Hello, I have just recently noticed something strange is happening when trying to charge my phone with a type c cable to type c from my motherboard. My phone is a samsung and It's displaying "x" amount of battery and "x" amount of time until it's fully charged. Whenever I plug it in it will not go up / down and just stay at the same amount of battery percentage. I'm not sure what is causing this and all my usb devices are up to date. I wonder if this is just something wrong with my motherboard. or the cable. Another thing to note is that I don't hear anything on my windows when i plug it and isn't detected in file explorer "This PC" which it did used to. If anybody knows why it's doing this, it would be greatly appreciated. Motherboard: B450 GIGABYTE AORUS PRO (non-wifi)

Hi All So I teach in the mornings and do have a problem class that just doesn't concentrate well. I won't go too far into it but these kids' parents bought their way into the school. Most of my presentations are PowerPoint based and I've been using a presentation pointer which works well as it allows me to walk around the class and still teach, but functionality is limited to up and down. It does have a laser pointer but this doesn't work well on monitors. I do rely on the pointer as walking around the class, especially near the disruptive ones and engaging them does quiet them down/cause them to write. I've been adapting presentations and finding new ones that may engage with them more (more dynamic), but my simple pointer wouldn't be enough. My computer is a laptop/tablet combo (Asus ROG Z13, was on an unboxing video with Alex) and works well. I'm thinking that if I could find a good wireless type C transmitter to HDMI receiver, I could still walk around the class but be able to click on different parts of my laptop's screen (more dynamic presentations) rather than just up/down. Whilst I can find HDMI options, I'd like to keep the bulk down considering I'd be carrying it around. My laptop has 2xType C ports (not sure of the generation but I believe support TB3), I guess the best thing would be to have a Type C to HDMI adaptor and have the transmitter plugged into that, potentially a small mod to have it not dangling around too much. The type C port isn't the sturdiest in the world, so I know I'd have to be careful with it. Does anybody have any thoughts, feedback, or experience with this sort of setup? Many thanks!

Hello everyone. I have a problem. A weird one. When i insert something(doesn't matter what, gamepad or usb hub) in front Type C in my PC case, and when i reboot PC, my NVMe (1 TB) not detected by BIOS (and Windows too). It's sometimes recognized in BIOS something like SM2267 (1GB) in System Status or nothing at all. And my another NVMe (2 TB) is fine, it's detected. 2 TB NVMe inserted in slot 1. And when i insert something in Type C on motherboard on the back, problem is not occuring. Also, when Windows booted up, Type C works fine. Windows writes this in error log: Error stornvme: The driver encountered an error in the \Device\RaidPort2 controller. Updating BIOS not helped, resetting settings to factory in BIOS, i also tried to reseat cable front Type C on motherboard, checked cables and connectors, tried install drive in different slot, nothing helped. Also when this happens, Windows is very slowly boot and then new log appears in Event Log about stornvme. But this is not all. Remember when i installed drive in different slot? It's recognized on first boot in BIOS. But after shutdown(not restart!) the problem returned. Then i tried cold boot(even turned off PSU) and now it's recognized in BIOS and Windows and after restart and sometimes even shutdown everything is fine. Windows is also booting fast as should. What the hell?! Sadly, it's not fixed it completely, problem still happens randomly after a few shutdowns(not restart). I also tried the different drive (256 GB), and it was not recognized. It was SM2263 (1 GB) in System Status in BIOS like my 1 TB drive. Cold boot with turning off PSU not worked with that drive. Also when problem happens, LED on NVMe always turned on. When NVMe detected as SM2263 LED frequently blinking. Motherboard: MSI Pro z690-a WIFI DDR4 CPU: i5 12400 PC Case: Lian Li Lancool III

My Fiance is a school teacher and she needs to connect her school issued laptop to the smart board kind of TV on the other side of the room from her desk. And the way the room is setup she can't set her laptop next to the smart board tv, so she uses a very cheap 50 foot passive hdmi cable to connect her laptop to the tv. She asked me if I could find a better slightly shorter HDMI cable for her which I have, for around 50 bucks and its an active one now, which solves some of her other problems she was having with the passive hdmi. But then she asked me if I could find her a 40ish foot long Type C to Type C cable so she can connect the laptop to the smart board tv, so she can use touch inputs on the tv, instead of having to run back and forth from her laptop to the tv to change something on the screen. I can't for the life of me find any type c to type c cables out there long enough, and ones that I trust will actually do the job. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas on some. I am not against building my own cables, but was hoping that would be the last step.

