Hello all, long time lurker here. I'm kind of new to posting here so I hope I'm in the right place. I just finished my associates degree and am transferring to a four year university to finish my degree. So it's time to look for a laptop, I'm not trying to bring my desktop with me... Originally I decided to get a Razer blade 15 advanced (9750h, 16gb, rtx 2070 maxQ, 240hz). But I've been having second thoughts, it's a good chunk of money and I want to make sure I get what I need/want. So I'm between four at the moment: 1) Razer Blade 15 advanced (i7 9750h, 16gb, rtx 2070 maxQ, 240hz). 2) Razer Blade 15 advanced (i7 9750h, 16gb, rtx 2060, 144hz). 3) Asus Zephyrus S Thin (i7 9750h, 16gb, rtx 2070, 240hz). 4) Msi Gs65 Stealth (i7 9750h, 32gb, rtx 2070 maxQ, 240hz). Extra, 5) Dell Xps 15 (i7 9750h, 16gb, GTX 1650, 4k). I'm not really sure what I want to do. I need something for doing school work and that I can take to and from class. But I want to be able to play some games in my free time as well. I do photographe and some light video work so I need something that can handle some editing. My major is Computer Engineer so I don't need anything to powerful for that. As far as games I play; city builders, open world, fps, and some esports games... ie; Skyrim, cities skylines, Ghost recon wildlands, frostpunk, counter strike, etc... I don't need 4k or 240hz when it comes to it but it seems thats how they come. I'm was just kind of thinking that the 2070 is alittle overkill. I don't want something that constantly overheats. Any help is much appreciated!

Hey all! So I'm on my way to a land party in central Europe by train. I got my monitor packed away in it's original packaging. And I started thinking about other ways I could travel with my setup. Are there any travel monitors or monitors that can be easily packed in a large suitecase so I could fly with it? Doesn't need to be an actual travel monitor with built i n batteries n shit. Just something I could actually bring in a suitcase. (And obviously play games on it so hopefully 144hz+ and not 500ms response time) I'm probably not the first that has wanted to travel with my monitor so please tell me your experiences. Thank you

Hi, I am looking to buy a monitor case (something like Gator Cases Small Padded LCD Transport Bag) along with a monitor (21" to 24") which would fit in the case. Based on what I am seeing, for the most part, the bag is made to fit the monitor without the stand, although it might fit if I can find a monitor with a compact (minimalist) stand. I might be able to get away with this setup IF the stand can be packed flat or if I can get a third party stand which packs flat that would mount on a VESA. Does anyone know of any monitor that comes with a flat or minimalist stand (I am willing to sacrifice the height adjustment option)? Ideally I would not want to spend more than $200 for the monitor alone. Thank you in advance.

I'm trying to find a travel case for the Ducky Mecha mini that fits the keyboard well and provides a good amount of protection. I've been looking around but so far have not seen anything that would particularly work. Anyone have any good recommendations for a 60% mechanical keyboard? Thanks!

Hi, I'm looking to buy a gaming laptop, I travel a fair amount for work and need something I can take with me. I live and work in the US for prices/availability I'm looking to spend up to 3000$ but less is always better, screen size can be 15-17in and would prefer it not to be a 10lb brick, but if that's the best laptop I'll deal with it I'm not particularly worried about battery life as it's mostly going to be plugged in at hotel rooms, I'm more so looking for performance, with a good display. I play a mix of fps/moba/strategy/action games so 144hz would be nice as well, I can upgrade it with more RAM and SSD myself if it saves me anything

As per the title, looking for a mechanical keyboard thats compact that I can travel to LAN parties with, and put in my carry on for plane trips with my Ghost S1 case. I liked the look and design of the Vortex Race 3 Aluminium, but looks like they are no longer in production and sold out everywhere. Can anyone recommend something similar? Will be paired with a corsair M65 pro mouse in white.

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone on here has any experience with transporting long Ethernet cables that constantly need to be used? My friends and I have to Discord in some of our D&D members, so I usually run a 100ft Cat6 flat cable to the router of whoever's house we meet at that day. Unfortunately, the cable tangles too much even when I pack it with care. Anyone know of a way to reliably roll it up for constant use and travel? I like the idea of a retractable reel, but I can only find garden hose sized reels, and I'd rather not purchase a brand new pre-retractable cable.

I am planning on making a super compact gaming pc in an insanely small itx chassis. Is this a good idea for traveling on a plane in the U.S. or should I just buy a gaming laptop? (the whole pc setup including peripherals, small monitor, and gaming PC itself would be going into a backpack.)

