Hi, so I'm making an new pc and I'm gona use it for indie game dev (unity/blender) and some casual low- mid level gaming. I have a limited budget tho. I am confused wether to get a i3 10th (10100f 4 core 8 thread) and a Quadro T400 (only available in budget since the T600 is out of stock) or wether i should get a 5600g and buy a GPU a year or 2 later. Also, pls don't waste your time suggesting the rtx 3050 bcz it's obviously not gonna sell for 250 or even less than 300 bucks. Thanks in advance.

Hi in advance thabk you for taking the time to read this, i had a new oc built by gladiator pcs in the uk roughly 5 months ago. I have never since day one been able to play any game that uses the unity engine roughly 80% of them just crash out on startup and provide no crash logs, the other 20% will load but with such massive graphical issues that i cant even navigate the main menus. My specs are as below: Components 1 x 32GB (2x16GB) Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO Black 3600MHz AMD Ryzen Tuned DDR4 Memory Kit 1 x 512GB M.2 PCI-E NVMe Solid State Drive [Up to 3500MB/s Read | Up to 2300MB/s Write] 1 x ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING DDR4 ATX MOTHERBOARD - AURA SYNC RGB READY! 1 x CiT Crossfire Black Midi Tower Tempered Glass PC Gaming Case 1 x 700W | Be Quiet! System Power | 80+ Bronze | Fully Wired PSU 1 x 2TB Seagate Barracuda SATA III 3.5" Hard Drive 6GB/s 1 x MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 8GB GAMING X TRIO Ampere Graphics Card 1 x ASUS Xonar AE 7.1 PCI-E Gaming Sound Card 1 x Windows 10 Home 64 bit Operating System 1 x AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 8 Core CPU with Wraith Prism RGB Cooler [GPU Required] 1 x GameMax Iceberg RGB Watercooler - 240mm I have already tried the standard things like reformatting and resting drivers for things even trying older drivers and the such to no avail, have even tried a gpu and ram from another system which works fine, and put my gpu and ram in another system again with no issues. Gladiatorpc are refusing to help anymore as theyve tested the hardware and its fine. I have even paid two local companies to take a look and nothing has changed i have exhausted my patience with googling things and trying to fix it myself so im reaching out anywere i can, any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Simon

i'm using the flatpak install of unity3d hub, and xdg open just takes me to login page which takes me to a blank tab. i am logged in via browser. using "./unityhub" says command doesn't exthist. unityhub isn't a command set either. i saw solutions using these commands, and copying the source url of said blank tab, but i don't have the command in the first place to apply it. sorry in advance if this belongs in the linux section instead of software. any suggestions to pas the login loop is welcome

There was a game that once I played on my old pc and I forgot its name and cant remember it now and cant even find it on my hard drive cus I F*kn deleted it. It was a game made in unity engine and its art style was something different. The background was like while and all the textures were multicolored and were hand painted as imported to unity which is one thing I remember about the game. It was a 3d game based on exploration and was played by many youtubers when it launched. It was probably on itch.io. It was played my markiplier and he is the person from which I got to know about that game. I also remember that this game started in this scene where you are travelling in a train and then you look at your watch and then you see the dials move and then you reach your destination and then you walk on a some kind of sea port like the ones you have at the places where boats dock and then you walk to some place that I dont remember. It was an awesome game but I cant remember the name of it. If someone can please help...!

I'm putting my help question here since it's a problem with Ubuntu and Linux in general. I've made a test game, program, thing in Unity and exported to Linux with the Universal Option, put it on my Ubuntu VM, and Terminal says: bash: ./Audio Visualizer.x86: No such file or directory I've looked up this problem on Google but to no avail. Everything I do comes with the same response. When I did: ldd Audio\ Visualizer.x86 it returns not a dynamic executable. I'm so lost because I'm used to Windows and macOS and not Linux. By the way, I know Linux and macOS share the same ancestor but they both branched off into different directions, and macOS is more user friendly.

