So I'm thinking of building a massive pc. I have about 10K to spend on the best hardware I can possibly get. but here is where my problem is: I want to stream to twitch. simple, but I have never tried to stream or even capture my gameplay. I have found that having a capture card increases cpu usage but im not too worried about that. i am worried that the good quality coming out of my new gtx titan x's (4 of them, dont ask) in sli will be decreased by the time it gets through to my monitor, as the good quality must go out of my graphics card then into the capture card, (im thinking of getting this one: https://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=25876&cPath=1141 )and then the capture card to my monitor. i'mworried that the quality is going to decrease inside the capture card and i will see horrible quality on my monitor. can anyone please help explain if this is true. current hardware: CPU: Intel Core i7 6700K RAM: 32gb ddr4 HDD: 2tb wd black SSD: 512gb samsing 850 pro GPU: 4X GTX titan x OVERCLOCKED (slightly) in sli CASE: its a custom one i got made for $1550

Should LTT do a Twitch live stream during office hours? They don't have to set it up to show anything or even play to the cam but make it more like a surveillance camera live stream. I think it would get a ton of viewers just wanting to see the day to day iner workings of LTT.

Hi, I've searched around and couldn't find reliable information about how well a G3258 would perform for this purpose and want a few other opinions before I actually purchase anything. I plan on building a streaming PC for cheap so my primary computer isn't so strained while streaming and gaming. I've heard about Intel QuickSync and how it uses the integrated graphics to encode video quickly, but will this still be viable when the computer doesn't have dedicated graphics? The computer will use OBS and will capture video from my other computer via a PCI-E capture card. I plan on liquid cooling and overclocking. I'm thinking about using the G3258 because it uses the LGA 1150 socket which means I could eventually save and upgrade to something like the i7 4790K in the future. What can I expect when using a Pentium G3258 for a dedicated "Stream PC", for Twitch/Recording In case anybody wants to see a PC Part Picker for this. Just keep in mind that I put that together with upgradeability and portability in mind. That is why it's an mITX build so I can bring it to LANs, That is why I chose a Z97 board, one stick of RAM, and so on. Samsung SSD because I already own one. But the whole build isn't the point of this thread, I just want to know if anyone here has experience with streaming with the G3258. I plan on replacing it down the line and am trying to gauge whether or not I should just opt to save more and buy something much stronger.

Can someone help me build a laptop SUITABLE for csgo and h1z1. It doesn't need to be perfect, I would just like to play it efficiently. My budget is between £250-£400. I know it's cheap but I don't need some monster computer, I would just like an efficient laptop that can run csgo and h1z1 so I can socialise with my friends. Need to know ASAP so I can order. Thanks.

Hello all! I am trying to help a friend of mine who streams on Twitch. She is looking for a capture card to stream her Wii-U games. She uses Open Broadcaster as her streaming software. What capture cards would you guys recommand for her to buy and use? I know that the Wii-U has a HDMI output. I also know that it should have a low latency so there is no input lag if she is viewing the game on either a TV or computer monitor. Price range lets say around $200 and up. Good quality and easy to use. Open Broadcaster would probably see the card as a video capture device so a USB plug into her computer. Please let me know as I don't know all that much about them but I wanted to make sure she got the best "price to performance ratio". Thanks in advance!

I am getting into PC gaming twitch streaming and was wondering what the best way to do it was. My main PC has a i5 4590 inside, and my secondary laptop has a i5 3210m inside. Would it be better to stream (using OBS, or nvidia shadowplay) on my main PC but the game and Skype will be open as well so it may inpact game and stream performance. Or use a capture card and my laptop to stream, even though the CPU isn't as good I can dedicate 100% of the computer to the stream.

Is Luke The new LMG CEO instead of Linus? Because I don't see Linus in the stream today (Which doesn't affect too much), and in the stream the team make jokes about Linus, and lastly he's not in a few recent;y uploaded videos. Can anyone get this thing straight? Not saying that it's a bad thing if the CEO change, I'm just curious.

