So, my current headphones just snapped in half. Well, not really, but one of the hinges on my Sony MDR-V55's just broke and while it's still usable, I was looking for a new pair anyways so I decided to blow my money on some GOOD headphones. BUDGET: Around 150 dollars/euros (seems to be about the same, but I'm in The Netherlands, and I buy almost all my stuff from here www.tweakers.net) Genres: Electronic, Rock etc. (Favorite bands/Artists: Radiohead/Atoms for Peace, Oasis/Beady Eye, Goldfish, AdhesiveWombat What I like: A nice bass, without sacrificing too much mids and highs. For comparison: My dad owns the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250 Ohm, and I really like those. I want it to be kind of an all-purpose headphone (or something like that). Basically, It doesn't need to be super-portable, but when I am traveling (by car/plane/train) I dont want anyone around me be able to hear what I'm listening to. That's what I don't like about the DT990 Pro's. So I guess that I want a pair of closed headphones. Currently on my list: 1. Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro 80 Ohm: Sound seems to be kind of similar to the DT990 Pro, which I already know I like. Also the build quality seems to be very good on these 2. Audio Technica ATH-M50: Was my fist pick a while ago, probably the most mentioned set of headphones on this forum, but @MayflowerElectronics has recently been saying (or I think it was him) that there are better options than the ATH-M50s at that price point. It looks like he knows what he's talking about, so then I wasn't sure anymore. Also the hinge kind of worries me... 3. ??? Anything, I'm open for suggestions I already have a microphone. I will be powering them from the onboard sound, but I'll probably buy a Fiio E10 eventually because theres a slight hiss sound when there's no sound is playing Could anything else cause that problem? So that's about it. Thanks in advance, and I gotta say, this is an awesome community!

Yesterday, a man went to The US Navy Yard and shot some people. For more information go here Yesterday I went to school like it was any other day until when I was walking home. As I neared my house I saw my dad, who works at the Navy Yard, returning home after walking the dog. I thought he might have been fired but you REALLY need to screw up to be fired from the government. So I quickened my pace and arrived at home. When I got home I asked my dad what he was doing at home. He casually said: "The was a shooting at work" at first I didn't believe him but he was serious. I was glad he was OK but I wondered why I wasn't contacted in any way. No one at the school knew anything. The next day at school we had a moment of silence followed by an announcement from my English Teacher: "It really sucks there are people out there like that and that many innocent people had to die but, that's life.*Short Pause* I knew this was happening by the end of the announcements (around 9). An email was sent out to all staff not to tell any children about what had happened in-case anyone's mom or dad worked at the Navy Yard or they might get out of control." WHAT?! If I had known that I would have called my Mom to see if she knew what was happening. What was the worst that could happen? Would a student pull out a gun and start shooting people too? All that would happens is some students would want some answers and a few might get emotional. Is that really too much for a teacher to handle and do you classify that as "out of control"? Hello, I have a question on how to cut costs when building a loop. I just added up the cost of my water cooling components and not including radiator fans, lighting, or a GPU backplate, it comes to roughly $625. :( This pricetag seems kind of absurd, but I don't know what to cut out. I have reasons for what I picked (e.g. I picked hard tubing because of aesthetics and mainly the fact that it wont degrade with dyes/coolants). I don't want to water cool just for performance (although the OCs will be nice), I want to watercool to get a silent, and most importantly, awesome looking system. Is there a way to cut this down or do I just need to accept the fact that watercooling "the right way" comes with a hefty price tag? The below pictures are just examples and not explicitly what I'm asking about. Which would you prefer in any particular situation, where you had to have one, or the other directly influencing/affecting you (i.e. video game companies, the government, etc.)? Both or neither is not an option unfortunately. Malevolence (Evil) OR Incompetence (Stupid) Chart for reference: Where "Greed" is "Malevolence (Evil)". I personally would prefer incompetence. I can out-do incompetence. To a degree. Malevolence is harder to deal with since benevolence doesn't have a default (straightforward, understood) advantage. I don't know. What about you?

