Hi, I'm going to start off by saying thank you. I realise this sounds so stupid, but bare with me. I have a Cooler Master Silencio 550 and recently purchased a 240mm rad as I am undertaking a custom loop. I can't fit a 240 rad in the Silencio. Here's the kicker: I knew I couldn't. I bought a 240 rad knowing about the cooling efficiency vs a 120. I understood that I might as well be buying an AIO if I were to get a 120, which people have said will give about 1-2º difference to air coolers, so I thought, well, whats the point? But I digress. Does anyone know of anyway to fit it in until I buy a new case? (I plan on doing this) Any tips? Anyway I could mount it on top (I have rubber grommets on the back) without screwing holes? (I want to sell the case in the future) Thanks for any advice, I realise its so stupid, but this is PC building haha Chris

https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=178&v=v9xVeWzdYDI ...especially when they explain it's for their Youtube channel and do this kind of absurdity (mildly putting it here). I guess I shouldn't complain, it is due to idiots like him that I get paid to take photos. May parents keep on giving birth to such fools. Is this guy a member here? This is also why I always tell people the manual that comes with your camera is the No.1 book you should read.

So considering I couldn't see any topic the same as this, I thought it would be interesting to see what songs people can't live without. For those who don't understand the premise of Desert Island Discs (DID), the idea is: select 3 songs that you would have to listen to for the rest of your life if you were stranded on a desert island Select 1 other item that you would like with you There is no internet or other forms of man made communication there is no power source, so no taking your PC with you I'll start with my three choices of songs being: The fellowship of the ring theme song Bohemian Rhapsody-Queen The Scientist-Coldplay

This project will be put off to the side until my APU overclocking guide is completed. <_< So I plan on using this PC as a home networked device of some kind? (have not decided yet and will explain why at later date..) As you can probably see in the photo's I am using some pretty old hardware why? Well I plan on bringing it up to date with the latest stuff like SATA ports, etc (Plan on adding SSD'd to this and ya I know I will be limited to about 1.5gig to 2g speed wise from my calculations) I am going to modding this to be water cooled and see how far I can overclock it. Hardware Specs: Motherboard: ASUS P4S533-X Socket 478 CPU: I've got a few Pentium 4's and a celeron. GPU: geforce fx 5500 (NOTE: All but 1 of the capacitors blew so I soldered some replacement ones on with higher heat temps lol. New ones 16v 105C-(1500uf) original 16v 1000uf.) RAM: 2x1gig sticks kingston WIFI CARD: Linksys wireliss-N PCI Adapter Phone modem card: Might use as fax machiene or something else.. PCI expansion card thing? MS-6958 Ver:2 (yes will use will explain later) Monoprice 4 Port SATA Serial ATA PCI RAID Controller Card - Silicon (Link to buy is here https://www.monoprice.com/Product?p_id=2667&catargetid=320013720000066114&cadevice=c&kpid=102667&gclid=CjwKEAjwh6SsBRCYrKHF7J3NjicSJACUxAh7MwuNwc-BYpbp_Ma3qUw8B2dupElhpKFO2zlW7uvEqhoCtA7w_wcB) PCI 32bit TO PCI-e Express 16X 8x 4x 1x adapter card ( I plan on throwing in a GTX 750ti just to see..) http://www.aliexpress.com/item/PCI-32bit-TO-PCI-e-Express-16X-8x-4x-1x-adapter-card/292141759.html Summery: So it will be water cooled, it will be overclocked, it will have sata-1 support, it will have SSD's, it will have a GTX 750ti or smaller GPU depends.., it will be insane and will be running windows 7.

While checking out Gigabyte's EZ Setup software I mistakenly switched from AHCI to RAID Mode. Will this have any adverse affects if I'm not actually using a RAID? Obviously, I can't go back without reinstalling Windows.

With smaller coins easier to mine then Bitcoins it's sorta profitable if the market is right so I was wondering what type of hash rates does a Fury X get? I don't plan to get one just wondering. Does the HBM do any good or worse? AMD was top dog back in the Bitcoin craze. Also does anyone here still ZiftrCoin Mine? The price went from $.5 to $.001 but now it is back up to $.06.

so my boss at coop asked me to fix his pc and take all the junk off it, so i formatted it and re-installed windows 7 64bit(pirated) and now the onboard speakers don't work, if i plug headphones in they work, but not the speakers built into the desktop, i've uninstalled and re-installed drivers, i've changed the default playback device, and even went into the BIOS to check that the integrated audio device was enabled, im stuck, i cant think of what to do. any ideas?

