  1. it's been 10 years since the most epic MMO was introduced to this world WOW!, In order to celebrate World of Warcraft’s 10-year anniversary Blizzard has created a special in-game event that begins Friday, November 21st and lasts until Tuesday, January 6th, 2015. The event consists of the three activities Maximum Molten Core One of WoW’s classic 40-player dungeons, Molten Core, will be available in Raid Finder during the anniversary period for level 100 players. Making it through the underground gauntlet and defeating Ragnaros will reward players with a Core Hound mount and a Warlords of Draenor Raid Finder–quality helm (100% guaranteed!). Southshore vs. Tarren Mill—The Battle Continues To recapture the feeling of the endless tug-of-war of early WoW PvP, we’ll be opening a Team Deathmatch–style Battleground based on the timeless struggle between Southshore and Tarren Mill. We’ll have two different brackets for players to take part in: one for levels 90–99 characters and another for level 100. Unlike the old days of Tarren Mill vs. Southshore, there will be a clearly defined victor, so you’ll need to work as a team or face crushing defeat. A win will gain you a shiny new title: either Tarren Mill Terror for the Alliance or Southshore Slayer for the Horde. Onward into Warlords of Draenor With the release of Warlords of Draenor, all unrated PvP Battlegrounds, Skirmishes, and other unrated PvP activities will be available immediately. The new rated season will begin Tuesday, December 2 at 8 a.m. PST. We also wanted to make sure that everyone had time to level up before we opened our first Raid dungeon, Highmaul, in Normal and Heroic modes. These will open at the same time as the rated PvP season (December 2), with Raid Finder and Mythic modes opening the following week. We’ll provide a complete schedule in the future for those who wish to start planning their new Raid calendars. Blizzard is also throwing in a free Molten Corgi pet for anyone who logs in to World of Warcraft during this period. The latest World of Warcraft expansion, Warlords of Draenor will be released on November 13th, shortly before the 10- year anniversary event kicks in.. http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/15787801/preparing-to-launch-warlords-of-draenor-celebrate-10-years-of-world-of-warcraft-9-10-2014 http://www.loadthegame.com/2014/09/12/world-warcraft-10-year-anniversary-event-detailed-blizzard/
  2. QuantumMDx a medical equipment manufacture company has come up with a prototype of a rather interesting device, the device is still in prototype but will be released earlier than expected*, a working model of the device was announced by the company earlier this week , the device is playfully nick named Q-POC handheld laboratory, Currently it can recognize diseases such as STD , Ebola, HIV , Malaria , The device requires blood sample to work, only one drop of blood is required for the analysis, the device currently takes about 15-20 minutes time to accurately scan the DNA for known diseases, the device has a touch screen & device itself cost close to 1000+$ , the detection time is pretty good compared to a fully fledged laboratory with similar tech, the cartridge that requires in order to detect the thread per use is about 100+$ Data can be exchanged & studied by scientists everywhere, Pretty Cool huh? Post your thoughts & comments down below...& it'd be cool o see you leave a like if you liked this post..
