specs : ----------------------------------------------- issue description: (10:16:52 PM on 8/31/2023)after usual usage had shut down pc as usual via windows , power supply not turned off , tried to turn on after few hours but didn't respond, fans not spinning - no LED indicator- nothing. tried switching on-off power supply & running again but same results- no response, changed power supply cable to new one and again turning on - no response again. decides to unplug every thing & clean dust (even switched power button pin with restart button on mother board just to be sure )plugging back on trying to turn on again but still no response. so unplugs all cords. thinking PSU is gone bad(faulty) next day plugs in all just to see if anything changed voila it turns on fine but the motherboard LED indicator is on (not able to figure what the light was representing even after checking manual) (after restart the light has turned off) checked windows logs for error messages found 3 messages 1-Windows failed fast startup with error status 0xC00000D4. ( source - kernel boot) 2-The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly ( source - kernel boot) 3-The previous system shutdown at 10:16:52 PM on 8/31/2023 was unexpected. (source - Eventlog) now writing this post here as i'm afraid what if it doesn't start again after i shut down also trying to figure what went wrong , why it stopped working all of sudden help me solve this

Pc randomly won't turn on out of the blue. happens on average once every 3-4 weeks. It looks as if the PSU is broken as there is no power and a high pitch coil whine can be heard. the power switch isn't faulty as I still can't start it by shorting or using the reset switch on the power switch pins. I usually unplug everything from my pc and grab the power cable and move to the living room and give it a clean. I have done this with the power cable in and PSU turned on and without the power cable plugged in. Anyway, after about 5-10 mins I press the on button and it boots up as if nothing happened. This time however nothing happened for 18 hours. I know it's not a faulty PSU( EVGA 650 W 80+gold) as I have had 2 different ones ( the other one being a Thermaltake smart bx1 80+bronze ) that have made a similar coil whine. The Coil whine sound stops when I unplug the 24pin mobo connector and starts again as soon as I plug it in. My pc is running again now but I need to sort this issue out. I believe I'm going to need a new mobo as the only cheapish thing left in my build is the mobo and along with the whine caused by the 24-pin. but I'm not sure. My Specs are : CPU: R5 3600 RAM: 32gb Thermaltake tough ram z-one MOBO: Gigabyte b450m - ds3h GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3070 PSU:Evga supernova 650 GA 80+gold SSD: crucial mx500 500gb m.2 SSD: wd blue 1tb HDD: wd blue 2tb

Specs: MB: ASUS TUF GAMING B560 PLUS-WIFI CPU: i5-11600K GPU: 4070 RAM: CORSAIR VENGEANCE 3200MHZ 4x8 PSU: SEASONIC 850W FOCUS PLUS GOLD Some background: I've put in the new MB/CPU combo in over 2 years ago and that's when the issue started. Since I have changed/added a new gpu, more RAM, drives, cooler, new DP cable, but nothing seemed to fix the issue. This only happens sometimes and once the PC boots up, there is absolutely 0 issues, no crashes, no bluescreens, no freezing, it works perfect. When the boot fails and this only happens sometimes, here are the things that I've noticed happen: 1) Orange LED is stuck on the motherboard and it won't post until I force restart 2) Orange LED disappear but then fans start spinning at 100% (including gpu+cpu+casefans) 3) Orange LED disappears and white light turns on but the PC won't boot There is no pattern or order in which these happen, it's all random. Most of the time the issue occurs is when I restart the PC to finalize an update, on the rare occasion when I turn the PC on. The PSU is coming to its age around 5 years however with the previous MB/CPU, i never had any issues. Some things I've tried: 1) Reinstalled windows from 10 to 11 (fresh install). 2) Re-pasted and re-seated my CPU. 3) Turned off hibernation mode. 4) Updated BIOS to current latest version 2001. 5) Installed latest drivers from asus' website. Any advice appreciated.

