laptop Looking for the best laptop on the market!
Evyatar posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Hello everyone So, basically, I'm looking for a laptop that should be the best in every aspect (at least for me). I've asked Chat GPT, friends, retailers and Google, but no one found the laptop that I'm looking for. So, maybe here, in LTT forums some one could be the resolver for my issue? Let's say that money isn't the issue. What I need from the device: 1. Display - 4k OLED, Touch, perfebly 120HZ but I'll be find with 60hz. Size does not matter for me. Small, big, medium... 2. Keyboard - Full keyboard with a numpad. 3. CPU & Ram - Don't really care, anything from ryzen 5 / Core i7 would be fine for me. Don't care of it's U/P/H version of a cpu. 4. Have pen integrated to the device 5. Optional - If possible, ethernet port? Currently the only device that fits what I'm looking for is the X1 Yoga Gen 8, but it's without the full keyboard! What else could you recommend for me? Thank you! -
Hi there, during the last two weeks, I have been looking into touchscreen monitors. The person that tasked me with this wants a large screen (27"+) and a good quality display panel with a high resolution. Unfortunately, the offers on the touchscreen market are minimal; I could tell him right away that 4k and 27" are not going to happen. These high resolution displays are only available on All in One computers. The final decision was between the Dell P2418HT and the Lenovo T24t-20. As you can see from the title, we decided on Lenovo because of the better ports and the lower price. It was not an easy decision because there were no reviews online, except for the marketing material from Lenovo. The panel is 1920x1080 @75Hz; this was a pleasant surprise since it is listed as a 60Hz panel on most websites The monitor has 80W power delivery via USB-C It doesn't have speakers The colours don't look as good as on my MacBook, but this isn't a fair comparison. I tested the display with my SpyderX and DisplayCal. All of the default presets are garbage, except for the one selected as default. DisplayCal revealed these results: ACCURACY dE76 avg 0.083711 ACCURACY_ dE76 max 1.350533 ACCURACY dE76 rms 0.204007 GAMUT volume 1.12003861735 GAMUT_coverage(srgb) 0.9777 GAMUT_coverage(dci-p3) 0.7907 GAMUT coverage(adobe-rgb) 0.7139 In my opinion, the touchscreen experience on a display this large is not good. I had never seen a Windows touchscreen this large in person before, so I was eager to try it out. The monitor was connected to an Intel NUC with Windows 11 installed. The touchscreen felt very slow, despite the displays 75Hz refresh rate. I don't know its polling rate, but compared to my iPad, it felt unresponsive. I heard that Windows 11 reduced touch functionality; the first thing I experienced was that no touch keyboard pops up, when I click in a text box. Maybe there was a hardware keyboard connected; maybe there is an option to toggle; I don't know. I concluded that it is unergonomic to use a 24" touchscreen monitor; you have to move your hands more to reach for buttons than on a smaller touchscreen. I didn't test these horrible fake touch screens pens for drawing. If you want to draw, get a Surface Studio or a Wacom. I hope I can help someone looking for a touchscreen with this review. I can't tell yet whether the person who wanted this monitor likes it and decides to keep it in the long run. T24t-20 #1 2022-02-10 10-18 2.2 F-S XYZLUT+MTX.icm

Hi, I have an id-cooling 224 xt and the Backplate is resting over the stock backplate of the mother, not over the 4 corners, in what I assume has a 4 white nylon washers, this backplate is the same as the one provided by Noctua, I just hand tighten everything by hand and a slightly with screwdriver, just enough for the cooler to not move. Is this designed that way on purpose? Should it be tightened until it touches the actual motherboard with the 4 corners? here is what I am talking about, you can see the space between the motherboard and the withe washer, (I put a piece of paper so you can appreciate it)

I was planning to buy the new envy x360 but I know some models don't include the stylus and in my country all activr pens are quite expensive (over 150 usd) so I was wondering if I can use a samsung S pen (without it being charged). I only need it to work with its normal pressure levels so it would be more accurate than a capacitative stylus but much cheaper than other active pens. Will it work with full accuracy like on the note phones?

