor mount. Would I be better off going with some thing like the JSAUX Dock that has the NMVE Drive support and putting like an 8 TB Sabrent Rocket Q SSD, or would I be better off doing a 2 TB internal with a dock that supports display port and micro SD’s??? Really appreciate the assistance in this question. And want to thank everyone in advance for any help offered.

I have been contemplating trying to game on 4k (1080p current) and was thinking about switching to a 3080ti (Current specs below). Is it worth the upgrade? I want to get an OLED Panel as well but that might be a different post (if you can answer here that would save me time but not necessary). Also, I know my current build with a 3080ti would take a performance hit at 1080p Also know the PSU needs an upgrade with Current PC: R5 3600 RTX 2060 16GB 3200mhz B450 Tomahawk max 650W PSU

Country: Switzerland Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 1080p gaming, office work, simple CAD My situation: I could get an old PC for free. It consists of the following parts: Motherboard: Asus P8H67-M EVO CPU: Core i5-2400 GPU: Nvidia GT 430, 1 GB RAM: 4x 2GB Kingston ValueRAM (DDR3-1333) PSU: 420W (branded from a local retailer) HD: Samsung HD103SJ, 1 TB Cooling: Intel stock cooler, 2x 120 mm fan (Front Intake and back exhaust), I also "hacked" in an 80 mm fan onto the side panel which is blowing air onto the GPU. Optical: Lite-On iHAS124-19 (DVD-RW) I want to ask if I could keep the motherboard, RAM and case, but upgrade the GPU, CPU, HD and PSU if needed. To replace the HD, I've got a SATA 2.5" SSD. CPU-wise, I could get an i7-3770 for about 45 CHF (47 USD). For a GPU, I dont quite know what is sufficient and still at a reasonable price. Ideally, the card doesn't cost more than about 150 CHF (156 USD), but I don't know if that is even possible. Is it even worth upgrading such an old motherboard? Thank you all for your answers!
