So, I have had this problem for a bit now. I bought around two years ago the logitech z906 (not sure about the model, but something like that) surround set. I used it for about a year, then I had to move my PC from my dad's house to my mum's. It stayed there for 9 about months, and when I brought it back to my dad's the surround didn't work as good as it used to. I have audio output, but it seems like all the sound is coming out of the two front speakers, and is also distorted. Swapped the cables between the ports (it uses three 3.5mm jacks, one every two channels), but nothing changed. Uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, didn't work either. After doing a clean install of Windows, version 10pro, and reinstlling the realtek audio drivers and AMD audio drivers, it managed to work in the realtek app during the setup. However, when I close the app averything stops working again. What can I do?

Hey everyone, hope you're staying healthy! I have my PC hooked up to my theater set up with 5.1 surround. HDMI to TV, motherboard optical output into the receiver. Optical automatically handles the surround usually. The receiver reads 2.1 PCM until i play a movie or game and it switches to either 5.1 PCM or one of the Dolby Codec's, usually in movies, and it works flawlessly. But when I launch Modern Warfare, it stays at 2.1 PCM. I looked through all of the audio options both in-game and in the Battle.net launcher, couldn't find anything (unless i missed it). Any suggestions? I know the game supports it somehow. The game was even made with Atmos support. Thanks!

I currently own an LG C8 55" (only ARC no eARC) and i'm moving to a new house where it will be the main tv in the living room. So the audio from the TV alone won't be enough so I'm looking at a good surround, we would also use it to play music on Spotify. The wife factor is important and some friends have bose 700 surround set in white and others have sonos one's and she likes the aesthetic. My preference is Sonos devices and I'm planning on getting 2 Sonos one SL's as speakers behind the couch on stands or against the wall. I read a little about Dolby Atmos needing eARC and the C8 only has ARC so I'm wondering if it's worth to get the Sonos Arc or not? Or is there another wireless surround that's white and looks clean and works well?

Dear Community Is there a way to set up nvidia surround with 3 monitors where one of the monitors is connected to the Mainboard? I can run them all as seperated displays with no problems as I have activated IDG Multi-Monitor in the BIOS. The problem is that one of my displaycables is too short to reach the back of the graphicscard. I have already tried it with no additional tools and the display is not showing in the surround setup process. I could just buy a longer cable, but now I am just genuinly interrested if there is way in doing this. I have also tried HeliosDisplayManagement with no luck. (works if all monitors are connected with the graphicscard) Happy to hear from you, where there is hope, there is a way. Stay healthy

It's not such a simple issue, this one... Basically, some games have (what I think is) quite a useful feature where the menus will constrain themselves to a single display when using a Surround or Eyefinity setup. However, they all assume that people are using a landscape Surround setup and I'm not - I use portrait. Personally, I prefer one big screen at a normal aspect ratio over the whole super widescreen thing and so I've stuck with portrait. Games that have this "useful Surround feature" don't seem to have an option to disable it and so I always get my menus as super-tiny text and buttons on my middle 1080x1920 monitor. Is there a way to fix this? The game I'm wanting to fix it on most right now is Far Cry Primal, but the Battlefield series does it too.

So I have 3 HP S2031 monitors on a triple-monitor stand, but I can't figure out the proper values for perfect bezel correction! If someone could help me calculate it that would be great.

Hey again guys! So, i recently broke my headphones, and need new ones. I have a blue yeti mic so i dont need a Microphone on it. I mainly play games like Rainbow six siege, CS:GO, battlefield 1 etc. These are the headsets i have been recomended: Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80 and Hyper X Cloud II So... you might wonder why this title... The beyerdynamic seems like a super amazing headset... for music. It only has stereo sound, and no surround. Is this recomended for the games i play? I dont really know a lot about headsets, so any advice would be amazing. Also, i gladly take any other suggestions, as long as it is within 200$ Thanks