Recent got given a node 202, and i have always liked the case. And i was curious if anyone knows of a cable that splits from the motherboard 3.1 gen 1 connector (think its called type e?) To a usb 3.0 and a type c connector?

Today I have received my led magnetic type c cable and I'm just a bit worried now. It is functional and working with fast charging so this isn't something 'cheap' or is it. I bought this on AliExpress which wasn't such a smart idea but had good reviews so I said why not. Overall my total came out to £3.07 GBP equivalent to $3.87. I was charging fine, still is, I felt the plug usb a connector and it was pretty hot felt like 35 degrees Celsius (95 Fahrenheit) not sure didn't have a thermal camera or any of that kind of tech. If this helps in temperature-wise it is just bearable to touch. It has a a metal wall surrounding the circuit underneath data + data - you get it and I'm just worried as I feel like it shouldn't be this hot. However the cable is thin which probably doesn't help aswell. Can I get any suggestions on why and if this is alright to be happening or is there a plan B?

Hi There With the Steam Deck coming out soon and it only has a single USB C port for charging and the dock later once that's released. Does anyone know of a good quality USB C male too 2 USB C female cable that would support charging and data transfers. I have seen many that are made for phones that split the Type C port for power and headphones but they don't seem to support anything other then headphones. With the Steam Deck i could see it being useful to split the USB C port one for power and 1 for data so you could plug in a USB drive or a Samsung external SSD that uses Type C. Image below is an example of the cables made for phones and it would be nice to see something like this for the Steam Deck and other devices without needing a bulky hub that has many other ports. Thanks

I have a mini pc with HDMI output from intel UHD igpu on a celeron, it can connect to a tv via HDMI to HDMI jsut fine, but with my monitor with only mini HDMI and type C inputs doesn't work for some weird reason. I use a HDMI to mini HDMI cable and no signal can be detected, I also tried HDMI to HDMi cable then try using a HDMI to type C adapter but that still says no signal. I have tested all the things individually, and they all work fine. I am now VERY CONFUSED on why my moitor doesn't work for my mini pc. Please help, thanks in advance.

Hi there! So I got a HP X34 monitor (3440x1440p 165hz) monitor and two laptops - one for gaming (RTX 2070) and the other from work (i5 1135G7). Both have type c DP compatability and TB3 ports. I was hoping to find an adapter that would still drive the display at full resolution and refresh rate and have a USB port to allow for a keyboard to be connected without using the TB3 port. Reason for not the TB3 is because my next gaming laptop will be AMD CPU based and no TB3 for that (and TB3less cables are cheaper) I'm already using a type c to DP cable to connect the monitor to my laptops and they do work at full resolution and refresh rate. The gaming laptop is a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port (I think). I've seen some adapters on Amazon that look like they'll do (and even have PD pass through which my work laptop supports) but they say it's only good enough for 4K 60Hz which is less bandwidth than the HP needs. Or am I overthinking it and that 4K 60hz cable is fine? I'm in the UK so a UK seller would be preferred but I am open to importing it.

A Swiss guy by the name of Kenny Pi has posted a video in may in which he explains how one could (theoretically) install a full functioning type c port on their iPhone. The guy even has a working model! (note that part 2 hasn't come out at the time of post). He also shoes a proof of concept in his video. I also added some of the photos he used for his blog post. So I'd like some help finding a decent USB hub that would best take advantage of the USB 3.2 gen 2x2 Type C plug. It's all confusing in looking for hubs that use type C for an input as a lot of the ones I've found are mainly for laptops and have things like HDMI in and that sort of thing. So I thought there is no better place to come to for help than here!

Okay, so I am probably not the first to ask this. Is there a way through an adapter or some sort to connect the USB Type C cable from the front panel to power rather than to the motherboard? Most ITX boards don't have a USB 3.1 Type E connection on the board unless you want to fork over a bit more money. I am currently looking a inexpensive ITX for a build in a H210. To get a Type E connection on the board, I would have to nearly double the price of the board. Researching shows that you can connect it to a PCI-E card, but because it is an ITX mobo, that really is not an option. I have also seen a video where a guy built a computer with an M.2 adapter with a PCI-E card and sata power, but it was REALLY JANKY(see video below). I am wondering if there is a way to connect the cord to sata for power. At the end of the day, I could care less about the data, but power delivery would a benefit just so the connection does not go to waste. Alternatively, I would consider if there a test USB 3.0 20-pin splitter where where one end goes to the USB Type A cord and other end goes to a 20-pin to the Type C cord. Has anyone tried that?