Hello guys/gals I've tried searching but was not able to find anything regarding my issue. Checked google, LTT, reddit and I just cant seem to find anything. Maybe someone here can point me to a direction or a solution. So here it goes. My issue is I have to power cycle my pc "about 80% of the time" every time before I can boot it. I don't even get a post, error code, message, nothing. The keyboard and mice light up as they are rgb to indicate they have power but that's it. When that happens I need to flick the power switch on the PSU to cut all power wait 3secs and flick it again, after that it turns on with no problem. However this has been happening since I built it, and I've built multiple one and never had an issue. So I'm not sure if this is a falling component or something that is just not right, or if it's the BIOS all together or more then that. I thought it as PSU, so I bought a new one and still same concern. I have moved all components to new tower case so all the cables have been reseated and reinstalled the components such as RAM, fans, GPU, PSU. Have not reinstalled the CPU as they requires extra work and effort as I just moved the mobo with cpu and cooler to new case. I know this is strange I've been battling this issue since the beginning. I always hoped Linus crew will make a video on how to diagnose a problem such as this or to give users a direction but never happen. ( P.S: would be a great video in my opinion as these things do happen and would be a great way to tell others what to start looking for or how to look into it or self diagnose ) I've read that it could be BIOS or even mobo its self. However I still come down to my same conclusion on why is it that after a cycle the Pc turns on after but, if I don't cycle the PSU it just won't boot or even power. I can try and turn it on but I don't get anything. I just lights up my keyboard and mice but that is all. And if I keep powering pc it won't do anything. I have to cycle it to power it on. I've have not reset CMOS, only because I have my fans programmed in bios and XMP profile which isn't a big deal but fans were quiet annoying to set to my liking were it can keep it cool and noise level low to my surroundings. My system is: Intel I7, 10700k ( 10th gen 5.1hz ) ARTIC Freezer 34 eSports DUO MSI MAG Z590 Torpedo Gaming Motherboard Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 XC3 - 10GB Samsung 870 EVO 500GB Samsung 970 EVO plus nvme SSD 2TB Cooler Master MWE Gold 850 V2 If there is any more information please let me know and lets see if we can sole this together because I just can't seem to find the solution. Thanks in advance.

First things first: With remotely I mean from within the same building, not from a completly different town or country. Wake on LAN isn't an option. I want to turn my PC on, not just wake it up from sleep, which is why WOL isn't an option. I have my PC in a different room and all of my peripherals are connected via Thunderbolt 3. Very similar to what Linus did with his and his wife's PC. Sadly it doesn't seem possible to power my PC on with my Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 dock. Silverstone sells a kit for ~25€ to do exactly what I am looking for, but I'm not too much of a fan of the included remote. I could probably hack something together to integrate a button into my desk or something, but was wondering if someone has a better idea. I'm open to basically anything. Just want to get some ideas flowing here The kit that Silverstone sells:

I have a HP Pavilion a6460, it was working great, I got it for 50euros, some days later, my power button led didn't work for some reason, after some months, the PSU decided to not turn on at all, so I bought two PSU's for $5, one was a Bestech 300w and a shitty Frontier 500w, which by the way, did not use that, it worked for about a day, then one day it decided to turn on and off, sometimes I actually boot on Windows, but then shuts down randomly. My dad then bought me a shitty psu which I told him not to since it can only do 220w max, but he thought that it would work (I feel like a spoiled brat now), same thing actually happened! I don't know what can be the problem, my assumptions are probably the circuit of the MOBO died or it's the PSU all along, I will try cleaning CMOS and PWD..... One thing I know is that, when my monitor is turned off, it actually does not shutdown, but then when I turn it on, then it shuts down and turns on repeteadly. Here are specs btw: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 4GB Ram DDR2 Nvidia Geforce 8500GT 300w Bestech PSU

Should I turn on Core Performance Boost for my Ryzen 9 5900X? I play light games like Roblox and Krunker. (Will get Minecraft soon.) Temps are normal at around 50-60c. Idk fps for Krunker, but for Roblox it depends. Some game I get 200-300 fps and some I get 500-600. I also do light photoshop for my friends YouTube channel and for my Roblox game. I have a Corsair H150i AIO, so yeah. I want to, but I need confirmation first.

Just built a pc, and when I went to turn it on, the LEDs in the fans and the fans started to turn on for a split second before turning off again. This is something I've never had happen to me before, and I am not sure the cause of. 've double checked and triple checked to make sure the power connectors and the front panel connectors are in place, and they are in fine. I'm not too sure where to go next, the case I'm using is pretty old so maybe its a problem with the fpc's.

