Hey all, I have had help from the people in this forum in the past, I am facing another struggle at the moment, I recently bought the "Acer Predator XB271HU 27in G-Sync IPS 144Hz Gaming Monitor" however when I have Gsync active on windowed mode during games, it has this strange tear effect. I have rotating picture background and every few minutes when this picture changes, it screen-tears through on top of the game I'm playing, maybe 30% of the screen for half a second or less, however this is incredibly annoying and immersion breaking (part of the reason i bought the monitor at all). I am running windows 7 and I do like having aero enabled (I'm assuming that would help fix the issue) however if there is a way i could change my nvdia settings somewhat to fix this issue that would be amazing. To anyone who reads to try help thank you very much

Over the summer, around July to August, I bought a pair of sennheiser momentum in ears(Galaxy models, btw). I discovered after only a short time that the cable on these earphones (connected to the jack. The split cables are fine) was folding and tearing. Unfortunately I cant return the earphones and am wondering if this is a common problem and if there is a good solution? I love the sound from the headphones and would hate to damage them to a point where the listening experience suffers, so I would be glad to hear anyone elses input and/or suggestions on the matter. Thanks in advance.

Hello, so I've noticed general instability within the Brave browser on the latest build. When playing back full screen video YouTube I am noticing screen tearing and occasional black flickering. This does not occur within Chrome (w/ hardware acceleration enabled) nor does it occur when hardware acceleration is disabled in Brave. I'm running the latest build of Windows (1903) and the latest Recommended AMD Drivers at this time. (19.5.2) These drivers were cleanly reinstalled with DDU after I updated to 1903. My system specs are an R5 2600, RX 580 4GB, and 16GB of 2666MHz RAM.

So ive had kubuntu installed on my L440 now for a while, but i havent been able to fix the screen tearing. Its really bad and i wanna try to remove as much of it as possible. I found this youtube video, the only problem is that there are no file called "xorg.conf.d" in the "X11" folder. What do i do now then? It doesnt let me create a new folder there, and if i do manage to create one will it work? I think i got kubuntu version 18.10. Right now it got an i5 4300m in it with Intel HD grapichs 4600, and 8gb ram. Are there any other way of reducing screen tearing? Thanks..

Hello there! So, im having this problem for the first time in my life. My screen is "waving" after my PC hits more than 60FPS. This doesnt make any sence to me, because ive builded many PCs and i havent ever faced this problem before. Some people say this is because i have 60Hz monitor, but i refuse to belive that, because as i said; This is the first time with my PC and monitor. Also my brother has PC with 60Hz screen and he can just take V-sync off and play with unlimited FPS without any "waving". I have tried different monitors, cables and graphics cards, but no. Id just like to play games with unlimited FPS. Specs: i7-930 GTX 680 Asus P6X58D-E 16GB RAM 500W PSU 500GB HDD Windows 10 Pro 64-bit HP LE2201w (1680x1050@60Hz) VGA on monitor DVI on PC Thank you in advance! -Matti

Hi there, I pointed this on a couple other forums, and it was suggested I post it here as well. I have an MSI Optix G24C that has been giving me some issues over the past few weeks. I'll be using it as normal (Gaming/Programming/ Browsing) and at random intervals it will start tearing and artifacting. Here's a couple videos I grabbed as it was happening: Example #1 Example #2 I've tried different inputs and it didn't solve the problem. I tried using a different graphics card and it didn't solve the problem (I'm running a 2nd monitor, tried on both cards with and without 2nd monitor. 2nd monitor never had issues). I've only had the monitor for about 6 months, purchased it on December 26th, along with a 2 year Instore Product Replacement from Memory Express (Canada). I took it in, and left it for service. They tested it under different inputs with different refresh rates and were unable to replicate the issue so I got it back. I ordered a new set of both DVI and Displayport cables in the off chance I had a bad cable but it still happens. WHILE WRITING THIS POST IT HAPPENED AGAIN: Example #3 I've tried reinstalling windows, updating to new gpu drivers, using older drivers, nothing seems to work. Should I try anything else? Or should I take it back to the store?

So I have an RTX 2070, a core i7-9750, 32gb of ram, I have a laptop with a 144hz g-sync monitor and a 144hz g-sync external monitor. the 144hz external monitor isn't using g-sync because my laptop doesn't have a displayport cable. I have ran fortnite on both the monitors and either way they both have screen tear, but it is worse on the external monitor. I have attempted changing the scaling options, turning on v-sync and turning off g-sync and back on, updated all my drivers for display adapters, changed my nvidia 3d settings tried capping my frames at 143 and a few other things and nothing has really helped so far. Thank you for taking your time to help me.

