  2. Go...Canada A new international test shows Ontario students are among the most computer literate even though the province's schools generally put less priority on facilitating the use of technology than other participating countries. The study was conducted on about 60,000 Grade 8 schools in 20 countries, Under The International Computer and Information Literacy Study, Students had to perform basic tasks such as copying or saving a document, creating and modifying information and using multiple applications at once. They also had to answer a questionnaire, as did teachers, principals and technology co-ordinators. Damn i love this picture .. The study looks at students' ability to collect, manage, produce and exchange information using a computer, as well as teachers' and principals' attitude and confidence regarding technology in the school setting. Girls scored higher in overall computer literacy than boys, but boys reported being more confident performing advanced tasks such as creating a computer program or building a website. It is believed to be the first international test of its kind. The province is in a statistical tie for the top spot with Australia and the Czech Republic. So there you go, Canadians yet again proving why they are even better than the rest of the world..Please do leave your thoughts & comments on this down beloooooooooooooo... 3. "EVIL" Kazuya Sakakihara spent ten years working at Sony as a senior software engineer, helping bring both the PS3 and PS4 to the world. He's no longer at the company (parting ways in early 2013), but before he left he made sure his name quite literally lives on inside the code of pretty much every PlayStation 4 ,Sakakihara has left his name inside the PS4's HDD code.Which can be seen on any Playstation 4 hardware owners SCREENSHOT: Interestingly, his name also has a typo. (most probably to fit his name in one line i think) Currently he's working for amazon japan..Kazuya Sakakihara has work experience in Embedded systems, operating system kernel, Linux, FreeBSD, device drivers, firmware, virtualization, multiprocessor systems, communication protocols, engineering team management, technical documentation quite interesting..Post your comments there waay down belooooooooooooooow.. 5. This Lollipop is real tasty.. An updated version of the Search app is rolling out today for Android devices,Starting today, users will see an updated layout Beyond the new Material Design look in the app, users can search inside of on-device applications, For example: in Tumblr. Simply say “Ok Google, look for this stuff in Tumblr.” & Google will open the app, then get to searching. Like this.. if you own a Nexus 6, Nexus 9 or Samsung Galaxy Note4,you can now set up your phone so you can say “Ok Google” to ask a question even if your screen is off and your phone is unplugged Beyond better voice searches, the app can now get a better handle on your less fixated plans as well it will sift through your Gmail account and ask whether or not you really want to have arange a meet with someone next Tuesday or not or you do? Confirming your choice will add the event to your Google Calendar, Pretty neat feature imo Also the same layout will be applied when asking for locations to other businesses as shown below Although the features shown above are working, Not all apps are able to get accessed through Google search function..the app developers still needs to integrate this feature on to their apps,, Tested apps are tumbler,TuneIn,TripAdvisor,YouTube etc.. & Finally users will have access to a “flip a coin” feature. Just say, “Ok Google, flip a coin.” This will help you decide which one of two things you will be doing. Give it a shot while you're at it Really useful features, do definitely Post your Thoughts & comments or even rants down below... Links: http://insidesearch.blogspot.in/2014/11/a-new-look-and-more-smarts-for-google.html http://techcrunch.com/2014/11/12/googles-search-app-for-android-gets-material-design-update-and-new-smarts/
  6. Technology can be very amazing sometimes.. Sesame Phone is the World's first Touch-free Smartphone, that is designed for disabled people to interact with their smartphone without having a physical contact with the phone , you can control by moving your head , basically helps people that are paraplegic or amputees or if you're just plain lazy According to research from the Christopher Reeve Foundation, about six million people are living with some form of paralysis. Of that six million, a little more than 2 million report having a lot of difficulty moving, while one million of them say they’re unable to move at all & that’s just in the US The setup works touch-free immediately, no additional set-up required with No external hardware being required for it to work is necessary.. So How does it Work? The Sesame Phone is a Google Nexus 5 phone customized to include facial recognition capabilities and a cursor that floats over the home screen, allowing people to click on apps without using their hands. Users open the Sesame Enable app by saying, “Open Sesame,” which opens a window that capture’s key points on the user’s face. When the phone has a good read of a user’s face, a cursor appears. Through advanced computer vision algorithms, the Sesame Phone tracks your head movements with extreme precision, utilizing only the