  1. UPDATE: SOLVED! the 24 pin cable from the pump to the commander core wasn't seated properly. Thank you so much to everyone who replied This is my first PC build so apologies if I'm missing something obvious For starters, here's my parts list https://pcpartpicker.com/list/znzDkJ Relevant parts (I assume) are intel i7-13700k, MSI PRO Z790-P WIFI ATX LGA1700 Motherboard, GameMax GX Pro Rampage 1050 Power Supple, and Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE CAPELLIX XT 65.57 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler PC will boot up fine, all fans including the ones on the cooler seem to be running, but cpu temps quickly rise to the point where I get a warning in about 5 minutes and then I have to shut it off. Because of this, I havent been able to install windows yet and use iCue software to help diagnose problems with the cooler. BIOS is also showing fan speed is at 0 despite the fact that pump tach header is plugged into CPU_Fan1 on the MB. I've reseated the cooler a few times, the pre-installed thermal paste looks like it's distributed fine. Diagnosing is hard because again, I get so little on-time before I have to shut it off Additionally, turning the PC on will trip the breaker in my office about 2 out of every 3 times; this room is drawing a fair amount of power as-is, so I assumed that was all it was, but now I'm concerned I've wired something wrong and the CPU is drawing way too much power, causing both issues Would love some thoughts as to where I should be looking, my apologies if I failed to include any relevant information. Thank you so much in advance
  2. During this test i was watching Youtube video on 1080p and downloading a 50 GB file in background on Brave browser with 7 tabs opened at the same time. I have checked there was no background running app which can cause these temps. Laptop spec - Acer Nitro 5 AN515-58 Intel® Core™ i7-12650H 16 GB RAM RTX 3070 ti at 150 W Room temperature was around 25 degrees and laptop was placed on a table with good ventilation for air circulation. What can be the solution if this is not normal ? Laptop is 6 months old even checked vents which are not dirty at all.
  3. Before I got the heatsink for my M.2(Samsung 970 Evo Plus) I noticed in my HWiNFO64 there are 3 Temps for this drive and the third one is way off its temp than the two. My M.2 drive usually sits at 45-48c idle and about 53-55c max in usage, but that's Drive Temperature 1 and 2 only(what i've seen in the HWiNFO64), Temp 3 goes even further 79c! Also Samsung Magician only reads the "two" temps so it only reads me 45-48 also. I'm wondering what's this third Drive Temp is in the HWiNFO64 though as I soon got my heatsink it basically came down, almost the same temp with the two Drive temps and Idle goes way cooler now. Well for only 40-45c idle and max about 50c while the third Drive temp about 55c max. So What is this Third Drive Temperature? What part of the m.2 is it reading temperature? I'm just a curious cat
  4. Hello, I have Crucial Ballistix Elite ddr4 4000mhz, and I was wondering what is considered a safe voltage and safe temps for them when overclocking. CPU: Amd ryzen 5600x
  5. Hello everyone, Just wrapped up my first build today and wanted to share the specs and some performance details: CPU: Intel Core i7-14700kf GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 RAM: 64 GB (16 GB x 4) 6400MHz DDR5 Motherboard: MSI MPG Z790 EDGE Wifi Case: Corsair 5000D Airflow https://pcpartpicker.com/b/Yzgtt6 I've set up the cooling system with 3 top fans for exhaust, one back fan for exhaust, AIO in the front for intake, and 3 side fans for intake. Using an AIO cooler - Arctic Freeze 360mm, I also added a Thermalright Contact Frame and applied Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut for better thermal performance. Just ran Cinebench R23 three times consecutively, and here are the results: Multicore: 33960, Max temperature: 92°C, Power consumption: 340W Single core: 2127, Max temperature: 54°C, Power consumption: 96W For context, my idle CPU temperature is at 28°C, with a room temperature of 22°C. No overclocking and no undervoltage. All four RAM sticks are running at 6400MHz, thanks to XMP 1.0 being enabled. I'm curious to know if these Cinebench results and temperatures fall within the normal range. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
  6. Hello, I've just built my first pc, and am taking note of the temperatures I am getting and trying to get a read if my temperatures are normal. Specs are as follows: Ryzen 9 7900x Kraken Elite z73 360mm AIO set to exhaust. G Skill 64gb cl30 5800mhz Asus B650E-F Gaming Wifi Xfx 7900xt black MSI A1000g 1000w power supply 3 lian li sl120 fans set to intake Noctua Redux 120mm set to exhaust ------------------------------------------------------------------------- CPU temps Idle at 38-40 degrees with a few chrome tabs and nzxt cam open to monitor Sits at 58-65 Playing Minecraft, RUST, TF2 , etc with GPU at 48 degrees. CPU hits 91 degrees and clocks at 5.1 GHZ under 100% load using Cinebench R23 Motherboard settings are mostly stock, any recomendations or confirmations about what I am seeing would be beautiful, Thank you so much.
