So I'm moving country beginning next month and I need to bring my computer and monitor with me. The flight is only 2.5 Hours long and it's a low cost airline called "Ryanair" and I was wondering has anyone every heard about booking a seat just to put my computer there? The case is a Cooler Master N200 which is a mATX case and is not massively big. So yeah, any opinions about this, please do share! Thanks

Hi, So next summer I am going to be moving and switching jobs. The new job will require me to reloacte every 1.5 - 3 months and I will need my computer with me at all times. I will be selling my current computer right before I move, just so I don't have to bring it with me. My current situation is that I'm using a Hackintosh. I do own a Macbook Pro as well, and I do prefer the OS to Windows (although I do have a second OS drive with Windows 8.1 for gaming, which also gets a lot of use). I've found that for the software I use (namely Avid software like Pro Tools and all the necessary drivers for the current audio gear I own) OS X runs better. However a Hackintosh is not without problems... It took me a LONG time to set up and still doesn't run *perfectly*, although it is stable at the moment. This has presented me with a few options. I can either: _______________________________ A) Save up lots and buy a Mac Pro (trashcan style). I would be looking at at least the 8 core version and would like 64GB of RAM, although I would likely buy this third party as it's much cheaper that way. I would also get the dual D700 GPU, so that I can have a top gaming experience in Windows 8.1/10 (boot camp), although this is subject to drivers... I've seen lots of people saying it works and some saying it really doesn't... B) Get the same Mac Pro but with the least expensive GPU and build a Windows rig on the side. Likely an ITX, very compact rig with something like a 980ti C) Build an X99 Hackintosh based on the 5960X. This way I would be able to choose my GPU, but then I would be stuck with the same potential issues I have now, that it could just decide to give up on me if some settings aren't right... _______________________________ Now, considering I'll be travelling a lot (I have an Impala, '03) I won't be able to go for anything huge, which is why the Mac Pro really shines, because it's so tiny for all the power it packs. Also the stability of running OSX on a computer built for it is priceless. BUT, it's also very expensive and the lack of any additional internal storage is very annoying as i'll have to carry round a few external drives too, or build a NAS which is even more cost... Option B is probably the option I would go for if money was no object. I could have the best of both worlds, wouldn't have to worry about compatibility and it wouldn't take up too much space (something like a Corsair 250D or even smaller). Building a Hackintosh could be really good. I was thinking of possibly buying a rackmount flight case (so, extra protection in the car) and if I were to use a 4U chassis in an 8U flight case, I could keep my other audio gear in the same flight case and have it permanently linked up. All I would need to do when I get out the car is plug it into power and monitors. This is also more cost effective (although it would still be expensive), but it then comes with the worry, time and effort of putting together a Hackintosh... I was looking to potentially water cool as well (if I go for option C, which would come out kind of like Linus' personal rig in the near future), but how would this hold up on the road? Is that just a really bad idea? I feel like that's another benefit of the Mac Pro. I would have a flight case for that too (basically a hard box with foam inside, they only cost about $150) but I feel like that would be a lot better on the road.... Any thoughts on this are helpful. Basically I want something that will run cool and fast (hence why I don't just use my laptop with a few monitors), work well, game well, be roadworthy and also compact. This is still about 9-10 months off, but I'd like to have a plan as soon as possible, even if I pick parts when I'm out there. Thanks!

Hello everyone Ok to the point I need to build a portable rig that I could take with me on planes and travels. Laptops are nice but my current laptop (an old Asus v3 771g) is starting to feel the strain and frankly rendering on it has been a hassle (over heating issues, dual graphics card issues, brake downs, etc). I'm looking to split the work between a Surface Pro 4 for sculpting and basic 3d modelling, then a rendering/gaming rig I could leave in my apartment that I could send the work to and render. I haven't kept up too well with what is a good mix for rendering and gaming so any help in figuring out what I should be looking to save up for would be a great help. Most of my work is done with Blender/Zbrush using Cycles and Keyshot to get the shots complete. Main focus is in hair/fur/particles so its got to have that computing grunt to handle those sorts of renders. But most importantly I could find myself travelling every 6 months or so around Asia so its got to be sturdy enough to handle multiple trips. Plus if possible water cooling because most of these countries do not have temperatures that dip below boiling an egg. Anyway if there's anyone whose had this issue and got some advice on how to solve it Id be very grateful. Regards BRP P.s. If Linus could possibly do a stress test on gpus and cpus for rendering on the show that would be awesome. Blender comes with some great tests that could help build up a idea for those of us looking to be more productive then just game. p.p.s UK based but I can get my parts from all over the world, budget would be around the £1000 mark.