existing, front-facing camera. Turn your head slightly to the right and the cursor moves right. Stop, and a navigation icon appears, allowing you to click, drag, swipe, or exit. (better than full body mouse chair) Oded Ben Dov Ceo of Sesame with phone user The touch-free smartphone is actually a modified Nexus 5, installed with the Sesame software (on top of the Android platform), which is the one that recognizes voice commands and head gestures through the front-facing camera. Ben Dov also is working with smartphone manufacturers to integrate Sesame Enable’s technology into existing phones. That not only will expand the options that disabled customers have, but it could also bring down the price of the phone Kid playing Angry birds with gesture control The Phone currently goes out for a whopping 900$ price range , but they do hope to bring the price down after other companies start to collaborate with them & this becomes more of a main stream thing.. The technology is still under development & would be very amazing to see this kind of feature to implemented in future technologies as a default on all smart phones.. Screen shot of the software interface (the red dot is the cursor) Currently it's under prototype & is set up under indiegogo campaign & Its creators are trying to raise $30,000 from the campaign in order to put finishing touches on a final working prototype and to bring it to production Do care to donate or support the developers check out their campaign : (secure & verified link) https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/sesame-touch-free-smartphone they have raised a total of $10,985USD at the time of this post Bonus:
  7. Haha! Very funny Obama! FCC chairman Tom Wheeler has told web giants Google, Yahoo and others that he won't cave to pressure from the White House Wheeler reminded participants at his meeting with Web companies Monday, the FCC does not answer to the Obama administration. This looks to be a direct response to President Obama's recent urging that the FCC declare the internet a utility last week The White House came out strongly on the side of net neutrality after a leaked document showed that the FCC wanted to let internet service providers (ISPs) continue to use so-called fast lanes. Critics claim that such practices are a slippery slope to letting carriers shut out companies that interfere with their business models. Large-bandwidth consumer Netflix already has to pay carriers like Comcast which has its own streaming service in order to have enough bandwidth. Wheeler also told the web companies: "What I've got to figure out is how to split the baby." Okay this below text is politics, so read at your own risk: Ultimately, aides felt that a public stance would galvanize allies in Congress as well as young, tech-savvy progressives, a key part of the Democratic base, according to several people familiar with the matter. The decision to speak out also comes as Democrats are aggressively courting Silicon Valley in preparation for the 2016 campaigns. & this inturn makes a couple of republicans against net neutrality but those few are calling it "Obamacare for the internet." which is may or maynot be good for the overall chariot race.. Moving on.. the move by the White House has put Wheeler in an uncomfortable spotlight. The two men have long been allies. Wheeler raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Obama’s campaign and advised the president on his transition into the White House. Obama last year appointed Wheeler to lead the FCC as it was poised to tackle its biggest issue in years the rules that govern content on the Web. so this maybe a kayfabe for the next election so to speak! Read the Obama article from LTT : http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/248129-barack-obama-supports-net-neutrality/ i don't know which side to pick , so post your comments & rants down below... News link: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-switch/wp/2014/11/11/the-fcc-weighs-breaking-with-obama-over-the-future-of-the-internet/ http://www.engadget.com/2014/11/12/fcc-chairman-i-am-an-independent-agency/
  8. 1080p'ness If you watch Netflix on your iPhone 6 Plus, your HD movies and TV shows just got even sharper. Netflix updated its iPhone app, allowing owners of the giant iPhone to watch videos in 1080p up from the default 720p.720 being a default HD standard, but 1080p offers even higher-resolution. This is not news for android , Netflix has been offering 1080p for Android devices since July 2013 For most people, the difference will be imperceptible on such a small screen (even if Apple's new iPhone is huge for a smartphone). Netflix's app will only display 1080p with a good Wi-Fi connection. at this point does watching a 1080p video in a small screen matter? a correctly filtered/encoded 480p video can look sharper as 1080p leave your thoughts & rants down below bonus: Link: http://money.cnn.com/2014/11/12/technology/mobile/netflix-iphone/index.html