Rerouting my Front IO Type C to female USB A?
V1NC3 posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I bought the NZXT H510 elite a while ago knowing, that my Motherboard doesn't have the USB 3.1 Gen 2 Internal Header I would need to use the USB Type-C on my front IO. I came up with a different use case for the port though. I thought about putting a hidden drive on that port, that I can access on my PC using a USB C to A cable (Sorry I am rather bad at explaining this, I will ad a illustration of my plans). However I have no Idea on what adapters I would need to transform the USB 3.1 Gen 2 Internal Header to a female USB A port (to plug in a USB Stick for example). I would really appreciate any help and If my description isn't clear enough I'll be glad to answer questions. -
I have a wired mechanical keyboard... I want to make a type c port for it and make the wire removeable... I found a type c port online for cheap but theres like 24 pinouts... I found a guide online but have no idea how to interpret it... can someone please help... where do I connect to 4 wires from the 2.0 cable to the type C port... and it would really help if you could help me how to read the table below... *do i just wire the 4 cables straight to the port? or do i have to wire some resistors (read some vague thingiesbthat you have to wire resistors for it to work)

What can i use the non-thunderbolt Type-C port in my Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3i for, other than connecting my phone? The website says I can't use it for external displays... Any other use case scenarios?

I was going through the LTT backlog and I noticed that Linus in this video mentions that the price difference between USB Type C and Micro USB is $0.15. However, in this WAN Show topic, when defending his position on not "going in on" a headphone manufacturer for using Micro USB, he mentions that it is much more expensive to implement USB Type C compared to Micro USB. I'm confused by his position on this and would like to know how he actually feels about this and what is the truth.

Hi, my first time on the LTT forum and I am wondering if there is such a device that plugs in via type c into a mobile phone to extend the range of a 4g signal? Thanks -Josh

ok so i have an older am running an older Asus 970 series motherboard, with an fx series processor. i also have a second hand thunderbolt 3 dock. i was looking into getting a thunderbolt 3 add in card to use it. but i keep seeing people say they have issues with TB3 cards working on pcie gen 2 connectors. I'm currently happy with my system, and not looking to upgrade soon. so does anyone have any experience with this? also if i plugged the TB3 dock into a type c(non-TB3) port would the usb still pass through to the dock, im pretty sure the display wouldn't. but just curious. I have a ROG Strix GL503 with: i7-7700HQ 16 gigs of ram ddr4 GTX 1060 6GB At the time i got it i was impressed and i still am of how good can it keep up with new titles. However, things evolve and i might need a newer GPU at some time. I`ve seen lately videos about people using eGPUs through type c thunderbolt and i wondered if i could do the same at some point. In terms of I/O i have multiple USB 3.1 type a (5 Gb/s) but i`m planning on using the type c 3.1 gen 2 port since it`s twice faster (10 GB/s). Can i use a eGPU with this port? Does anyone tried something like this before? How different is compared to thunderbolt 2/3 ?

I'm seeking any information anyone has read or tested themselves regarding how much wattage (volts x amps) the latest type-c motherboard headers provide for device charging purposes. In the official USB literature linked below I can only find 3 Amps listed on the last page, but nothing about Voltage is specified. https://www.usb.org/sites/default/files/USB3p1_Front_Panel_CabCon_Implment_Doc_Rev1p1.pdf I'm wondering exactly how good these ports are for charging phones and tablets. If anyone has the right electrical meters to test this themselves, it would be greatly appreciated.

Do those lightning to type-c adapters even work? I need one for my ipad 6 and I've come to understand that they used to not work prior to ipados 13. So what about now? They are quite cheap from the chinese market, but here in my country (Bulgaria) they are actually expensive. So I don't wanna buy a brick to throw around. Can anyone confirm that the lightning (male) to usb type c (female) adapters work (for data transfer and charging)? Thanks in advance! P.S. These things should be pennies, not the bulgarian equivalent of 15 dollars....

Hi guys, so i'm confused against USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 TYPE-C. USB 3.0 goes into the USB 3.2 internal connector in the motherboard, but where does USB 3.1 TYPE-C goes? Do they go to the same place?

Hi guys I have 2 earbuds one type c and one 3.55 but these with type c port are better quality, so I am trying to test if I can cut the 3.55mm jack from other earbuds and cut the type c and tinker the cables from 3.5mm to the earbuds that had type c (short-I want to change jack type c to 3.5mm without a dongle or replacing earbuds ) Im asking if its possible.