  3. Developing across multiple browsers and devices is the main issue developers have when building applications , The Firefox team(mozilla) build a solution, originally they built this feature to connect Firefox, Firefox on Android and Firefox OS. This add-on is a new implementation of the Firefox Developer Tools Protocol. Rather than interfacing directly with content, it speaks to the remote debugging protocol surfaced by Chrome and iOS. This implementation is hosted inside the Firefox process, and used internally by the Firefox Developer Tools. The tools include an inspector, debugger and console News Link : https://hacks.mozilla.org/2014/09/firefox-tools-adapter/ Tools / Support link : https://github.com/campd/fxdt-adapters
  4. MEh.. Well, Not bad.. According to newly released documents* , Road tests which was conducted on Googles autonomous cars on 2012 was released earlier his week, The Cars have been tested only once by a government body on open roads by Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) officials in May 2012 & the test was under the controlled enviorment of google officials & NDMV(Nevada department of motor Vehicles) agreed to the terms * IEEE Spectrum obtained the driving log of this test and e-mails referring to it under Freedom of Information legislation Drive Test: The test took place on may 1 2012 in Las Vegas , Chris Urmson head of the Google's self driving card project was behind the driver seat in an event if anything ever went wrong, next to him Anthony Levandowski the engenieer & on the backseat was the Nevada's examiners (One was Bruce Breslow ,a sportscaster and politician who was then head of the DMV.The other, Nancy Wojcik, is in charge of testing and licensing for the state) The examiners would grade Google’s car in every scenario, determining whether it operated fully autonomously, needed some assistance from Urmson, or completely handed control over to Urmson. The final check box would show which situations the car had faced During the 22-km test drive. At one point, a bicycle weaved in front of the car. The car backed off before passing the cyclist safely. The Prius also correctly anticipated a pedestrian running across the street. Construction work, however, proved trickier When faced with a partially blocked-off road, the car switched between autonomous and manual modes and then braked to a halt, requiring Urmson, the safety driver, to take control. Test Drive Conditions: Before the test, Google had written: “It will be hard to anticipate if the proposed demonstration will encounter several important environmental conditions: rain, snow/ice, fog, and heavy crosswinds. Additionally, the vehicles currently do not operate in snow, ice, or dense fog.” Luckily, Google’s driving software proved better than its weather forecasting. Temperatures in Las Vegas in May average a scorching 31 °C (88 °F), with almost zero chance of rain or fog. Google provided Nevada with written assurances that its vehicles had coped well with rain in California and that they could also operate safely at roundabouts and other road features that did not figure in the Nevada test. Here's some of the Key highlights from the report : Following the Las Vegas test, the Prius was put through its paces again in the state capital, Carson City. A DMV committee then met and approved the country’s first self-driving vehicle testing license. On 4 May 2012, the Prius was issued special gold-on-red autonomous license plates, number AU- 001.. The Nevada license expired in May 2013, Google failed to renew it for at least eight months. Aleast it can drive better than some of us Leave your thoughts & comments down below... 5. They grow up so fast..*wipes tear drop* Ubuntu means "human-ness" Bet you didn't know that one.. With the release of their new version Ubuntu 14.10 officially making this friendlier Linux distribution 10 years old , Development of Ubuntu is led by UK-based company called Canonical.Ltd. The latest version of the free desktop release is today available for download from Canonical. This release focuses on the developer experience, overall quality, and brings a number of important features and security enhancements. The Ubuntu desktop continues to be intuitive, easy to use and reliable for users all over the world The company is clearly happy with a low-key celebration; 14.10's biggest addition is a developer tool center that makes it easier to write Android apps, also the support for zero-setup printers and 64-bit ARM chips Get the latest version from here (safe link) : http://www.ubuntu.com/download Clearly this marks a historical event in the hearts of techies everywhere, especially when it had to face quite a few gruesome competition, i think Ubuntu stayed true to its core & has prevailed like no other & will keep doing so Bonus: Links...Links everywhere.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu_%28operating_system%29#History_and_development_process http://www.engadget.com/2014/10/23/ubuntu-turns-10/ http://www.ubuntu.com/ Post your thoughts & Windows rants down below..
