  2. The Android Man has left the building.. According to Wall street journal , Andy Rubin Is Leaving Google , Starting an Incubator for Startups Interested in Building Technology-Hardware Products , Andy Rubin, the co-founder and former leader of Android who switched recently to Google's robotics division, Rubin was Android’s leader from its inception in 2003, through its acquisition by Google in 2005, until Rubin was moved out of Android in 2013. During that time, he shepherded Android from its tiny startup days to the world’s most popular mobile operating system. Andy Rubin is considered the father of android.. Rubin is the co-founder and former CEO of both Danger Inc. & Android.Inc. When Rubin left Android, he was replaced by Sundar Pichai, who already oversaw Chrome and Apps. Larry handed oversight of most of Google’s products to Pichai last week. Rubin moved to Google’s robotics division, where he oversaw robotics companies that Google owned, like Boston Dynamics. Google confirmed the departure to us with a prepared statement from Google CEO Larry Page: “I want to wish Andy all the best with what’s next. With Android he created something truly remarkable with a billion plus happy users. Thank you.” At Google as head of Android, Rubin was known for insulating the Android team from the rest of Google maintaining it like a separate company inside the search giant. The Android group had its own lunchroom within the Google campus, for instance. Rubin sold his Android company to Google in 2005, heading up its development until March 2013 , He left Apple in 1992 and went on to set up Danger, maker of the SideKick-branded smartphones later acquired by Microsoft, and Android in 2003. Google co-founders Page and Sergey Brin bought Android in 2005 without telling Eric Schmidt, then the chief executive of the search giant, He spent five years working on Google’s self-driving car project and more than seven years at Carnegie Mellon. Flavors of android... After Rubin left his work on Android, he retreated into Google’s more experimental arm, helping run the company’s robotics efforts a focus that lines up with his new direction with hardware startups. Rubin’s background originally was in hardware. Before Google, Rubin worked at Apple, and then co-founded the device maker Danger, but he left a half decade before it was acquired by Microsoft. He then went on to co-found Android with Rich Miner in 2003. Google acquired Android in 2005. Andy Rubins career path (cortesy wiki) Carl Zeiss AG, robotics engineer, 1986–1989. Apple Inc., manufacturing engineer, 1989–1992. General Magic, engineer, 1992–1995. An Apple spin-off where he participated in developing Magic Cap, an operating system and interface for hand-held mobile devices. MSN TV, engineer, 1995–1999. When Magic Cap failed, Rubin joined Artemis Research, founded by Steve Perlman, which became WebTV and was eventually acquired by Microsoft. Danger Inc., co-founder, 1999–2003. Founded with Matt Hershenson and Joe Britt. Firm is most notable for the Danger Hiptop, often branded as the T-Mobile Sidekick, which is a phone with PDA-like abilities. Firm was later acquired by Microsoft in February 2008. Android Inc., co-founder 2003–2005. Google, 2005–2014. Senior Vice President in charge of Android for most of his tenure.Since December 2013, managing the robotics division of Google (which includes companies bought by Google, such as Boston Dynamics). Rubin will be replaced in Google’s robotics division by research scientist James Kuffner. He had worked for over 9 years in total for android.. Surely he will be missed, Leave your thoughts, comments or rants down below... 3. Do you even rift bro? Oculus VR CEO Brendan Iribe said at a conference in Ireland today that the current developer model, code-named Crescent Bay, is "largely finalized for a consumer product." Brendan Iribe (Oculus CEO) Iribe says the company has changed significantly since it was acquired by Facebook in March. Operating as an independent subsidiary, Oculus has grown from 75 people to over 200 employees and now operates a separate R&D division. Alright , Here's the kicker to this, When he said months , he meant technically, 23 months , By that it would qualify as "many months" but "not years." <_< technically it's 2 years The big challenge remains developing an effective input device. Iribe says keyboards, mice and gamepads aren’t up to the job and neither is gesture-control at this point When on the interview where he was asked about the threat of rival VR products, Iribe said his main concern is choppy implementation of the VR technology So when asked that when would Oculus felt that it would be ready to launch to consumers? ibre responded “We’ve gone out there and set this bar,We want to get it right,We don’t want it to be four or five years. We’re eager for this to happen.” pretty good news update imo, What do you think? Leave your comments rants & Thoughts down belowwwwwwww.. Bonus: Head over to this link for bonus read.. http://thenextweb.com/facebook/2014/11/04/oculus-ceo-says-consumer-rift-vr-headset-close/