  7. I have had my airflow set up like this. The idle temperature is ≈ 40°C. Is this an ideal setup? Can it be improved if I add another fan on top? Specs: i7-13700K with Noctua NH-U12A MSI RTX 3060
  8. Hi, first time to the forums after exhausting all alternative places to ask, so bear with me! Currently: Running 2x Dell SG2417DG's bought in 2019 ; 24" 1440p 144hz 8-bit color TN Panel https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/3c3d64a Since i WFH and GameFH, these monitors served me well running 10+ hours a day typically at 75~100% brightness, BUT it generates too much heat on the monitor itself (bottom edge specifically) and it's starting to become unbearable in the room despite addressing as much as possible. QUESTION TO THE FORUM: What are my solutions? I'm very new to understanding monitors especially in terms of energy/watts/heat and especially panel types (TN/VA/IPS/OLED) etc. Ideal monitor specs: 1) 32 inch | 4k | ~144hz | 10-bit color 2) 27 inch | 1440p/4k | ~144hz | 10-bit color 3) 24 inch | 1440p | 144hz | 10-bit color FYI it helps if they're thin from the sides too, as in Power Supply is NOT integrated into monitor since im mounting them and my desk is shallow depth due to space constraints I'm very likely going to buy a pair of them too. If you guys happen to have some good suggestions that doesnt break the bank, please let me know! lol, that means idk buying a $1500+ monitor is almost out of the question... P.S. if LTT reads this, I really think energy consumption/heat output of monitors would be a good metric to add for their reviews especially if they put things in perspective with their FLIR cameras, compare it to idk, 60hz base monitor + best selling average gaming monitor with the reviewed monitor for the video.
  9. Recently upgraded to a 3080Ti which forced my radiator for my AIO cooler to be mounted to the top of my case (was on the side before). When playing games that load the GPU, the radiator now gets heated up by the hot GPU air. This causes coolant temp to reach 60+C after 30-45 minutes, even with very low CPU load (10% or so). Two 120mm fans pull in fresh air from the front, two 120mm radiator fans on the top act as exhaust. I know the obvious solutions are to get a new case or new CPU cooler, but is there any other step I could take to alleviate the issue without jumping the gun on new parts? Help appreciated
  10. So I noticed my laptop was overheating and I decided to open it up and blow out dust from fans and coolers (there was a lot) after that i decided to stress test the laptop. This is Prime95 running for ~15 min on stress test settings. Is CPU being pegged at 100 C normal, this was with Performance mode on, when on balanced mode it would get up to 90-95 c for a min or so and then drop to 87 c, along with core clocks dropping from 3.1 to 2.6 - 2.7 Ghz. On battery saving it would peak at 67 c while not going above 2.1 Ghz. In reviews i managed to dig up the reviewer said that it would peak at 80 c when running prime95 stress test(didn't mention the performance mode, but i doubt it was battery saver). Will these temps cause problems, I've had the laptop for 18 months now, and it was probably running like this all the time (although only on balanced or power saving modes) and not being stress tested. Laptop Specs are as follows: CPU: AMD R7 5800h RAM: 16Gb GPU: RTX 3050
  11. Hello guys, Yesterday, I noticed that my GPU started hitting 60°C (140°F) while idling First, I thought it was a problem with the dust (the last time I cleaned my PC was like 2-3 months ago). So I cleaned it and it keeps hitting 60°C for no reason while idling It used to happen sometimes when I got this PC, but I noticed it started to happen very often since I got back from vacations When on my desktop, my GPU goes from 40-45°C to 60°C, then my fans turn on, the gpu cools down to 40°C again, then my fans turn off, and my gpu warms up to 60°C, then my fans turn on.. etc.. etc.. It this normal for a 3060Ti? (When playing it never gets above 70°C (158°F) longer than 5 seconds) Thank you for your time and have a nice day!
