LG resales a completely round smart watch running Android ware. The watch has a 1.2GHz snapdragon 400 512mb of RAM,4GB of internal storage and the usual Heart rate monitor,gyro,accelerometer and a additional compass. Its P-OLED display is a full circle measuring 1.3 inches in diameter with a resolution of 320x320 smaller than the competing moto 360 but with a higher resolution (moto 360 res. is 320x290). It has a slightly bigger battery than the original G watch at 410Mah which will be more than enough to power then OLED screen. The Android Man has left the building.. According to Wall street journal , Andy Rubin Is Leaving Google , Starting an Incubator for Startups Interested in Building Technology-Hardware Products , Andy Rubin, the co-founder and former leader of Android who switched recently to Google's robotics division, Rubin was Android’s leader from its inception in 2003, through its acquisition by Google in 2005, until Rubin was moved out of Android in 2013. During that time, he shepherded Android from its tiny startup days to the world’s most popular mobile operating system. Andy Rubin is considered the father of android.. Rubin is the co-founder and former CEO of both Danger Inc. & Android.Inc. When Rubin left Android, he was replaced by Sundar Pichai, who already oversaw Chrome and Apps. Larry handed oversight of most of Google’s products to Pichai last week. Rubin moved to Google’s robotics division, where he oversaw robotics companies that Google owned, like Boston Dynamics. Google confirmed the departure to us with a prepared statement from Google CEO Larry Page: “I want to wish Andy all the best with what’s next. With Android he created something truly remarkable with a billion plus happy users. Thank you.” At Google as head of Android, Rubin was known for insulating the Android team from the rest of Google maintaining it like a separate company inside the search giant. The Android group had its own lunchroom within the Google campus, for instance. Rubin sold his Android company to Google in 2005, heading up its development until March 2013 , He left Apple in 1992 and went on to set up Danger, maker of the SideKick-branded smartphones later acquired by Microsoft, and Android in 2003. Do you even rift bro? Oculus VR CEO Brendan Iribe said at a conference in Ireland today that the current developer model, code-named Crescent Bay, is "largely finalized for a consumer product." Brendan Iribe (Oculus CEO) Iribe says the company has changed significantly since it was acquired by Facebook in March. Operating as an independent subsidiary, Oculus has grown from 75 people to over 200 employees and now operates a separate R&D division. Alright , Here's the kicker to this, When he said months , he meant technically, 23 months , By that it would qualify as "many months" but "not years." <_< technically it's 2 years The big challenge remains developing an effective input device. Iribe says keyboards, mice and gamepads aren’t up to the job and neither is gesture-control at this point When on the interview where he was asked about the threat of rival VR products, Iribe said his main concern is choppy implementation of the VR technology So when asked that when would Oculus felt that it would be ready to launch to consumers? ibre responded “We’ve gone out there and set this bar,We want to get it right,We don’t want it to be four or five years. Google announced that It marks the first time a city in an Arab country will be added to the google street view feature.Now You can now see some of the tallest buildings in the world on Google Street View. Because google Google began mapping the city earlier this year, but took a break in the summer to avoid the city's infamous haze and ensure clear photos. why is the wheel hub censored? Google earlier on made headlines by launching street view by Camel & mapped out parts of the Liwa Desert in the Emirates The Street View maps cover new places like Sheikh Zayed Road, the longest street in the United Arab Emirates and the enormous Dubai Mall as well historical sites like the Deira Spice Souk and Dubai Creek. pretty cool info, do post your comments down below.. Who da bauss? it's been a while since audio products from Bose was removed from Apple in-stores & online stores Now it's confirmed that they will be back on the apple stores later next year(UPDATE :Maybe available early before this christmas) , While Apple's Beats label and Bose are fierce competitors, the Bose name remains a big draw for customers. Apple and Bose appear to have worked out disagreements as it was confirmed that their headphones & speakers will be featured back on Apple stores later next year..Bose-branded products disappeared from Apple’s website on October 17th without explanation from either party involved Bose Soundlink 3 Bose’s return to Apple’s retail stores follows a hiatus that lasted over a month in which the high-quality headphones and speakers were pulled from both Apple’s online and retail stores without explanation. Admit it, that's one epic title TLDR is at the very bottom @WinNut Trains in the Netherlands are getting armed with lasers as part of a test to see if they can burn away dangerous material on the tracks, including autumn leaves. The Dutch system (developed by Strukton Rail) turns the laser off when it's going to miss the track. Blasting leaves from train tracks with high-powered lasers might sound like a bit of overkill, but rotting leaves can actually form a Teflon-like coating on the tracks that make it hard for the train wheels to maintain their grip. according to the UK's Network Rail, leaves on the tracks created 4.5 million hours of passenger delays in 2013. The DM-90 train will be the first to get its leaf-zapping laser Current track-clearing solutions include shooting either water or a gel and sand mixture called Sandite from jets mounted on the train, but they both have issues they need to be constantly restocked and they can erode the rails. Lasers are angled downwards and fitted just in front of a wheel, the