Hey Guys, I listen to music a lot and I want to upgrade from some standard Phillips earbuds to some nice cans. I listen to Progressive Metal bands like The Contortionist, CHON and The Helix Nebula. Occasionally I listen to heavier Djent bands like Periphery, Animals as Leaders and Volumes. Lastly I like to indulge in some Metalcore like Dead by April, Escape the Fate and The Fall of Troy. I want an over-ear headphone with nice sound isolation and not too much sound bleed so I can listen to music loud on the bus and so that I can hear music over the sound of my drums. They need to sound great without an amp (will be powered by my smartphone). Right now I'm looking at the Audio Technica ATH M50X's as they are known to sound great with any genre of music. Price range is $200-250 NZD. The M50X's are $230~. Any recomendations for over-ear headphones that sound great listening to Progressive Metal without an amp and are good for travel (buses), please leave the below =) Thanks!

Hello all, I am a complete newbie here and not much of a techie. I've replaced some RAM and a CPU or two back in the 90s but that is about it. I am here looking for any recommendations for rugged and or durable technology. I work as teacher internationally and I love to travel, over ten countries and counting. I found many of the linus tech tips videos highly informative and I'm hoping maybe the community here will have some recommendations for more durable technology. I had a major scare with my toshiba laptop (it would prob be dead if I hadn't swapped out the HD for an SSD before I got here) here in Mongolia, and I'd like to find some more durable stuff. Thank you for your time guys.

I need an mATX case that can fit into a suitcase. it doesn't need to be carry on necessarily just as long as it can fit into a standard size suitcase. I've been looking at the "Bitfenix Prodigy M".

have some family from Portugal coming to stay with me in the U.S. and I’m going to be building them a gaming rig while they're here. We're buying some new parts and mixing them with some old parts I have laying around and wanted to see what you guys think of the build before we spend the money. We have about a $750 limit at the most AND more importantly they have to be able to take it back to Portugal witch means it has to be able to travel on a plane. IMPORTANT QUESTION!!! If the Computer does end up having to be check that means it'll be in an pressurized part of the plane. Could that make the H60 Burst? And if not what about it freezing?

I am currently on the market for a sturdy camera to be used in most weather types while on my upcoming trip to Japan. I intend to use it to document my daily adventures, be it in the sunlight of the day or the neon signs at night. If it's okay with you, I'd like to just list off my needs, as my "reddiquette" is lacking quite considerably. -convenient form factor (no larger than a reasonably "large" DSLR) -1080p uncompressed @ 30fps (or better, if that's even a thing at this price point) -wide field of view for "glam footage" -option for me to use my own 3.5mm or USB microphone Thank you to anyone who can (or at least tries to) help me in this endeavor.

Hey guys, I'm starting college in ten days and I am on the go quite a bit of the time, but right now all I have for carrying around my books and electronics is a drawstring mesh bag. I know it's not the best option, but it's the only one i have at the moment and it's better than holding it in your hand when you walk around. I want something big enough to hold 2-3 textbooks, my laptop (13 inch MacBook Air- yeah, I know it's an Apple but I got it cheap), a camera and some other odds and ends with a bit of room to spare. Most importantly, it should protect my laptop in case the bag gets bonked. That said, it shouldn't be super clunky and huge- I'm not backpacking through Europe. I'm a bigger guy, though, so please pick something with enough width between the straps that it's comfortable to haul about campus or on a plane. I was leaning more toward a Swissgear backpack because they're about the size I'm looking for plus they don't look dorky as hell. I hope you guys can help me out

What are some good cases that you could bring onto an airplane? The maximum dimensions for a carry-on bag are 9 inches x 14 inches x 22 inches (22 cm x 35 cm x 56 cm), including handles and wheels so the case must be smaller than this! Link to dimensions: http://www.united.com/CMS/en-US/travel/Pages/BaggageCarry-On.aspx?Mobile=1 Would be nice if the case fit all graphics cards **Don't just say: "any mini atx case will fit" - because they don't! (Like Obsidion 250D) **KEY: d- depth [side panel to side panel], h - height [from stands to the top], w - width [front panel to back] ** Cases that I found to fit: - Zalman ZM-T2 Plus [d - 189 x h - 427.5 x w - 364mm] http://www.zalman.com/global/product/Product_Read.php?Idx=865 - Cooler Master Elite 130 [d - 398.5 x h - 207.4 x w - 240 mm] <- to make the case fit you put it front panel to the bottom of the bag - Silverstone Lite Sugo [d- 276 x h - 176 x w - 222 mm] Any other cases?