  12. The last week during the night I would hear my computer randomly ramp up the fans then come down, then ramp the fans back up and so forth. It was annoying me so I turned the PC off as I thought windows update or antivirus was being weird and doing a bunch of background windows stuff as it does sometimes. But its reoccuring now with no apparent cause. My cpu is idling at around 70-80 degrees with the voltage being around 1.3v which should be from the factory as I have not overclocked anything. I lowered it to 1.025v just to take some load off and the temps came down to 51 degrees while idling, which is still suspiciously high as I am not doing anything while its at this temp. I have an Enermax Liqmax III 360 AIO with 3 fans. When I do a quick stress test with AMD Ryzen Master my CPU quickly spikes to 110 degrees and sits around there. I have tried remounting the cooler and reapplying thermal paste to no avail. I can also hear the pump running and feel it humming slightly away so I know it is running. Also as another test I unplugged the pump to cut it off to see if it was even pumping anything, thinking maybe it was running but was dying and not actually moving anything, and CPU temps quickly started to rise so I know the pump is doing something. Im really at a loss at the moment as I dont really have a clue as to why its running so hot. As a good sidenote I havent had any issue while gaming thankfully since I have so much CPU headroom. Attached is a HWMonitor of my idle temp with the max being from a quick stress test. Im leaning towards maybe a failing pump? But I can hear it working. So I wanted to get some other thoughts before jumping the gun and buying a whole other CPU cooler. AIO was bought in late 2021 as a reference for how old it is.
  13. A topic that I've seen come up that I've had to address, an understandable misinterpretation, is that higher temperatures of components mean more heat into your room. This is far enough removed from a proper understanding of thermodynamics enough for me to make a post I can reference back to as a detailed explanation of why. TLDR: The primary controlling variable for energy/heat into your room from your computer is its power consumption. More energy in = more energy out. The variable that controls this is energy in, which is compensated for by either changing fan speeds or allowing the difference in temperature of the components and your environment to change. Higher temperatures under load are simply the way a heat source compensates for an insufficient proportional increase in the other variables, like airflow or heat capacity/surface area/heat transfer coefficients, etc. What can you do to change this? Lower your power consumption. A way to mitigate its effect to the user can also be to transport that heat more effectively away from the user (shoutout to whole room watercooling, RIP). Now to show this qualitatively with some simple equations and definitions to understand: Temperature- the average random molecular kinetic energy of a substance. This is a localized approximation of kinetic energy by its nature and not indicative of kinetic energy of a whole system. A fundamentally important thing to understand is that computers are practically space heaters, where most of the electrical energy into a computer is converted to waste heat. BTU/hr being proportional to Watts (3.41 conversion) since Watts are just Joules/sec. dT (difference in temperature) can be defined as (Tsource – Tsink), being the difference in temperature between the heat source and heatsink (CPU and your room, as examples). Heat transfer cannot occur without a difference in temperature. If dT is 0, then no heat transfer is occurring between those materials. The higher the difference, the more heat transfer can occur. This is why allowing your temperatures to go up at a lower fan speed can reach an equilibrium, Tsource will keep going up until it does or it throttles back power consumption, therefore reducing the heat transfer requirement. More unit definition/clarifications: 'U,A' in the top equation being complex variables, since it’ll include the heat transfer coefficient of every layer or be an average across multiple layers, where this in some equations is defined as the ‘material constant’ since its largely dependent on material properties and are relatively constant. The simplest explanation of these variables is they’re proportional to your heat sink, like a 120mm AIO versus an NH-D15, where an NH-D15 will have a higher UA. A way of visualizing this is with a cross section of heat transfer layers of a microprocessor. Notice how we’re already at 3 layers of materials without adding thermal paste or the heat sink, which the heatsink will have multiple layers between it alone. Each of these materials will have their own U (heat transfer coefficient), where generally you’re most limited by the number of layers and the lowest heat transfer coefficient. The overall value of these heat transfer coefficients when factoring in their thickness and individual heat transfer coefficients will determine U. This is the major reason why 3D v-cache operates so hot and requires lower maximums, since the extra copper and cache layers require a proportionally lower temperature at the point of measurement to maintain a safe die temperature. 'A' (cross sectional area) is the third dimension of the heat transfer profile, being the contactable surface area to transfer heat from a heat source to a heat sink. Things like Heat Flux come into play with this value, but its outside the scope of this discussion. Now finally to the second equation… 'M' (mass flow rate) is the volumetric flow of the fluid (whether that’s water or air) that’s acting as the heat transfer medium. This would be the fluid in a CPU AIO or the fluid in the heatpipes of a tower cooler, and then again for the air that the fans move across the radiator or heatsink fins. 