Hello, I'm looking for a "compact" camera like the ,, Fujifilm XT100,, for about 1000€ (preferably with a second lense for pictures in the distance). I'm new to photography and I'm not planning on using a camera stand. In case it matters, I'm going to South Africa (around October - December) Thanks for the help

Hi Everyone, I have a question about power in general and I thought this power supplies section might be able to assist. I have a Cheero Energy Plus 12000 mAh battery pack that's capable of input DC 5V/1.6A. I'm looking at this wall charger: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07JLV4SW5/?coliid=I2LW9LTZIP7AVJ&colid=37V3ATZ8FPRCC&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it it shows it can charge via USB with 2A, and has a smart charge port (no idea) at 2.4A. Will this work with my battery bank then or will my battery bank simply blow the fuse? Thanks!

I would like to hear about your experience with backing up\offloading footage to external storage without a laptop while traveling. Which hardware did you use and did you regret not bringing the laptop after all? M.2 form factor is very convenient for the traveler, get proper enclosure and you've got yourself a flash stick on steroids. Thoughts?

I'm moving out! So I'm traveling by train... It's a 18 hour journey, I was wondering how should I pack my PC. I need suggestions to pack and travel it along safely. As of now I'm thinking of removing RAM,GPU,PSU and HDD from the cabinet and keep the motherboard, Processor and SSD inside the case. I have all the original boxes and ample amount of bubblewrap. The spec of the PC which needs to be carried: Ryzen 5 3600 Gigabyte A320M-H 8GB Corsair Vengeance 3000Mhz Zotac Gaming 1660 Super Twin(not the AMP) 1 TB HDD 240 GB SSD Corsair VS550 Antec NX200

So I'm relatively new to the forums, but I wanted to ask if anyone here travels for business? If you do, where do you travel to and what are your favorite spots to visit, eat, shop, meet people, or drink? Currently (at the time of this writing) I'm traveling for work and I'm in Taichung, Taiwan. I thought it would be interesting to find out if anyone has any recommendations of spots they've personally been to that I could visit, but figured maybe others could benefit from hearing about places elsewhere too. So, if you've traveled abroad and have any recommendations, leave a message. It would probably be best to name the city and country, along with as much detail about the place you have or can remember. Also, I know that some countries have a tendency to change rapidly (I hear restaurants in Taiwan do this), so let us know when it was that you last visited that place. Feel free to add any more info that you can or a cool story about your trip.

Hello, new to the forums and desperate for help. I have a MSI ge73 laptop I purchased in Canada that I've been using since April this year and I brought it with me to the Philippines. Recently my laptop stopped charging while I was using it and I only noticed when it was under 10%; as I moved my hand on the case to check if it's plugged in I noticed a vibrating feeling that I'm guessing is some of the electricity running through the metal case. Now I can't work on my projects and I'm stuck with a laptop that won't charge or show any signs of functioning. The only thing I can notice is the static feeling from touching the case while it's plugged in. I don't see any lights or hear any sounds when I try to turn it on. I've emailed MSI support but I've yet to get a response. Laptop is: MSI ge73 7RF Raider Windows 10

Hi! I plan to go on a 7 hour long road trip on a Bus from a city to another. I plan to do this every 3 months. Since I can get a single ticket for myself, I can only put the computer case in front of my seat, vertically. (The storage section of the Bus is not an option as I am afraid it would slide in it and bump into other stuff...) I was wondering about what I can do to minimiz ethe risk of damaging my components? I have a Hyper Evo 212 cooler and a GTX 1070 ti MSI Duke at around 31 cm (10 inch+), installed on a miniITX board. I was thinking of removing the GPU.. But since I'll be doing it every 2-3 months, I was afraid of wearing out the GPU and Board contact pins in a year or two... (I have read that I can only remove and insert the Card like 50 times before it wears out and dies) Appreciate any suggestions!

