Hi, I want to upgrade the ram on my build but I don't know if it is worth it. Will I get more FPS/Better stability/Better 1%s if I do it? The build: Ryzen 5 3600 CPU Asus TUF Gaming B450 PLUS II Motherboard. RTX 3080 GPU (just in case) 20Gb of DDR4 RAM running at 2400Mhz The Ram I currently have installed, is a mix of old ram that I salvaged from another PC (1x4Gb 1x8Gb) and one that I bought a year ago (1x8Gb). One stick (8Gb) is limited at 2400Mhz, while the other two (8Gb+4Gb) can go up to 2666Mhz. Games that I play: GTA V/Online Fortnite Cities Skylines II Euro Truck Sim 2 Emulation (NSW, Wii, WiiU) I'm thinking of upgrading it to a Lexar 32Gb (2x16Gb) kit running at 3600Mhz with CL18 latency, that I found on amazon. (like replacing all the old sticks with these two) Thanks in advance.

I've gotten a pc recently, and as far as I can tell, it's decent with games. However, I did notice that the cpu is bringing the performance down quite a bit. I've been trying to look for what I should get as an upgrade for it without spending too much money. Currently I have an Intel i5-6500. The motherboard is an Asus H170 PRO GAMING, so the socket is an LGA1151. If, money-wise, it's better to upgrade the motherboard too, I'd be fine hearing about that too, but I'd rather only upgrade the cpu for now. The GPU it has is good enough for me for now, it's an Nvidia GeForce 1050ti. And as for a budget, I don't exactly have one, but I would be fine with seeing multiple options. I'm from the Netherlands, so if it's possible I'd prefer prices in €, as well as not having high shipping costs.

Budget (including currency): 800 euros Country: Slovenia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Star Citizen, War thunder, rainbow six siege, escape from tarkov, pavlov and other vr titles. Other details As the title says im not sure between those 2 gpus. Currently im running a ryzen 7 5800X3D, b550 plus mboard, 3070 and a 850W plus gold psu. One of my friends recently decided to build a pc and I offered my 3070. This gpu did me good and i loved it but i want to upgrade so i can future proof my pc. In my country gpu prices aren’t the best so im buying used from a reputable seller that ‘refurbishes‘ them. So i found a 3080ti with 3 fans and a 4070 with 2(i prefer 3 fans for the noise). But for the live of me I can’t decide, should i go for the power hungry but better performing 3080ti or the more efficient and capable 4070 with DLSS 3 and frame generation. Im also looking for how will the cards perform 2 years from now? Will the 3080ti still be better? There’s a third option where i hope that the Black Friday deal does me good and discounts the cheapest 4070ti (which currently costs 1000€) since it is a little out of my price range. Edit: i use 2 monitors one is 1080p 144hz and the other 1440p 165hz (i always game at 2k as long as the fps stays above 100)

I want to upgrade my ssd, but I have only one PCI-E x4 slot which is already populated with my old SSD with Windows already on it. (I have two m.2 slots but the 4x one is switches to x2 when both slots are populated), I was thinking of migrating the data on my old ssd to my hard drive using a tool, then switching the ssd to a new one, and then moving the operating system onto the new ssd. Is that going to work? What should I watch out for? Any help will be much appreciated

Hello everybody first time posting here , I'm due for an upgrade and I'm planning to swap half my desktop system with new parts. I will change my old motherboard with a new one, a new CPU and an air cooler. My thinking is that since I still have decent memory inside ("Corsair Vengeance LPX" 2x8GB @3000MHz : 16-17-17-35), I should buy some more instead of replacing it. I've heard that in order to have a better chance for system stability, ideally I have to install the exact same pair of modules. I'm probably just paranoid over nothing, but here are my questions: The RAM I've found and will probably buy is a kit of "Corsair Vengeance LPX" 2x8GB @3000MHz : 16-20-20-38. Is there going to be a problem if the timings are not identical? The new motherboard I bought is a "Gigabyte B550M Aorus Elite Motherboard Micro ATX", with specs that support 3200MHz and 2933MHz, but not 3000MHz that is the RAM I have. I guess it will default at 2933 for every RAM when I enable XMP and it will be indistinguishable. Am i wrong here? Is there anything else that I should check so I'm 100% sure everything is goint to work properly? Thanks !