'C' (specific heat capacity) is practically speaking a measurement of density, where it’s the amount of energy per mass per degree a material can absorb. The higher this value, the more energy that material can absorb without changing temperature independently of its total mass. This is a material property, water having one of the highest, especially as a relatively safe heat transfer medium. A quantifiable measurement for this being that water can absorb ~4.5x more energy than aluminum of the same mass per degree change of temperature. Done with explaining the equations, now for some actual qualitative analysis. This involves assuming static quantities for certain variables to create proportions between either the one's on topic or to demonstrate a relationship between those variables. In this case, we'll look at Q, M, and Tsource: Take the equations and strip them down to a proportion between Q (heat transfer rate), dT (difference in heatsink to heatsource) and M (mass flow rate)these are the variables we can control in our computer. The rest we can assume to be relatively constant for the purposes of this discussion. Even within dT, we can assume that Tsink is relatively constant, since this would ultimately be the temperature of your room/environment. Mass flow rate is practically speaking the speed of your fans, and we’ll eliminate the variable of a watercooling pump and its speed from this to make it simpler. This leaves specifically Q (power consumption of the PC, Tsource (component temperature like CPU/GPU), and M (speed of cooling fans). While your computer is ‘idle’ in a relatively low power state, lets say 50W, this would require less Q (heat transfer rate) since there’s less heat being generated per second (Watts), therefore the Tsource (your CPU/GPU) doesn’t have to be as high to remove said heat, creating a proportionally lower dT (assuming constant fan speed). While your computer is under load, lets say 500W, the heat transfer rate will go up, requiring one of the equation’s variables to go up proportionally. This requires a change to either dT or M (mass flow rate), usually both. This results in a higher Tsource to create a higher dT and higher fan speeds to increase the mass flow rate, since its unlikely one would be able to compensate for 10x the amount of heat simply through an increase in dT (while maintaining operating limitations like 105C). Some caveats: Yes, a silicon semiconductor at a lower temperature will therefore have a lower resistance therefore being more efficient, but that’s an insignificant contribution to overall power consumption in the operating range of computers. The average power consumption, heat soak characteristics, and overall heat capacity of a computer does contribute. This is applicable to full eATX towers versus SFX systems, where a 500W draw SFX system will take far less time to heat soak than an eATX system which might have 2x the steel/aluminum and 10x the internal air volume. This will affect the time it takes for the whole system to reach equilibrium. Anyone else with knowledge of thermodynamics who would like to contribute to this discussion or if you find anything I can improve, I’ll edit the OP accordingly with citation. Feel free to ask questions and for clarifications, and I'll try as best as I can to not require a whole essay to explain. Most of the information I would need to reference would be in OP. An analogy for this using fluid dynamics is to take a tank of water with an inlet and outlet. If the flow into the tank exceeds the flow out of the tank, then the tank level will rise. However, the tank level might rise high enough for it to increase the head pressure on the outlet, therefore increasing the outlet flow, which may match the inlet flow rate once the tank reaches a certain level creating an equilibrium. Water in this analogy is equal to kinetic energy, where the inlet flow are the components generating heat, flow out being the heat transfer out via fans and the tank volume being the overall heat capacity of the system which includes the air inside, heatsinks, etc. Temperature would operate similarly to head pressure and therefore tank level. In this analogy as well, if there's no outlet, then the tank will overflow or become pressurized, just like a computer in a sealed environment will eventually shutdown because it'll overheat, regardless of how much it tries to thermal throttle with no energy out. So if there's energy going in, then there must be energy going out equal to what's going in, otherwise the kinetic energy will continue to rise. To full circle the analogy, neglecting water's surface tension, the tank would be perforated and slowly leaking water, just like how anything with a higher temperature than its surroundings would slowly leak energy to its surroundings and eventually reach equilibrium unless it has an active energy input. To flesh the analogy out more, my 'mythbusting' is that tank level = flow out of the tank; which isn't true, since its not considering flow in and volume of the tank. To put the importance of the tank's volume into perspective, a 1" diameter tube with 5" height of water creates the same head pressure as a 5 gallon drum with 5" height of water, just like how a GT1030 at 75W can operate at the same temperature as a RTX 4090 at 600W. They're both creating the same dT, but at drastically different wattages/volume.