I'm searching for a new laptop which I can use for programming. It should be able to handle also higher demanding stuff, as I would like to do things like game development and 3D modeling in the future. It would be great if you could play games on it at least decently and if it had some touch screen or stylus support so I can write on it in my studies. I looked around a lot for laptops fitting these criteria, but there are not that many I found. The only one which did everything I wanted was the Surface Book 2 with a GTX 1060. But some people seems to have issues with overheating and stuff. Does anyone here have a suggestion?

Hello, until now i used a T440p in combination with a thinkpad-tablet for university. Also I use the laptop for random surfing, and youtube stuff. But both of them are getting really bad. The performance of my tablet is laggy, and sometimes I'm not able to write down something, because windows is updating or a tiny thing is running in the background. And my thinkpad have seen better days, mainboard have a few issues, like DAC is defective and the charging-circuit is bad. So I decidet to upgrade, but my budget isn't the biggest one. I really need: 1. Active Digitizer, for writing math-stuff down. 2. 1080p or up display 3. decent battery time (at least 3h) 4. not really expensive I would like an ryzen 7 setup like the 3700u, so I'm at least able to play the one game I play while not at home (sea of thieves). For real gaming I have a gaming-pc, also for intense university software, like CAD-Stuff. I looked around and found the 1. HP ENVY x360 13-ar0106ng 827,08€ 2. ASUS Zenbook Flip 14 UM462DA-AI022T 877€ 3. Lenovo Ideapad C340-14API 81N60039GE 799€ My max budget would be 850€, but a few € more wouldn't kill the deal If you have other idears, or think one of them would be more suitable, please let me know.

[UPDATE] I checked that chip again, I am almost certain that it is a Texas Instruments HD3SS460 4 x 6 Channels USB Type-C™ Alternate Mode MUX, the official document is here: http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/hd3ss460.pdf Does this "USB CHIP" envolve i2c touchscreen? [ORIGINAL CONTENT] hello guys! Sorry for my poor English first, I hope you can understand what I am talking about. I'm trying to modify my LG GRAM 15Z980, replace its non-touchscreen to a touchscreen which is from touchscreen edition of the same Z980 series. The screen panel can display normally, but the touch function doesn't work. I get an HID I2C error, code 10, in WINDOWS DEVICE MANAGER. I have tried all software method to fix it like installing fresh windows and update drivers, but they never work. Then I notice there are some differences on the PCB near the EDP video interface, I can see 2 different components on non-touchscreen edition PCB and touchscreen edition PCB. I'm not sure if these hardware difference cause the problem or not. I also guess maybe the hidden option in bios lock the touch function. There is no information online for LG GRAM, it's really not popular like macbook or thinkpad. I have uploaded pics in attachments. And bios file is here: https://mega.nz/#!UwJT2QQA!U7PWAU7KFiPds7db-41o8NzqhF4yQxNyiLMTr8unOis Can anybody help me fix the touchscreen problem? Thank you so much! touchscreen edition pcb: non-touchscreen edition pcb: non-touchscreen edition pcb back:

Greetings All, I'm currently building my own office and meeting room... Small area... During the deaign process I was wondering how I can make my TV touch compatible. I didn't buy a TV yet but it will something around 60" hooked up to an HTPC that would serve as an entertainment, meeting and 3D rendering support unit. During my search in the we, I've come across ChingYing inferred frames li k below. They don't seem to have any reliable reviews or videos on Youtube... I've seen similar products, PeauProduction but they don't sell them any more. Any one has any knowledge regarding this product. An LTT youtube review would be great? P. S. The office is going to be used by Architectects and Designers. Edit: Forgot the Link https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D1ZFRYQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_BOINCb92XWRYR

Hey, I'm currently just looking for a cheap, quick and easy way for having a tiny touch display connected to my Ubuntu virtual machine on Windows (the touch-display passthrough is no problem, I have already done it). I have already found many such displays, but they all need a raspberry pi connected to them, and I would need to passthrough the signal from and to the display trough the rp, what I really don't want to do if it's not necessary. So does anyone know a "standalone" touch display, wich works with Windows 10. Or could someone show me the holy grail of display passthroughs(some open source project which does what I need for this)? Passing through a display signal trough 2 separate operating systems seems not that optimal. My budget ist around 50-70€, AliExpress and Amazon would be okay, I already own a rp, but I would buy another one if needed. Btw my first post on this forum, please be nice Thx

Pretty much my brother gave me this surface after some dumbbutt sat on it (it was in his backpack) and pretty much the Surface thinks I am touching on two separate points on the screen all the time, making it difficult to use. I barely logged in, but now I can't even access settings to disable touch input. I need to know if it is possible to replace just the glass cover of the screen, and then have it work? Or do I have to fork out $150 for a whole new screen?

