The Pew Research Center published a report in which a majority of experts agree that our current expectations of digital privacy may be completely gone by 2025. More than 2,500 experts weighed in on security, liberty and privacy online and whether there will be a "trusted privacy-rights infrastructure" in place by 2025 that lets people protect their personal data easily. One respondent suggested that as the Internet continues to expand, the very idea of privacy will become a fringe activity. Overall, 2,511 respondents weighed in on the following questions: Security, liberty, privacy online Will policy makers and technology innovators create a secure, popularly accepted, and trusted privacy-rights infrastructure by 2025 that allows for business innovation and monetization while also offering individuals choices for protecting their personal information in easy-to-use formats? elaborate the answer.Describe what you think the reality will be in 2025 when it comes to the overall public perception about whether policy makers and corporations have struck the right balance between personal privacy, secure data, and compelling content and apps that emerge from consumer tracking and analytics. Of the respondents, 55% said no, that will not happen, while 45% found this a reasonable outcome. They all agreed, however, that there is something inherently public about the Internet. Currently only about 33% of websites use HTTPS, according to statistics gathered by the Trustworthy Internet Movement which monitors the way sites use more secure browsing technologies. there are three basic transport layer security states for web origins: Secure (valid HTTPS, other origins like (*, localhost, *)); Dubious (valid HTTPS but with mixed passive resources, valid HTTPS with minor TLS errors); Non-secure (broken HTTPS, HTTP). HTTPS uses well-established cryptographic systems to scramble data as it travels from a user's computer to a website and back again. A Bugs Life.. Damn Humans.. Dr. Alper Bozkurt and Matt Shipman Two researchers from iBionics (soon to be sewed by apple) labs North Carolina State University are experimenting a quite unique way of searching for survivors. The medium involves two subjects to function, an insectobot connected to a small, audio-sensing cyborg harness & our faithful beloved mini flying drone or a controlled flying moths.. How do they work: First thing is the roaches which carry microphone that can capture high-resolution sound from any direction to be wireless transmitted is set free into the rubble, Following that a mini drone or a similarly controlled flying moth is set loose & it hovers over space where the signal is being send from , idea is to let loose these critters over a disaster area where they can crawl down the nooks & crannies of the rubble where rescuers have a hard time reaching the victims , where as the bugs can reach & locates the helpless victim & can help target the rescuers efficiently & save a heck of a lot time reaching the victims.. The microphone essentially captures sound waves from from victims who are in pain or use the high resolution audio throughput to analyze the breathing noises from an unconscious victim & as in an echolocation it nears its distance towards the victim Mean while the same time the drone that is flying above follows the critters path & hovers over the exact same spot & afterwards it has reached near the victims exact location it sends out a confirmation signal & rescuers can get to them in time Video Demo! hi I'm a Pc & I'm a Mac The researchers have also created a sort of invisible fence that keeps bugs within a rescue area by controlling their motions. They are also adding solar power cells so they can work autonomously for days at a time. so they just don't wander off after they'd been released.. Safe Search Finallly Google officials are in talks in developing a Kids safe version of their ever popular search engine , The site is mainly aimed for Kids that are 12 & Below, The News Comes courtesy of USA today with an interview with Googles VP of engineering, who is being tasked with leading Google's upcoming initiative to make their suite of products, from Gmail to YouTube into a more kid friendly user experience. beginning next year 2015 the tech giant plans to create specific versions of its most popular products for those 12 and younger. The most likely candidates are those that are already popular with a broad age group, such as search, YouTube and Chrome. Google will make them safe for children 12 years old and younger and give parents tools to oversee their kids' actions the Google search engine isn't remotely the same as an adult's. (nope duh) Controversy may well follow in the wake of Google's drive. While tech companies are always seeking out new markets, which in turn expand their user base and ultimately drive up revenue, traditionally kids younger than 13 have been off limits. company expects some controversy over the change, but that kids are already using Google's non-kid-friendly technology. Watch out Ubisoft..There's a new digger in town.. PS4 Users have been complaining about shareplay being disabled for COD:AW , at first it was rumored to be a region specific lock, Later sources have revealed that this is just all out worldwide block on