So because i have a 750 ti and plan on getting a better graphics card at Christmas should i get a 780 as its basically the same price on amazon.ca (yes im canadian) or get a 970 since it seems to perform slightly better. The other option which i assume might happen is that nvdia will release a new lineup and the 980 price goes down but i have a limit of like 500$ CDN. When the 900 series came out the 780 went from 650 to 500 so does anyone think that will happen again? Thank you

for the longest time i would be able to stream for 7-10 hours but recently i have been getting random blue screens, i can not get then error fast enough because how fast it goes away but i do have the dump files if that would help. if you need more info on the dump heres a pic https://gyazo.com/766957bcfa9df6ccfefdabfa00fa6717

Twitch keeps loading up like this. Started a day or 2 ago. I changed my DNS to Googles open 8.8.8.8 , 8.8.4.4. That didn't help. Any one experience this before?

Hey everyone! I'm trying to build a pc separate from my usual rig. One that I can dedicate to streaming media to youtube or twitch. It won't be for streaming games, just content. I'm a n00b to streaming and I don't know much about capture cards. I have two main questions, but any input is appreciated. I already have a mini itx h77 board. Can I get by with a cheapie centrino? And lastly can anyone recommend a capture card for when I eventually stream video from a DSLR? Thanks in advance

Original Source: Tech Crunch YouTube has been busy relaunching it's gaming focused streaming site YouTube Gaming. Tech Crunch has announced that tomorrow August 26th will be the day the site launches in the US and UK. It's been pretty interesting watching as YouTube apparently made moves to acquire Twitch, only to have e-commerce and hosting giant Amazon do so instead. Earlier this summer YouTube announced, without great detail, that they will be going head to head with Twitch in the game streaming space. Twitch seemed pretty welcome to the challenge. They are in the advantageous position of being the established standard with exclusive deals to steam eSports and game launches. So what features will you want to see to make YouTube Gaming the site you go to for throwing up your dongers? A better chat system has been mention by most and pics on Tech Crunch indicate they have worked on this. Will you just follow your favorite streamers regardless of platform? If you're a streamer what kind of subscriptions split and other monetization will you want to see to make the switch? Are you on Hitbox? (Lolz). Check out more pics on the Tech Crunch site.