So I bought myself a Vizio sb3851, which is a Soundbar with a wireless Sub and two rear speakers (aka 5.1 surround sound). Thought I doing 5.1 surround sound which using HDMI-ARC (from the hdmi, through the tv, and into the sounbar). Found out that using HDMI ARC wasn't giving me real surround sound, just a fake surround sound that Vizios technology gave me. I did some research online and it said that there are two ways of getting surround sound out of a PC. One is using an optical cable (which I used from my port on my z87 maximus vi formula motherboard) to connect to the Soundbar, and wham.... Surround sound. Not really... The PC recongized this as surround sound, but my speakers were only playing throught the soundbar (aka front right and left) and the sub. Did more research and found that using optical cables will not play uncompressed 5.1 The other method was supposed to be using an HDMI cable to connect the GPU and the Soundbar directly. Unfortunately my HDMI port on my GTX 1080 is being occupied to power the 4k TV. I tried using a displayport to HDMI adapter, hoping one way another it would work. It did not help in relaying audio, or displaying 4k @ 60hz. I realized then, that I have a left over GTX 770 that I could use as a physix card, and this might be able to act as my hdmi audio. And... it is still not working. (The GTX 770, though recognized by the PC, is not showing up as an audio device). Does anyone have an other solutions? Else, any recommendations on soundcards?

I'm looking into purchasing 3-4 monitors for a gaming computer I'm going to build in the future, I would like 3 of them to be 1080p, 144hz, and curved. For the posibly 4th one, it doesn't matter as much, because it would only be used as an auxiliary screen used to monitor performance and temps and hard drives. What recommendations would you have? This set up will be used mostly for gaming

Hello, I was messing around with surround in the control panel, and accidentally applied surround for two different resolution displays. The displays get no signal when both are plugged in, and I get a signal on the larger display when one is plugged in. I tried resetting but it only works when both displays are plugged in, and again my monitors are getting no signal. Is there a fix for this? Thanks!

I'm wondering if there's a good/easy/cheap way to get surround sound with standard bookshelf speakers on my PC without running a $7-800 surround sound amp. For reference I have a Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 I'm currently running surround on with two cheap pairs of Logitech speakers.

I'm considering a 4K 144hz monitor with G-sync at the end of my semester (June time frame). I already have a triple screen setup of three PB278Q's at 2560x1440 at 60hz but I've had it for a while and I personally think it's time for an upgrade. I want to upgrade, at least, my center monitor to a 4K at 144hz and Asus' monitors has been pretty reliable in my experience. I was thinking of getting something along the lines of what Linus just showcased on the channel: Thoughts? Opinions? Suggestions? Recommendations?

Hello, I've set up all my speakers for surround, done the setup in windows and it works with the test, but when I play music or anything like that my subwoofers/ new speakers that are not R and L don't work! So I know it works, but the programs aren't affected by the changes?! Thank you, Memelover6969

So Im in the market for a new headset and for example the razer kraken v2 has a 7.1 model and a stereo model, now razer synapse has to option to configure your 7.1 channels (simulated channels anyways) but it also has a razer surround option that enables virtual 7.1 in any stereo headset, so is there really any difference between the kraken pro and the kraken 7.1? or even the corsair void and the void 7.1. if so, is there really a large difference between stereo and virtual 7.1 in the first place?

