Last night my dad threw out the idea of water cooling my system for Christmas. I like the idea of water cooling my system, because hopefully it'll be quieter and I'll also need a new case. I'm a little nervous about the idea of water cooling it, because I've never water cooled a system before. I've never used an AIO water cooler, and my dad wants to jump right in to custom water cooling. The case I was thinking of getting was a Phanteks Enthoo Pro. I'd mount a radiator in the top and in the front. I'm not sure what size to put in the top, but minimum a 240 rad. I'm also not sure if I'll be able to get 2 SSDs and 2 HDDs in the case and still put a rad up front? Here's my list of unsure-ness: What size rad in the top? I need a 5.25" slot for a DVD-ROM. What size (if any) rad in the front? What fans to use? What res to use? What pump to use? The pump would ideally mount directly under the res. They should both ideally be able the fit the res mount in the rear of the case. Tubing? Fittings? Compression fittings are ideal, please. Is the case good? Other cases should be around $100 US. CPU Waterblock? It should include hardware for both AMD and Intel, so future CPU upgrades are possible with the same block. GPU Waterblock? I have the Sapphire R9 280. I'm not sure if it's a custom PCB. A universal block is ok. I'm willing to use a Swiftech AIO and expand it to the GPU, as long as the pump had enough pressure. EDIT: I'll probably repost this in the future, I just want to get a general idea.

There are just so many series I want to watch! But also a ton of daily uploading YouTubers I watch, school stuff to do, sleep, etc., etc.... I can't watch anime at school and since I go to school by bike I can't use that time either. I also hate dubbed anime and thus can't play games and watch anime at the same. Buying manga to read at school would be way too expensive and most of them don't have an official English/German release. Please help me! (╥︣﹏᷅╥᷅)

Hello community of LinusTechTips! It's been quite awhile since I've been on here, 6 months to be precise. Anyway, in a few weeks my PC will be about a year old and I think it's about time I overclock my GPU to wear it out until I save enough for a better card which will be most likely the 900 series. I opened up MSI Afterburner and Core Temp and I have no idea were to go from here... Excuse me if I'm a noob at overclocking but we all got to start somewhere. Providing the specifications below, I need some suggestions on what to increase in MSI Afterburner. These are my current settings for MSI Afterburner and my PC temperature running at idle. (Yes I know I need to upgrade my cooler, and GPU eventually): http://i.imgur.com/GznDhcw.png Specifications CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor MOBO: MSI Z97-GAMING 5 ATX LGA1150 GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 770 2GB TWIN FROZR PSU: EVGA 850W ATX12V / EPS12V Cooler: Stock (Since my Hyper 212 EVO Broke) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Case: NZXT H440 (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower I'd appreciate it if no one here trolls, I just need a little extra "UMPH!" from my PC currently. Thanks for the help guys, I looked at some guides and I am completely lost already - including the database...

I am thinking of buying and build a PC for the first time. I am coming from a console background. These are the parts I am thinking of getting: Case: NZXT Source 210 Processor:AMD FX-6300 (3.2 GHz) GPU: MSI Gtx n750 TF 2GB Memory:Crucial Ballistix Sport 1600 MHz DDR3 (2X4GB) Motherboard: MSI 970 Gaming-R Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm 1tb Windows 10 Is there anything I should change? P.S. I have some friends that can help me build and setup the PC.

Ok so I just posted something a couple mins ago asking about a HDD warning in Defraggler and someone told me to download Crystal Disk Info to see whats going on. (Thanks for that) Anyway, Crystal Disk Info says the following: Health Status: Caution Everything is fine exept for the Reallocated Sectors Count: ID: 5 Attribute Name: Reallocated Sectors Count Current: 86 Worst: 86 Threshold: 5 Raw Values: 000000000194 What does this mean? <---- (Not Double Rainbow Reference) How long will my drive last? Which HDD's would you recommend? <--- (I've heared Seagates have high failure rates) What temp should my drive be at? I'm running a Hitachi HUA721010KLA330 with 1 TB of storage. Anyway, this is my Steam drive so I'm not THAT worried about backing anything up but I'd still like to know if I should be prepared for a soiled HDD. All help is appreaciated! Thanks!