  14. Hello, lovely tech enthusiasts! I come to you today seeking your invaluable expertise and guidance on a matter that has been occupying my tech-loving heart. Allow me to share my experiences and seek your insights regarding my Ryzen 7950X3D processor. So, here's the scoop: I've proudly set a stable curve optimizer on my Ryzen 7950X3D, precisely at -15 for all cores (tested for a solid 9 hours with core cycler, though I must admit I got a tad lazy and didn't go any lower than -15 all core or even attempt to do per core, hehe!). With PBO enabled, SOC set at 1.30, and an Expo 1 configuration (6000MHz, 30 38 38 96), I've achieved higher scores than ever before on the 3DMark Timespy benchmark (both CPU score (top 33% @ 16,701) and graphics score (top 21% @ 36,965) reached unprecedented heights (Overall score: top 25% @ 31,251))! Additionally, my multicore score on Cinebench R23 hit a glorious 36,224, surpassing all previous records. However, there are two aspects that have caught my attention: 1. The multicore temperature during Cinebench R23 remains somewhat high, reaching around 89°C. Are there any tips or tricks you can share to help me lower the temps? My system boasts a trusty 360mm Fractal Design Lumen AIO in pull configuration(exhaust), complemented by the stock Hyte Y60 case with its three static pressure fans (two bottom intake, one rear exhaust). The side panel is currently off, allowing for better airflow. 2. Despite the remarkable overall performance, my single core score on Cinebench lingers around 1926. I can't help but wonder if there's a way to boost this score. Would designating Cinebench as a "game" during the single core test help in core parking and potential performance improvements (I can't think of much since Timespy CPU score and everything else seems to be great (top 33%), although CPU PROFILE score on 3D Mark (not timespy) was only at top 42%)? (It currently parks correctly in games and everything else and I am running Windows 11 btw). Now, my fellow enthusiasts, I turn to you for your wisdom and suggestions. How can I achieve cooler temps during multicore workloads? Are there any ideas to enhance the single core performance? Should I consider repasting or even reseating the CPU to ensure optimal thermals? Linus showcased this EXACT setup in his "500FPS PC" video, and it appeared slightly cooler(5-10C Cooler) in Halo Infinite @ 1080p 500hz (I'm using my old 240hz 1080p monitor for CPU benchmarking test and in Halo Infinite to compare to his, so it's more CPU intensive). While I initially attributed the variances to ambient temperatures and the silicone lottery, I'm open to exploring other possibilities. Your assistance, recommendations, and shared experiences would be immensely appreciated! Let's join forces and navigate the realms of temperature management and single core performance together. Your support means the world to me, and I can't wait to hear your brilliant ideas and suggestions. Thank you in advance for your kindness and expertise, my tech-loving friends! With utmost gratitude, Keiko-chan
  15. TL:DR, After a power cycle, the GPU in my laptop doesn't seem to idle properly anymore, meaning the temps are constantly higher, at least without unplugging, and replugging-in the laptop SPECS: Model No: Acer Nitro 5, AN515-45 CPU: Ryzen 5800H GC:RTX 3070 Laptop RAM: 32GB DDR4 OS: Windows 11, 64-bit Quick background, I've had this laptop for just under a year, and it's been working fine, temps are usually good when performing light tasks like web browsing, using Word/PowerPoint etc. it usually tops out at around 45°C, which is good because the fans wont spin up past 1500RPM (the lowest speed). obviously temps would rise once running a game (maxing out at like 93°C on DOOM: Eternal etc). This was until around a month ago, when I realised that after a power cycle the fans were louder, and using the NitroSense monitoring tool, I could see why: The idling temps were now 55°C+, rising to over 65 when doing ANYTHING... this would raise the fanspeeds to over 3000+, which I'm used to while gaming but not when literally doing nothing intensive. I tried everything I could think of short of reinstalling Windows, i performed a DDU of both the iGPU and dGPU, closed every startup program that could've been causing it, but to no avail. It was a week or two later I noticed in NitroSense that the GPU monitoring was actually showing a temperature, and graphing it. there was 0 usage, and the Nvidia GPU activity window in the tray was showing the GPU as inactive, but there it was, still being graphed, and suspiciouslyඞ my CPU temps were now 10-20°C higher. Whilst trying to figure out a solution, I figured out a temporary fix: If i unplug the laptop, wait for the dGPU to go idle, then plug it back in, then it stays off. This 'solves' the issue, as the temps will return to normal as NitroSense now shows no GPU temps/usage. Occasionally, it will get stuck on when opening certain applications, like games or even Chrome can start the GPU up and it wont idle again, although turning the laptop on, or even waking it from sleep will cause the dGPU to just sit there increasing the temps when nothing seems to be using it. I have no idea what i could've changed or what could be causing this, so if anyone has any ideas how I could diagnose this weird