I was recently looking for a new gpu since I am running a barebones GTX 660. I was going through my options when I stumbled upon a perplexing result under the GTX 780 search. I was aware that there were a lot of scams going around on ebay but this just took the ridiculousness to a whole new level. Why in the world would someone buy this? It is literally a green PCB off of what looks like an OEM entry level card from 2007 with a poorly made heatsink with cheap paper stickers placed on the fans. I never really thought of a bootleg graphics card market so coming across this listing really showed me a whole new slew of ways somebody can scam you. What is keeping somebody from placing a 780 heatsink on a 680 etc.. I think this listing should show you guys that if you see something too good to be true on eBay... IT IS! So please be wary about what you buy and if you have any concerns the forum community is more than willing to help out. -
This is completely off topic for a tech forum (hence why it's posted in off topic), but I was wondering what kind of stupid things people have seen on the roads. The sort of thing that makes you go: Just the other day I sat at a red light, when the car next to me just decided that they'd had enough of waiting and just drove off when it was still red. I was also stuck in traffic a while ago and the guy in front of me drove up onto the pavement and drove along for about 10 car lengths before turning into his drive, nearly hitting a guy walking along on his way.

Am I the only one that is having ridiculously stupid issues since updating to 8.1 (I know I'm not) I mean every startup is different, sometimes it takes a while and sometimes it comes right on. Sometimes the fucking wireless spazzes out when it resumes from sleep sometimes it doesn't, sometimes My Touchpad gestures work on startup, sometimes they don't. I mean every time I turn on the computer it's like embarking on a new troubleshooting adventure. Dear Microsoft. please die in a fire. *rant over But seriously is anyone else here having issues?

Okay, so if you're confused after reading the header of this thread don't feel bad because I feel almost as silly entertaining this idea. Also I would like to preface this by saying that if this is in the wrong section than I am sorry but honestly I couldn't think of any more fitting board than this seeing as it does technically involve a question directly related to Chroma Keying in Sony Vegas. So here's the skinny: I have a decent amount of experience working with ChromaKeying from school and am decently good at lighting things properly to get things to show up nice and pretty. So I have been trained to at least some extent on how to do things the right way. Well, today, I am going to throw all that out the window and do things the "ducktape the leaking pipe" type of way. Basically what I want to be able to is quite common: set up a green screen so that I can sit at my chair and record a plethora of different videos with my background transparent. Here's the thing though: I don't want to paint my wall and my room is very very small making normal stands not an option. With the more traditional methods not an option, this leads me to two possible ideas. The first would be to hang a cloth from the ceiling. I know this is possible and have heard of this being used as a good way to hang things. I am quite tall so being able to reach the ceiling without a step-stool wouldn't be a problem as my bed is inches behind my chair. I figured that probably the best way to do this would be to mount hooks to the ceiling and have the green screen clamp to them when needed and unclamped and stored away when not being used. I will link below with a sheet I saw on Amazon which seemed like it would work decently well. So this to me seems like probably the best way to go and I wanted to hear your guy's thoughts and suggestions on tackling this without putting a dent in my wallet. ....and then there's the other idea. I feel kind of silly mentioning this, not to mention even having the thought in the first place, but here goes: What if I strapped a green poster board to the back of my desk chair? Would this actually work? I was thinking I could easily put a little mount the hold the board in place near the bottom of my chair and it would serve a similar purpose as the cloth but be locked to my chair instead of hanging from the ceiling. I know this is probably the dumbest thing ever and the fact that I WASN'T high when I thought of this is still holding my disbelief. But I just want to know if any of you guys think this would even work, let alone be a good option. I know I can get one of those tri-fold poster boards that we all used for science fair projects back in grade school for like $10 and if that worked it would be, to quote Linus and Slick, "Kind of amazing". Plus there is the whole deal of feeling like I am Emporer Palpatine in my green swiveling throne. Either that or I would just look like a paranoid schizophrenic who broke into Staples in the night and got creative. I dunno I am really tired after all the christmas hubbub and I am kind of losing my mind but whatever I decided to post this anyway. So yeah, thoughts? Hi all you helpful guys out there! I have a problem! What it is is that whenever I right click on a windows-related element (desktop, task bar, folder, anything like that - not anything with any other program) The menu appears, but is barely visible like this: And when I mouse over it, it goes fully visible: I also had the preblem when an item in the right-click menu was clicked, the button would hang around on the screen until you restarted the computer, or until you changed the resolution of the monitor (Refreshing the monitor kinda) I was wondering if anybody knows of this problem and is will willing to help me fix it. Hi So I had my phone off all day like I usually do for school, after it was working this morning. After a long day I dropped my phone from like four feet onto the street directly on the part of my flip case that covers the screen. It didn't seem to fall hard and there didn't seem to be any damage so I didn't worry about it. About an hour and a half later I was finally ready to turn my phone off. I pressed the power button, heard the little jingle, saw the blue light flash, and felt the small vibration. However, the screen stayed completely black the whole time. A few times now I've tried turning the phone off (by pulling the battery out) and turning it back on but the same thing keeps on happening. If anybody can help me with solutions that wouldn't cost me anything, I'd be very happy. I am very upset and frustrated with my phone troubles/. Thanks all of you, Me