  9. 11. Oh Ubisoft.. In responding to a story about widespread criticism about the unstable nature of Assassin's Creed Unity, publisher and developer Ubisoft said that it is working to change the way it works with game reviewers and gamers. The Game was widely criticized for major glitches in game after it's release, The French company said that it was working on fixes. PC gaming screenshot below with character face missing.. Court BBC/Gamespot : HUE HUE HUE... Gamers have suggested that the PC version of the title appears to be the most buggy,Some have encountered invisible walls and can hang onto ledges that are not there & a flaw where the character falling through the floor to infinite depths.. The spokesperson said that the issues are coming from the launch of Assassin's Creed: Unity, where we saw late embargoes for the reviews most likely to stop the negative press from getting out and affecting the launch, But maybe it's a bit late now.. Some believe the noon review for Assassin's Creed Unity was tied to some foreknowledge by the developer that the game had serious stability issues. But a spokeswoman for Ubisoft denied her firm had acted out of a lack of respect for customers. Earlier today, Ubisoft detailed some of the work it is doing to fix major problems, like the protagonist falling through the ground or getting stuck in hay bales. The post on the official blog did not address how the problems made it into final, retail code. A patch was, however, provided on the launch day to tackle "random crashes" and some animation issues. The official told the BBC that issues that arose out of Unity, including the late embargo for reviews, was driven by the changing nature of games Quote "The nature of games themselves and the way they are being reviewed is changing, as evidenced by games like Assassin's Creed Unity, Destiny and The Crew.. games that have significant online components" You look soo prettah! Glitch screenshot from a PC Assassin's Creed Unity' Embargo Isn't Unique To That Game, Polygon’s Ben Kuchera calls it a “weaponized” review embargo, noting that “you can always get some hints about the game from the timing of its embargo. In this case the embargo hinted at a game that’s in no way ready for release, and the reality of the situation proves that hypothesis.” Kuchera also says review embargoes, when not used this way, are a good thing that keep everyone on a level playing field. Below are a few quotes from Rob Crossley, UK news editor of Gamespot. The company had been under pressure to meet the titles' scheduled release dates after announcing lengthy delays to other high-profile games: Watch Dogs, which ultimately went on sale about a year later than expected, and The Crew, which is running roughly nine months late. "I would say that delaying a game for the sake of quality is a much more commendable solution than releasing it in fear." said rob All in all . i think Ubisoft needs a break from all the hate, they are evolving but they are learning new things at the same time.. 12. Sometimes you need to work together to get the job done.. Samsung and BlackBerry announced a partnership that couples Samsung's Knox platform with BlackBerry's enterprise know-how to make communication between devices even more secure.. The partnership was announced at an enterprise event in San Francisco on Thursday This partnership could seriously beef up security measures considering that Samsungs KNOX was approoved by the NSA recently to be able to hold classified information read about it here : NSA Approves Samsung's Galaxy Phones for Classified Work (LTT news link) & when combined with black berry's end to end encryption it's definitely a win. Knox already boasts a fair share of toughed encryption for personal & proffesional usage. This seems like a strange move for BlackBerry, as executives were keen to point out: BlackBerry CEO John Chen went so far as to joke that he was torn on whether or not to wish Samsung well in the future. Samsung compared to blackberry has already have a lead in marketing in US compared to blackberry's declining sales.. The end result of the partnership between the two companies will be available in early 2015. It will merge BlackBerry’s BES12 cross-platform EMM solution and Samsung’s KNOX into a single security suite for Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Blackberry CEO Tougher than the rest .. 13. Lets just be friends.. B*tch! Google Copresence , a project which was undertaken by google in order to make communication between cross-platform seems to be alive & doing well , Rumors say that it is still being pursuid by google inorder to make it a reality.. Copresence Looks Like A Contactless, Cross-Platform Version Of Android Beam , Cross-platform file sharing has certainly been done with services such as Google’s own Drive, or other services such as Dropbox, or Copy, amongst others. This seems more like a way for nearby devices to communicate with each other, possibly automatically, but definitely in a manner to share files, settings, location.. apparently these toon images down below are leaked images so if it gets taken down, you haven't heard it from me, just sayin " Copresence appears to be aimed at letting nearby Android and iOS devices communicate with one another in a variety of ways, exchanging files, photos, directions, messages, or other content, essentially making Copresence a sort of contactless, cross-platform version of Android Beam. “Copresence” stating that it will not require a Google account to use, and confirming that it will be in fact multi-platform. Google has been granted a patent for Copresence functionality Rumors are that it is being introduced in the coming weeks , YAY! so while we don't know an exact time frame, it's clear Google is chugging away at this functionality. As handy as services like AirDrop or Android Beam may be for shuffling content between nearby devices, they're platform-exclusive. 