I made a topic a few weeks ago asking if it was possible to downsize a PC without losing a bunch of my PC parts. Now that i know i can, i need some help figuring out which parts i will need to replace and what case(s) are the best choice. First off, let me state that this PC is mostly for Autodesk Maya Photoshop, UDK and GMS, but with the occassional gaming session too. I also need to down size because of travel. Travelling 12 hours via bus across the province to get to college/come home is a huge pain in the ass when they won't let you take more then 2 "suitcases" onboard without paying like.. $150 or some bullshit and the only carry-on they'll except is like a small bag/bookbag. Currently, i have: CPU: I7-2600k (LGA1155) Motherboard: Asus P8Z68 Pro-V Gen3 (i know i'll have to replace this) RAM: 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 Corsiar Vegance @ 1600MHz GPU: EVGA GTX 480 Case: Corsair Vegance C70 (i know i'll have to replace this) PSU: OCZ ZX 1000w gold cerified (link) Storage: one 128GB SSD & two 1TB 7200RPM HDD (even though this barely matters, i added it so people don't suggest removing hard drive cages) Cooling/Fans/etc: Corsair H100i + a bunch of 120mm Corsair fans Now that i've given everyone an idea of what i have, here's the problem; I know my CPU, GPU, HDD/SSD's and fans will fit in a smaller case, however i do not know if my power supply will (fairly big) and i'm not sure if the smaller motherboards have 4 slots for RAM (as i've only ever built ATX PCs). Another big issue i'm having is picking out a case that will work fine with my H100i (as it's dual rad). I don't want to get a PC case that can't fit my GTX 480 because i needed the room for an H100i either. I've (kinda) narrowed down to about 2 cases (both corsair which is funny), the 250D mini-atx case or the 240 HAF micro-atx case and both will work with my long-ass 480 (9.5 inchs/dual-slot). So... i need some feedback. I plan on selling most of my PC parts i don't need either online or via my local classifieds in order to basically fund most of my new parts, but the main problem: i just don't know exactly what will work for me and that's where you guys come in.

So here's the deal, I'm expecting to get some money whilst traveling and have been looking at two particular items to purchase. The HP stream 7 and new Pebble time smartwatch. The tablet is needed for use when I don't want to carry around my laptop. This is handy because the laptop is always hooked up at my desk and its quite a hastle unplugging cables. The pebble is needed as an upgrade to the classic pebble I already own. We see some huge changes in this new iteration of the watch. I can grab the HP tablet right away for 70$ or save up 200$ for the Pebble time.

Wide-Semi Wide Angle Lenses for Nikon
Equilibrium_FOOL posted a topic in Photography and Videography
I currently own a Nikon D5200 APS-C (DX) DSLR camera, and I was wondering what the best Wide angle zoom/prime lens would be. The lens would be used for: night photography/astrophotography, landscapes, cityscapes, video, and some wildlife. Lens should be around $1000CAD, although I can go as high as $1500CAD. I am also debating whether or not to upgrade to full frame (FX), or stick with the crop sensor (DX). Any ideas or opinions are welcome. -
Hey guys and gals! I am in need of a pretty solid gaming laptop Now I know that people will say to build a PC, but I already have!!! I just travel a lot for work and I can't bring a desktop PC 99% of the time.It needs to be thin and fairly light, I can bring a laptop cooling pad if necessary for extra cooling. It needs to be relatively "future proof" for at least 3-4 years hopefully the latter or more. It needs to be at least i7 4710HQ 16 gb RAM 1 tb HDD GTX 970m 6gb at least 15.6 in diagonal screen but no more than 17 in 1080p 60hz and it would be nice to have an SSD OS drive Needs to have decent battery life, at least 3 hrs while web browsing I have been looking at these laptops Aorus X7 pro: MSI GS60 Ghost Pro-064: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152686 The x7 pro is about the max of my budget, but I would like it to be in the under $2000 range. I can splurge to get the x7 pro or a laptop of equal or lesser price if necessary. Any other Recommendations for laptops?