  4. MicroLumia Images from Chinese regulator TENAA show a new Lumia handset with Microsoft branding at the front and rear in what appears to be a bigger version of the Lumia 530. The new device is simply labelled RM-1090 for now, but it offers dual-SIM support with what will likely be low-end specifications For extra reads check out this early news post behind the name change.. Microsoft Drops the 'Nokia' Tag in the New Lumia Phones These are leaked images so if it gets taken down , You haven't heard anything from me.. Still looks ugly imo This new handset appears to be the latest low-end Windows Phone from Microsoft, an approach that the company is using to try and push the overall operating system market share as it struggles to compete with Android on cost and features. AFAIK sources seem to be verified & original, if it's BS let me know i'll take this down ASAP. Post your comments down below.. Bonus: Link: http://www.theverge.com/2014/11/3/7149143/first-lumia-with-microsoft-branding-leak Bonus reads: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/238185-microsoft-drops-the-nokia-tag-in-the-new-lumia-phones/ Bonus News: (SInce the above one seems too short for a read) Windows Phone Twitter and Facebook pages to be renamed Microsoft Lumia Nov. 7 Microsoft will officially rename its official Windows Phone Twitter and Facebook accounts to the new Microsoft Lumia brand on Friday, November 7 as part of the company's efforts to ditch the Nokia name, and ultimately the Windows Phone brand, from its smartphones. Microsoft had already announced back in October that its Windows Phone social networking accounts will be renamed to Microsoft Lumia but today is the first time we got a specific date on when that will actually happen. Only the names of the accounts are changing; nothing else will be altered. The changes are all part of Microsoft's previously announced plans to focus on the Lumia brand for their smartphones. It also shows that the company is downplaying the Windows Phone branding as a whole, and that the company could in the future simply refer to the mobile version of its OS as "Windows" as part of a unified marketing effort across smartphones, tablets, and PCs. links... https://twitter.com/windowsphone https://twitter.com/windowsphone/status/529374570948857856 https://www.facebook.com/MicrosoftLumia/posts/10152567109983772

  6. Reach out to those in pain.. The Crowd-funding site Indiegogo has launched a new site separate from their original campaign site dedicated just for humanitarian cause that people can use to help those who are in need.. Basically it's a charity fund that is used to help those who are in need , The service is called Indiegogo Life. together.. Since this being a charitable target , the site creators aren't charging extra for the cause funding , While successfully funded campaigns on Indiegogo are charged a fee of 4 percent if they use PayPal or 9 percent if they don’t, Indiegogo Life won’t charge any platform fees. Recently our beloved Tech of tommorow Host Elric Phares was in the campaign where he's being treated for diabetes & got his second leg amputated & his friends have been active in it to bring him some help via the crowd funding.. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/support-elric-phares the money you collect is typically what you'll keep. The categories available on Indiegogo life are medical needs, emergencies, celebrations, memorials, pets & animals, faith, sports, volunteer efforts and education. Indiegogo says the new service also features a new campaign setup process that’s faster than before and access to community building tools. cue sarah mclachlan With that being said, Indiegogo currently do not verify the campaigns <_< put up on the site, Which means that there is quite a large possibility of scamming cases , So think before you actually make a decision to give support, but do do that with caution as well..The site has also launched an app for the crowd-funding campaign. Post your thoughts & comments down below.. Original Link: https://life.indiegogo.com/ News Link: http://www.engadget.com/2014/12/15/indiegogo-life/
