Quite a while ago, I experimented with using Bluetooth headphones and found the connection buggy/laggy. For that, I have stuck on to using wired equipment. These days however, more wireless headphones, peripherals, or even speakers are coming up. I came across this and Plantronics BackBeat PRO Wireless headphones and the GO2. So how reliable is Bluetooth these days? Is it that great that it can cover long distances without becoming buggy and connection being iffy? As a curious question, remember back when there is a huge concern about cellphone radiation? Has there been issues for Bluetooth, if say someone were to wear bluetooth handsfree devices all day?!?

Hello Disciples of the almighty Linus! I want to share my story with the beautiful LTT community about how Linus helped me get my life back on track. It all started a little less than 3 years ago. I had just started high school, but I had no direction. I used to be interested in automobiles, but I had started to lose track. This, combined with the fact that I had started to live alone, without any parents and the constant increase in bullying (being 200 pounds at the start of high school doesn't help) as well as sack of shit best friends meant that I started to get depressed, for the lack of a better word. Now, nobody in family actually knew any of this (and for the most part, they still don't now), so my grandpa got me a birthday gift that would change my life forever, for the good and the bad; a new laptop. This was the first ever PC that I could call my own. I started a Facebook account and everything because the few friends I had told me to. But social media just made me feel even sadder at life. I was constantly contemplating suicide whenever I saw my bullies and bullshit excuses of best friends having fun, going to parties and just generally hanging out. It got to the point that I started drinking. Underage drinking. (though it only lasted a couple of days) My grades were going down faster than ever. My self-esteem was going down even faster. So I decided to start a YT account. At first I only watched videos from creators like Smosh, FreddieW etc. to cheer myself up. But they only helped while I was watching the videos. Once the videos had finished, I always felt a sudden rush of emptiness and self-hatred again. Then I found out about the tech community. At first I watched videos from people like MKBHD, Austin Evans (or Duncan33303). I saw phone reviews and all that kind of stuff. This kept me interested and got me into technology. But none of this still helped my 'situation'. Then I eventually found LinusTechTips. And my life has never been the same again. I got so interested into technology that whenever I would get to meet my mom, usually twice a year for a week or so at a time, I always got something new for my laptop. And before I knew it, my bed had turned into a proper workstation. I finally found something to live for. Today, I still don't have any real friends. I still weigh 100+ KG. And I still just keep locked up in my room. But I now have purpose. I feel like people now actually talk to me, even if it is only about AMD vs Nvidia (TEAM GREEN BABY). I finally found a purpose to life, and I have to thank Mr. Linus Sebastian for that. And @LinusTech, if you're reading this, please know that whatever I can do to repay you, I will. You will always have a special place in my heart because you're my only saviour. Ta.

Hello there! c: I am going to be starting college in about 4 months, but before that I need a laptop. The university offers a laptop, but they charge me $4,000 dollars for it. Here's what comes with the bundle: HP 8770w 17.3" Laptop, Intel i7-3610QM processor, 12GB of RAM, 128GB hard drive, 500GB SATA secondary hard drive, FirePro M4000 ATI graphic card Microsoft Visio, Project and Visual Studios 2013 (Which by they way, I have Visio and Project, and you can get Visual Studios for free...) So... Due to the fact that I have those programs and that computer looks a big crappy for that price, I was wondering what LAPTOP to get. I specifically need a LAPTOP, not a desktop. So, on my "quest" I found the CyberPowerPC Fangbook EVO Hx7-300. Here's a link to the costume one I selected - http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/saved/1FY6H5 Months passed and the GTX 800m series came out, soooo I looked up, and sure enough Asus has a badass laptop. Here's the link - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834231633 So, question is.... Which one is the best out of the 2? I am leaning toward the Asus. Should I go with the University one? (Which seems... crappy. They don't force you to get it, you can opt out.) Lastly, any more options that you can give me will be appreciated. last but not least thank you, and I doubt I will go for an Alienware, just in case anyone mentions it since they're overpriced as fuck.

Heyo fellow LTT'lers, I'm in a bit of a dilemma right now because i have to do a presentation about display technology due to tuesday. It has to be around 20 min long and should cover the important parts about displays and everything. The problem is, that i dont know what i should put in there. I'd would be very nice of ya'll if you could suggest me some topics i shouold cover in that presentation so i can do some more research on that (or maybe you guys have some things i could put in there directly) Thanks and have a nice Sunday! - Flo Edit: It all goes together in relation to solid-state-technology

While I am waiting for Smite to install I though I would post this - I've done a few stupid things which I should have looked into more or should have known better. Here are some as far as I can remember: When I followed a tutorial on how to install arch Linux, I did not realize that it went on to completely formatting the drive, so I lost everything. I recently rooted my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 tablet to update from Android 4.0.3 to Android Omni 4.4.2 and is was very successful; I had to keep replugging in the headphones every time an app opened because the sound stops working for some reason, but apart from that it works fine. The problem is that I encrypted it later on and now the recovery shows up the Internal drive having no storage left along with being completely unaccessable. I heavily used my old laptop for gaming and for only having a GT 445M it handles very well, but I let it reach 100oC on the GPU one time. You really could feel the heat emitting. I took the laptop apart to find the thermal compound has melted, thankfully though it is still going strong with no sign of ever dieing. But, the most stupid thing I have ever done is buy a PC from PC World... You should never buy PCs from PC world.