14. Here we go again.. According to the Wall Street Journal. There is a new strategy brought forward by the FCC to regulate the internet , The strategy focuses attention on proposals submitted months ago by Mozilla the maker of the popular Firefox browser and others. As the Journal puts it: The FCC has long indicated that it won't hesitate to reclassify Internet service providers (ISPs) under Title II of the Communications Act and FCC spokeswoman Kim Hart reiterated that Friday. The fight over net neutrality has largely crystallized into an ideological war. On one side, you have consumer groups who want the FCC to reclassify Internet providers as "common carriers," opening them up to heavier regulations designed to keep them from charging companies like Netflix a fee for accessing consumers. On the other side, you have industry groups who want anything but reclassification; these folks would prefer lighter regulation or none at all. The popular belief is that Title II classification would allow the FCC to protect net neutrality by regulating against against paid prioritization.Paid prioritization is a subversion of net neutrality through allowing ISPs to discriminate between websites’ data. If allowed, ISPs could charge content providers, the most common example being Netflix, to deliver data to customers through a so-called “Internet fast lane.” By definition, compromise means nobody gets all of what they want. And everyone involved in the net neutrality fight is reacting more or less as you'd expect. Before you guys jump into post a rant the specifics of the FCC's plan are still unclear , This a chunk of the information & is only a proposal.. other consumer groups fear that the hybrid approach could continue to allow Internet providers to strike paid deals with content companies. Meanwhile, industry officials are doubling down on their opposition to reclassification, warning of a legal challenge should the FCC attempt to selectively apply common carrier regulations to different portions of the Internet. While news of the hybrid strategy has already spawned a big response, the specifics of the FCC's plan are still unclear. Based on the lack of details, the amount of consternation over the hybrid approach is somewhat exaggerated. & quote "It's an overreaction with inadequate information," What do you guys think of this new approach? Rather fair imo , Post your comments & rants down beloooooooww Bonus: Link: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-switch/wp/2014/10/31/the-fcc-offers-a-middle-ground-take-on-net-neutrality-and-everyone-hates-it/

Redditmade , The huge online community message board site unveiled it's Crowd funding site on Wednesday, Basically it's initiative is that to allows Reddit users to raise money to manufacture and sell customized items. as a way you've seen in kickstarter users are not required to put in any money upfront, if they reach the goal within 30 days from the time the project was put online & reach that goal, they'll be allowed to have the funding Screenshot! pew.. pew.. The move will add another revenue stream to Reddit, which has tried to find creative ways to make money from the millions of people who visit the site without angering its quirky community of Internet denizens. While users who create successful Redditmade campaigns can keep any money they have raised for themselves, Reddit also encourages users to donate the funds raised to charities, causes or individuals that the users find most important. But unlike Kickstarter, Redditmade focuses more on physical goods, like T-shirts, shot glasses and stickers. Users are asked to create a custom item and have 30 days to raise the necessary amount of funds or orders to manufacture and send out the item In addition to keeping all the donations, campaign owners also have the option to either sell at cost and thereby generate no profits or to donate any profits to a charity, event or individual. Reddit has grown enormously in popularity over the last five years & Although Reddit have been a shady site for over a few years as we know, with close to 170 million regular users to accomplish specific goals, Official subreddit campaigns will be highlighted as featured campaigns on Redditmade, and may also qualify for free ads on Reddit itself. Mods will also have the power to officially endorse other subreddit campaigns. In the past, popular Reddit sub communities have been able to coordinate action — for good or ill — across the web. When the annual Boston Marathon was attacked by bombers in April last year, Reddit embarked on a manhunt to identify the suspects. Users accidentally blamed the wrong person. They have achieved some good cause goals, Collectively in the past Redditors have raised money for cancer survivors, animal shelters and clean drinking water for developing countries in the past, all by rallying around causes brought to their attention on the site. 18. After the Traumatic Full Body Mouse Chair Post..Introducing... cort: Minority report, paramount Exoskeleton for virtual 3D gesture controls Atleast this ones less weirder & has quite a good potential on the market