  6. Calm yer titties down , it's just a rumor.. Sony continues to struggle in the smartphone market, and plans to drop its low-end smartphone offerings in China, Central America, South America, and additional select emerging markets. Looking ahead, Sony wants to focus on high-end devices sold in the United States, Japan and Europe, according to the unnamed sources. Sales have been sluggish due to the rapid growth of cheap products from Chinese manufacturers, prompting Sony to lower its target to 43 million units in July. The current recalibration will likely include shaving an additional several million units off the global sales target, perhaps putting it below 40 million sorry for the huge images.. cannot resize The Japanese company might cut its smartphone sales target again in 2014, with a Q2 earnings call scheduled for October 31. The company previously said it hoped to sell 50 million smartphones throughout the year, but that figure was cut to 43 million in July. Through its ongoing structural reform, in which Sony has stopped making personal computers and spun off its television business, “We are finally seeing a path back to profitability in our electronics sector,” a senior executive said. A return to the black apparently hinges on whether Sony can sell more high-priced smartphones in Japan, the United States and Europe Sony will lay off several hundred workers as part of halting sales of low-priced devices in China, the sources said. The firm will continue selling high-end devices through China Mobile Communications Corp., the nation’s largest mobile carrier, and others. Sony is considering similar measures to improve profits in other nations where Chinese makers have large market shares, such as Brazil and Argentina. Sony has made its mobile sector, which is built around smartphones, a key business that is vital to its management reform. Operating profits for the mobile sector in the fiscal year ending in March 2015 are expected to be negative, after logging a ¥12.6 billion profit the previous fiscal year. The technology world has evolved at a rapid pace, and Sony has largely been unable to keep pace with rivals. Huawei, Lenovo and Xiaomi all surpassed Sony device sales, as the cheaper Chinese rivals provide cheaper phones that have risen in popularity. 7. Get ready for the weirdest sh*t you've ever heard/seen in tech news Click With Your Leg, Scroll With Your Hips Yes, The above picture is the actual representation of how the actual full body mouse fuctions, Currently he's right clicking FYI.. Alrighty folks Back story: (no tldr , do read throught it) About a year ago the media started loudly proclaiming that “sitting is the new smoking" , the media sorta exploded with the modern lifestyle behind ever growing online usage & the amount of time a person sits in front of a PC (#irony) Scientist , Doctors & Experts said that by being sedentary for hours at a time, raises your chances of developing cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and even cancer. Problem is that if you work on IT or even on a store you needed to sit down inorder to get the job done in front of a PC,This means remaining sedentary ,human hips weren’t designed to stay rooted in a chair. There’s a lot of cartilage in there that’s meant to allow walking, hence the hip rotations that let users scroll Solution?? Introducing , Interactive Dynamic Chair Now surfing the web is like attending a new-age Pilates class. Scroll around by shifting your body’s weight from side to side. Sensors in the seat detect the pressure and angle of your tush and communicate that data to three accelerometers that measure that movement on an axis, and translate it into activity on the computer’s screen. To click, kick up your right leg. Sensors will detect that motion too. For the time being, arms and hands are unencumbered, for typing, There are plenty of future possibilities there for development Demo video: Problem is that as of now the device can’t achieve the same accuracy that other motion detection software like Kinect can. Currently the Dynamic chair is in prototype stage, but it'll be out for full on trials later this year Now searching for p0rn online got terrifyingly amusing & 100X times funnier Bonus: http://www.wired.com/2014/10/full-body-mouse-click-leg-scroll-hips/ What do you guys think? Great idea or Worst thing ever invented? Leave your thoughts & comments & rants down beloooowww.. B)
  8. Apparently Galaxy smartphone sales are slowing down.. News comes courtesy of BBC business, Samsung's mobile division, its biggest business has been struggling to maintain its dominance against rivals such as Apple and Chinese smartphone-makers Xiaomi and Lenovo. This in turn has taken a big hit towards the companies main profit window. Samsung's flagship Galaxy smartphone line has been losing market share to cheaper models that also have large screens and multiple features. The South Korean company said quarterly sales amounted to 47tn won, which was below analyst estimates for 50.3tn won. However, the operating margin declined due to increased marketing expenditure and lowered average selling price. The company said it is "preparing new smartphone line-ups featuring new materials and innovative designs, as well as a series of new mid-to-low end smartphones" as always. Samsung announced on Monday that it would spend about $15bn on a new semiconductor plant in South Korea, to meet the growing demand for memory chips. It is set to be the biggest single investment in a chip factory, and construction will begin in the first half of next year with operations due to start in 2017. The company's full financial results will be released later this month. http://www.bbc.com/news/business-29516806 Post your comments & rants down below..