If you were in a position of power (Legislative branch, Royal Family, President, Prime Minister, The Right Honourable the Lord Mayor, etc.), what would you do that would advance technology? Realistically speaking, of course. That could be offering sweetheart loans, federal mandates, etc. Since I live in the United States, I would tackle the problem of internet connectivity and speed. Set up a multi-billion dollar loan program for some number of years, with low-interest loans to telecoms that would use it to construct or bolster their existing infrastructure to increase speeds to a mandated minimum (probably around 20-30 Mbit) and to expand coverage without increasing prices. Much in the same way that the original railroad systems were built with sweetheart government deals.

Hi guys, Firstly, this video. Now, one very important thing to note is that this stuff flakes off when exposed to Sunlight (Ultraviolet radiation) for extended periods. You can buy it at Home Depot for about $20 a can. I want it. So bad. It can go on ALL THE THINGS. Maybe not plates or utensils to eat with, but the floor, my kitchen counters (where food is not supposed to be prepared), my mouse, my keyboard (so I can just dunk it in water to clean it). Here are some more videos to show it off: Super Hydrophobic spray-on coating. It is Oleophobic too. (Like it is with water, but with Oil.) Will this be the next Asbestos? Not sure. But it is fricking cool.

A couple of guys in Germany have started an indiegogo for creating every network technicians wet dream. This is great for guys wanting to troubleshoot links and test cables. Part of me wishes that It had more than 1 ethernet port.. As linus would say, ~ "UNT ONLY 1 OPTION" hehe. I bought one even though I have a z10. If it doesn't work out then so be it. So long story short, I'm not in the US right now and where I'm at temporarily prices are really inflated and buying here is not an option, so please don't ask about that. My uncle will be in the US, specifically in Milwaukee, FL in around a month I was just wondering if anyone knew a good place to buy parts (processor, mobo, gpu, etc) in person, meaning he will physically drive there, buy it and take it in person, then giving it back to me when he comes back. If you do know a place please do post a website or location, to further pin point it down, just to make things easier for my uncle, as I will be e-mailing him the parts I need, and also some alternatives in case he can't find them. Appreciate any help.

The company which makes advanced physics engines for the natural motion of humans and all sorts of animals, and a handful of games, has been bought by Zynga! NaturalMotion's Euphoria engine has been used in a number of games including Rockstar's most recent titles: GTA IV, GTA V, Red Dead Redemption, and Max Payne 3; and Star Wars: the force unleashed 1 and 2. This should help Zynga along, especially with such big Devs. like Rockstar buying from them. But I don't know what to make of this: Is this good or bad for NaturalMotion? Will NaturalMotion have to submit to Zynga's commands? Will Zynga be stupid and not allow other companies, like Rockstar, access to their "new technology" ? What do you think about this? link to a BBC article, although it's all over the web anyway. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-25973764

Hi Guys, So I've been on holiday in America and Hawaii for over a month. This means I've been away from my beloved Larry the Leviathen (my gaming PC :P), wonderful mechanical keyboard and corsair M60. I've been internet-ing on my Macbook pro and haven't ben able to play Skyrim or BF3 all this time and it's killing me. I've been craving some good solid game time, but it just hasn't been possible. Also the separation of me from the internet for most days (when we're out doing things) has caused me to pull far too many all nighters staying up on the internet. I do like to spend a lot of my time gaming or on the internet. I don't think this is unhealthy however as I still enjoy bike rides and going outside and being with friends. I play squash and I'm very healthy apart from the amount of time I spend on the computer. My questions for you to discuss are Are you addicted to anything tech related? Do you enjoy time away from technology? Do you think being addicted to tech is unhealthy? bchampion96 (LurkerLAG)

Hi guys, Just putting this here in case he misses it: @Ghost As the title says, is there a way to set up my pump to speed up when I use my PC more (such as when I am gaming or whatever) and to slow down when I am just browsing the web/watching youtube? I would not want it running at 100% or whatever speed I set it to all the time as, in my mind, that would decrease it's overall life span. I imagine there may be software to do this. Thanks, Vitalius