Hello everyone! My computer was damaged from an old roommate, but I have saved certain items. As of now, it's up and running, and here are the specs: Asus Tuf b450 gaming plus ii, Ryzen 5 3600 with a 220w tower cooler, 2x8gb XPG 3200 mhz, ASRock Radeon RX 6600 8gb, MSI A750GL, and WD 1TB SSD. I'm looking to improve overall speed, and improving FPS wouldn't hurt too. I was considering upgrading to a Ryzen 7 5700X, but unsure if I should upgrade to 32gb of RAM? I know 3200mhz is what is supported, but this is my first build, and I'm really not quite sure what the right move is. I'm also unaware of how to properly set up my BIOS to maximize efficiency without burning out my system (I have no idea how overclocking works lol). Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Alright, so, I've been looking around for a new CPU and an upgrade has been overdue. I was looking at some CPUs and I'm not sure what to go for. Budget isn't exactly an issue, but if there's really a minimal difference and not much for the use case for the over-the-top CPUs, then I might as well not overspend. Also, bottlenecking issues could arise. At this point, I have to change my motherboard for any CPU upgrade really, so it doesn't matter about intel vs Ryzen. Also looking for general upgrade tips. I'm mainly trying to upgrade my CPU since it's been acting up a little and not performing as well as I want it to in games. Here's my current build: CPU: i7-7700k GPU: 1080ti Strix Motherboard: Maximus IX Hero Ram: (4*8) 32 Gigs at 2667 MHz Cooler: Corsair H100i v2 I was looking at these CPUs: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D My only thought was, should I just go for an AM5 socket since AM4 likely won't have any future upgrades and I'd just have to get yet another motherboard along the line? Also, which really performs better between the 5900x and 5800x3d.

Hello, My old scrapped together PC (i7 3770 + GTX 1060 6Gb) still works fine, and I do not have the money nor need to replace it properly. However, the random trash salvage sticks of ram add up to only 14Gb (3 4Gb unmatched sticks + one 2Gb stick) Of perhaps interest, It actually originally had 16Gb, but the random dumpster ram kept dying, and I eventually ran out of 4Gb sticks, and threw in a 2gb stick. It's still in there, alive and seemingly well! I would like more ram, at a low as possible price. It's DDR3, and upgrading it makes little sense, but I would like a little more. Just spending a few minutes looking around ebay, prices are high even for something this old. Can anyone send some links to more reasonable prices / options? I would settle for 2 8gig sticks, as even that would be more than what I have right now. The motherboard is a proprietary HP one if that matters. Mobo: Hewlett-Packard 1790 (SOCKET 0) CPU: Intel Core i7 3770 @ 3.40GHz Thank you very much!

Hey guys, just wanted to ask if a ASUS ProArt GeForce RTX 4070 OC Edition 12GB for around 700$ is a good price? Iam currently running a GTX 1060, and i really need an upgrade... Or are there better alternatives for an (some what) futureproof upgrade ? Thanks in advance!

Hi all, I’m an amateur PC gamer from the Netherlands and during the COVID lockdown I built my first gaming rig. I recently got Jedi: Survivor and have been enjoying the game so far. I have a 165 Hz 1440p gaming monitor from Dell and would like to play games like this at 1440p with preferably 80+ FPS (right now I am getting between 40 and 60 on medium to high settings). For me the game is definitely still enjoyable but I was just wondering what PC part would be wise to upgrade first to improve the performance? My specs right now are: GPU: RTX 3070 Ti Founders Edition CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X RAM: 2x8GB 3200 MHz DDR4 (HyperX FURY) Motherboard: Asus TUF Gaming B550M-PLUS Wifi PSU: NZXT C650 650W ATX PSU Is my CPU perhaps bottlenecking my GPU? What would you guys recommend?

Budget (including currency): 300$~Ish (USD) I have some leeway Country: Panama I can get things from the US shipped here, larger parts will have a larger import cost. Here are links to the two trusted, local component retailers if they're helpful: Yoytec Loltec Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Minecraft, SF6, GG Strive, UMVC3. I Also want to be able to capture, edit and stream footage from my Switch. I use OBS for capture and I am interested in Davinci Resolve/ Shotcut for video editing. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Current Build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XFDW9c My current priority is to reduce the PC’s footprint on my (limited) desk space. I want to use a smaller case. Which I know will require better cooling than the stock intel cooler I have right now. I need help deciding on a case Option 1 Option 2 Option 3 Option 4 (Edit: I know the cases have around the same width and depth. But the reduction in height is what I'm after.) I have some concerns over the Jonsbo case and the USB-C port compatibility with my MoBo. I also read there are some clearance issues with some headers along the bottom. I want to deck out the case with non-RGB Noctua fans and Stick a Noctua Air Cooler on the processor My other main concern is the PSU. I'm not sure what is on my current PC but I don’t know if I’ll need to get a different one for the Small case. So that’d be good to know (I'm very much open to recommendation) Last notes: I’m considering a PCIe Wireless/Bluetooth card since my current TP-link dongle has spotty signal. Depending on how the PSU situation works out i might add an M.2 SSD for my OS drive