  9. Not sure if tech news or off topic or general news, Nevertheless, "Science" bit*h! The second and final total lunar eclipse of 2014 will occur early Wednesday morning, just before sunrise in the Eastern Time Zone and in the middle of the night on the West Coast. The moon will appear a coppery red, so it's been called a "blood moon". Officially, the total eclipse will start at 6:25 a.m. ET (5:25 a.m. CT, 4:25 a.m. MT and 3:25 a.m. PT) and continue until 7:24 a.m. ET (4:24 a.m. PT) Science behind the 'red' moon Color shift happens because of all the sunsets and sunrises from the Earth that will reflect onto the lunar surface. (During the eclipse, although it's completely in the shadow of Earth, a bit of reddish sunlight still reaches the moon) If you're in the central or western parts of the USA, you'll see the total eclipse high in a dark sky well before sunrise , Midnight Gamers! 11. Just Apple taking things to next level.. Get ready to see some next level stuff..& boy does it look ridiculously awesome .. published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Apple's U.S Patent 855727 for a "Mobile electronic device with an adaptively responsive flexible display" describes a unique interactive device panel capable of triggering various system tasks, specifically mass media content served up in the form of MMS messages. Apple's interactive flexible device display patent was first filed for in September 2013 and credits Harry Vartanian as its inventor. The patent dates back to 2011 and was most recently assigned to a small research and engineering firm called HJ Laboratories, which was cofounded by Vartanian and Jaron Rhodes in 2008. It is unclear whether Apple purchased the patent, is licensing its claims or attained the property through an unannounced acquisition. The patent details a process by which new flexible displays can receive input triggers via bending, allowing it to send an MMS message specifically upon receiving a bending cue The system details other kinds of triggers as well including resizing and reconfiguring the display of the device to fit the new proportions of the system after its bending. The patent also talks about pairing multiple flexible displays, storing them in containers including tubes, and using them in combination with GPS triggers to activate location-based advertisements The device is capable of requesting and displaying multimedia content from a static server. In some cases, a trigger event requests data from said server be pushed to the device over the air via MMS messaging. GPS Push Trigger: The patent also describes GPS-based push triggers for localized advertisement, detection of wireless charging hubs for efficient power handling and detailed MMS messaging parameters. Apple’s acquisition of this patent might mean it’s looking at ways to shore up its own flexible display research and development efforts, or that it’s just hedging its bets against future developments. Either way, we’ll probably see something a little more sophisticated should Apple enter the flexible display device market. The patent originally belonged to a company called HJ Laboratories, however, and Apple seems to have acquired its IP before the company dissolved, as both inventors listed have now moved on to separate positions over the past few years. looks like Apple never did.. 13. Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg ( i bet you didn't knew his full name ) YouTube sensation & star of World most subscribed YouTube channel (31 million), may leave web media company Maker Studio and parent company Disney to start his own network. PewDiePie signed on with YouTube network Maker Studio, which also distributes TotalBiscuit and Yogcast, The Marker studio was acquired by Disney for a reported 500 million $ , with additional performance-based payouts of $450 million.making the total buyout at 900 million dollars.. After a legal dispute with the multi-channel network (MCN) Machinima, is now part of Maker Studios Pewdiepie recently stated that he may leave web media company Maker Studio and parent company Disney to start his own network. With over 31 million YouTube subscribers ,PewdiePie is one of the most important personalities at Maker Studios , PewDiePie brings in about 4 million in ad revenue on which marker studios have a cut on, EDIT: The move is set for him to create his own studio & to help upcoming rising YouTuber's under his set company, this will be a great benefit for those who are being slaughtered by those who are under unfair studio contracts, RWJ also did this & later he had to allegedly drop off his channel, Wonder what's gonna happen to pewds if he goes with this decision.. Pewds shared his recent brush with the marker studio , Pewds criticized the big MCNs for being inhospitable to the average YouTuber, For instance , Disney recently sent over a bunch of people dressed as Stormtroopers to make a video together with pewds as in for a charity event . they got upset when they found out that there was no specific room for them to change clothes. And then, they didn’t agree to do basically anything in the video because it was not OK with “The Star Wars universe.” It all turned into chaos and it took a very long