I have a iPhone 5, and I've been charging it ever since I got home today. It was completely out of battery when I started, and 4 hours later, it's only at 88 percent. Is there something wrong with the phone?

Hello I am going to build my very first gaming desktop soon. I was wondering if I could get a few questions answered about my planned setup. Here are the specs: Motherboard: Asus Z97-A ATX Motherboard CPU: Intel Core i5 4690K GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 Power Supply: Corsair CX 600m RAM: Single 8GB Corsair Vengeance Wireless Card: TP-LINK Dual Band Wireless Adapter Soundcard: Xonar DX Soundcard HDD Storage: WD Blue 1 TB Aftermarket Cooling: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Thermal Compound: Arctic Silver 5 Case: Corsair Carbide Series Mid-Tower Gaming Case Optical Drive: Asus Internal Optical Drive Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Questions: So, will the 600W power supply be enough? Should I get a 750W just in case? Will an out-of-the-box CPU clock speed of 3.5-3.9 GHz be good for gaming or should I overclock? Should I get the Xonar DX sound card? I have heard excellent reviews and want a really immersive experience in games (I know that speaker/headphone quality matters with sound cards as well). Also, should I keep stock Corsair case fans or buy aftermarket ones? Should I go for a different brand on the GPU? There were lots of different ones on Amazon. By the way, I am not an audiophile or enthusiast, I just want an immersive and fun game experience. Reasoning: I am not getting an SSD boot drive because I don't want to mess with multiple drives I got a different CPU cooling because of a lack of confidence in stock CPU fans and possible overclocking

As my Windows 7 installation is getting older, I have noticed that my boot screen (the one with the 4 colorful blobs becoming a logo) has increasingly been taking longer and longer. I have already done the obvious optimizations: SSD, remove unused services, fix BIOS... I also have a RAMDisk that is designed to function as a TEMP location, this RAMDisk doesn't save/load, it starts fresh every time. Now the issue is this: I have a second, slower SSD in my exact same PC, and it's done with the blobs before the blobs can even touch eachother. My main SSD, the faster one, managed to do this too but has increased overtime: as the blobs have touched eachother, it takes atleast 5-10 more seconds! Main SSD speed: http://puu.sh/hNeNc.png Second SSD speed: http://puu.sh/hNf2L.png As you can see, the second SSD is about half the speed of my primary SSD, how can it be booting Windows 7 quicker? I'm obviously not looking for the fresh reinstall solution...

My third post hear discussing the Salladtron 5000 and its variations. (Click here and here for the other two!) I am a graduating high school student looking to build an affordable, but long living and beast of a gaming rig. This is my first build and I have learned quite a lot! The help in these forums has been more than I expected and I am quite thrilled to be about ready to pull the trigger. After many variations I have come up with this! PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($279.98 @ DirectCanada) Motherboard: Asus Z87-Pro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($114.99 @ NCIX) Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2133 Memory ($124.99 @ Newegg Canada) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($119.99 @ Canada Computers) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($62.95 @ DirectCanada) Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card ($412.40 @ Newegg Canada) Case: Thermaltake Versa H22 ATX Mid Tower Case ($42.46 @ DirectCanada) Power Supply: Thermaltake SMART 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($43.95 @ Vuugo) Wireless Network Adapter: TP-Link TL-WDN4800 802.11a/b/g/n PCI-Express x1 Wi-Fi Adapter ($39.98 @ DirectCanada) Total: $1241.69 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-05-26 19:19 EDT-0400 What do you guys think? Hey everyone. This has been happening for a while now and is really starting to tick me off. When ever I load a game, my display driver crashes. The games I play ranges from Minecraft to COD:AW. Why would my driver always crash? At first I thought it was the card's OC, so I put it back to stock and it still crashes. I haven't made any changes in the Nvidia Control Panel and am running the latest drivers available. Its happened 3 time today, once on Minecraft, then on Dirt 3 and just now on COD:AW. When the crash occurs, the screen goes grey and thats it. Sometimes it pops up saying the driver crashed but was recovered successfully, but not all the time. Please help. Thanks. Hey Guys You have probably seen millions of these but I really need help with this PC First Time Build. I have no experience from building but I know the specs of things and if they are compatible but I can't figure out what to do. I am putting together a parts list at a price range of ~1000-1200. I need to have all the basics in the build (WiFi,Bluetooth) but seriously need performance as I will be participating in online tournaments and don't want to rock up looking like a total schmuck with a scrubby HP Pavilion G6. Another few things if can be put in the budget is LED's or other things that make it look cool(Green,Black and Blue Theme gonna spray paint the graphics card. Really like Team Red so stick to that if possible but willing to go Intel for higher FPS. I intend to play games like Chivalry and PayDay 2 in Highish settings with a solid 50-60 fps. I do have a relatively large Steam collection. Really want recommendations from people who have these parts or people who have better similarly priced components The Specs so far are as follows: AMD FX 8350 4.0 Ghz 8 Core Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Asus M5A97 AM3+ Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB DDR3-1866 Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 RPM MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr Thermaltake Chaser MK-1 Full Tower (Really like this case) Corsair CX 500W 80+ Bronze Certified LG CD Player Thanks So Much Nicholas Meyer