  7. Apple's online store now accepts PayPal & it lets you spread the cost , the company has decided to add PayPal to its online store in the US and the UK , Apple is also promoting interest-free installments via PayPal Direct. For orders over $250/£99, the company will let you split payments into equal monthly payments, letting you get your gear now and gradually pay it off by next Christmas. PayPal is now accepted at the company’s online retail store as well, you can buy the quite expensive accessories right now & split the payment over a period of months if you're on a tight budget, also Bose's headsets are hitting back at apple stores read about it here : Bose is Back on Apple Store Best of all the equal monthly installments option extends over up to 18 months with no interest. Pretty cool news imo , Post your thoughts & rants waaaaaaaaaaaay down belllllllllllllllllooooooooooooeeee..... 9. That's one view... Google announced that It marks the first time a city in an Arab country will be added to the google street view feature. Now You can now see some of the tallest buildings in the world on Google Street View. Because google Google began mapping the city earlier this year, but took a break in the summer to avoid the city's infamous haze and ensure clear photos. why is the wheel hub censored? Google earlier on made headlines by launching street view by Camel & mapped out parts of the Liwa Desert in the Emirates The Street View maps cover new places like Sheikh Zayed Road, the longest street in the United Arab Emirates and the enormous Dubai Mall as well historical sites like the Deira Spice Souk and Dubai Creek. pretty cool info, do post your comments down below.. 10. Who da bauss? it's been a while since audio products from Bose was removed from Apple in-stores & online stores Now it's confirmed that they will be back on the apple stores later next year(UPDATE :Maybe available early before this christmas) , While Apple's Beats label and Bose are fierce competitors, the Bose name remains a big draw for customers. Apple and Bose appear to have worked out disagreements as it was confirmed that their headphones & speakers will be featured back on Apple stores later next year..Bose-branded products disappeared from Apple’s website on October 17th without explanation from either party involved Bose Soundlink 3 Bose’s return to Apple’s retail stores follows a hiatus that lasted over a month in which the high-quality headphones and speakers were pulled from both Apple’s online and retail stores without explanation. Good move from apple i guess, but on a flipsyde apple may or maynot have bought them back just to boost profits regarding beats , although these are being sold along with Beats it's profit for them anyways.. recent friction between apple & Bose was the advertising agreement between Bose and the NFL, by which resulted in players appearing on camera during events with the popular Beats headphones being fined creating more contention between Apple’s Beats and Bose. Please do post your thoughts on this down below.. Link: http://9to5mac.com/2014/12/09/bose-beats-apple-store/
  11. Admit it, that's one epic title TLDR is at the very bottom @WinNut Trains in the Netherlands are getting armed with lasers as part of a test to see if they can burn away dangerous material on the tracks, including autumn leaves. The Dutch system (developed by Strukton Rail) turns the laser off when it's going to miss the track. Blasting leaves from train tracks with high-powered lasers might sound like a bit of overkill, but rotting leaves can actually form a Teflon-like coating on the tracks that make it hard for the train wheels to maintain their grip. according to the UK's Network Rail, leaves on the tracks created 4.5 million hours of passenger delays in 2013. The DM-90 train will be the first to get its leaf-zapping laser Current track-clearing solutions include shooting either water or a gel and sand mixture called Sandite from jets mounted on the train, but they both have issues they need to be constantly restocked and they can erode the rails. Lasers are angled downwards and fitted just in front of a wheel, the lasers vaporise built-up residue as the train passes. They also dry the rails to prevent new leaves from piling up. This gives trains better traction, allowing faster acceleration and braking. Using lasers to clear leaves was first proposed in 1999 by a UK company called LaserThor, which developed a laser with a temperature of 5000 °C that was strong enough to zap leaves 25,000 times per second. This worked really well in the lab But when fitted to moving trains, the vibrations made it hard to keep the laser focused on the rails, he says. Network Rail eventually opted for high-powered water jets instead. Although there is a catch to it, the lasers can work on trains moving at speeds of up to 80 kilometers an hour (about 50 mph). above that it's not a feasable solution & will not work Somewhat technological but eitherways Pretty cool , post your thoughts on this down belooooooooooooee Bonus: Link: http://www.engadget.com/2014/12/09/trains-get-lasers-to-clear-tracks/ Original Article from: (courtesy new scientist) http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg22429984.800-lockedon-lasers-burn-through-leaves-on-train-lines.html TLDR: Trains with lasers & sh*t to clean tracks in the future , F*ck yeah!