I like the WAN Show, it's great. Even with it's constant technical issues, and the fact that it rarely starts 'on time' it tends to be great. Though most of the time it has news and info I heard earlier in the week, getting a different perspective on it is great. As well as the fact that Linus and Luke are are often able to go into more detail on a story with some technical knowledge or experience related to the topic. It is worth waiting for, whether it starts on time, or 20+ minutes late. But I think it can be better A bad part about the WAN Show is Twitch Chat. Twitch chat unfortunately in most cases, across most channels is a shit show. It is consistent of people posting ASCII art of Hitler or genitalia and what not, or people spamming the same useless text or message over and over in some vain attempt to be noticed on the internet. A big part of why this happens is that these channels are have no moderation, or very little. That coupled with the fact that productive members of chat rarely get acknowledged on-air causes a reduction in those people participating in the chat and making it positive and useful. As things currently stand it's not reasonable to expect Luke or Linus to do that because chat goes by so fast that it's barely worth reading for anyone that is an active part of the WAN Show's production, let alone other viewers in the chat. Here's where actual moderation comes into play, and it does not take much at all. This is an example for a channel I moderate (along with other moderators) And I should say right now. I am not campaigning to be a mod on the WAN Show. I am not around often enough for that to be reasonable, I have not proven myself in any way shape or form in regards to the LTT Community, and in the end, anyone can do this; 1. use R9KBeta: This command will prevent any user from posting a message containing the exact same text within 10 seconds of the same message being posted by themselves or anyone else. For example Bob notices that the WAN Show is late to start. So he says 'LinusLateTips' Jeff either notices this too, or notices what Bob said and tries to post the exact same thing; Twitch chat tells his message is too similar to another one. Jeff gets annoyed for a few second and is forced to use his brain and actively participate. This process is fairly passive. Jeff is most likely going to wait a bit longer, thing of something similar to say,and possibly more relevant and the fact that he said something different will encourage other people to ether talk directly to him, or about the new topic he started. For example, after Bob sends his message to chat, Jeff says 'I wonder why Linus is late so often, and why the intro sound is disabled, do they have a noise gate they don't know how to work?" Then Jeff and other members of chat are involved in a discussion about noise gates and streaming tech as they wait for the show to start. The majority of the arguments against R9KBeta are 'I can't say what I want to say' and the response to that is that 'If someone said it 10 seconds before you did in the exact same text, then it's not worth hearing, because it was already heard. Think it over and share a new perspective, be an active and mindful participant in the community. 2. Use Slow Mode This one is self explanatory in what it does, but it's use is massively underestimated in it's effectiveness. The channel I assist in moderating streams for an average of 7 hours on each stream 4 to 5 days every weak. Sometimes those streams go on for 9 hours. It's a gaming related stream, and on most streams maximum viewership peaks at 10,000 viewers and there are usually still 6000 left when the stream ends (which i usually at 3AM PST). It is often regarded as one of the most productive, welcoming and positive communities on all of Twitch and in the history of Twitch. This was occurring long before I even started watching it, let alone become a mod of it. The second biggest contributor to this is the usage of slow mode. Keep in mind that this channel is partnered and can easily be put into subscriber mode (I'll go into that next). All we do on most nights is do a quick judgement call based on how many people are present and how fast chat is moving and the basic guideline we follow is this: Is chat moving too fast for the channel host to follow and engage with his community? We watch him on screen and if we see his eyes darting back and forth between the game and chat, we can tell his trying to follow and having trouble so we slow it down without a word to or from him. Most of the time we have slow mode set to 30 seconds. Even with 10,000+ people present. It is very impressive how much forcing a person to think about what their saying for 30 seconds will change the dynamic of a discussion, allow for host to community engagement, and overall have a positive impact on the community. The usage of R9KBeta and Slow Mode set to a mere 30 seconds has an active group of ten thousand people in chat all having positive discussions among each other with almost no bickering or insulting occurring, and most of those are immediately resolved among the participants because the time they have to wait to talk again causes them to evaluate their words and the words of others. We as channel moderators rarely have to even say a word or lift a finger. The problem i solved in brief time it took for us to notice it. In 2 months I have had to perma-ban one single person for posting a link to an adult website and timeout another person for spamming a name in caps (he wanted the streamer to play as a certain character). Otherwise my actions have consisted of setting the amount of seconds applied to slow mode, enabling or disabling R9KBeta in certain cases, and preparing / posting straw polls in chat. 3. Straw Poll Straw poll is used often on the WAN Show, however just as often viewers are asked to spam "1" or "2" to indicate a choice. This is absolutely horrible and encourages bad behavior (spamming for example) A host asking people to spam a number is a clear indicator that they cannot follow chat and therefore they have lost control of the chat. If they are doing a live show and they lose control of their audience they have lost engagement. Keep control at all times. This is simply done by making people think about what their saying. Always use a polling service when soliciting the opinions of your viewership. StrawPoll is often the best choice because either the hosts or moderators can set it up and share the link within seconds. 4. Subscriber Mode The Wan Show does not have a subscriber button, however because it has all other partnered features it isn't exactly a hidden fact that this could be gained by Linus simply contacting Twitch, asking for it and immediately receiving it. If he asks for it, it will be given to him; that's a given. And if that happens that's great. It's extra revenue to provide higher quality videos more coverage, and if necessary, pay the salary of more staff, be they related to the WAN Show or any other facet of LTT/LMG. As to the usage of Subscriber Mode, using it sparingly is it's most effective use, and using it as a tool and not a thread or a method of disclusion (I made that word up) is it's most effective use. For example the channel I assist in moderating rarely uses subscriber mode. The only two times it is ever used is if the channel gets hosted and raided and we (as moderators) need to quickly re-establish control. In these cases because the existing community is so positive often all we have to do is turn it on for about 5 minutes and existing subsribers will continue talking and provide a few details for the newcomers who can't chat. Usually just forcing them to view the flow of discussion from current community participants is enough for them to get a handle on how conversation flows in the channel and they almost immediately become positive participants. Newcomers are frequently surprised by how orderly and positive discussion is in spite of so many people being present and sub mode being off most of the time. The second occurrence it gets used in is if the channel owner is playing an anticipated game or a game with some sort of new content or anticipated update. This attracts more viewers however it attracts more trolls. When the stream starts he advises the community that we will start in subscriber mode and apologizes for it. Why does he apologize? Because as he puts it every single time; 'It stops a lot of you really awesome people from talking to me and everyone else, and maybe you just can't subscribe, but you come here every night and support us just be watching. So I hate cutting you off like this" He then follows by reassures them that it is only temporary and the mods will be taking it out of slow mode multiple times to keep a handle on things and let more people talk as they (we) weed out the trolls. While the flow of his 'shows are different he regularly manages to engage directly with his community in spite of having 10,000+ people present on most nights. It is amazing how powerful it is to have someone mention you or another person watching the stream in a direct manner, and regularly. This does happen on the wan show however due to the fact that chat is an uncontrolled mess there. It does not happen as often as it could, or should. and this could easily change with two simple commands: /r9kbeta /slow 30 Usually after that you barely have to touch anything. If anyone from LMG is interested in knowing what this mysterious channel I keep referring to is, send me a private message here. I am intentionally not linking to it because I don't want to come across as advertising for him. If you find the time you can check out his stream when it's live and see how incredibly effective the moderation is, and how positive and engaged the community is in spite of it's size. The WAN Show is awesome. but it can be be better, and it should be better, and this can be accomplished easily. As always, I am looking forward to the next show. LMG is awesome. Thank you for all who took the time to read this incredibly long opinion.