Again, with my style of long posts on here, you don't have to read, you can just answer the question in the subject. And since most of the replies I will get are from people who have seen my posts, you know that this shit goes deep. For those who want to sit there and agree with me so we can all agree with each other over our outrage at today's youth, then go ahead and read and then tell me how much you agree with me. I was at the St. Louis Zoo today with my 3 nephews (17, 7, and 2) and my niece (4). The 3 younger ones were having the best time running aroun and yelling at the animals. My 16 year old nephew on the other hand was constantly on his phone texting with his friends. I told him that I didn't pay money so he could sit on the benches texting. On the way home I asked them all if they had fun. The little ones didn't answer because they were asleep from all the excitement. The teenager said that he was bored. And then when we got out into the rural country where their house is, his 4G turned off and he made a sigh and then sat there not knowing what to do next. When we got home I made them dinner and when it was time for dinner, the teenager brought his phone to the table. THAT AIN'T GONNA FLY WITH ME! He reluctantly gave up the phone after I threatened to call his mother (who is in Italy for a week because they have Italy money) Do you guys think that there should be a time and place where we go "low-tech" for a while and just have human interactions and relationships? I love my smart phone, I am on it a lot. I love social networking. I follow Linus on Twitter along with some other awesome people, and I am always on there posting funny links to my family and friends. I love technology so much that I want to make it a career. BUT! when it is time to eat, sleep, be with family, or focus in class, the last thing I want to hear is a phone going off or hear the clicking of a phone keyboard. Am I just a cantankerous old 27 year old? Am I going to be the guy with the radar detector yelling at cars as they drive by?

"Apple has patented a piece of technology which would allow government and police to block transmission of information, including video and photographs, from any public gathering or venue they deem “sensitive”, and “protected from externalities.”" Source/article: http://rt.com/news/apple-patent-transmission-block-408/ Sounds really worrying to me, it might be a good thing to protect sensitive photos/videos from getting out but at what point is it limiting freedom?

Story at /. Well this sounds awesome. I can only assume that as the Mobile market pushes such high capacity things, the Desktop/PC side will inevitably get cheaper and cheaper. This bodes well for PC gamers. Imagine SSD storage at HDD prices. Do not get overly hopeful of course. There are likely obstacles to overcome, but I can imagine this will definitely have an affect on such things, if only mild.

I'm a university student with no prior work experience, but consider myself pretty competent around technology. Question 1: What types of entry level jobs would you recommend I apply for? (tech related) Question 2: Do you have a job/career in tech? If so, what?

Hi guys! I am PatoWazHir (Pato), some years ago, I started a project called FriGeeks, a page focused on gaming/technology/otaku/general interests.. The project originally started in Spanish, but we discovered the great market that the English language market offers. We've found that is really hard to compete and to maintain the interest of the viewers, but we've done our best. Our projects consist in: YouTube Channel with gameplays, reviews, comments and unboxings. Online radio broadcasting. A vivid and rich blog page A lively Facebook page Support to the community and Feedback: Tutorials and General help. Right now, our Facebook page is going really well, with over +500 likes we've seen some support from the audience, the blog page however, has a small number of posts, mainly because it hasn't received as much traffic as we expected. Obviously that won't keep us from writing more reviews and news! We're looking for guys interested in the Geek theme, that want to share their knowledge and participate within our little family. Also, we'd like some feedback or opinions from your part, every comment is welcome! Thanks for reading PatoWazHir FriGeeks Staff Links: - www.facebook.com/frigeeks - frigeeks.wordpress.com - https://www.youtube.com/user/FriGeeks P.S.: Some content is still in Spanish, but that'll change in the next weeks. Anyone interested feel free to send an email to frigeeks@live.com, or send us a Message in Facebook, also you can PM me to my personal Facebook account: PatoWazHir

http://www.theverge.com/2014/2/20/5430784/project-tango-google-prototype-smartphone-announced http://www.google.com/atap/projecttango/ So here's what I got from this: Google wants to beef up their Map service, but they know that they can't do it alone, so they're having us help them, which I don't necessarily mind doing. I mean, precise directions from location X to location Y? That's the whole point of Maps, so this is just a way to make it even better. Oh, and think of all of the AR gaming possibilities with this... As of right now, this is just a prototype phone, so it's not like it's an app or something, which is interesting, because it could be, at least I think it could be. I dunno. Maybe whatever technology Google is using in Project Tango will be implemented on other phones in the future. So what do you think about this?

Hi All, I was thinking: What with new gaming tech and new ways to interact with games constantly being thought of and brought out - things like Oculus Rift, Steam Machines, PlayStation Now, etc - how do you guys think all this stuff will affect gaming in the future? This could be from 6 months down the line to 10 years. In a few years could we all be sat in front of a box which streams game content from dedicated servers with a VR headset on playing a 4K game? Or is this all something that developers won't bother with? Though that brings me onto another question, what technology will people actually ADOPT that will affect gaming in the future? Sure VR might be great but if people don't buy it then it won't be worked on in games and it'll eventually fade out. Anyway, I was just interested to hear other peoples' thoughts on this. Thanks,