Hey guys, I'm building my new rig right now and while at that I upgraded my display aswell (so I thought) I bought the display I mentioned in the title when it was on sale. Now to the problems: I connected it to my old Laptop, where the display runs at 3440x1440 at 50hz over hdmi. Every now and then the screen goes black, sometimes immediatly returning to the previous picture, sometimes just going into "energy saving mode". I updated the drivers of both the intel hd 4600 and the gtx 780m im running in the laptop. further I searched for new drivers for the display but it was already at the newst drivers. Additionally I get a strange tearing artefact (much rarer than the black screen) where I get a green/violet line that appears on maybe 1/3 of the monitor, mostly in the right top corner. Its only there for 1-3 frames maybe. So, since I thought this was the problem of either Intel Hd 4600 i plugged it into my new rig (which has no coolers yet since im going custom water cooling) and used the dp cable I got with the display itself, i had the same problem with black screens. I tried an old monitor on both, the laptop and the new Pc and had no black screens. I know this is leading to a return the monitor answer, but maybe someone knows some techwizardry... the old laptop has this specification: i7 4700qm, gtx 780m, 16 gbs ram, the new pc got i7 8700k, rtx 2080ti, 32gbs ram, 750 watt psu. I attached a video for the green "matrix" artefact and a bad photo of the violet artefact. IMG_5856.MOV

I have never experienced screen tearing outside a game before on Windows. I got RTX 2070 super yesterday, and previously used GTX 1060 6GB. I'm getting screen tearing watching Youtube. The screen tearing goes away when enabling V-sync, but I don't want V-sync enabled. When I disable it again, the screen tearing is back. I could just enable V-sync for Google Chrome, but I don't think I have ever done that before. It just doesn't seem right. I have used DDU in safe mode to uninstall previous NVIDIA drivers, and I have prevented Windows from installing the GPU drivers. I have then installed the latest driver from the Nvidia website and choose the "standard" version. I don't really know what more I can do. Is this common? Possible a faulty GPU? My monitor is only 60hz, but I'm getting a 144hz monitor next weekend. I still want to solve the issue using the 60hz monitor.

Hello guys, I just bought Vp247hae monitor. I upgraded from very old hp w22 monitor but i feel like I wasted money. My old hp monitor is 1680x1050 and new one is 1080p ofc. While in game there is a lot of unclearness. I am not sure if its ghosting or screen tearing and not sure how to fix it. I provided some pictures taken from my phone that show's what it looks like. As you can see from images there is one line of text clearly displayed multiple times. Please can any1 help me out and tell if there is any way to clear this up. Pictures where you can see two monitors is best i can do to show difference between old and new monitor. Monitor on left is new one. And color accuracy is awful, just wanted to throw that out. one of pic's that shows but cant upload for some reason : http://prntscr.com/q4d9yg

I'm building a new pc and I need your help. My goal is to be able to play demanding games on full graphics or older ones, heavily modded (TES Skyrim for example), while also being able to comfortably edit large files (been working on a map which has a 2 gb size in Photoshop right now) in Photoshop and Illustrator. Most of the time I'll be working on both Adobe programs and probably InDesign too. My budget is 1600 euros more or less (1750 dollars). I'll be playing both FPS games (like LoL) and RPG games (like TES and Dark Souls). However, my current monitor is a Philips 231te4lb 1920x1080, 60Hz. I mainly play Skyrim, Dark Souls, Assassin's Creed and LoL. Will there be screen tearing? Will it be visible and make the games unplayable? I'm mostly worried about LoL cause V-Sync will increase input lag. Does anybody have any experience with this?

Hi all, I have an issue where on some games I am exceeding the refresh rate of my monitor which causes tearing. I have tried 2 different GSYNC monitors, 2 different GPU's, using DDU to remove drivers and reinstall fresh ones. The only way to get rid of this problem is to turn VSYNC on which defeats the object completely of using GSYNC. Any help appreciated as I've even been on a live chat with NVIDIA themselves who can't seem to solve this issue.

Hey! I'm new to this forum so don't blame me if I make some mistakes here haha. Okay so I got a ASUS Strix GTX 1060 6GB OC from a place called 'Marktplaats'. Well it's a Dutch site, kinda like Ebay or Craigslist I guess. The women I bought it from didn't have a receipt for me... so I was already like: "I hope this card doesn't have any problems." For at least 2/3 months it worked fine. Everything worked as normal... until I overclocked the GPU a bit. Not like a voltage overclock, just the Core- and Memoryspeed. Sometimes I failed so I had to reinstall the drivers, but then the problems were fixed. A few days later I overlocked my CPU and I guess it didn't affect my GPU cause it didn't look like it. So I thought that it could be my GPU, CPU or maybe the Windows 10 October update :/ Now I have some weird screen tearing and distortion going on with my system when my pc is going into sleep mode. I already reinstalled Windows 10 Home with al those new updates... and the problem did not disappear unfortunately. I'm really pissed now. I thought: ''Maybe it could be my monitors...'' cause people on another forum told me that my GPU was screwing over my resolution or something when I woke up my pc. But I doubt that, cause turning off my monitors and turning them back on didn't help. They were black and showing: ''No signal'' . Sometimes they turn without showing something. The only way to ''fix'' the problem is to forcekill my pc. Turning off and back on my monitors. BUT i already lost some of my school stuff and I don't like to lose some more documents again. I really hope some members of this forum can help me out!! Here are my pc specs: - CPU: i7 7700k - Motherboard: Asus Rog Z270G - Cooler: Corsair H100i v2 - GPU: Asus Rog Strix GTX 1060 6G OC - GPU Driver: 417.01 - Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB - Psu: Corsair CX650M - Monitors: AOC G2460VQ (2x), connected with via DisplayPort (I don’t have replacement cables) IMG_0402-1.mp4