Hello Everyone, There is probably already a topic similar to this one, but I've been doing my research for quite a bit now and I really can't find anything that would answer my question. So just to set the scene I'm currently using Lenovo Z50-70 with Intel i5-4210U @1.70Ghz Nvidia GeForce 840M 8GB RAM and Windows 10 on it. I've been using it for almost 2 years now and I can say it had decent performance everything you'd expect form around 700$ laptop (EU price so it's a bit more than the USA probably). Playing GTA V, Minecraft and PES 2017 was quite nice. But the main purpose for this laptop was Uni ad since I'm studying ICT engineering with specialization in the game and mobile app development I've com to the point where I definitely need something more. Basically, I'm considering to get MacBook Pro 13" with touch bar because it has better CPU's than the nontouch bar model but there are multiple CPU and RAM variants so I was wondering can someone help me a bit about that. Just to make it clear Windows Laptop is also an option but I'm currently aiming at Mac because of Unity3D and IOS development. Shortly I need help about the new laptop for Java programming in Eclipse, Unity3D, IOS development and some basic to intermediate video and photo editing. Budget would be around 2000 EUR (~2240.14 USD)

Have been asked to make a system upgrade recommendation for a new workstation in the office. Main requirements are: Generating light maps and running real time global illumination in large high detail Unity3d scenes. Rendering scenes in a variety of video resolutions including 8k (8192 x 4096) Editing the 8k Pro Res 422 files in Adobe Pr CC So far I have narrowed it down to the R9 3950X, i9 9960X or maybe 3rd gen threadripper Intel seems to have the advantage with 8k in Adobe but with the potential price difference and the 3950x is said to have significantly higher clocks; I'm not sure if this matters much overall. Is there any clear advantage between the two I'm missing here? Also is there any argument in favour of a TR chip instead like the 3960X? Just for context here are the likely specs for the rest of the build: 64/128GB Ram 2080ti m.2 boot drive

So Im currently looking for an Laptop as an second System for Unity and other coding, it doesn't have to have the best performance since its only a second system, but it also shuldn't be extremly slow. Here are some features that it shuld have: -Long Battery life -4+ core Cpu -8gb + Ram -upgradable RAM and (Hard)drive/s -discrete Graphics card and here some features that would be nice to have: -2 (Hard)drives -docking station -touchscreen -3,5" Harddrives Do you think a Thinkpad T540P with 16GB ram an i7-4710MQ at 2,5GHz and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 730M with 1GB vram would work? What Laptops do you recomend? Thanks in advance for your help

Alright. I now have MacBook Pro Early 2013. Equipped with: i7-3740QM (2.7 to 3.7 Turbo boost) 16 GB DDR3L 1600MHz RAM GT 650M with 1 GB GDDR5 Use cases: I am a student and I'm doing all these programming stuff virtually full time. This also includes working with Unity3D from time to time (not AAA stuff, but still 3D scenes intended for desktop). + usual web browsing, video watching, light gaming (those 500+ hours in Binding of Isaac, yee). The current specs are pretty decent for these tasks. However the laptop started lagging in recent years – mainly due to thermal throttling I guess (Apple support did not see any problem with it, so I opened it up myself, cleaned it and reapplied thermal paste; it helped a bit – at least it does not heat up to 100C watching YouTube any more – but it's still not as good as new definitely); the battery is pretty worn out by this time too. Also, I'm quite fed up with macOS and Mac ecosystem in general (thanks Apple for the great chargers that I had to change 3 times already). So I'm thinking about changing my working machine now. I would go for a desktop, if I was not in a position of moving place practically ones a year. Hence, I'm looking for a laptop. What caught my eye are XPS 15 2-in-1 (i5-8305G, 8GB DDR4, RX Vega 870 with 4GB) and X1 Yoga 3rd gen (i5-8250U, 8GB LPDDR3 2133MHz, Intel UHD Graphics 620). I'm quoting here the lowest specs for them available as I think that i5 might be sufficient for my tasks (I might be wrong), although 8GB RAM and GPUs might be a bit concerning. Also, i5 version of XPS has way better battery life, but it is hard to judge, as there are not many reviews yet. Traits I'm looking for: Obviously it must handle the tasks mentioned above. Typing experience is crucial. I really like my current keyboard (although some keys started failing after 5 years of heavy usage), but the keyboard of the new MacBook Pro felt really cheap. The maglift keyboard of XPS sounds really interesting and promising (again hard to judge due to lack of reviews). Good enough cooling: I do not mind any noise at all, as long as it prevents the machine from boiling. Decent battery life, I need some portability (of course not like 20 hours). I do not mind the weight that much – something around 2 kilos is totally fine. 2-in-1: it is preferable. I miss my old iPad, so it might be a good addition. Although it is not crucial, if there exist a really good system for these tasks without those features. Well, I'm looking for advice here. I'm still in doubt if 8 gig would be enough. I'm still not sure how Vega 870, UHD 620 and my old GT 950M compare. I'm not quite sure if there are any really good options that I'm missing out, apart from those two. So yeah, any hints would be welcome. (The post came out way longer than I expected)