I currently have a surround setup thats 3x 1280x1024@75Hz with a secondary monitor for non-surround games (1600x900@60Hz, may upgrade to 1440p@165Hz Gsync). Computer cant run my games. Should I buy a 1080 Ti or wait for Vega or Volta? The goal is 3840x1024@75Hz. The important Game is Just Cause 3, which i cant even run at 1600x1200, it dips below 60 fps. Other games I play that are easier to run are Overwatch, Starcraft 2, Heroes of the Storm, Elder Scrolls Online, Skyrim. I will be playing Destiny 2 when it comes out. Any help appreciated! Samsung apparently is working on some ultrawide panels according to TFT central, who claim to have gotten their hands on the Samsung Roadmap. Samsung is attempting to go big on curved ultrawide panels, attempting to eliminate multi monitor setups and go into "Surround" screens. IMO I'm not entirely sold on the aspects ratios in terms of software support, however the idea of one big surround monitor sounds really awesome. OK. Disclosure: I know I'm right. I'm just trying to figure out how to tell my stubborn friend that he drank the kool-aid and doesn't know what he's talking about. Unfortunately, my rational arguments have fallen on deaf ears and he's moved on to insulting and trolling, indicating that the discussion phase of the argument is over. He's trying to convince me that multi-speaker headsets, like the Turtle Beach AK-R8 or the Zalman ZM-RS6F, impart directionality information of the sound to each ear independently. He says, "our ears pick up on real sounds differently than synthetic positioning. If I didn't give you any visual cues with a 2-channel headset and had a synthetic sound play behind to your right, you wouldn't be able to tell exactly where it was coming from. Conversely, if I had real surround sound in a room or like with ANY one of those headsets I just mentioned, you would be able to tell exactly where it's coming from because of the way the sound reflects off the shape of your ears, your brain already knows what it's doing with this." and , "Yes, with 5 speakers for each ear, the shape of your ear and the location of the speaker (for that particular ear cup) is what imparts directionality of the sound." The Horror... The Horror.... I'm trying to argue that multiple speaker 5.1 or 7.1 surround headsets use technology to trick your brain (sometimes very well) into thinking that this virtual surround is actual surround. This is done through complex sound imaging by the game or by the sound card. One ear covered by one ear cup cannot provide significant sound direction. It it not at all like 5 speakers and a sub in a large room. By putting on an around-the-ear headset, you isolate each ear and reduce your input to 2 channel: one for each ear. Therefore, sounds must be provided to each ear with varied echo, volume, delay (latency), and other processing in order for your brain to think that you're in a surround environment. People with severe unilateral hearing loss have terrible spacial audio perception. Kids with unilateral hearing loss, for example, cannot play Marco Polo after taking their hearing aid out to get in the pool. If his argument were true.... A pair of these 5.1 surround headsets would impart magical audio to their single ear during a game to let them hear the directionality of the sound. I didn't even get into discussing sensorineural vs bone conduction on this one.... What do I do or where can I have him read to help show him that 5.1 surround headsets must use virtual surround from either the game or the sound card to provide the much-loved directionality Battlefield 1?

I decided to get back into ESO today and so I downloaded it and started playing with all settings maxed with no issues. I decided I wanted to enable Nvidia surround so I could play on all 3 monitors, so I closed the game and configured Surround. When I opened the game the frame rate is absolutely terrible. It is the exact same whether I have all the settings minimum or maxed. I also tried full screen and windowed separately with v sync both on and off. Here is the kicker...when I have another window open in front of ESO, like Firefox or windows explorer, the frame rate jumps up to 60+ FPS where it should be, even on ultra settings. The second I click ESO as the active window it dive bombs. I've tried switching v sync off and on and resizing the window in windowed and full screen modes. The only way it works is if there is another active window on top. I tried a fresh download and install on two different hard drives and that hasn't made a difference. Greetings ladies and gentleman. This is my first post on the Linus media forums. After seeing the YouTube video about the ULTIMATE SURROUND build I wanted to build one as well. I am currently running a surround build but its a budget build. I currently have: Intel Core i7 950 3.07GHz 12.0 GB ram windows 7 64 bit Nvidia GTX 970 4GB Two Acer GN246HL one acer....its a old monitor but it works. The motherboard...EVGA 132-CK-NF78. its old So I'm going to upgrade them all and build from scratch. Any suggestions? My budget is at $1500. I will spend more if need be.

Today I just received my third monitor for surround gaming and have had nothing but trouble. Quick run down of my PC MSI gtx 1060 3g fx6300 hyper 212 evo GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3P mobo corsair 750 watt psu 3 Asus 23.6" VS Series VS247H-P (1920x1080) Windows 10 Monitors are connected by hmdi to dvi, dvi to dvi, and display port to dvi (graphics card output, monitor input) My problem is that my games run at 6-7 fps in all locations in the game (menus, loading screens, in game). I have found a solution but its incredibly annoying. If i set in game resolution to 1920x1080, and change it back to my native 5760x1080, it fixes the slow fps and everything works. I am at a loss and can't figured out why it would do this. I've tried switching whats plugged in where, updating drivers, playing windowed, border less window, with or without V-sync, and restarting my computer. The only thing that fixes the problem is changing the resolution to 1920x1080 and then back to the native of 5760x1080. I just want to be able to launch my game in the native 5760x1080 and not have 6-7 fps without setting changing. Thanks for all help. TL;DR Games lag at 6-7 fps when launched at 5760x1080, I can fix it by going to 1920x1080 and then back to 5760x1080.
