I've had my pc for a couple of years and have done some upgrades here and there but now I wanna do a major upgrade, can't decide what would benefit me the most, I have a Ryzen 7 2700X and a GTX 1080 Ti and I mainly use it for heavy video editing (premiere pro and after effects mainly) and gaming (games like Assassin's Creed, CS:2 and Valorant). Having this in mind should I go for a cpu and motherboard upgrade or a gpu upgrade, considering that I'll only upgrade the other way later into next year or the one after, what would be the best upgrade path to take now?

I have been doing some research and was wondering what is the best part for both CPU and GPU for this setup. I was wondering if I could put a low profile GTX 1070 or RX 580 as a GPU, I wasn't too sure if 4 cores 4 threads for my current CPU would be a bottle neck or would need an upgrade here. Ideallly I'm just looking to upgrade only CPU, GPU, and Memory. I do not want to move my components to a new case or motherboard or PSU.

When purchasing my system, I had always believed that I should be able to stream and play valorant at over 200 fps consistently, but with this configuration, for some reason valorant tops out around 180 fps, with WILD framerate dipping down to 90 fps. Yes, 90 fps is still high, but it's the inconsistency that makes it difficult to play. Essentially, I want a CPU in which I can play games and stream without having to worry about fps drops, including Valorant. I have completely stopped streaming due to how hard it is to play with OBS open due to the inconsistent FPS. I am worried that if I buy any other CPU, the same thing will happen, and streaming will be a problem. Things I have looked at: Upgrading to a 7800x3D, 7700x, 7900x, or 7950x3D. I understand that upgrading from a 3800x to any of these CPUs will require a full motherboard, ram, (and possibly cooler) swap. I fear while the 7800x3D will be good in games, that it might suffer when streaming. That being said, I feel as though the other CPUs are "worse" and that I will run into the same problem I am running into my 3800x where despite being overclocked to 4.4Ghz, I will still get the inconsistent/low FPS. I am really leaning toward the 7900x with the specified motherboard/ram/cooler combo as listed above, should I not go this route? Is the cooler enough for the CPU? I do not want to do watercooling again, even if it is an AIO, but I will if it requires. Is the ram the correct for the CPU? I heard Ryzen likes specific ram, so when researching I read that the specific ram listed above is the best for these ryzen CPUs. Why is this the case? With avatar and the finals I have noticed my cpu and RAM being maxed out at 100% usage and the GPU being around 15 or 16 % according to task manager. So I will be avoiding a GPU upgrade for now. Unless there is an absolute need for it. I will also be doing a clean install of windows with this upgrade, I have the same windows install on my pc from middle school, I am now an engineer at Boeing, This might also be contributing to my CPU usage. I currently own an Asus Zephyrus GA502DU (Ryzen 3750H, GTX 1660ti 6GB Max-Q, 16 GB DDR4, 512+512 nvme SSD) and an I5 2nd gen PC as a NAS with a couple of drives. My daily use laptop is a M1 Macbook Air (8/256). I am trying to get more into gaming in my free time, I have mostly only played Forza/WRC/F1 and GTA V/RDR2. I have a budget of about INR 50K (USD 600) plus about 30-35K that I can MAYBE get by selling my laptop. The laptop serves me well for all that I need to do for work, it is actually more than enough and runs games like RDR2 at decent settings at 1080p (not playing to upgrade the display anytime soon). I am torn between two options, get something like a PS5 or Xbox Series X and keep my current stuff or hopefully sell this at a decent price and get a whole new PC. I just want to highlight that selling a gaming laptop, especially in my town is EXTREMELY difficult, and getting a decent price is gonna be a challenge and might even take months. I really love the fact that the laptop basically has a built-in UPS in case of power cuts which are not infrequent. For about INR 80K, I'll be able to get Ryzen 5 (maybe Ryzen 7), RX6750XT