shareplay for COD :AW , Share Play is apparently blocked out entirely, regardless of region. Users who try to share the play with a friend will get a message that says the following: “The host’s game screen is not displayed because the current scene is a blocked scene for Share Play. Wait until the blocked scene is finished.” Activision representative gave this statement to 'polygon' website who made an inquiry to the cause of it being blocked.. Sony designed the feature so certain elements of games such as the licensed music or a game cutscenes that can spoil the game game plot for the user could be blocked, so that it would not cause any problems with the industry with copyright slaps from higher up the ladder, but Activision seems to be the first company to block an entire game. According to an interview with a sony representative Share Play access is completely at the mercy of developers. Its their choice, and it's very probable that Call of Duty won't be the last game to block the feature What is SharePlay? (a detailed look) Share Play allows two PS4 owners to play the same single copy of a game over the Internet. The owner is designated as the host, and can stream gameplay footage to a guest console. The host can relinquish control of the game to the guest too, effectively giving another user the chance to play without paying. Sony added Share Play to the PS4 in system software update 2.0 which went out last week While Share Play is limited to sixty minutes per session, users can return to the mode immediately after the time ends. There is no cap on Share Play sessions either, meaning that a game can effectively be shared indefinitely. Game publishers and developers already have the ability to restrict the PS4's Share button functionality or block it altogether. For example, video shared from NBA 2K14 includes no sound, because the game uses licensed music, Also sharing can be disabled for cutscenes that a developer considers to contain spoilers. According to Wall street journal , Andy Rubin Is Leaving Google , Starting an Incubator for Startups Interested in Building Technology-Hardware Products , Andy Rubin, the co-founder and former leader of Android who switched recently to Google's robotics division, Rubin was Android’s leader from its inception in 2003, through its acquisition by Google in 2005, until Rubin was moved out of Android in 2013. During that time, he shepherded Android from its tiny startup days to the world’s most popular mobile operating system. Andy Rubin is considered the father of android.. Rubin is the co-founder and former CEO of both Danger Inc. & Android.Inc. When Rubin left Android, he was replaced by Sundar Pichai, who already oversaw Chrome and Apps. Larry handed oversight of most of Google’s products to Pichai last week. Rubin moved to Google’s robotics division, where he oversaw robotics companies that Google owned, like Boston Dynamics. Google confirmed the departure to us with a prepared statement from Google CEO Larry Page: “I want to wish Andy all the best with what’s next. With Android he created something truly remarkable with a billion plus happy users. Thank you.” At Google as head of Android, Rubin was known for insulating the Android team from the rest of Google maintaining it like a separate company inside the search giant. Do you even rift bro? Oculus VR CEO Brendan Iribe said at a conference in Ireland today that the current developer model, code-named Crescent Bay, is "largely finalized for a consumer product." Brendan Iribe (Oculus CEO) Iribe says the company has changed significantly since it was acquired by Facebook in March. Operating as an independent subsidiary, Oculus has grown from 75 people to over 200 employees and now operates a separate R&D division. Google announced that It marks the first time a city in an Arab country will be added to the google street view feature.Now You can now see some of the tallest buildings in the world on Google Street View. Because google Google began mapping the city earlier this year, but took a break in the summer to avoid the city's infamous haze and ensure clear photos. why is the wheel hub censored? Google earlier on made headlines by launching street view by Camel & mapped out parts of the Liwa Desert in the Emirates The Street View maps cover new places like Sheikh Zayed Road, the longest street in the United Arab Emirates and the enormous Dubai Mall as well historical sites like the Deira Spice Souk and Dubai Creek. pretty cool info, do post your comments down below.. Apple and Bose appear to have worked out disagreements as it was confirmed that their headphones & speakers will be featured back on Apple stores later next year..Bose-branded products disappeared from Apple’s website on October 17th without explanation from either party involved Bose Soundlink 3 Bose’s return to Apple’s retail stores follows a hiatus that lasted over a month in which the high-quality headphones and speakers were pulled from both Apple’s online and retail stores without explanation. we are the champions..wait, that's the other 'queen'.. on the 5th December in a landmark judgement on the compatibility of the regimes which govern GCHQ’s interception of communications and receipt of information from foreign partners, with the European