time. Finally, we ended up with something that they were going to edit but it was so bad I had to do it over and edit it myself. Furthermore, I don’t want Pewdiepie to be some kind of trademark that I lose control over… Interview was done by the icon magazine (cover below) Read the whole article @ http://iconmagazine.se/artiklar/stories-in-english/powerful-swede-world-3/ Lots & lots of extra stuff with extra indepth interview from the ground up.. When asked whether he'd make anything with his name as a brand he responded.. The network’s contract with Felix turned out to be impossible on a legal level too, as it tied him to the network for life. It took Felix hiring his own lawyer and then half a year of legal work to free himself from the network. Good news folks , the News comes courtesy of Engadget , For those who don't remember there had been a similar implication by google back in 2013 where for instance while searching for symptoms to confirm a causative disease you can actualy have a video chat with a certified personel for free of charge for a certain period about your current symptoms & not get misinformed by shady sites or troll sites which can eventually lead to demotivation or far worse personal effects & harmful psychological trauma that could end up in suicide, especially with teenagers ,The program was under trial back then still is but it's getting close to a full on trial Searching the web for symptoms of illness can be dangerous you could identify a real condition, but you also risk scaring yourself for no reason through a misdiagnosis. Google brought this facility to adress this issue, The trial stage is given out for free as for now, But, You'll likely have to pay for virtual appointments if and when the service is ever ready for prime time & google will have a cut on it , but you'll get your money's worth tho, but it could be much cheaper than seeing a physician in person. Remember, this system is still under trial ,using this or even anyother sites should be at your own risk. Post your thoughts & rants down beloowwwwwww.... 15. Switch your mobiles back into flight mode folks..Because we're ready for take off.. Frequent travelers might be happy that the FAA now allows the use of phones during takeoff and landing, but the biggest union of flight attendants (60,000 strong) in the country sure isn't. The union's lawyer has just attempted to get the FAA's decision overturned in the Court of Appeals, arguing that the FAA should've followed standard procedure by notifying the public first and allowing people to comment before issuing any ruling. Problem started with the flight attendants being concerned, because people have stopped paying attention to pre-flight safety demos and emergency announcements ever since the gadget ban was lifted. They're worried about mobile devices turning into projectiles during turbulence, as well something which has already happened in at least one incident. FAA did ask for and receive public feedback (around a thousand responses) and argues that phones are no more dangerous than books flying around the cabin, lucky for us , the choice still remains with the companies , they have to 'make the final call' *ba dum tiss* that the union would be alright with the compromise as if the gadgets remains switched on during takeoff and landing, but they have to be stowed away or kept on pocket until the plane's safely up in the air.. Thanks to a screenshot posted by a redditor we now know that Call of Duty Advanced Warfare is a fairly large file size with whopping 45.84 gigabytes (take that wolfenstein & titan fall) , to keep things in perspective that's almost 10% of the total harddrive space available for XBoxOnefor just one game.. (Reddit screenshot below image) But , the said amount is before it reserves space for Xbox One's OS and other functionalities.Everything taken into account with addition of free space for game saves, updates, downloadable titles & so forth, Final tally for the total hard drive space comes to around 362GB hard drive space taken after installation about 14% is expected to be hogged by COD:AW for those who are having worries this might take up too much space, the support page adds that you can hook up an external storage device to the Xbox One system, so long as it's over 256GB is size and uses USB 3.0 (trailer screenshot) The said file size hints that there is going to be uncompresed game cut scenes to make things photo realistic as far as possible , Pretty darn good visual effects so far (note the quality of the game footage image above) ...The game is set to release internationally on November 4, 2014. it was announced on Tuesday that owners of last-gen versions Advanced Warfare would be able to upgrade to current generation for free, But remember only digital copies are valid for this, if you have bought a physical disc you're not qualified for the free upgrade http://www.vg247.com/2014/10/09/call-of-duty-advanced-warfare-xbox-one-digital-file-size-revealed/ Bonus: leave a like if you liked this post & do post your thoughts & rants down beloooow...... 