Hi everyone, I'm having some issues with youtube and it's one channel design. It's probably really easy to fix but I just can't find the option to change it. The channelpage of my music channel is for some reason really narrow. My "main" channelpage is the regular size. I've uploaded the same banner to both channels, and nothing changes. D Does anyone know how to fix this? Some pictures to show what I mean: [spoiler:'main channelpage (wide)'] [spoiler:'music channelpage (narrow)'] I did delete the google+ account linked to my music channel, I still have a google+ account linked to my main channel. When YouTube rolled out their new comments section I had to change stuff around on my Google+ page to get things t be how I liked them again. Somehow now when I click my name in the corner of YouTube it pops up with this weird e-mail. Anybody know how to fix this to my actual e-mail?

Has anyone seen the new retarded YouTube and Google+ Layout? I certainly have, And I hate it. Do you want the good old YouTube back? Follow the steps below to get YOUR YouTube account back to normal! 1. Click your email at the top right corner of youtube 2. Select "YouTube Settings" 3. You should see a picture of your profile picture (or not one at all) And a button called "Advanced" Click that 4. Now you should see a long YouTube link, Right next to it it says "Change Channel Link" Or "Change Channel URL" Or something along those lines 5. Click it, Now choose what you want to be for your channel URL, Just type your username in the field. 6. Now go back to YouTube settings, And you should see a button called "Disconnect YouTube account from Google+" Click that 7. Select "OK" And you my friend have the regular YouTube back! Well, I saw plenty of bugs with the new changes to the comment sections on youtube, but not all of them were actually bugs IN the comments.... For example, this one. I click on a video about Battlefield 4 and youtube plays me A DIFFERENT VIDEO! It isn't a hoax, I can tell right on the thumbnail the video is 35 minutes long. I just unsubscribed to MrSuicideSheep, so I'm assuming why this is occuring. Another glitch is that the video trailer on channel pages never shows up, are there any other glitches you guys are running into?

my friend has a gtx 680 currently in his rig. i know this is a weird setup but he wanted a 7870 and plug it in to another 1080p monitoer. question is, will this work? 1 monitor with one graphics card and the other monitor with the other one? personally, i don't know if it'd work, because what happens if i wanna update the drivers. what do you guys think? will it work -
sooo, my lenovo flex 14 screen kept flickering with white lines, it's really bothering me, there's a warning that graphics driver crashed but it flickers almost all the time. maybe it's the ribbon cable connecting it to the screen... but i don't know. what do you guys think?

Hello, A few weeks back, I was trying to isolate a problem with my graphics card. The problem was this weird clicking noise coming from the fan I assume? I couldn't really find out what was wrong with the thing, so I just popped it back in. In between removing it and putting it back in, I had to install the dreaded Intel HD 4000 graphics driver. Immediately afterwards, my monitor wouldn't display anything! I tried a whole bunch of things until I figured out that the problem was the Intel graphics driver. So I uninstalled that and everything went well for a few days. After that few days, I started to get random freezes. Not knowing what to do, I booted in Safe Mode, and saw the Intel HD 4000 graphics driver re-installed. I uninstalled it and ever since then, I've been getting the same problem constantly. Even as I speak, I'm writing this down in Safe Mode. So, my question is, how do I disable the on-board graphics? Using Catalyst 14.4, and msi Afterburner 3.0.1 (or whichever is the latest). P.S. - These "random freezes", are actually not so random. They happen literally 15 seconds after boot. P.P.S. - Uninstalling it (even in Device Manager) does absolutely nothing other than delay the problem by 10 seconds.