Hello everyone, I am a bit new here but I would like some part recommendations for a streaming pc that would capture and upload to twitch from my main gaming rig, as my main PC while under load is peaking at 95% CPU usage (while using my GPU to encode to help keep CPU under 100%). For reference or curiosity, please see this list for my current PC: -Antec 900 Black Steel Mid Tower Case -ASUS Z87-PLUS -EVGA NVidia GTX 780 SC w/ACX Cooler 3GB VRAM -Intel Hazwell Core i5 3450 3.1GHz -Noctua NH-U14S CPU Cooler -G.Skill Ripjaws 8GB (don't remember bus speed or model) -Samsung 850 Pro 250GB SSD -OCZ 750W Power Supply I currently have a EVGA GTX 470 SuperClocked spare and collecting dust, with a possibility of getting a lightly used second, on the cheap, if SLI could help. Link for GPU specs: https://www.evga.com/Products/Specs/GPU.aspx?pn=B797AF1C-C754-41FE-9E49-3594222BE9FE My questions are, if that GPU is sufficient for a streaming/capture PC and what else I would need. Pretty much, what is the least I can get away with to stay within a ~$200-$300 USD budget to upload 1080p content to Twitch at ~2,200 bitrate. Would I need a capture card? What are some good choices? Is SLI useful for a capture PC? Also, outside of the PC budget, are there keyboard/mouse switcher options that do not add input lag so I could use my main KB/M on the stream machine to negate the need of additional KB/M on my desk? I appreciate any information anyone can provide!

Pretty simple, rank em! Curious who likes what the best. I've done some searching, and haven't seen a thread like this in a while. Suggest more names if you want them to be added. Post your reasons if you so desire. Me: 1. Awesome Hardware - Because it's LONG, and I've always been a fan of Paul's calm disposition, and Kyle's jokes/humor, which is much less punny than Linus'. 2. The WAN Show - If it was longer, it'd be tied for my number one. I understand it's purpose, and I love Linus and Luke, but it's basically a discussion of the same forum posts we've seen throughout the week. I liked it much better when I didn't check the forum all the time. That's a personal thing though. 3. The TEK - Great source for your tinfoilhat news, nice insight into corporate practice/the government, etc.. I could listen to Wendell spew knowledge for hours. 4. Tech Talk - Has really gone downhill lately imo, they rarely talk about tech anymore, and if anyone questions them about it they get all pissy. Usually just turns into weightloss/drones/3Dprinting/biking talk. The constant fart sfx pushed me away. Jay just gets way too defensive about some stuff, not my cup of tea. 5. WASD - Not my cup of tea either, but just unprofessional and snarky imo. Can't say I'll miss it. **Also, I just went through the COC, I don't think it's against forum rules to talk about other channels, is it?