I am looking for a 2 in 1 laptop that can handle basic to medium gaming, not looking to run Dark Souls 3 on Ultra or any AAA FPS. I would like to use it with a pen for basic Photoshop and sprite design, as well as run simple games off it like rocket league, maybe league of legends or pubg/fortnite. Front runner is currently the XPS 15 2 in 1 base model (which is very different from the XPS 15 not 2 in 1). Any thoughts or suggestions? I haven't owned a laptop since 2012 as they are freaking expensive and I built a fairly beefy desktop for only $1,100. My budget should be $1000 as I'm a pastor and we don't get paid that much haha, but I could go as much as $1,400 if I wait longer. Thanks, Keeners

Hello everyone, I'll start university in a couple of months, and I'd really like to use something digital instead of a paper notebook. I considered many alternatives, but all of them left me kinda unsatisfied. They are, with each's drawback: 1. 2018 iPad 6 with pencil (feels like I'm buying an iPad air) 2. Either wait for the new iPad Pro or buy the 2nd gen, still with the pencil (it's quite expensive, and I know I probably don't need it) 3. Buy a 2 in 1 (I'd have liked it to have Ryzen, but isn't the battery life worse than Intel? How much? Also, a 13" screen (or even 15") as a piece of paper... Is it doable?) 4. Buy a windows/android tablet (android tablets feel like a bigger phone, so a duplicate, and windows tablets are either too expensive (surface book) or don't have a good CPU (eve v, surface go)) So, since the community has more experience, what do you say on this? Thank you for your time, EMENCII

Hi, I just completely dismantled my laptop, and rebuilt it. Upgrading the hard drive to ssd, repasting and cleaning. First time ever and I intend to post a few pictures and word of thanks to the LTT community and LTT staff for giving me the courage and knowledge to do so. Edit: Visual issue Solved!: However i have some software issues with my windows 8.1 refresh, most pressing of all is a visual bug in the apps/program tray. There is a very ennoying double visual of the apps/programs of which only one is functional. I went to grand master google, but ended up not finding anything for 2 hours. Any help would be nice. (also have an issue with multitouch which i think is in pen and touch setting (which i can't find), but that i'll tackle a bit later) I uploaded a photo of the issue, screenshots come out normal, one also uploaded. The apps/programs can still be selected and opened on one of the visuals. I've already searched for the drivers. This is the setup i have: The issue with the touch sensor not registering multitouch and gestures remains, and the settings seem to not be found anywhere... Are 2-in-1 pc's reliable tech now ? What i mean is that are they still something new and experimental or have they become a new piece of norm tech that has more versatility and stablility compared to a more traditional clamshell laptop ? Are the life time ( wear and tear ) of these hybrids long enough that they can get through 4 years of college time ? As i am deciding to buy a laptop i am in this dilema whether to buy a 2-in-1 or a clamshell ?

The title says it all: Thunderbolt 2 Capacitive-Touch Monitor - Does it exist?! I have a set up where I would really benefit from a touchscreen monitor with peripheral plugs (USB for flash drive, headphones, special tools, etc). The best value touchscreen I've found is the Planer PCT2235, but to have a thunderbolt dock is inconvenient because this monitor is on a multi-axis wall mount. Cost is not an issue and color accuracy is not a priority, but it must be capacitive, <60Hz refresh rate, preferably have a low latency rate, and above all else... the monitor MUST be Thunderbolt 2 compatible to accommodate directly plugged peripherals. If it Thunderbolt 3, but a 3 to 2 adapter accompanies the find, that is also acceptable. I'm exhausted from research. Thank you for your help!

Do you guys know of any desktop environments or programs that have great touch support? If you know of a desktop environment, does it look modern like Plasma or Deepin? I really like Arch Linux and I want to use touch with it but Deepin doesn't really recognize touch and KDE's implementation sucks. If there is none then that's alright I guess.

So i have a screen from a old stereo. And k was curious as to if it would be able to wire it up to hdmi And power it whilel still using touch screen function? I would be using it on a raspberry pi 3.