behaviour, or maybe a fix (someone must've noticed this before). I'd be greatly appreciative. a couple of other things i've tried was disabling hardware acceleration is discord (although the issue persisted even when discord wasn't open during the issue so I wasn't expecting that to help), setting the GPU preference in the Nvidia control panel to Auto-select (that was what it was originally on, but i decided to change it anyway to no avail). Oh, here's a pic of the weird behaviour, the area I've circled blue is what it looks like waking the laptop from sleep (or turning on), and the graph above shows the correlated CPU temp increase. dashes in the red and orange in the GPU graph is what it looks like when the dGPU is idle. As you can see, I've performed my unplug/replug technique, although its kinda annoying and probably not good for the charging plug to be used over and over again. UPDATE: in case anyone has found a similar issue, the 'fix' for this was a Windows update, a fairly large one which seemed to solve the problem.... probably means the issue was with how Windows 11 was managing the power so....
  16. Greetings everyone, After months of waiting for parts I was finally able to asseble my first custom water cooled build, while I was pretty pleased with the estetic result, as soon as I started to actually use it I've noticed a few things that had me wonder if everything was alright. My main problem is the temperature of the coolant, it can reach 50°C while I game and 40°C on a 30 minute CPU intensive task, which is something that rings an alarm in my head as my 3 rads should be able to dissipate a 250W 13900KF more than fine, but my coolant temp are gaining 10°C in 30 min, also the facts it takes a good 10 minutes to go from 50°C back under sub 40°C while idling only makes me wonder more. To provide some data, here are the specs of my PC: And here is the cooling: I'll also leave some pictures so you can see my loop: My loop order is Pump > Side Rad > Top Rad > CPU > GPU > Bottom Rad > Pump. I've been told that I'm running the CPU block in inverted flow and that it would have been better to not run the GPU with both inlet and outlet on the same side, but the temps of those components are not anything unusual so I dont think that's an issue, also because clearly heat is being dumped in the loop really well. While I idle or do simple task the temps are not a problem, my loop stays around 35°C with my room at around 28°C, but if I want to game I have to turn the AC on at 25°C so the coolant temp wont go over 50°C. In game I'll usually average 65/70°C on the CPU and 60-65°C on the GPU, depending on the titles it can go a bit up or down, but the coolant always reach 48°C at least. Bottom fan is intake while side and top are exhaust, I've been told to flip the side rad fans but I'd have to tear down the whole system to do it so I'm waiting on more opinions before I modify my setup. I've done some test to show how bad is the problem. This is the situation after a 10 minute run of Cinebench R23 + FurMark 1080p windowed, I've resetted the counters before starting. Room was with AC on at 25°C. I've also managed to take some pictures with a FLIR camera, not an expensive one but I hope they can be useful. These are before starting the stress test, while the loop was at 32°C. While these are taken at the end of the test, by the time I removed the front panel the coolant went already at 50°C. Pump is locked at 3.3K RPM and fans at 1250RMP. I'm looking for any possible advice, my 2 options right now are to flip the side fans or replace the temp sensor, because I have a feeling this one might have got the cable damaged while assembling the loop. Or that it's reporting false temps because of its position, it's on the reservoir but it's getting hot air from the bottom rads + heat from the pump motor, so it might be reporting bad temps under load just because of the heat going against it because the tubes dont seem to be super hot, totally very warm but I'd expect them to be hotter if it was really 50°C inside it. I've also disabled the ASUS CPU boost stuff and set a -0.08 offset, but the situation is still the same. Which is a shame because I feel like I've got really lucky with the silicon lottery, this thing was able to pull 400W and score 41k on R23. Please help me figure out this heat problem otherwise I think this system is doomed to melt itself. Another issue with this system is that it's almost undrainable, right now I've moved the valve on the bottom of the GPU but when I originally had it on the bottom of the reservoir, it would just drain the res without a single drop leaving the rads, tubes and block. How could I make draining it a bit easier without the need of blowing into it? The pump was dead silent while it was running with EK Loop cleaner and then the superflush, but it got a bit loud right after I finished installing windows. Now if I put it on full speed it does a strange sound, almost like sand going thru it, but there is no air in the system, it's been running for a week now with almost never being shut down and also twisted on all sides multiple times. Thanks in advance to whoever might be able to help me with this mess, definetly feel like I wanted to overdone it for my first watercooled build and now I'm paying the price of the small case.