So I have just been made aware of a class action lawsuit taking place in Canada regarding price fixing on RAM that happened from 1999-2002. Basically things like this are ridiculous as Linus and Luke have covered on the WAN show a few times in the last week, but I did want to let all you fellow canucks know that you are entitled to $20 if you bought some sort of electronic device containing DRAM around the turn of the century. Here is the link: https://themoneyismine.ca now can these stupid lawsuits stop. EDIT: there is also a pretty *special* video that the law firm on the case posted worth checking out if you want a chuckle. http://www.dramclassaction.com/

So as you can tell I'm a very new to this forum, even though I've followed Linus Tech Tips for quite a while now, so I thought a good way to introduce myself was to share a humbling experience, and see if anyone else had some stories they would like to share. Sorry if I messed any thing up as far as making a new topic goes... So I was playing Skyrim like any ordinary day on a y510p a moderate gaming laptop, now there's one flaw with it's immense power, if it's not plugged into the wall, it doesn't work correctly as in: it doesn't supply enough power to the GPUs to get a playable performance. As a result I was getting a frame drop every 10 seconds. So I being an idiot spent about 4 hours every day for 2 weeks trying to figure out what was wrong, I tried driver updates, rebooting the thing, uninstalling things from the hard drive, running infinite virus scans, updating the BIOS, re-installing windows, and smashing my head into a pillow and screaming, until one day I tripped over the power chord while trouble shooting, and plugged it back in only to find it wasn't plugged in all the way, or something was obstructing the cable, I had wasted countless hours of my life for the same reason when you need to blow on a N64 cartridge when your Mario Kart 64 doesn't work. Do you guys have any other tech face palms?

I have been thinking of this question for a while, but not having the hardware has prevented me from trying it. I know it sounds stupid, totally impractical, and should never be done for storage due to the un-reliability. Can you Raid 0 a Raid 0. An example being, 2 3TB drives in one Raid 0 and 2 more 3TB drives in another Raid 0. Can you then Raid those two Raid Arrays together? It's completely throwing what RAID is out the window as Raid is all about redundancy, hence the R. I was just wandering If it is possible and what performance you would get if using SSD's.

Today i almost set my computer on fire, i have a NZXT cb-led20-bu sleeved led kit. I decided i didn't like it in the expansion slot so i put it in the bottom of optical drive bay and i guess two of the solder point connected via the case or something cuz the lead cored from the psu melted the plastic coating and sleeving. lol just about shit my self! had to pull the plug outa the back and am now trying to rewire it.

Stupid question, but who cares... I wont do this, but if I buy a cheap GTX 295/480 would it be an upgrade from my 750? Thanks

please help me fix windows audio/reset it, no system restore so i wanna just use windows audio and have it WORK , front panel connectors are correctly plugged in and the olny time i ever got windows audio to work correctly was on a fresh install and with it running through my yeti microphone , but for some reason or another something broke, magically and i makes me want to SCREAM, so i can no longer use any of the regular ports as they just flat out dont output audio . how do I do a full reset on windows audio , no i will never use system restore and im damn sure that realtek installs wont fix it , no matter how much I do them, or install it differently (all of which methods ive tried, the generic or the motherboard manufacture ones just break it. p.s i also have linux mint dual booting and its audio just WORKs , didnt have to install anything or change a single setting , all of the inputs work and i can switch between them as i please. plox help

I really like having an Ultra-wide monitor setup, I had a 5x 1280x1024 setup with different brands of monitors, and they all sucked, aside from one of the dell displays. Recently, my dad's work had 2 syncmaster 204b displays in storage that didnt work, and I brought them home and re-capped them and they work awesome. I also noticed that he had a 204b on his workstation, and I traded him my only widescreen monitor (also a recapped samsung...) for it because I wanted 3 identical monitors with no differences in color, response time, ect. So I proceeded to swap out all my old monitors for these 3 "identical" 204b displays. One of them, the one he used, has a drastically different color! I look at these monitors and the two that I replaced capacitors in were manufactured in 2007, and the one with different color, 2008. Obviously samsung decided to put good capacitors in the 2008 model, and they also decided to use a different LCD. How do I calibrate these? I reset everything in each monitor, and this is where I am. No matter that I try, I cannot get the monitors to look the same. Is there a piece of software I can use to change a monitor's color, dispite being in an eyefinity setup? I really wish I had color controls like my onboard Intel graphics has.