SOLVED: I succesfully turned it on with ctrl+esc and then the connecting my adapter. When I tried to turn it off with the button it didn't work, so the button is broken. I'm experiencing a problem with my Dell laptop. If i push the power button it doesn't react at all, it just stays off, I don't hear anything the power light is off and the screen is completely black. The only thing my laptop reacts to is when I charge the laptop, the light will go on then, but i still can't turn it on. I didn't damage my laptop or anything, it just suddenly can't turn on anymore. I already tried this method to try and turn on my laptop, it didn't work. Does anyone know what I have to do now to get my laptop running again.

Hey all! So my friend recently said that his keyboard on this laptop wasn't working for a while now and he said he might've dropped it. So the lights on the keyboard have stopped along with the keyboard function itself he was managing with the touch keyboard... I said it might be a loose cable, so I found the loose keyboard cable and firmly reattached it to the motherboard. After having done that I secured all the components back to the laptop. Then I tried powering on the laptop with 70% charge and even with the charger plugged in.. Then the laptop power led would turn on for a split second and the keyboard lights flashed for the first time in a while (meaning the keyboard is working again) and the laptop just wouldn't turn on after. I have tried using the reset button to the side after that then powering it on the same would happen. I also tried removing the battery and powering off just from the charger but still no result. Please Help!!!!

Hello everyone, the problem is that my friend saw Linus' video on the old two cpu xeon gaming PC and thought of doing the same. Now, the motherboard he bought is a Dell Poweredge 2900 II (ym158), and he (nor I) have any idea on how to turn it on. Does anyone know what pins have to be jumped, and if something particular is needed? Thank you for your support, EMENCII

Hello, I have been using an EVGA GTX 960 since may of 2015 and my PC always worked fine. Today, while I was using my PC, it stopped working, everything turned off, except the lights. When I tried turning it off using the button it didn't worked even when holding it down for 20 seconds and I unplugged it. Now, when hte GPU is intalled and I tried to boot it up, the light flahes for half a second and then nothing else happens afterwards if it is not unplugged and pluged again. When the GPU is not installed, the computer works fine. I will try to test my card in another build this week I currently have... OS - Windows 10 CPU- AMD a-10 5700 APU GPU - GTX 960 PSU - XFX TS 550w MOBO - MSI MS-7778 (Jasmine)

Hey guys, I'd like to know what just happened here. I have put in a new cpu and updated BIOS before that and now my computer turned off and on by itself a few times until I turned off the power button on back. Can anyone tell me what just happened? Hello! I just built my first system, all new parts, but it doesn't do anything when I press the power button. The system is not complete, graphics card hasn't arrived yet, but here's the parts list: CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 Mobo: Asus Prime X470 pro RAM: G.Skill Trident-Z Royal 3000Mhz cl16 2x8GB Storage: Kingston a2000 1TB m.2 nvme ssd PSU: Corsair RM 650x Case: Lian-Li Lancool 2 I just wanted to testboot the parts that I already have, because there are some parts that are closing in on their 1 month after purchase. The motherboard is sure getting power, because the rgb lights up as soon as I flip on the psu. I tried reconnecting the powerswitch connector every way, also tried shorting out the pins, didn't work. Reconnected the power cables, reseated the ram sticks, didn't work. As a last resort I pulled the graphics card from my flatmates pc and put it in my rig, still didn't work. Might be worth to note that the mobo was an OEM part. I have three possibilities in mind: 1. The mobo has a case of DOA 2. maybethe cmos battery is dead. 3. The board might have been sitting in the sellers storage since before the bios updates, so the bios might not have been flashed to support ryzen 3000 series (though i don't know if that could cause a no power on). Please, help me out!

So I have a logitech z323 subwoofer. It has a 9 pin vga as the receiving end of the power switch for the speaker which has the power switch on it. Does anyone know what the positives and negatives are on vga 9 pin so I can short the pins and make the subwoofer stay on permanently?