  12. we are the champions..wait, that's the other 'queen'.. on the 5th December in a landmark judgement on the compatibility of the regimes which govern GCHQ’s interception of communications and receipt of information from foreign partners, with the European Convention on the right to privacy and freedom of speech. The IPT, a judicial body which investigates and determines complaints against the UK intelligence agencies, reached its findings after a series of open and closed hearings. Amnesty UK's legal advisor Rachel Logan said the government had "managed to bluff their way out of the case" by "retreating into closed hearings and constantly playing the 'national security' card". The case was brought against HMG by a range of non-governmental organisations, following the leaks of stolen information by former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden. They include Privacy, Liberty and Amnesty International, alongside a number of other non UK based bodies. One of the prominent case was about Webcam watching ,The Privacy International pressure group had said the documents released by Mr Snowden detailed the many ways that GCHQ was spying on people, many of which violated the European Convention on Human Rights. the civil rights advocates that filed the complaint (including Amnesty UK, Liberty and Privacy International) aren't happy with this verdict. They plan to appeal the decision with the European Court itself, The Tribunal agrees that unchecked mass data collection would be illegal, but contends that the ways GCHQ selects and preserves that data are reasonable The IPT’s further findings are as follows: Developments in communications technology have not made any of the provisions within RIPA ambiguous or unfit for purpose No difference of view as to the precise definition of external communications causes the RIPA 8(4) regime to be unlawful There is no inadequacy in the section 16 safeguards within RIPA as alleged by the claimants the RIPA 8(4) regime is not discriminatory Five senior legal professionals concluded that the legal regimes governing the interception of communications under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA) 2000 are lawful and compliant with Articles 8 (right to privacy) and 10 (freedom of expression) of the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR). Similarly, it concluded that the arrangements governing the receipt of intercept from foreign partners are lawful and meet the requirements of Articles 8 and 10 of the ECHR. These legal regimes were found to contain adequate and effective safeguards aimed at protecting privacy rights. in a way it's a good move , but there should be an oversight with executive power to it if things go wrong or the wrong people gets their hands on it.but it's already been done i think What are your thoughts on this? leave your rant & comments down belooooooooooooooow Bonus: Link: http://www.engadget.com/2014/12/08/judges-rule-uk-spying-legal/
  13. You've got mail. Now that's a huge text message On December 3, 1992, Neil Papworth sent the worlds first ever text via short message service . His 15 character missive ‘merry christmas’ was sent to colleague Richard Jarvis..Since then the technique was adapted & popularised by public medium as a must for day to day communication, A personal computer was used to type in the text since mobile phones at that time didn’t have keyboards.. Today, an estimated 2,500 text messages are sent every second in Canada alone. Origin of the SMS Hillebrand who was the chairman of the non-voice services committee for the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) was tasked with developing a technology capable of transmitting, receiving and displaying text messages. The limited bandwidth available on wireless networks, which at the time were the sole reserve of car phones, Friedhelm Hillebrand Hillebrand and his team had to find a data pipeline capable of sending short messages across all cellular carriers and to all mobile phones.the idea of harnessing an existing radio channel that was already used to alert cellphones about reception strength. They tested that it could send 160 characters, but wasn't convinced that no-one ever going to send more than 160 characters Friedhelm Hillebrand found that most complete sentences and questions ran around 160 characters, So thus the standard (old) .Now a days mobile devices support larger & much diverse ways to send a message.. Early GSM handsets did not support SMS, and when they began to, the protocol was only used to inform recipients of a voicemail. It took a further seven years for cross-network SMS to become available.SMS nearly didn’t happen. It was so slow out of the gate, it threatened to simply give up and head back to the stable. During the 90s and early 2000s, teenagers adopted the technology in turn escalated it's popularity among their generation The original Nokia phone beep was actually Morse code for “SMS.” Texting is so popular that among adults aged 26-35 only 1 out of every 10 people would prefer to meet up face-to-face rather than send a text message , Annual text traffic is expected to reach 9.4 trillion by 