Darude, the artist behind the smash hit Sandstorm, has created a twitch channel for the purpose of streaming Sandstorm 24/7. Yup. That's it. And at the time of writing this, over 15,000 people are watching this. Watch live video from darude on www.twitch.tv Unfortunately I was unable to embed the stream in this post but click the above link to go to the stream. He has also recently uploaded a new song to his youtube channel that uses Sandstorm in it but is actually really good!

Sources: TechnoBuffalo.com Engadget.net Original Source: DailyDot.com "YouTube is reportedly gearing up to take on Twitch game streaming" - Engadget "YouTube taking on Twitch with new livestreaming service" - TechnoBuffalo YouTube has been under fire recently with their announcement of stricter enforcement of sponsership and product placement policies along with the recent launch of Vessel, which I'm sure everyone here should be familiar with by now. YouTube seems to be prepping to launch a new game streaming service to go head to head with Twitch. A huge number of YouTubers have been taking to Twitch to stream gaming and even non-gaming content, such as WAN Show. They often make videos and post them to YouTube to get their substantial audience there to go watch. A lot of Twitch streamers utilize YouTube to post the stream archives, montages and other content. I've personally heard a lot of people noting, "I stream on Twitch just because YouTube streaming/chat/delay is horrible." It seems very difficult to get the much desired sub-button on Twitch in order to monetize beyond the gracious donations from followers. Sponsorships from companies ranging from PC parts, console peripherals, gaming drinks, gaming glasses, etc... are also popular. YouTube partnering is much easier these days and as of now all you have to do is maintain good standing to be able to stream on YouTube. YouTube has recently tried to inject itself in the middle of direct creator-to-advertiser relationships to ensure they get their cut of any money generated via their platform YouTube has tried pushing a gaming-centric streaming service before, but it fell short and was abandoned my pretty much everyone in favor of Twitch. There were also a lot of talks of YouTube buying out Twitch and integrating it into the already expansive YT/Google ecosystem. But YouTube has over 1 billion users along with the internet clout and financial backing of Google. You can bet someone searching for LoL tournaments on Google will be directed to YouTube sponsored events before Twitch. However, Twitch is no slouch either. They've grown to become the premiere game streaming service in the world and are now owned by Amazon, which hosts pretty much the entire internet and also has quite a bit of money to throw around (Amazon Prime Membership including Twitch Turbo would be quite nice). Having two platforms to choose from should be a good thing for pretty much everyone involved. It means each will have to entice streamers, viewers and advertisers with better splits and features. Will either try to force streamers to stream exclusively on their platform? Will streamers be able to double dip and cast to both platforms at the same time and possibly double their revenue? There's a lot of questions. YouTube seems to be going the way of Vessel and pulling over a number of bigger and well established streamers and eSports organizations. They'll probably also get some of their larger YouTube stars that haven't been big into streaming to start on their platform. Of course only time will tell the tale. But it'll be interesting to see these two (really 4) massive entities going at it for game streaming supremacy. -SrgntBallistic

I want to start streaming and I'm wondering is my 4790K capable of streaming games while I play a high demanding game with no problems. I don't want to spend money on xSplit if I know I losing performance doing so? I still want my computer run smoothly. As long I can play games in 2K at 60+ FPS I'm happy. While I can still multitask while streaming smoothly

Hello all, I am trying to fix my father's office PC currently. When I press the power ON button, nothing happens unless I turn off the power supply. When I turn off the PSU and turn it back on, the fans spin for about 1 second before going off. I believe these fans are connected to the PSU, as the CPU and front fan (both connected to the mobo) dont spin. Another item to note: no LED's come up on the motherboard, but the card reader does light up (it is powered by the PSU). so i was looking into better my streaming and was wondering if using quick sync feature that i just found out about last night would be a benefit at all over x264. also i enabled the feature and followed Lukes guide that i found on the youtubes from a year ago, im using 2 monitors so once i enabled the IGPU its detected as a 3rd and there's a clone of my mouse in the top left corner of my Main monitor. Any help at all for OBS would be great. note: there's a post on here i cant remember from who, who has a crazy long detailed post about OBS and i read through that a little and that's where i seen about quick sync feature