plus it looks kinda awesome.. B) Dexta Robotics , A Chinese company that introduced a wearable mechanical exoskeleton that captures your hand motion as well as providing you with force feedback It Literally breaks the barrier between the digital and real world and gives you a sense of touch. or atleast try to give you one Currently they introduced two product lines Dexmo Classic Dexmo F2 The Exoskelton can be used for Device Control, Robotic manipulation,VR Operation System Control ,Animation With Detailed Finger Movement,Virtual drawing space,Alternative input device,Full VR immersive experience,Medical Rehabilitation So what's so special about this? For VR, it serves as a way to interact with the digital world within systems like the Oculus Rift. The Classic version of Dexta captures 11 degrees of freedom for you hand motion. Three degrees of freedom of motion for the thumb, and both the split and bending of the rest four fingers. These data along with the forward and inverse kinematics algorithms built in SDK can provide developers an accurate hand model skeleton, especially for the thumb part. It can input your detailed hand gesture in to VR instantly. Meanwhile the Dexmo F2 has the same functionality that Dexmo Classic does, on top of that it provides you with digital force feedback(on and off only). On the thumb and the index finger exoskeleton there are two additional piece of hardware called the force feedback unit, which is essentially a miniaturized gear disk braking system. When the avatar you are controlling hits a digital object, a signal is sent back via the SDK to Dexmo F2 and the small actuators actuates, brakes the joint and locks the exoskeleton. Few colorful products shown below.. Instead of creating a virtual glove as other companies they mainly focused on the functionality of the product, Although a gloved version is available too.. in addition, it can be used for fun stuff like control remote-controlled cars and smart lighting, Create music The device is currently under Crowd funding via Kickstarter & is currently trying to raise $200,000 if you guys want to help them give your contribution to this link ..(safe direct link):https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1277630932/dexmo-an-exoskeleton-for-you-to-touch-the-digital You can get one for as low as $65 if you decide to fund this (by May 2015), Also here are some Pros & Cons : Pros works near electromagnetic field has real force feedback precise affordable (200$) also they say 'stylish' , but meh Cons: slightly bigger compared to similar solutions like cyber glove,Leap motion etc no precise finger tip 3d-coordinate Needs to be calibrated one time Compared to other VR solutions that cost 500-5000 dollars & hassled setup process This one's rather cool imo.. & Last but not least...Here are the official Video Demo's : So what do you guys think? pretty cool cost effective consumer product imo, Post your thoughts & rants & troll comments belowww.... 20. Move over grandpa , it's 4K Era.. Yup! according to CNN , The last company to make plasma TV screens for U.S. consumers said this week that it would stop production of plasma sets in November. The widely expected announcement by LG has put the final nail in plasma TV's coffin. it is expected that after this years Christmas sales, companies won't look back at plasma technology for the intend of making a Television screen.. Plasma TV Screens generally start from 720P & max out at 1080p , Screen size ranged from 30'' upto 152" & cost upto 4000$ on consumer grade & came with the Very First High definition 3D experience into Living rooms. Panasonic earlier this year stopped making plasmas panasonic plasma television As the TV makers sell off their existing plasma TV inventory, tech consultancy IHS expects that plasma TVs will no longer be available in U.S. stores after the 2014 holiday shopping season. This came as shocking to some but TV buyers have opted for the less expensive, higher-resolution and lower-energy LCD TV technology over plasma TVs. Once a popular high-end option for HDTV sets, plasma technology has been outpaced by LCD, which includes the super-thin LED TVs. Plasma TVs offered what many considered to be the best picture quality on the market in the past few years at higher prices than LCDs. They gained favor thanks to their brighter images, warmer tones and wider viewing angles, But Now the tables have turned.. In 2010, the shipments of plasma TVs reached 18.2 million units globally & Panasonic shipped 19.1 million plasma TV panels in total ,Since that time, shipments of plasma TVs have declined substantially. This decline has been attributed to the competition from liquid crystal (LCD) televisions So how do they work? The technology behind plasma TVs consists of hundreds of thousands of tiny pixel cells containing gases which are held between two sheets of glass. When the gases in these cells are excited by electricity, the gas is turned into plasma and light is emitted, which in turn is translated into color and images Benefits of the plasma screens are that they are capable of producing deeper blacks allowing for superior contrast ratios faster response time, greater color spectrum, and wider viewing angle than LED panel, But Plasma screens have been lagging behind CRT and LCD screens in terms of energy consumption efficiency Plasma televisions resolution however was locked at 1080p something which was higher (actually very high) at the time , But this foreshadows that 4k resolution is taking over the trends & the end of 720p/i in general (720p is the 360p of 2014) There are still a few Chinese companies producing plasma TVs, but they don't sell their televisions in the United States. They too will likely stop plasma production by 2016, IHS forecasts. New technologies like OLED is taking over Plasma with way more benefits , So Rest in Peace good Ol Plasma.. Post your thoughts & comments down below , Leave a rant or troll as well .. Bonus: teleport over to cnn for more reads.... http://money.cnn.com/2014/10/30/technology/plasma-tv/index.html