Hi guys, I imagine it would display all the files just like a normal windows explorer window but me clicking on any of them instantly allows me to rename the files as this is all it's purpose is. It would also allow me to jump between directories easily. That's just my "perfect world" idea though. Anything similar would work. I have 1000+ files to rename in multiple (300+) directories. So... yeah. :| Help is appreciated. I haven't started yet, as I'm waiting for the files to mirror onto another server, but once that's done, I'll be editing them (Monday, or 72 hours from now roughly).

As a gamer I drink tea quite a lot while gaming and have wondered this question: If I let the tea evaporate all it's water content, what's left behind? I mean, what's causing the water to change color and taste when I add a tea bag in? It would be cool if I do get a powder or some sort if I let the water evaporate. I could store the tea powder instead of tea bags.

While I am waiting for Smite to install I though I would post this - I've done a few stupid things which I should have looked into more or should have known better. Here are some as far as I can remember: When I followed a tutorial on how to install arch Linux, I did not realize that it went on to completely formatting the drive, so I lost everything. I recently rooted my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 tablet to update from Android 4.0.3 to Android Omni 4.4.2 and is was very successful; I had to keep replugging in the headphones every time an app opened because the sound stops working for some reason, but apart from that it works fine. The problem is that I encrypted it later on and now the recovery shows up the Internal drive having no storage left along with being completely unaccessable. I heavily used my old laptop for gaming and for only having a GT 445M it handles very well, but I let it reach 100oC on the GPU one time. You really could feel the heat emitting. I took the laptop apart to find the thermal compound has melted, thankfully though it is still going strong with no sign of ever dieing. But, the most stupid thing I have ever done is buy a PC from PC World... You should never buy PCs from PC world.

So i built my new computer some time ago and went all out on the performance. I got 2 GTX Titans, this was before the 780 or 780 ti was even released. I have recently desided to sell my Titans to get 780 Ti's while i can still get a good amount for them. So i sold one on ebay for $1000 which only gave me 870$ because of 10% for ebay, 3% for paypal. I grabbed one Asus 780 Ti and have installed it. I have this Titan just chilling here until i sell it soooooooo.... DEDICATED PHYSX CARD WITH A TITAN!!!!! I guess Borderlands 2 will run great!!

So this video : Was made by the popular UK T.V show "the gadget show", I just wanted to share it with you because it made me so angry. If you watch this I am sure that if you watch this even the most simple of pc enthusiasts should be able to point out the flaws in their argument. For example they point out how you don't need to use a desktop for storage because you can carry around 1tb of storage with a Kingston hyper x predator a close to 1000 quid memory stick. There are so many other annoying things in there that I urge you to please watch it and to dislike it. Oh and also it's not in this video but in the full show after the clip had played they showed a 2000 pound Alienware laptop and said that that even hardcore gamers are using things like that. I don't know about you but I hate everything about Alienware and I will stick to my lovely desktop pc.

I thought it would be fun to start up a thread where we post about funny things people have done in games. Here's mine: I was in BF4 with some friends and then a guy on the other team starts calling hacker. About our whole team (or near enough). Every time he died, he started yelling (in full caps) about how we were hacking (like when he was killed by tanks and stuff). Eventually we (my friends and I) confronted him in the chat, and one of the things he said was that we were invincible. His ping was 46 so everything was fine, and nobody else was complaining. He then said he normally played Hardcore, and didn't respond when I told him HC had 60% health but Normal mode has 100% (but kept on calling hacks). He was 2-8. Eventually he rage quit. The best part? He is rank 116 and has played the game for nearly 500 hours. If it was a noob I would slightly understand, but after playing for that long... it's impressive. What are your stories?