Hello everybody hope you're all having a good day!. lately I've been experiencing problems with my 1 year old setup (something around that idk). I'm running windows 10. Specs: PSU: Seasonic 850w psu 80+ gold certified (Probably what's causing the problems) Motherboard: Asus x370 pro CPU: Ryzen 1700x @Stock speeds GPU: Gtx 1080 Windforce (didn't know that they had 2 models :()) HDD: Western digital black 1tb Ram: 1x16gb corsair vengeance 3000Mhz @Stock Bios version 3306 if I'm not mistaking gonna check and update the post if I'm wrong. The pc is NOT overheating the highest temp my cpu ever reached was like 36-40. it's running under 36 degrees most of the time. My Problem: I pasted it from what I wrote in a discord chat. Too lazy to write about my problem again!. My PC won't shutdown at times for example today I was going to hang out with friends and I tried shutting down my pc like 2 or 3 times but when I came back in the room it was on again so I turned it off closed the door I was out for like 2 hours and when I came back my pc was on again after that I shut it down again and it was just stuck on a black screen with the fans and leds running.... and now it's really bothering me because I was just laying on my bed my pc was on and it just restarted by itself for no reason at all. Thank you. Have a nice day !!.

I have had an Asus VN289H monitor for 2 or 3 years. It always worked fine. But as soon as i got it, i realized the power button did not always work on the frist try. Although, any regular press would turn the monitor on (this is why I think it is not a button issue). So I let the monitor on during most of the time i had it and only closed it when i was away for a while. I recently started turning it off again because I was unplugging it often and now it won't turn on. Usualy, I would just unplug it, plug it back and then open it. But now, none of my tricks work. the issue is not related to my pc. If it was, i would get a no signal screen (right?). Do you guys have any other idea what it could be and how to fix it? Thank you, Specs: Monitor: Asus VN289H Gpu: 2x sli Asus gtx 970 strix Mobo: Asus maximus 7 formula Cpu: i7 4790k Ram: G-Skill Trident X DDR3 PSU: Cooler Master M2 Silent Pro 1000w SSD: Samsung 840 evo 500gb HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2Tb

Hello m, I've been having trouble turning on my PC. I took it to a computer guy and left it there for about two hours because he needed to re-build the pc because he didn't know what the problem was, when I came back, the PC was turned on and everything seemed fine, he told me that he yet doesn't know what caused this but that when he re-conected everything, it turned on, he said he even tried with another power supply and it still wasn't turning, he said my PSU was fine using a tester, when I brought the PC home, I was holding it so nothing drastically moves and makes my PC unable to turn on. When I was finally home, I connected the power cable to the PSU and the switch on ON, and nothing turned on, I tried connecting the PC on different power outlets on my house but it still wouldn't turn on, I tried using 3 different power cables but still not signal of power, BUT I connected my USB mouse and LED of the Mouse turned on. So I don't know what is wrong please help!

Hello m, I've been having trouble turning on my PC. I thought there was something wrong with the Audio Panel and I saw that in the manual it says that I need a PWRBTN# cable? Well I don't have it, I only have PLED+, PLED-, HDLED, and POWER SW, where do I put the POWER SW button?

So...a few weeks ago my pc didn't turn on, I tried to turn it on by unplugging the psu from the power outlet, reinstalling the gpu, and after a few tries it worked. Today I left my pc on for about 30 minutes came back and it was off, tried to turn it on but only the gpu leds and fans were working, my mouse light was white (it is red when my pc is on) and my keyboard's lights wouldnt turn on (the same symptoms as the time before). I tried to do the same thing as the other time but no results. I'm guessing it might be a psu or problem. According to my motherboard, all the components work fine but my cpu wont work and the cooler fan wont spin. Here's a video which might show you what I'm talking about. specs: CPU: i7 6700 Motherboard: Asus z170i pro gaming Ram: Kingston Fury DDR4 2133mhz 16gb GPU: MSI gtx 960 4G Storage: Samsung 850 evo PSU: Silverston sx500 lg

Hello all, I am trying to fix my father's office PC currently. When I press the power ON button, nothing happens unless I turn off the power supply. When I turn off the PSU and turn it back on, the fans spin for about 1 second before going off. I believe these fans are connected to the PSU, as the CPU and front fan (both connected to the mobo) dont spin. Another item to note: no LED's come up on the motherboard, but the card reader does light up (it is powered by the PSU).