Hey So just recently I've entered a line of work that currently is requiring me to spend extended periods of time in various locations all around the UK (where I'm from). I typically spend up to 6 months in a particular city away from home during the week in a hotel and travel back home for the weekend. I'm starting to find I have little time to game over the weekend and my evenings during the week in a hotel are spent with very little to do. I'd like to be able to find the best way to work whilst I'm away but I already have a work laptop I have to carry when I travel so I'd rather not fork out for an expensive, heavy gaming laptop that I will then have to carry around each week. I was thinking I could buy a cheapish mini gaming PC that I could then leave in storage each weekend with the hotel. I would rather keep the price down as I'm also currently midway through rebuilding my main rig at home. Any thoughts or opinions for what would be the best solution to my problem? Thanks in advance

Hello, I'm currently using a iMac 5k to game, and to say short it's an interesting experience. I'm more or less just uncomfortable gaming with it as Apple had recently replaced the computer due to some power failure, then logic board failure. I dual boot it on windows, use Mac Fans Control and make the thing go ham. It screams really loud, but it doesn't bother me as I have headphones in; this is just concerning. I'm looking for a really strong small factor form PC that I can take traveling, like flying to college, etc. I've seen the corsair one, looks pretty good; however, I want to keep my options open, do you guys have any pre-built pc's like it? Also, if I were to build my own, what would be the ideal build? I would prefer liquid cooling, and a somewhat powerful GPU. Budget: $1k - 2.5k.

Hello, so I'm 14 years old and I want to get my first camera around June or so, at the moment I use my iPhone X but I love the feeling of a camera and the noise even with good natural light is still really present (maybe it's me if you have tips to reduce it I'll take them). I don't really care about brands I just don't know how to feel about Canon even tho I really know how this brand works, Nikon is ok I'm not really intersted but I know they have incredible cameras and Sony is really cool, I love the design of theirs mirrorless, they feel build like a tank but sony lenses are generally more expensive than canon lenses. My budget is max 1000 (1200 if it really is worth it) for the body but of course if you can suggest me a body + a lens for around 1000 i'll don't say no. I really like taking portrait and landscapes and I also travel a lot. If it helps you to help me I live in Switzerland and the best place to buy a brand new camera is digitec.ch. Thank you for you help I appreciate that. Have a nice day!

For the past 2 years I have been using Apple EarPods for all my mobile listening and to sleep in, going through a pair every 3-4 months, I am finally fed up with paying $35 all the time and want a good pair of headphones that will last, I am thinking $100-$150 CAD is a good price range, right now I am really looking at the Shure se215 (https://www.amazon.ca/Shure-SE215-K-Sound-Monitor-Black/dp/B004PNZFZ8/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1520999910&sr=1-2&keywords=shure+se215&dpID=311N0kFs2UL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch) because of the removable cable as well as the good sound and noise isolation. Preferably I want a neutral sound as I want to do video editing with them. I'm thinking I should get them now as I am going on a trip soon and want a good pair of earbuds to take with me that will fit in my pocket everywhere I go. My biggest priority is durability as I will be sleeping in them every night, as I listen to music, especially if I am paying this much for them, I want them to last me 2+ years.

I have a request from my employers to build some PCs to use for demonstrations. They would like to travel with these PCs and need a large amount of power to run the virtualization we need. Management is asking me to slap 128gb of RAM in something compact enough to carry on board a plane and carry across the globe. I do not think a laptop would be able to push what they want, seeing they are complaining about a maxxed out P70 Thinkpad. Liquid cooling is obviously out due to TSA regulations. Our software we are demonstrating controls entire electric grids, so the VM demos are pretty fat (~600GB in files alone). I assume to get the butter smooth presentations they want, I could either build a x299 crate PC or something compact with a folding monitor for their reference. (Clients will see projector). Then cut some foam and put in a rolling Pelican case. Ideally, I need to build a decent prototype, then possibly 4x more. Currently thinking: X299 128GB RAM 2TB NVME SSD Quadro P4000 Any ideas for a case or solution would be great. Budget (I wish was mine.....) $12K per travel "kit"

Hi all. I am looking for some advise into a problem I currently have. I am a keen gamer and have a nice pc at home however I travel around a lot with work and end up spending a lot of time in hotels. I would like some advise on the best console or hand help option. Most of the time I will have access to a TV screen, but not always and always online is right out with poor hotel wifi. Thanks in advance

I'm looking for laptop suggestions to help kick start my search. So I'm going on exchange soon, and I plan to travel around before, during and after. However, I still need a relatively powerful laptop for use with Maya, Premiere, Illustrator, After Effects, etc. Not super heavy use with any of those apps; won't be doing any 4k work or physics sims, so an i5 should be fine. I also want to be able to game on it, so like a 1060 or higher. 8 gigs of ram is crap for me, so 16 gigs. I don't care about touch screens. 1080p is fine. I'm hoping to spend around 1500-2000 dollars. EDIT: AUSTRALIAN dollars. I had a look a the LG gram but idk about gaming on that, but if it's good then let me know. PS I'm in Australia rip