Hello my fellas, whats up? I'm going to need to upgrade my setup soon because my wifes pc is dying, so we agree to pass mines to her and i build a new one. That being said: My budget allows me to go with a 12th gen and a DDR4 mobo, but i need the chipset to be overclockable. I believe its the Z590/Z690 chipsets, but i need tips in building that pc. My GPU is ROG 3060 12gb and my PSU is a Corsair 850w Gold. Hi I just got a new ryzen 5800x3d, so i updated my bios to the latest version and switched to the new CPU with no luck the PC doesnt post and the red CPU indicator is on, i tried re-seating the CPU without success, after switching back to my old 2600x everything booted fine. But when looking at the recommended PSUs I see that for the RX 6800Xt AMD recommends a 750 watt PSU and for the 7800XT a 700 watt PSU. Also when looking on microcenter for two models that caught my eye the recommended PSU is higher by 50 watt. But when I look at PC partpicker the estimated wattage with the 6800XT is ~560watt and with the 7800XT ~520 watt with my current build. I am trying not to upgrade my PSU for this GPU upgrade because if I upgrade my PSU I would have to upgrade my UPS as well. I would like to max out my performance while not stressing out my PSU too much so my PC can last a while longer. Ive ran into problem with Open AI whisper Large model which uses up to 10GB of VRAM space, my first thought was a direct upgrade from 2070 to 4070, however seeing how prices plummeted for 2070 on after market, ive started thinking that mbe senior models might be more valuable when il be making my next upgrade. I built my system in 2017-18 sort of time, so after catching up with all the new generations of products, it got confusing quickly. My main question is - should I upgrade to AM5 now? then upgrade GPU - this will of course need new CPU and ram and GPU Or should I stick with the same CPU/Ram and upgrade GPU only. I notice the new GPUs have PCIe gen 4 now and I'm getting hung up on the limiting bandwidth if i stick that on a PCIe 3 gen slot (my current board) - would that make a huge difference for FPS performance? I am also aware the CPU being slightly older and so the new high VRAM GPUs and new chips may out-perform the CPU and bottleneck? again not sure if this will be a real world issue for me. I'm wanting to be able to play most new titles with at least High settings, (Elden Ring, Harry Potter, God of War 2, Formula 1 etc) and I may upgrade to a 1440p monitor with a higher refresh rate in the next year or two as well. Hey tech enthusiasts! I'm an 18-year-old student on a limited budget looking to upgrade my Ryzen 5 1600 to the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. My focus is on single-threaded, CPU-bound games like RimWorld and Cities: Skylines. I don't do any productivity work. I play at 1080p 144hz. However, diving into the 5800X3D would tap into my savings, and I'm juggling the idea of building both a robust CPU and an investment portfolio. I'm based in South Africa. Key Problems : 1. Should I rather invest the money (90% of my savings) into the stock market, assuming that I will make a profit or buy the cpu and have some fun whilst draining my savings? I recently started my investing portfolio and in the greens. I am really thrilled about expanding the amount invested but I am also a gamer and pc enthusiast and I would love this ryzen upgrade. I feel guilty about overspending and 'wasting' the money. I am trying to build good habits at an early age. 2. Awful FPS and heavy bottlenecks. I play Black ops 3 splitscreen with a friend and my average fps is in the 50s and the game stutters at times, furthermore when i play bo3 my rtx 3070 ranges from 30 to 50% utilization. Since i play a lot of single threaded cpu bound games, such as modded rimworld, i am aware that 5800x3d would significantly improve my mediocre 30-40 ish frames in my games. During late game, my games tend to tug a ton on my cpu, bringing me down to low 20s and even 1 fps at times. Once again, gpu is idling. 3. Inadequate Power supply. I have a 600 watt, 80 plus standard psu. I am not sure whether this psu will cope with an rtx 3070 and 5800x3d combo. It's just another cost if I do indeed need to upgrade my psu. Another cost that makes me doubt whether its worth it to spend more just to get 5800x3d. I am completely fine with a loud psu fan though. Why the huge jump from r5 1600 to r7 5800x3d? I finally found a good deal for 5800x3d after months of searching. Prices in my country are not favorable. I am aware how powerful this chip is on the am4 platform and its ability to destroy cpu bound games. I don't want to settle for a mediocre cpu either this is why i also dont want to the upgrade 5600x:). Why not consider Am5 chips? I may as well sell a kidney to afford am5 in my country. I have been using the 2080 Ti for about 5 years now, and recently, it has begun showing signs of dying. Tested the PSU, CPU, Memory etc. Whenever I run an intensive task, the GPU causes a crash and the screens go black, I hear audio still for a short while, and the CPU fans kick in at high speed. Memory dump says it has something to do with Nvidia as well. I am not sure what to do to fix it, and I was considering upgrading it to a 4070, given the circumstances, getting a 4090 (Although very tempting, is a bit too pricey in Finland. ~2100 € to start.). I was wondering if it is worth it to get a 4070, or somehow bite the bullet for a 4090 or if there are other options. My main goals with the GPU usually are related to learning to use Blender, games, and a bit of AI based tasks such as training datasets etc. Thank you kindly for any help provided, incase you need more information, I would be happy to provide. Hello, I am running a windows PC and my motherboard has two m.2 slots, one being my main drive(C:) and the other being storage(E:) . I want to replace my main drive with a larger capacity m.2 but I don't know to how to do it. I thought maybe I can remove my second m.2, then do something to copy everything from the main drive to the new m.2 and then remove the old main drive, install the new m.2 in the slot of the old main drive and install the old 2nd m.2 storage back in. (Diagram below of what I want to do) Is this what I should do? Also anyone know how to transfer data from my old main drive to a new m.2 without creating errors?