17. Say Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat? The 2014 Nobel Prize for physics has been awarded to a trio of scientists in Japan and the US for the invention of blue light emitting diodes (LEDs). Professors Akasaki, Amano and Nakamura made the first blue LEDs in the early 1990s Professors Isamu Akasaki: (85 years old) professor at Nagoya University (Japan) Hiroshi Amano (54 years old) professor at Nagoya University(Japan) Shuji Nakamura (60 years old) College of Engineering at the University of California Why is this a thing? Why did the committee bring this up now? As you guys know , Nobel Prizes were established to recognize developments that delivered "the greatest benefit to mankind". Although red and green LEDs had been around for many years, blue LEDs were a long-standing challenge for scientists in both academia and industry. Without Blue LED's our world would've been completely different as , the three colours could not be mixed to produce the white light we now see in LED-based computer and TV screens. something you take for granted as you're reading this in your color monitor right now..Working together and separately, Akasaki, Amano and Nakamura devised those bright blue beams from their semiconductors Furthermore, the high-energy blue light could be used to excite phosphorus and directly produce white light for the basis of the next generation of light bulb. This enabled a new generation of bright, energy-efficient white lamps, as well as Color LED screens. Making the announcement, the Nobel jury emphasized the usefulness of the invention, Nobel laureates will receive the title a diploma & a gold medal and about $1.1 million in award money.. Those who are still wondering why this is such a "Big deal", for scale it to 30 years of persistent innovation for the invention of Blue LED diodes As you can probably guess the guys who got nominated also was shocked to hear the surprising news, as they were not actually prepared for this prestigious Honor , the responded on the term "Unbelievable" , Humbly said..softly spoken.. So Next time when you line up you PC case with strips of blue LED's think of these three & how they changed your world for the bluey better Original: http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-29518521
  18. Now that's a number worth reporting.. Home depot Confirmed that their payment system had been hacked for months**..it all began when they noticed a suspicious activity via credit payments Here are some of the key takeaways: So , If you used a credit card at Home Depot any time since April, you’re going to want to call your bank As soon as possible (probably right now or last week ) to get a new card shipped out sooner than later. While you might not be on the hook for any fraudulent charges that might occur, getting them wiped out is still a pretty huge hassle. **Also Look into a previous thread by OP @GeneralTater217 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/212380-home-depot-is-next-to-suffer-from-payment-info-breech/ Previous Quote: Regarding that , the numbers & the level & scale were never exposed until now ,but just the breach being confirmed.. 19. An Interesting tech news, If you're Living in the UK the technology is already being used in some of the places, Now you No longer have to push through the crowded lane to get across the street quickly before the green man says No to your face(like everyone else) , London is releasing a trial system that can see pedestrians in 3D depth of field & can count how many pedestrians are waiting on the other side of the road. The technology is called " Pedestrian SCOOT " (Split Cycle Offset Optimization Tool) it is the first of its kind in the world and uses state-of-the-art video cameras to detect how many pedestrians are waiting at crossings, When the cameras count a critical mass of pedestrians, the technology transmits data that keeps the "walk" sign lit for longer to allow more people to cross the road.Similarly, when fewer people are waiting to cross the road, the traffic is given a longer set of green lights. The SCOOT system already regulates London's traffic flows and has been credited with cutting delays by 12% in the capital. It is in use at 3,000 junctions in the British capital, with a further 1,500 earmarked for SCOOT upgrades by 2018. The Device was constructed under "Technology Delivery Group at Transport for London" under the care of project leader Mark Cracknell. The system is very valuable in places where the pedestrian traffic is variable as in Schools , Near Bus stops, Event Centers , There are technologies out there that can detect whether a pedestrian is waiting, but the technology we use actually quantifies and counts the number of people Mark said But the technology we use actually quantifies and counts the number of people. The stereoscopic camera allows us to get a sense of depth discount the puddles and the shadows & just get a picture of the people standing there Despite this it's not all one-way traffic. Pedestrians that press the button on a set of lights and then change their minds and walk away are another challenge to the free flow of traffic. Quite an astonishing development , already implemented trials report back 12% increase in efficiency of traffic flow, What do you guys think about it? Leave your thoughts & comments below... 