lasers vaporise built-up residue as the train passes. They also dry the rails to prevent new leaves from piling up. This gives trains better traction, allowing faster acceleration and braking. Using lasers to clear leaves was first proposed in 1999 by a UK company called LaserThor, which developed a laser with a temperature of 5000 °C that was strong enough to zap leaves 25,000 times per second. This worked really well in the lab But when fitted to moving trains, the vibrations made it hard to keep the laser focused on the rails, he says. Network Rail eventually opted for high-powered water jets instead. we are the champions..wait, that's the other 'queen'.. on the 5th December in a landmark judgement on the compatibility of the regimes which govern GCHQ’s interception of communications and receipt of information from foreign partners, with the European Convention on the right to privacy and freedom of speech. The IPT, a judicial body which investigates and determines complaints against the UK intelligence agencies, reached its findings after a series of open and closed hearings. Amnesty UK's legal advisor Rachel Logan said the government had "managed to bluff their way out of the case" by "retreating into closed hearings and constantly playing the 'national security' card". The case was brought against HMG by a range of non-governmental organisations, following the leaks of stolen information by former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden. They include Privacy, Liberty and Amnesty International, alongside a number of other non UK based bodies. One of the prominent case was about Webcam watching ,The Privacy International pressure group had said the documents released by Mr Snowden detailed the many ways that GCHQ was spying on people, many of which violated the European Convention on Human Rights. the civil rights advocates that filed the complaint (including Amnesty UK, Liberty and Privacy International) aren't happy with this verdict. They plan to appeal the decision with the European Court itself, The Tribunal agrees that unchecked mass data collection would be illegal, but contends that the ways GCHQ selects and preserves that data are reasonable The IPT’s further findings are as follows: Developments in communications technology have not made any of the provisions within RIPA ambiguous or unfit for purpose No difference of view as to the precise definition of external communications causes the RIPA 8(4) regime to be unlawful There is no inadequacy in the section 16 safeguards within RIPA as alleged by the claimants the RIPA 8(4) regime is not discriminatory Five senior legal professionals concluded that the legal regimes governing the interception of communications under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA) 2000 are lawful and compliant with Articles 8 (right to privacy) and 10 (freedom of expression) of the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR). Similarly, it concluded that the arrangements governing the receipt of intercept from foreign partners are lawful and meet the requirements of Articles 8 and 10 of the ECHR. Under the Lime Lights... North Korea has denied any rumors that it had taken part in the massive sony hack, North Korean state-run media KCNA applauded the attack. North Korea's response was riddled with anti-U.S. and anti-South Korean rhetoric.The statement didn't outright say the North Korean government was not responsible. But KCNA called North Korean involvement "a wild rumor" and the government suggested it couldn't be behind a cyberattack on "a country far across the ocean." why wasn't this one leaked? Experts point to several signs of North Korean involvement. They say there are similarities between the malware used in this attack and that from a different cyber blitz against South Korea. Both were written in Korean, an unusual language in the world of cyber crime. Guess what?.. Scientist have developed technique where a single-shot compressed ultrafast photography is taken at one hundred billion frames per second That is 100000000000 fps. The Technique is called compressed ultrafast photography (CUP) & it's a two-dimensional dynamic imaging technique, Don't Blink.. The Camera is , as you guessed is not an ordinary camera but a specialy designed industrial strength high-speed camera.The Purpose for the camera build is for to track light as it travels and interacts with objects , so nor regular time warp application Researchers used the technique to explore phenomenas such as how light reflects and refracts, as well as how photons behave when transitioning from one medium to another One of the purposes for the build is to Study Invisibility Cloaks, you heard that right , The camera is so fast that it can actually capture light in it's path (in 2d) what they plan to do with t the technology is to study how light intereacts & behaves on & around certain object , by learning that they can research into light interactive fabric that can behave that can bend around fabric making the object literally invisible to the naked eye.. Soon this could be a reality.. CUP System Configuration: camera setup Explanation of the image above: With CUP, the photons necessary to take an image are blasted through a beam splitter and then through a tube that has several tiny mirrors. These photons are converted into electrons, which encode the data you want captured namely the time and space data necessary to create an image. All of this happens in one billionth of a second, and the data can then be arranged into a video on a computer Strictly speaking this is not the fastest camera in the world still..the fastest in the world as of now can capture images upto trillionth frames per second that camera was able to capture stunning picture of heat conduction, but that had so many limitations unlike this one. if only it could capture images in this 3d format The technology is impressive and quite complex. Previous cameras could record at roughly a billion frames a second, but could only do so in