Hi everyone. I've been using Riva Tuner to cap the frame rate to 59fps with a 60hz free sync monitor to eliminate screen tearing, but with some games it doesn't work. Usually it's those games that don't have full screen borderless window option in the graphics settings. How do I eliminate screen tearing without enabling V-Sync? The best solution for now is to enable adaptive V-Sync and have riva tuner with 59fps cap on top of it. Somehow there doesn't seam to be any input lag and the screen tearing is gone. My guess is that adaptive V-Sync kicks in only when the frame rate goes above 60 which means that when I cap it with Riva Tuner it's always off. But doesn't that mean that the screen tearing should have come back, like when I had V-Sync disabled? The whole situation is a little confusing.

I just got my new 1080ti and I have some doubts I wanna clear before buying a decent monitor for it. Until now I had a 1080p 60Hz TN AOC screen paired with a GTX 770, V-sync on almost 24/7. I'm planning to buy a 1440p 120Hz+ screen. Question number 1: For what I'm seeing in many benchmarks, getting some games to 120fps+ is not possible with the max settings on with a 1080ti. Let's say I get 90 fps on X game. Would I need to activate V-Sync or G-Sync? Is there any image tearing for underfeeding frames to a screen? Question number 2: Are there any screens I really need to avoid? I mean, I'll be expending like 350$+, ghosting should not be an issue at those prices, right? Question number 3: On games I know I can get 120fps+ easily, let's say Osu! or CSGO, if I'm capable of feeding almost 200fps to the screen with my GPU, could V-Sync be enough for playing at 120fps or would it absolutely trash my gaming experience?(Maybe I do not exactly understand what V-Sync is, I know what it is for, but not how it works) Question number 4: Kinda related to the previous question. G-Sync. I doubt I'll be playing Overwatch, League of Legends or CSGO. I don't have many games where I know I'll be getting tearing for overfeeding frames. Also, I dunno if V-sync can be used for 120fps gaming. Is G-sync a "must", a "buy it if you meet these requirements(list them pls)" or a "don't bother".

Yesterday I decided it was finally time to install Ubuntu 18.04 on my HP zbook studio G3. (Nvidia Quadro M1000M) I installed it as normal, along with udating the kernel to 4.17 I then installed the nvidia-390 graphic drivers using aptitude. However I quickly realised I was suffering from horrible screen tearing when doing simple tasks such as moving windows or watching full screen videos. I have tried many fixes posed on google such as: Using a different PPA Editing a file and setting nvidia-drm modmode=1 forced full composition pipeline set graphics to discrete in the bios If someone knows anything that can save me from the horrible mess of screen tearing please help me out In case more specs are needed I'll hapilly provide them (did not want to make this post too long)

So i am just wondering if any one has tearing issues with gta v on pc, i have a 1070 over clocked and a 7700hq, but every thing on very high, or ultra it tears, but its not consistent, when i put on v sync sometimes it tears and then it doesnt, also my display is 60 hz g sync, but if i enable g sync the frame rate is only kept at 60 sometimes, i usually go into nvidia control panel and enable it on windowed and full screen to get it to work , IS any one else having these issues with gta v ?

I seem to be experiencing screen tearing on the 2018 4k Dolby HDR 120hz CMI 43 inch tv. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the fake 120 even tho it's a 60hz panel. But Linus himself said that he couldn't tell a difference. It's only during fast movement scenes with small ish lines. Almost like if you look at a video of skyscrapers with a lot of windows but more common than just the occasional object. This is just watching Netflix and TBH I don't even notice it when I setup my PC in the tv room and start gaming. This seemed to get better once I turned " micro contrast " off but I'm not sure if it's just me because now I can't tell a difference and it seems to look better with micro contrast. Like it fakes HDR on non HDR content. It's also unavailable on HDR content. Anywho if anyone has any advice that would be useful. Other than that I love this TV and I guess I could learn to live with the tearing.