Hello everyone, I'm kinda new to the whole "forums" thing. With that, I was exploring time capsules today (the kind your bury). I did a bit of research about how you had to keep your capsule airtight, waterproof, etc. Even with that research I still had questions about time capsules that would approve or disapprove of my time capsule strategy. So, my idea is to build a large metal box (air and water tight) and store things in it like a computer, ssd(s) with information on it, technology of the day, articles of advancement, money, books, and maybe so memorabilia. I want to have a time capsule that lasts anywhere from 50 to 200 years. The main issues I have with this decision is: Will an SSD (or SSDs) last that long even if they aren't rewritten? Will a computer and it's components last that long? Should I bury it in a place or keep it above ground in case I (or my future family) move? Well... Those are my question and this is my first post on this forum (and forums in general). Thank you to anyone who answers my questions or contributes to the conversation. -Octaviothefirst / Max (Also, I don't know if this should go in a tech discussion since this post talks about SSDs and other tech)

So when i boot up my PC from a cold boot to desktop the system flies right through post taking around 10-15s before the windows login screen is displayed. But strangely my POST times take longer upon restarts for no apparent reason. This happens even when there is nothing scheduled or requiring a restart of windows. So when i restart the POST times take 20-30 seconds before finally reaching the windows login screen. This didn't happen until i clean reinstalled windows 8.1 and i'll be doing an clean reinstall with windows 10 sometime soon in hopes it might fix this but i doubt that will solve the problem. I'm guessing it might have something to do with the BIOS or even perhaps some piece of hardware. My motherboard is an ASUS Maximus Hero VI and other details of my system are in my signature. Thanks for anyone who can offer me some help to this strange problem!

My new Asus laptop arrived on Friday, and it says under display adapters, that it is using both the Intel HD4600 graphics and the Geforce GT 820M at the same time. From what I understand, the HD4600 provides the image whilst the GT 820m 'enhances' it by programming straight into the frame buffer. Is this correct? Please help me to understand how this works, it doesn't bother me, it just seems like a very strange setup Edit: Maybe not strange, just a bit pointless.

Over the last few weeks, I have found OCCT with error check enabled to be very helpful in finding a stable overclock for gameplay, however, I'd like some input on test settings, specifically testing duration and safety I've been stress testing my ASUS Radeon 7950 HD with the following test settings: Duration = 30 minutes Idle periods = 0 at beg., 0 at end DirectX version = DirectX11 Resolution = 1920x1080 Full screen = Enabled Error check = Enabled Shader complexity = 7 Memory used = Unchecked FPS limit = 120 fps Question #1: After you've found your relative core and memory "maxes" using tests of shorter duration, how long do you like to run the final tests in OCCT (with error check enabled) to make sure that things are truly stable during game play? Note: I think that 30 minutes in duration should be the minimum for final testing. Question #2: Using OCCT with error check enabled and with my settings listed above, how long in duration do you think I can safely run OCCT GPU stress testing? Thank you!