Convention on the right to privacy and freedom of speech. The IPT, a judicial body which investigates and determines complaints against the UK intelligence agencies, reached its findings after a series of open and closed hearings. Amnesty UK's legal advisor Rachel Logan said the government had "managed to bluff their way out of the case" by "retreating into closed hearings and constantly playing the 'national security' card". The case was brought against HMG by a range of non-governmental organisations, following the leaks of stolen information by former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden. They include Privacy, Liberty and Amnesty International, alongside a number of other non UK based bodies. One of the prominent case was about Webcam watching ,The Privacy International pressure group had said the documents released by Mr Snowden detailed the many ways that GCHQ was spying on people, many of which violated the European Convention on Human Rights. the civil rights advocates that filed the complaint (including Amnesty UK, Liberty and Privacy International) aren't happy with this verdict. They plan to appeal the decision with the European Court itself, The Tribunal agrees that unchecked mass data collection would be illegal, but contends that the ways GCHQ selects and preserves that data are reasonable The IPT’s further findings are as follows: Developments in communications technology have not made any of the provisions within RIPA ambiguous or unfit for purpose No difference of view as to the precise definition of external communications causes the RIPA 8(4) regime to be unlawful There is no inadequacy in the section 16 safeguards within RIPA as alleged by the claimants the RIPA 8(4) regime is not discriminatory Five senior legal professionals concluded that the legal regimes governing the interception of communications under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA) 2000 are lawful and compliant with Articles 8 (right to privacy) and 10 (freedom of expression) of the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR). Similarly, it concluded that the arrangements governing the receipt of intercept from foreign partners are lawful and meet the requirements of Articles 8 and 10 of the ECHR. Guess what?.. Scientist have developed technique where a single-shot compressed ultrafast photography is taken at one hundred billion frames per second That is 100000000000 fps. The Technique is called compressed ultrafast photography (CUP) & it's a two-dimensional dynamic imaging technique, Don't Blink.. The Camera is , as you guessed is not an ordinary camera but a specialy designed industrial strength high-speed camera.The Purpose for the camera build is for to track light as it travels and interacts with objects , so nor regular time warp application Researchers used the technique to explore phenomenas such as how light reflects and refracts, as well as how photons behave when transitioning from one medium to another One of the purposes for the build is to Study Invisibility Cloaks, you heard that right , The camera is so fast that it can actually capture light in it's path (in 2d) what they plan to do with t the technology is to study how light intereacts & behaves on & around certain object , by learning that they can research into light interactive fabric that can behave that can bend around fabric making the object literally invisible to the naked eye.. Soon this could be a reality.. CUP System Configuration: camera setup Explanation of the image above: With CUP, the photons necessary to take an image are blasted through a beam splitter and then through a tube that has several tiny mirrors. All of this happens in one billionth of a second, and the data can then be arranged into a video on a computer Strictly speaking this is not the fastest camera in the world still..the fastest in the world as of now can capture images upto trillionth frames per second that camera was able to capture stunning picture of heat conduction, but that had so many limitations unlike this one. if only it could capture images in this 3d format The technology is impressive and quite complex. Previous cameras could record at roughly a billion frames a second, but could only do so in one dimension that meant you could measure space or time, but not both. And it was slower, anyway. Compared with existing ultrafast imaging techniques, CUP has the prominent advantage of measuring an x–y–t (x, y, spatial coordinates & t is time) scene with a single camera snapshot, thereby allowing observation of transient events with temporal resolution as tens of picoseconds. Furthermore, akin to traditional photography, CUP is receive-only, and so does not need the specialized active illumination required by other single-shot ultrafast images Captured ultra fast image of a laser beam shot into different medium: By the way PS equals picoseconds ie One trillionth (10^-12) of a second. Iran has in the past denied that it was working on such services, although it has, ultimately, continued to work on ways to restrict Internet access. The model number listed in the screenshot is the European version of the phone, A lot of people saying it's just as the same as the previous version with very little difference compared to an S5.