21. Not the 'minority report' kind of precrime that you were expecting.. Basically a variant of risk prediction technology Nevertheless this is an interesting story , The artificial intelligence (most probably like the heuristic analysis like AV's use) was developed to scan employees emails to search for pattern on whether the employee is potentially going to to giveaway/sell classified business details of the company, The artificial intelligence system developed by UBIC’s system dubbed Virtual Data Scientist, can sift through messages and identify senders whose writing suggests they are in financial straits or disgruntled about how their employer treats them. The system is built on established human expertise. The Virtual Data Scientist trains itself by studying and emulating the techniques of professional auditors. It can then bring those techniques to bear by scanning massive volumes of email. UBIC says it’s more efficient than traditional manual keyword searches and that even subtle indications of fraud can be detected. The approach links machine learning with analysis of big data and behavioral sciences such as psychology and criminology. The emerging field is known as "behavior informatics" and it has its own IEEE task force and other research groups. UBIC’s system currently works in Japanese only, but support for English and other languages is being added http://www.pcworld.com/article/2691132/artificial-intelligence-system-can-predict-data-theft-by-scanning-email.html Post your thoughts & rants down below, is it a fair system to snoop on employee email regardless of the risk it carries? post your comments below
  22. #HELPGATE (did you guys hear that? i does more than bending) First credit goes to Onstar Auto feature which initially help to get the distress signal out in the first place.. Alright, Scenario: 28 year old Melissa Vasquez's woman's car rolled 500 feet down an embankment near San Jose, California,The OnStar feature in car triggered a call to police at 2 p.m. Monday, but placed the car near her home in the town of Campbell, California.Police searched the area fruitlessly for two hours, and reportedly received another alert at 4 p.m. giving her location as downtown San Jose. At 3 a.m. Tuesday, Vasquez's stepmother called Campbell police to report her missing.Officer Dave Cameron, who responded, got Vasquez's iPad, guessed the password after three tries, and activated the lost phone feature, which displayed a map of the phone's location. Cameron forwarded screen shots of the map from the iPad to the San Jose Police department, and Vasquez was found within 20 minutes. images of rescue: courtesy huffington post & CBS networks Officer Dave Cameron Rescue images: More images courtesy Huffington post & CBS news footage(click spoiler) This feature can be found on various other devices & for example , AT&T offers a smartwatch-like device called "Filip" that keeps kids constantly in touch with their parents and tracks their locations,Kids can call one of five preprogrammed numbers, or push an emergency button that, among other things, constantly updates their locations. Time to turn up the heat: B) Privacy Issues.. Alright, this doesn't come without a concern about the broiling issue of privacy , Vasquez's rescue highlights another aspect of a debate that has been raging over tracking people through their cellphones. The American Civil Liberties Union is fighting against government and law enforcement tracking of peoples' movements through various means, including cellphones. The circumstances of Vasquez's rescue are unusual, as law enforcement "does not have the technical competence or resources to track devices according to the law in most cases," Lieberman said. "It would be better to have a universal policy of authorized third parties that can access your device as part of your initial purchase." Or, the device could generate a unique code that could be shared with others to allow tracking For example Cyber stalkers are able to track victims, often in cases of domestic violence as NPR reported. But in other ways this is rather amazing way technology can help a stranded or a hurt person, Just gotta let the right people have to take control over it & not letting them abuse the system for their own person vendettas or issues..this is a really good news long since we heard that technology can be used for really realy bad things.. for more reads: http://www.technewsworld.com/story/Find-My-iPhone-Find-Me-Lost-Phone-Feature-Helps-Rescuers-Locate-Crashed-Car-81206.html Do Post your thought & replies , i do read em all