As little as possible in € Greece Gaming mostly some light programming Laptop with i7 7700hq, 1050 mobile 8gb dual channel the model is HP Omen 128gb C drive m.2 nvme and 1tb kingston a400 sata 3 ssd I am would like a small upgrade to storage and RAM. The max RAM is 16 as far as I have searched, and I would like to upgrade to a 1tb C drive and with a faster model than the one installed. It can get a full 2280 nvme as far as I know. The question is: is the RAM worth it since the machine is quite old? I am thinking of upgrading to a full machine in a few years as well. Since both slots are occupied I have to basically throw away the other ones as well.

Country: Croatia, but I can import from other EU countries. Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Counter-Strike 2, Fortnite, Rocket League, and single-player games from time to time. For programs, I use Sony Vegas and Photoshop sometimes. Other details: My current PC is https://pcpartpicker.com/list/wsdPfy , just without the Corsair 4000D, I have a really old case, but it has enough airflow for now. My main game is Counter-Strike 2, and as it seems now, Ryzen 5 3600 won't be getting close to the 240fps that I need. I play on 1600x900@240hz. I have seen some tests with Ryzen 7 5800X3D and Ryzen 7 7800X3D, but I am opting to go with 5800X3D, because I don't have the budget to change parts for the 7800X3D. I have 4 questions: I want to upgrade to Ryzen 7 5800X3D, so I was wondering can this motherboard support it and if this PSU is good enough to support all of the components, as I am not looking to upgrade the GPU any time soon? If I go with the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, what is the best cooler I should be looking for? I am leaning more toward the air coolers if possible. Which case would you recommend to me? I don't need any RGB, aesthetics don't matter, airflow is the most important part. Is there anything I should know when upgrading to 5800X3D? Do I just need to upgrade BIOS before installing it or are there any other options that I should change when installing it?

Is upgrading from a GTX 1650 to a RTX 4070 really worth it?
Grant M posted a topic in Graphics Cards
Is upgrading from my really old 1650 to a brand new RTX 4070 worth it considering the $550 price and the specs? I need some opinions. I like fortnite, minecraft, call of duty warzone, forza horizon 5, jedi fallen order, apex legends, counter strike, etc. I play at 1440p. CPU is a AMD Ryzen 5700g overclocked to 4.4 ghz RAM: 16 GB 3200mhz trident z neo MB: Asus ROG strix b450f-II gaming -

Country: India Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Blender Cycles, Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator, Cyberpunk 2077, Forza Horizon 5, Minecraft RTX SCENARIO: So, I have my system with me since almost 6 years, her name is Stygian and she is my first high end build. I majorly use her for my Automotive Design related projects along with Gaming and Entertainment. The specs are as follows: Intel Core i7 6700k / NVidia GeForce GTX 1070 FE / Asus Z170 Pro Gaming / HyperX DDR4 16GB RAM / Cooler Master MA610p / Adata SSD + WD HDD / Cooler Master G550M / Cooler Master CM Storm I have it paired with Logitech Mechs, Wacom Intuos, LG IPS 4K panel and HK Soundsticks 4 for my requirements. Elephant in the room: Now, I have a MSI NVidia GeForce RTX 3090 Suprim X sitting with me that I would love to use. The Plan: As I am not willing to spend too much of money on a computer in today's market (And do not wish to go through the pain of re-installing windows and migrate the data) I have planned something out: I will be investing a bit in a Cooler Master 850 Gold PSU, a Corsair or Lian Li Cabinet and a couple more RAM sticks, then just throw my current system into it along with the 3090, and keep my 1070 FE as a pretty trophy. I need help with: Knowing if it will be a 'survivable' enough combination, and/or if there are better ways I could plan this revamp out, as I have fallen quite off from the PC building world in past few years. I am willing to keep the 6700k and the mobo because it is good enough for my needs, and I don't wish to break my wallet that is being eaten by my car and bike and bike gear! Hope to know your views, thank you!