  17. Hello, Ive had this build for quite some time and Im not able to upgrade (working with what I have) Ive gotten into hardware monitoring and trying to make my rig as efficient as it can be. Ive used several hardware monitors , NZXT, HWinfo, Speedfan etc and the temps are weird, my CPUs are running within parameters idle and at load but across all monitor programs my SystIN is over 100 deg celcius. also Ive had an issue controling the fans through the bios, the reads are between 300-800 fan speed at load and this seems way too low as Ive seen workstation fans in the thousands but can seem to get my fans to ramp up when the temps get hot and seemingly no way to control it. asus Z10pe-d16 ws 64 gb ram 2400 dual gtx 1080s dual xeon E5-2640 v4 processor CPU coolers x2 noctua 14s (i believe) case Phantek enthoo pro x2 noctua bottom case fans x2 noctua ceiling case fans x1 giant front panel phantek case fan x1 phantek rear case fan 15 all front and bottom case fans are blowing into the case all top and rear case fans are blowing out of the case but I cant get the fans to throttle up at all. Ill gladly post the HW monitor log when I get a chance but if anyone has thoughts? Ive also noticed a new development of one of my ssds is not noticed by bios on boot occassionally and the audio through my focusrite is becoming garbled and having digital crunchy dropouts sometimes.
  18. Hello, I am having an issue with my Ryzen 5 3600 with overheating. When I stress test my CPU with CPU-Z, Furmark, and Prime95, I usually get around 65c with my new AIO that I just got. I also only pull about 46w. For reference, my old Hyper 212 EVO managed to get around 70-72c. However, when I click "Apply & Test" in Ryzen Master, my CPU will jump to almost 90c (over 90c with my 212 Evo) and my CPU wattage jumps to over 90w. When I am idling, sometimes my CPU jump from its normal 32-33c temp to 45-50c completely randomly. I am including some pictures of my stress tests: -Picture 1 is doing "Apply & Test" on Ryzen Master -Picture 2 is CPU-Z -Picture 3 is also CPU-Z but with no overclock (all others are slightly overclocked). -Picture 4 is Furmark CPU Burner with no overclock Is this normal, or is there something very wrong with my cooling and/or CPU? I never really see these temps in any games, but it does get awfully high when playing a more taxing game like RE4 (74c usually). Is there something I can do to get these temps down? Reapply my thermal paste? Take my waterblock off of the splitter I have and plug it straight into the CPU-FAN header (and plugging in the Rad fans to my chasis header)? For context: I just recently updated to Windows 11, and updated all my drivers too to see if that would fix any of these issues and it hasn't. I also noticed that stock voltages going to my CPU in Ryzen Master are 1.41875 V. 19. Hey everyone, I have a problem with my Asus ROG Strix 2080 Super ("ROG-STRIX-RTX2080S-O8G-GAMING"). For a while now, I'm unable to, for example, play a game (Destiny 2, GTA 5, Elite Dangerous,...) and watch a video (mostly Youtube) at the same time. The video just loads/stutters/stops/is unwatchable. I've noticed in HWInfo that in those situations the GPU temperature is around 65-70°C but the GPU-hotspot temperature is always around 105°C and the card is thermal throttling. Even when just having Chrome and HWInfo open right now, there is a difference of about 20°C. From what I've read a ~20-40°C difference between average and hotspot can't be good. I haven't OCd the card or changed anything besides a more aggressive fan curve. My first step then was to clean the card as good as possible and adjust the fan curves, but with no result. Now my second step was to go to a small PC repair shop nearby to have the thermal pads + -paste renewed (I know I could've done it myself, but I didn't want any chance of damaging the card). I just got the card back from them, but the card is only 2°C cooler (both average and hotspot) than before. That leads me to believe that either the paste wasn't the problem and I just wasted 30€ or I was ripped off and they didn't do anything. This can't be the normal behaviour of the card, is it? At least that's not what I'm expecting from a XX80-level GPU. My problems are therefore: I can't play a game and watch a video at the same time and the difference between avg. temp. and hotspot temp. is too big/the hotspot gets too hot. System specs: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X Memory: 32GB DDR4-3600 GPU: Asus ROG Strix 2080 Super (currently using Nvidia "Game Ready" Driver 535.98, although I also had the problem with earlier drivers) PSU: Corsair RM 750X (750W 80+Gold) Case: BeQuiet Dark Base Pro 900 rev. 2 Windows 10 64-bit (21H1) 1 * 2560x1440@165Hz + 2 * 1920x1080@60Hz screens What else can I do? Thanks in advance!