So i am making a pause menu and i need it so when i click the continue button in the pause menu that it turns the "isEnabled" variable in another script to false. When i make add in the code i researched for accessing another script, I have been getting an error.. Here is the Error: I keep getting an error like this "Assets/WaterBottle.cs(12,42): error CS0120: An object reference is required to access non-static member `SurvivalSystem.drink' " Here is the code that runs the continue button: using UnityEngine; using System.Collections;public class PauseMenu : MonoBehaviour { public PauseController disable; //Variable for making a copy of the script. public AudioSource ClickSound; public GameObject pauseToggle; public void start() { disable = GameObject.FindGameObjectWithTag("Player").GetComponent<PauseController>();//code to access the other script from the player controller. } public void Continue() { disable.isEnabled=(false); //To disable the pause menu in the other script. pauseToggle.SetActive (false); //Ignore Debug.Log ("Continuing game"); //Debug log } //YOU CAN IGNORE EVERYTHING UNDER THIS COMMENT LINE!!!!!!! public void Home() { Debug.Log ("Loading Main Menu"); pauseToggle.SetActive (false); Application.LoadLevel (); } public void QuitToDeskTop() { ClickSound.Play (); Application.Quit (); } } And here is the code that i am using to enable and disable my pause menu: using UnityEngine; using System.Collections; public class PauseController : MonoBehaviour { public GameObject pauseMenu; //To enable the pausemenu overlay. public bool isEnabled = false; //Disable pause menu on start up. public void start() { } void Update() { // Enable pause menu if (Input.GetKeyDown(KeyCode.Escape) && !isEnabled) { pauseMenu.SetActive(true); isEnabled = true; } // disable pause menu else if (Input.GetKeyDown(KeyCode.Escape) && isEnabled) { pauseMenu.SetActive(false); isEnabled = false; } } } Can somebody please help me! I need this for a project in college and I want to get it done over the weekend! I will really appreciate it if someone can help me get these two scripts to work with each other. **NOTE!** This is not a advertisement for Unity3D nor am I affiliated with Unity3D! Alright so as the title has implied what do you think of Unity3D? and the future of indie friendly game engines like Unity? With so many 3D and 2D game engines coming out that allow for rapid development, Unity is one of the top hits among indie developers and the likes. With Unity's 3D and 2D functionality you can make games in Unity to your hearts content because Unity's main language is C# it is very easy to begin scripting because lets admit it C# is a darn easy programming language! Now this is not to say that Unity isn't the only easy to use 3D and 2D game engine out there there is also Unreal Engine 4 which can give you stunning graphics with minimal work and with Unreal Engine 4's Blueprint visual scripting it is hands down another top hit among indie developers but it's undeniable that Unity's UI is more user friendly and with Unity 5. Unity can also sport some really stunning graphics. So what do you think of Unity? This brings me to my last question what do you think of the future of Unity and the direction of these types of game engines as a whole?

So I would like to get a new laptop for my third year in college. I commute about 45 min by train to school so something portable that I could use on my commute is nice. I would like to be able to do some moderate gaming(nothing crazy mostly indie games) and most of the work I do is coding in game engines such as Unity3D. The budget is $900 so here are some specs I'm looking for: Battery: ~5 hr Weight: > 6lbs Resolution: 1920 x 1080(more text on screen the better) and preferrably a laptop 15.6 inches or lower Currently after some research I found two laptops that I'm considering getting the first is http://www.xoticpc.com/asus-u38nds81t-touch-p-6121.html which I like for the form factor though I don't know about perfromance of mobile apu's the second is http://www.xoticpc.com/asus-n550jvdb71-eta-midaugust-p-6115.html which I like for the power of course and would be a little bit out of my budget with the upgrade to the hardrive I would want to make, but I'm willing to go over if it will perform better in the long run, open to other suggestions though.