  21. Nothing like a bit of smooth start... Problem stemmed out from customers using Bank of America as their credit service provider, where customers who went on a shopping spree were charged double the amount that they actually had to pay , A quick search of Twitter found many other people experiencing this same exact problem. customers took to Twitter and Reddit after finding the duplicate charges on bank statements Bank of America has confirmed that it is issuing refunds for duplicate Apple Pay charges.. the issue doesn't appear to involve Apple's software It’s a disconcerting glitch for Apple, whose widely watched foray into mobile payments is seen as the best hope yet for making tap-to-pay commonplace there haven't been widespread reports of problems with other cards, and Apple itself doesn't process transactions Burke reports that he eventually got the charges refunded once Bank of America noticed they were obviously duplicate charges. 22. Moar Ads... Starting today, Instagram is allowing advertisers to start running 15-second video ads that'll appear in your feed the same way that of sponsored image posts as of youtube's model Instagram, owned by Facebook, has deals to show 15-second autoplay spots from Disney, Activision, Lancome, Banana Republic and CW. The ads will start appearing today and roll out over the coming weeks Instagram has reportedly been testing the videos for several months, so it's possible that you've already seen one, but video ads are widely launching today, beginning with spots from Disney, Banana Republic, Activision, Lancome, and the CW network. Disney is promoting Big Hero 6 and Activision is promoting Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, both of which come out next week. The odd thing is that, unlike the photo ads for which Instagram has put so much effort into ensuring a coherent style with the type of images you would normally see in a feed, the video ads are basically just commercials. Even with their incongruity, video ads are likely to play a major role in Instagram's continued quest to make money under Facebook. Adweek reports that Instagram's tools for advertisers are fairly basic, only allowing them to target video spots based on users' age, gender, and country. 23. Redbull apparently needs more wings to beat this Alan Eustace, a senior vice president at Google, broke the world record for high-altitude jumps The jump was made from the height of Earths Stratospheric layer at a height of about 135,000 foot from the edge of space, previous record was set at an altitude of 128,000 foot high.. The record setting jump was made at dawn where Alan was lifted by a balloon filled with 35,000 cubic feet of helium, from an abandoned runway at the airport . Alan Eustace, 57 Mr. Eustace was carried aloft without the aid of the sophisticated capsule used by Mr. Baumgartner or millions of dollars in sponsorship money. Instead, Mr. Eustace planned his jump in the utmost secrecy, working for almost three years with a small group of technologists skilled in spacesuit design, life-support systems, and parachute and balloon technology He did not feel or hear the supersonic boom as he passed the speed of sound, he said. He performed two slow back flips before a small parachute righted him. Mr. Eustace’s maximum altitude was initially reported as 135,908 feet. The final number, based on information from two data loggers, Later submitted to the officials as 135,890 feet. He carried modest GoPro cameras aloft, connected to his ground-control center by an off-the-shelf radio. Alan accenting via specially designed helium baloon Mr. Eustace said that his technical team designed and redesigned many of the components of his parachute and life-support system during the three-year development phase. Many of the redesigns were the result of technical surprises. His technical team had designed a carbon-fiber attachment that kept him from becoming entangled in the main parachute before it opened. About four-and-a-half minutes into his flight, he opened the main parachute and glided to a landing 70 miles from the launch site He returned to earth just 15 minutes after starting his fall Specially designed Baloon used to carry Alan to the Strats The previous record was set by Felix Baumgartner a well known event set by Red bull & viral .. GhostDash enables you to intuitively learn from yourself and others how to drive faster, Basically it's virtual reality system that projects a virtual ghost car on a transparent screen like the simulations you see on a video game screen & you can race this virtual car around the tracks,I dea sounds simple but in reality