People have been taking their frustration on the new iOS8 upgrade via Social media allover the globe , The newly released OS for iphone is set at a download size of about 5.8 GB space being requied, Many of the users who barely have enough room for an extra music or an image file has to delete a whole bunch of data in order to freeup space for the latest upgrade from apple, One expert said Apple's updates were often prone to "teething problems" As you guys already know this is no the first time an issue occured durring an OS update from apple , in 2012 an upgrade to iOS6 cost a few peoples Precious memories & apps to be deleted automagically, while upgrading their OS, As well as requiring a lot of storage, the latest version, iOS8, does not include apps that run with Apple's new HealthKit service, which is designed to work with third-party wearable health devices.this was indeed a minor bug & all the third party applications assosiated with it has been removed from the iphone App store, Apple users can avoid the need to free up storage space for the latest update by upgrading their software via iTunes on a Mac or PC, instead of through the phone or tablet itself. Additionally, much of the free space required by the update is made available again once the installation process has completed. So what you guys think? leave your thoughts & rants down below... 24. "The Door's Wide Open.." A "deadly serious" bug potentially affecting hundreds of millions of computers, servers and devices has been discovered. With this flaw, criminals can potentially break computers or steal private and government information. More than 500 million computers could be affected, early estimates suggest, According to open source software company Red Hat it affects any device that uses the operating system Linux ,which includes everything from calculators to cars. But it also affects Apple Macs and some Android, Windows and IBM machines The problem extends to lots of Internet-connected computers located anywhere -- from shops to hospitals to schools. The flaw has been found in a software component known as Bash, Bash : AKA Bourne-Again SHell , Which is a part of many Linux systems as well as Apple's Mac operating system. it is a command prompt on many Unix computers. Unix is an operating system on which many others are built, such as Linux and Mac OS. Experts said it was more serious than the Heatbleed Bug The bug was discovered by Stephane Chazelas, a French IT manager working for a software maker in Scotland. Here's How the Bug Works.. (Robert Graham) The problem stems from a flaw in the "bash," a type of computer program called a shell. A shell translates commands from you to a device's operating system. Think of it as an efficient middleman. Lots of Internet connected devices use the bash shell to run commands, like "turn on" and "turn off." Generally, a device that communicates using a bash shell also looks for extra information, like what browser or device you're using. And that's where the problem lies. If a hacker slips bad code into this extra data, they can sneak past a device's safeguards. Even a simple element such as a "smart" Internet-connected lightbulb then suddenly becomes a launchpad to hack everything else behind your network firewall, That could be your home computer, or a retailer's payment terminals, or a government office's sensitive database of information. Some 500,000 machines worldwide were thought to have been vulnerable to Heartbleed. But early estimates, which experts said were conservative, suggest that Shellshock could hit at least 500 million machines. The problem is particularly serious given that many web servers are run using the Apache system, software which includes the Bash component. The US Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-Cert) issued a warning about the bug,Urging system administrators to start patching. However, other security researchers warned that the patches were "incomplete" and would not fully secure systems. Of particular concern to security experts is the simplicity of carrying out attacks that make use of the bug. Cybersecurity specialists Rapid7 rated the Bash bug as 10 out of 10 for severity, but "low" on complexity - a relatively easy vulnerability for hackers to capitalise on. For general home users, Prof Woodward suggested simply keeping an eye on manufacturer websites for updates - particularly for hardware such as broadband routers. 25. Yeah nice try...They're quaking on their boots.. Oh DEA... This one has a rather odd back story , but never the less you can see how rather authoritative protective power used for protecting general public can be used against personal defamation, this being rather legal way of blackmail by the government.. Back Story: (Provided Name is an alias) cort:BBC The fake Facebook page was created after restaurant waitress Ms Arquiett was arrested in July 2010, and accused of being involved in a drugs ring. She pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine, and was later sentenced to six months of weekend incarceration. At the time of her arrest, Ms Arquiett surrendered her mobile phone and consented to officers accessing its data to help them with related criminal investigations. This included an investigation into her boyfriend, Jermaine Branford, who was suspected of co-ordinating drug sales. He later pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute cocaine. Ms Arquiett said she was not however notified that this operation would involve the creation of a "publicly available" Facebook page in the name of Sondra Prince, an alias she used. It included photographs of her as well as images of her son and niece. Facebook's terms and conditions state that users cannot create accounts for others without permission, but a spokeswoman for the firm declined to comment on this specific instance.