2016. Flipsyde: Here's a different perspective at things, Texting maybe very useful for everyone But sometimes people take it too far & it has it's "side-effects" it has accounted for numerous fatality on road while texting & driving , Drivers in their 20s make up 27% of the distracted drivers in fatal crashes according to NHTSA move bitch.. get out the waay.. get out the way bitch.. With that out of the way..Here are some fun facts: Teenager Marcel Fernandes Filho recently became the world’s fastest texter by writing this message in 18.19 seconds with the text “The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human” go & try that.. Texting is so popular that among adults aged 26-35 only 1 out of every 10 people would prefer to meet up face-to-face rather than send a text message. 63% of teens text on a daily basis, with some sending as many as 100 text messages per day. British surgeon David Nott performed a life-saving operation on a teenage boy in the Congo. He had never done the surgery before few in the world had but he pulled it off by receiving text message instructions on the procedure from a colleague. Research shows that elementary school students who text are actually better spellers than their students who don’t text. (AFAIK / YOLO/ SWAG) Neils paperworth Neils paperworth was 22 years old at the time of the inaugural text, working as a software engineer for the British company Vodafone to improve pager and cellphone messaging systems at a time when few people even carried cellphones. Richard Jarvis the person who he was sending the message to was at a Vodaphone Christmas party Pretty cool news Imo, Post your thoughts on this down below... 14. Under the Lime Lights... North Korea has denied any rumors that it had taken part in the massive sony hack, North Korean state-run media KCNA applauded the attack. North Korea's response was riddled with anti-U.S. and anti-South Korean rhetoric. The statement didn't outright say the North Korean government was not responsible. But KCNA called North Korean involvement "a wild rumor" and the government suggested it couldn't be behind a cyberattack on "a country far across the ocean." why wasn't this one leaked? Experts point to several signs of North Korean involvement. They say there are similarities between the malware used in this attack and that from a different cyber blitz against South Korea. Both were written in Korean, an unusual language in the world of cyber crime. Also few celebrity infos were leaked recently with their personal info's for a few Television stars & movie screen actors such as Seth Rogen is getting paid more than James Franco. 15. For Some of us High speed camera means 120fps to 240 fps on our smart phones & those who are used to professional camera maybe 1000 fps to 6000fps & even more enthusiastics it can heave upto 10,000fps & even going further it can come to 100,000 fps to the max!! Guess what?.. Scientist have developed technique where a single-shot compressed ultrafast photography is taken at one hundred billion frames per second That is 100000000000 fps. The Technique is called compressed ultrafast photography (CUP) & it's a two-dimensional dynamic imaging technique, Don't Blink.. The Camera is , as you guessed is not an ordinary camera but a specialy designed industrial strength high-speed camera. The Purpose for the camera build is for to track light as it travels and interacts with objects , so nor regular time warp application Researchers used the technique to explore phenomenas such as how light reflects and refracts, as well as how photons behave when transitioning from one medium to another One of the purposes for the build is to Study Invisibility Cloaks, you heard that right , The camera is so fast that it can actually capture light in it's path (in 2d) what they plan to do with t the technology is to study how light intereacts & behaves on & around certain object , by learning that they can research into light interactive fabric that can behave that can bend around fabric making the object literally invisible to the naked eye.. Soon this could be a reality.. CUP System Configuration: camera setup Explanation of the image above: With CUP, the photons necessary to take an image are blasted through a beam splitter and then through a tube that has several tiny mirrors. These photons are converted into electrons, which encode the data you want captured namely the time and space data necessary to create an image. All of this happens in one billionth of a second, and the data can then be arranged into a video on a computer Strictly speaking this is not the fastest camera in the world still..the fastest in the world as of now can capture images upto trillionth frames per second that camera was able to capture stunning picture of heat conduction, but that had so many limitations unlike this one. if only it could capture images in this 3d format The technology is impressive and quite complex. Previous cameras could record at roughly a billion frames a second, but could only do so in one dimension that meant you could measure space or time, but not both. And it was slower, anyway. Compared with existing ultrafast imaging