it's a very very hard thing to do. The idea came from a (wait for it..) Video game forum discussion about a year ago (May 13 2013), The GhostDash is possible thanks to several pieces of technology working together To generate your ghost car, the GhostDash takes positioning from a GPS unit, along with the braking, speed, and other bits of info from your best lap, and sends that data to a Windows device (in this case, a Surface Pro 3 tablet). The software turns the data into a real-time vehicle projected on the 15-inch screen. (The actual render of screenshot on an opaque surface) No longer will you need to remember every detail of your time on track and study data in order to get faster. The ghost car will show you what you did in real time while you are driving The whole system basically presents the entire HUD(Head up display) from a racing video game as an augmented reality display in an actual moving car. Looking through the 98-percent transparent screen, a driver can see a ghost car projection running its last lap. At the bottom, there's a display for current speed, the gap and lap times. It's supposed to make learning a faster line much easier Diffusion film glass pane on Top - HoloFilm on Bottom (image below) This HUD that projects a virtual car onto the road, right in front of the driver. Mounted on the dashboard sits in front of your face while the LED projector shows the car you need to follow at 1080P resolution, It is coated with a special film material called holofilm If you’re trailing, the ghost car will appear ahead, and if you pass it, an arrow will show that it’s behind you Currently the project is put under kickstarter, But good luck, the viable pledge starts from 1700$ all the way upto 10k U$D , but as always you can donate mini backer amounts from 10-50$ GhostDash is looking to raise 43500USD for the campaign to finalize the user interface and start building infrastructure so drivers can share race data and store their best laps if you want to help these guys out head over to Kickstarter (safe/secure link):https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ghostdash/ghostdash-augmented-reality-ghost-car-and-hud Last But not least Demo video & Project explanation: Bonus: Jesus Take the Wheel.. Although this is mainly designed for professional race enthusiast, they might release a consumer version at a lighter price later on.. Pretty Good project imo & i think we're on the right track with augmented virtual reality systems & Dont forget...(post all the linkzz) http://www.ghostdash.com/ http://www.wired.com/2014/10/hud-brings-ghost-cars-to-the-track/ https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ghostdash/ghostdash-augmented-reality-ghost-car-and-hud http://www.youtube.com/user/GhostDashHRG/videos Post your thoughts on this down beloooooooooooooooooww & leave a like if you liked this..
  25. Nothing like a bit of elbow grease not as bad as full body mouse chair, but still...Work it... Ampy is a wearable device that captures energy from your motion, turning it into power to charge your phone or any USB-powered device , captures the kinetic energy that is produced by movement, enabling it to charge your devices as fast as a wall outlet would. The charger’s internal battery stores about a week’s worth of physical activity, which is ready for use for several months after the fact. However, if you want to go down the more traditional route, Ampy does have a Micro USB port to allow for charging from a wall outlet. Ampy will charge iPhones, Android phones, and any other USB-powered device. AMPY has a USB port for output and a Micro USB port for input, just in case you want to charge it from a wall outlet and use it as a regular power bank. Walking 10,000 steps, bicycling for one hour, or jogging for 30 minutes should produce three hours of battery life for your smartphone. Alternatively, the same activities will give you 24 and 72 hours of extra battery life for your smartwatch and fitness band, respectively The retail price its going after is 125$ per piece with all the accessories , Ampy is still under Kick starter & has left 11 days(from this post day) to go & has already reached 241,478 $ already backed The charge depends on intensity of one's movement & effort to it ,so results per person & per activity will vary between person to person.. if you wanna get in on the wagon , Pledge $95 and you’ll get the Ampy, as well as a protective sleeve, clip, and armband. Backers should receive their Ampy chargers in June of next year, after which the Ampy and the Ampy Accessory Pack will go for $95 and $125, respectively. Hey, Atleast this ones a bit portable compared to Nokia's previous solution.. yes that is a real thing.. The team behind AMPY has worked hard to keep the device's size as small as possible. It currently sits at 2.5" x 2.5" x 0.75" and weighs 140g, a footprint that makes it less than half the size of a modern smartphone but with the same weight. Because of its size, AMPY houses a meagre 1,000 mAh battery that charges as you move throughout the day Ampy app screenshot *Pew Pew* This Charging solution is great for those who are going off the grid where power is not not readily available via a plug, great for off site camping & hiking imo.. Great invention finally on a portable sized device, Post your opinions/thoughts/rants & trolls down beloooow...