Noob question I know, but I'm trying to save $200+ CAD. If I transfer my win 10 retail key to a new system, will I still be able to use my free update to win 11? I'm doing a massive upgrade... Moving from a i7-4790k and gtx 1070 to an i5-13600k and rtx 4070 (+ many other bells and whistles). I have been eligible on my current system for a win 11 upgrade for awhile but this (current) system doesn't even support it. (Maximus v2 hero mobo and cpu). I do want to run win 11 on my new build (hopefully building this week, waiting for newegg). Will my key also transfer over my free windows download? Cheers

Here are my specs: Core i5-11400f (cpu) AMD RX 6500XT 4gb (gpu) T-Force TUF 16gb 2x8gb 3200 DDR4 (ram) Gigabyte B560m DS3H AC (motherboard) I asked reddit why I wasn't getting great fps when it should be a good GPU and was told that the 6500XT is bad so I should upgrade which I was already thinking of. What GPU should I upgrade to that would work with my CPU better for more fps and better performance that's for a good price (AMD preferably nothing 400 or more)

I would like to upgrade my laptop ( hp 440 g6 Intel Pentium 5405U) for the fun of it, but i don't really know what to upgrade. I know there are some screens for the same model with higher resolution, but would those work with mine? Hello there, I'm new to this forum (long time LTT watcher tho). So hopefully I'm doing this like it is supposed to be used. I'm (sadly) a laptop gamer (3070 mobile + AMD Ryzen 7 6800H, Lenovo). Playing mainly a lot of FPS & story games. My other periphal is a SteelSeries Nova Pro headset. My hands are slightly bigger then average I believe. I'm a fan of the razer deathadder. But after being a bit too rough with it a couple of times (yes, gamer rage) it now randomly disconnects for like half a second every now and then. Quite annoying when you are just in a battle. So I wish to treat myself to a new mouse (hopefully a solid upgrade). After looking into it myself my current options would be: Razer Deathadder V3 Just an straight upgrade to my old V2. Sadly no RGB, that's the only downgrade Razer viper mini Signature Edition Most premium option. Slight worry that it's smaller then I'm used to. Also most expensive one and kinda hard to get Logitech G pro X superlight 2 Bigger & more affordable option to the viper mini SE. Never used logitech products before. Some of my friends aren't big fans of Logitech. They say all of their products have downsides (worse sensors, fragile, bad scrolling wheel.) Not sure if they are correct. But it makes less likely to choose them. Other Razer mouse I did enjoy my razer mouse and my friends also have good experiences with them. A couple of options would be: Basilisk V3 (pro), Viper ultimate & viper 8k or the wireless deathadders. SteelSeries mouse Have no experience with their mice. But I've heard there aerox mice are pretty nice. Which one would be the best one to get? Thanks in advance ~Spartan

So I’m planning an upgrade and i have about 800 bucks to spend. I recently got an 1440p monitor and in some games my current setup struggles. I mostly play Warthunder, Factorio, Star Wars Battlefront 2. I’m not sure what route to take. Should i dump it all in a 7900XT or should I split it up and go with an 14600k and a more modest 7800XT? The problems experienced are very slow loads and also major lags while using the programs - essentially making them unusable. My idea would have been to definitely upgrade the CPU and the RAM to something like the Ryzen 7 5700 (X) and 32GB of at least 3200 MT/s RAM. IIRC, GPU isn't the biggest deciding factor when using the mentioned programs, am I correct? Would be interesting to hear other suggestions from people that also work with the programs

I've gotten a pc recently, and as far as I can tell, it's decent with games. However, I did notice that the cpu is bringing the performance down quite a bit. I've been trying to look for what I should get as an upgrade for it without spending too much money. Currently I have an Intel i5-6500. The motherboard is an Asus H170 PRO GAMING, so the socket is an LGA1151. If, money-wise, it's better to upgrade the motherboard too, I'd be fine hearing about that too, but I'd rather only upgrade the cpu for now. The GPU it has is good enough for me for now, it's an Nvidia GeForce 1050ti. And as for a budget, I don't exactly have one, but I would be fine with seeing multiple options. I'm from the Netherlands, so if it's possible I'd prefer prices in €, as well as not having high shipping costs.