techniques, CUP has the prominent advantage of measuring an x–y–t (x, y, spatial coordinates & t is time) scene with a single camera snapshot, thereby allowing observation of transient events with temporal resolution as tens of picoseconds. Furthermore, akin to traditional photography, CUP is receive-only, and so does not need the specialized active illumination required by other single-shot ultrafast images Captured ultra fast image of a laser beam shot into different medium: By the way PS equals picoseconds ie One trillionth (10^-12) of a second. Expalnation: Figure A: laser beam light reflecting/bouncing from the mirror (the mirror is drawn into the image to show the placement) Figure B shows the beam going through different medium(refracting) air into clear resin. Figure C shows Difference in travel speed between the laser beam in different mediums ..(racing) Video demo for figure A: (mirror reflection) Video for the Figure B: (Air to clear resin) Given CUP’s capability, The team expect to find widespread applications in both fundamental and applied sciences, including biomedical research. Pretty cool stuff, Would be cool to see how the technology is implied, pretty interesting...What are your Thoughts/opinions on this? Post your comments down below for us to read.. 16. illuminatti Iran's telecommunications minister has said his technicians are developing a system to identify any Internet user in the country at the moment of log-on The minister did not provide further details about how this would work, or the timing for when this system would be turned on. (duh, already is) The smart filtering services would be rolled out in phases, the ISNA reported, with services being turned on in one, three and six months. This is not the first time that Iran has been in the news for technology to ID users. In 2012, it was reportedly testing a service that would be used in public places, specifically Internet cafes (a popular way of going online in Iran, where about 30 million of its 75 million citizens use the Internet), that would require users to log in to use services. Iran has in the past denied that it was working on such services, although it has, ultimately, continued to work on ways to restrict Internet access. Either ways A recent study found that 69% (#pun) of young users use illegal software to bypass official restrictions. Pretty Bold move form the country , As much of it seems very useful , a lot can go wrong with this especially when the wrong people get their hands on it & we all know that , But Let's face it, Internet is the Best & worst thing that has happened to humanity, it's upto you now to decide to whether to deal with it or not.. 21. Update on Sony Investigation Washington, D.C. December 19, 2014 FBI National Press Office Today, the FBI would like to provide an update on the status of our investigation into the cyber attack targeting Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE). In late November, SPE confirmed that it was the victim of a cyber attack that destroyed systems and stole large quantities of personal and commercial data. A group calling itself the “Guardians of Peace” claimed responsibility for the attack and subsequently issued threats against SPE, its employees, and theaters that distribute its movies. The FBI has determined that the intrusion into SPE’s network consisted of the deployment of destructive malware and the theft of proprietary information as well as employees’ personally identifiable information and confidential communications. The attacks also rendered thousands of SPE’s computers inoperable, forced SPE to take its entire computer network offline, and significantly disrupted the company’s business operations. After discovering the intrusion into its network, SPE requested the FBI’s assistance. Since then, the FBI has been working closely with the company throughout the investigation. Sony has been a great partner in the investigation, and continues to work closely with the FBI. Sony reported this incident within hours, which is what the FBI hopes all companies will do when facing a cyber attack. Sony’s quick reporting facilitated the investigators’ ability to do their jobs, and ultimately to identify the source of these attacks. As a result of our investigation, and in close collaboration with other U.S. government departments and agencies, the FBI now has enough information to conclude that the North Korean government is responsible for these actions. While the need to protect sensitive sources and methods precludes us from sharing all of this information, our conclusion is based, in part, on the following: Technical analysis of the data deletion malware used in this attack revealed links to other malware that the FBI knows North Korean actors previously developed. For example, there were similarities in specific lines of code, encryption algorithms, data deletion methods, and compromised networks. The FBI also observed significant overlap between the infrastructure used in this attack and other malicious cyber activity the U.S. government has previously linked directly to North Korea. For example, the FBI discovered that several Internet protocol (IP) addresses associated with known North Korean infrastructure communicated with IP addresses that were hardcoded into the data deletion malware used in this attack. Separately, the tools used in the SPE attack have similarities to a cyber attack in March of last year against South Korean banks and media outlets, which was carried out by North Korea. We are deeply concerned about the destructive nature of this attack on a private sector entity and the ordinary citizens who worked there. Further, North Korea’s attack on SPE reaffirms that cyber threats pose one of the gravest national security dangers to the United States. Though the FBI has seen a wide variety and increasing number of cyber intrusions, the destructive nature of this attack, coupled with its coercive nature, sets it apart. North Korea’s actions were intended to inflict significant harm on a U.S. business and suppress the right of American citizens to express themselves. Such acts of intimidation fall outside the bounds of acceptable state behavior. The FBI takes seriously any attempt whether through cyber-enabled means, threats of violence, or otherwise to undermine the economic and social prosperity of our citizens. The FBI stands ready to assist any U.S. company that is the victim of a destructive cyber attack or breach of confidential business information. Further, the FBI will continue to work closely with multiple departments and agencies as well as with domestic, foreign, and private sector partners who have played a critical role in our ability to trace this and other cyber threats to their source. Working together, the FBI will identify, pursue, and impose costs and consequences on individuals, groups, or nation states who use cyber means to threaten the United States or U.S. interests. -End of Statement- As far as the situation goes Sony Pictures execs promising that no new leaks would follow if the studio essentially disavowed The Interview. Folding for android For the first time, anyone with access to an Android-based mobile device can help scientists perform the critical research that is needed to find a cure for the ebola epedemic,The Project is courtesy of IBM & Scripps Research Institute & is being called "Outsmart Ebola Together" The software used for screenings in the Outsmart Ebola Together project is called AutoDock and AutoDock VINA, developed by the Olson laboratory at TSRI. IBM's World Community Grid has successfully run other projects that search for drug candidates for both high and low-profile diseases such as AIDS, cancer, malaria, Dengue fever, and influenza. It has enabled multiple breakthroughs, such as helping the Chiba Cancer Center in Japan discover seven new drug candidates to fight childhood neuroblastoma. The project basis is not a new terminology for us, the basic overall procedure is the same as Folding @ Home, except this would be the first time it's been introduced on to a low power processor such as a mobile device, This citizen science effort is possible through a partnership with IBM's World Community Grid, which has been making similar data-driven health and sustainability initiatives possible for 10 years as a free, philanthropic service to the science community. As of now anyone can download a safe and free app that will put their devices to work when the machines would otherwise be idle. With their collective processing power, the computers will form a virtual supercomputer to help The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) screen millions of chemical compounds to identify new drug leads for treating Ebola. Meanwhile, the devices will remain fully available for normal use by their owners. The Scripps Research Institute(TSRI)also invites members of the public to support Dr. Saphire’s crowdfunding campaign at www.crowdrise.com/CUREEBOLA to secure resources needed to analyze the enormous volume of data generated by Outsmart Ebola Together. Woman Sues US government Over Fake Facebook page Facebook wants assurances from the Drug Enforcement Administration that it's not operating any more fake profile pages as part of ongoing investigations.Facebook's chief security officer Joe Sullivan, said in a letter Friday to DEA Administrator Michele Leonhart that law enforcement agencies need to follow the same rules about being truthful on Facebook as civilian users. Those rules include a ban on lying about who you are.. (below, is a screen cap from the actual fake profile ) Sullivan's letter was in response to a New York woman's federal lawsuit claiming that a DEA agent created a fake online persona using her name and photographs stored on her cellphone. The Justice Department initially defended the practice, arguing in an August court filing that while Arquiett didn't directly authorize Sinnigen to create the fake account, she "implicitly consented by granting access to the information stored in her cellphone and by consenting to the use of that information to aid in ... ongoing criminal investigations." Last week the agency announced it would review whether the Facebook guise went too far.The case was scheduled to go to trial this week, but court records show it has been sent to mediation.