  20. I am building my second pc, this time I want to squeeze out as much performance out of it as possible. This means optimal fan config. Here is the parts list, https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gdQKyK (i did not pay $1000 for the gpu, bought it used for $270, planning to upgrade to 5070 when it releases). I don't know a lot about fan config, but I know that it can help with optimising performance, even if its only for 5fps more. I might buy more fans if that is ABSOLUTELY neccessary. :)
  21. Hello everyone, I've just upgraded my rig and mounted it on a wall using just plain chassis (not a closed case). The temperatures seem fine...well since I've upgraded to Ryzen 7600 the temps are anything but fine, but nevermind the CPU. I fear the most for the chipset since there is no air flow except for the few times when PSU starts blowing its hot air over it. I've noticed that the chipsets ''heatsink'' is (in my opinion) hot to touch, but HWiNFO64 is telling me that it is not. Except for the mysterious T0 temperature (mind that all this is in idle). I've searched and googled and haven't found satisfying answer to what the T0 should be measuring nor at what temperature range should be the chipset running. Sadly I do not have thermal camera or any other external measuring device to check it with. What is this T0? How careful should I be with this open rig regarding temperatures?
  22. Hello, Apparently my CPU (Intel Core i7 8700) had been running higher temps the past year, spiking 80°C-90°C. The idle was around 66°C-70°C. I've been cleaning the case, changing thermal paste, switching air flow...nothing really made effect (tho when I used two opposite air flow directions on top chassis fans, with left one blowing in, and right one blowing out, temps did drop by 5°C) And then, I've touched the Process Power management, capping the Maximum processor state to 95% and suddenly CPU temp dropped to 40-45°C...under load! Considering I feel no change in performance, still play 2 emulators + browser + games at the same time, I personally think a trade off between lowering a bit the Maximum processor state and much cooler CPU is in my solid advantage. But why did it happen like so? What Maximum processor state do you use for your CPU? Which is the best setting? For those who wonder, I've turned overclocking years ago.
  23. Ok so what I'd like to do is very simple yet iCue makes it stupid. As of now I have my home keys (insert, home, pageup/dwn,del,end) as my cpu temp "monitor". That is, 55 green, 65 yellow, and 75 red. System is watercooled. None the less, id like to have a little more accurate "readout". Instead I'd like to use my F-keys, or even ESC-BRK as a temperature thermometer of sorts. Say im at 65c on my cpu, id like it to go up to F6, leaving the remaining keys white (who cares). say it goes up to 70c, then it goes to F7, 80, F8 and so on. Whatever I can work out the scale later. Naturally id like a color gradient too, that is 65 being green and progressing to red (and further down the F keys) should my CPU get that hot. Has anybody been able to achieve this? I been googling around and best I found was what i have already done. Nothing along the lines of a "thermometer" of sorts spanning across a dozen keys. Thanks a bunch peeps!
  24. Made my first attempt at a mini-IXT build (part list here) and it's working great so far but it was louder than I'd like. I installed the low-noise adapter on the CPU fan and am now getting higher temps - peaking at 90 degrees when I run a Prime95 stress test. This stress test is obviously well beyond what my regular workload will be (use this computer for music production), but I want to make sure I'm not putting any crazy kind of wear on the CPU. Can I get away with results like this or do you think I have to ditch the low-noise adapter? Thanks in advance. (Green line is CPU Package, blue is CPU Average)
  25. Hello, first time posting here. I was wondering what in your opinion is tue best thermal pads, paste, and Liquid Metal for Pc use. From what I found most companies like thermal grizzly make all these claims but don’t actually give the numbers or even have their product be sold by any retailers