one dimension that meant you could measure space or time, but not both. And it was slower, anyway. Compared with existing ultrafast imaging techniques, CUP has the prominent advantage of measuring an x–y–t (x, y, spatial coordinates & t is time) scene with a single camera snapshot, thereby allowing observation of transient events with temporal resolution as tens of picoseconds. This is not the first time that Iran has been in the news for technology to ID users. In 2012, it was reportedly testing a service that would be used in public places, specifically Internet cafes (a popular way of going online in Iran, where about 30 million of its 75 million citizens use the Internet), that would require users to log in to use services. Iran has in the past denied that it was working on such services, although it has, ultimately, continued to work on ways to restrict Internet access. Update on Sony Investigation Washington, D.C. December 19, 2014 FBI National Press Office Today, the FBI would like to provide an update on the status of our investigation into the cyber attack targeting Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE). In late November, SPE confirmed that it was the victim of a cyber attack that destroyed systems and stole large quantities of personal and commercial data. A group calling itself the “Guardians of Peace” claimed responsibility for the attack and subsequently issued threats against SPE, its employees, and theaters that distribute its movies. The FBI has determined that the intrusion into SPE’s network consisted of the deployment of destructive malware and the theft of proprietary information as well as employees’ personally identifiable information and confidential communications. The attacks also rendered thousands of SPE’s computers inoperable, forced SPE to take its entire computer network offline, and significantly disrupted the company’s business operations. After discovering the intrusion into its network, SPE requested the FBI’s assistance. Since then, the FBI has been working closely with the company throughout the investigation. Sony has been a great partner in the investigation, and continues to work closely with the FBI. Sony reported this incident within hours, which is what the FBI hopes all companies will do when facing a cyber attack. Sony’s quick reporting facilitated the investigators’ ability to do their jobs, and ultimately to identify the source of these attacks. As a result of our investigation, and in close collaboration with other U.S. government departments and agencies, the FBI now has enough information to conclude that the North Korean government is responsible for these actions. While the need to protect sensitive sources and methods precludes us from sharing all of this information, our conclusion is based, in part, on the following: Technical analysis of the data deletion malware used in this attack revealed links to other malware that the FBI knows North Korean actors previously developed. For example, there were similarities in specific lines of code, encryption algorithms, data deletion methods, and compromised networks. The FBI also observed significant overlap between the infrastructure used in this attack and other malicious cyber activity the U.S. government has previously linked directly to North Korea. For example, the FBI discovered that several Internet protocol (IP) addresses associated with known North Korean infrastructure communicated with IP addresses that were hardcoded into the data deletion malware used in this attack. Separately, the tools used in the SPE attack have similarities to a cyber attack in March of last year against South Korean banks and media outlets, which was carried out by North Korea. We are deeply concerned about the destructive nature of this attack on a private sector entity and the ordinary citizens who worked there. Further, North Korea’s attack on SPE reaffirms that cyber threats pose one of the gravest national security dangers to the United States. Though the FBI has seen a wide variety and increasing number of cyber intrusions, the destructive nature of this attack, coupled with its coercive nature, sets it apart. North Korea’s actions were intended to inflict significant harm on a U.S. business and suppress the right of American citizens to express themselves. Such acts of intimidation fall outside the bounds of acceptable state behavior. The FBI takes seriously any attempt whether through cyber-enabled means, threats of violence, or otherwise to undermine the economic and social prosperity of our citizens. The FBI stands ready to assist any U.S. company that is the victim of a destructive cyber attack or breach of confidential business information. Further, the FBI will continue to work closely with multiple departments and agencies as well as with domestic, foreign, and private sector partners who have played a critical role in our ability to trace this and other cyber threats to their source. Woman Sues US government Over Fake Facebook page Facebook wants assurances from the Drug Enforcement Administration that it's not operating any more fake profile pages as part of ongoing investigations.Facebook's chief security officer Joe Sullivan, said in a letter Friday to DEA Administrator Michele Leonhart that law enforcement agencies need to follow the same rules about being truthful on Facebook as civilian users. Those rules include a ban on lying about who you are.. (below, is a screen cap from the actual fake profile ) Sullivan's letter was in response to a New York woman's federal lawsuit claiming that a DEA agent created a fake online persona using her name and photographs stored on her cellphone. The Justice Department initially defended the practice, arguing in an August court filing that while Arquiett didn't directly authorize Sinnigen to create the fake account, she "implicitly consented by granting access to the information stored in her cellphone and by consenting to the use of that information to aid in ... ongoing criminal investigations."
