Hello everyone, I have a weird problem that started happening a few weeks ago. I don't really use my computer that often (approx. 3-4 times a week). When I press the power button, all the lights turn on, all the fans start spinning and all that, but I don't get anything on the monitor, it doesn't even turn on and I have a motherboard speaker plugged in and it doesn't necessarily beep but makes an underwater sound kind of. I tried resetting the BIOS by pulling out the CMOS battery and it doesn't work. I tried reseating the CPU, the GPU, disks, tried to push in the cables (thought maybe a cable somewhere was unplugged a little bit), no luck. I switched out my RAM stick from slot #2 to slot #4 and I passed POST and booted up completely normally. After a few restarts it happens again and I have to reseat the RAM into a different slot to POST and boot. I know I have dual channel memory motherboard and I only have one 8 gig stick in slot #2 usually, but I am not sure if that would cause this kind of problem. My specs are: CPU - Intel core i7 4790 (non-K) GPU - Sapphire Toxic R9 280X MB - Gigabyte Z97-HD3 SSD - Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB HDD - Seagate Barracuda 1TB PSU - Thermaltake Smart SE 730W RAM - Kingston HyperX Savage (1x8GB) None of these components are overclocked or have ever been overclocked. Thanks in advance!

Hi there guysI'm have an issue with my graphics card.. it is a Asus 1060 6gb OC and suddenly I've been having problems with 3d softwares, crashing and all always at the same time (usually when they depend on the gpu effort).. I was looking for what could be the problem and checked that on the gpu monitor that the clock was stuck at 250mhz even when i was pushing hard for it... the base clock is around 1600mhz so.. even in idle, it shouldn't drop as low as it is right now... I always install all the updates for the drivers and since sunday, I've reinstalled the drivers, did the clean install with the removal of all drivers behind in safe mode and all and still gives me the same problems...any advice? could you help me here?thank you

Hi, guys.. My PC was freezing while my sister was playing youtube on background + move her photos, she rebooted it with reset button and i checked nothing special on Event Viewer, nor BSOD appeared.. My thoughts 1. I just moved my pc into hotter place, and got throttled easily with my previous underclock setting, but it won't rise as hot as 70'C+ , last night i played OW + record using shadow play and can't get any higher than 70'C.. 2. I use HDMI to VGA adapter due to incompatibility with my monitor, perhaps it got so much heat? 3. Any idea? Error on Adobe Flash? Hardware Acceleration etc? If you have same problem, or have idea to prevent further problem, please help me:v thanks

Hi everybody! My first post on this forum (or any tech forum for that mind). I've read the pinned thread of not asking the same question twice - and I've had a look through threads looking for my problem, and can't find it, but apologies if someone has already answered this. I've been thinking of building my own computer for a while, and when the black Friday sales came up, I bought my final components and commenced with the build. The specs were: Raven RVZ-02 Gigabyte B150N Phoenix-WIFI Socket 1151 Mini-ITX Intel Core i5 6500 3.2GHz Socket 1151 6MB L3 Cache HyperX FURY 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) 2133 MHz DDR4 CL14 Sapphire Radeon RX 480 Nitro+ 8GB GDDR SilverStone SST-SX500-LG V 2.0 500 W Strider SFX Gold PSU SanDisk Ultra II I put it all together, and other than needing tweezers for fingers, it was a pain-free experience - happy days! Then it came to actually switching the thing on. It turned on (hurrah!) and the Gigabyte logo appeared on the screen and all was well. I had a play around with the BIOS before deciding it was time to install Windows 10. I downloaded the Windows 10 media creation tool, popped it onto a USB thumb drive, and started the installation process. Success (of sorts), all seemed to be going well until I realised I'd started this process away from my router, and didn't have the WiFi antennas. So when it asked to connect to the internet, I thought that I'll just turn it off, and redo the process next to the router. Big mistake. So the next night, I moved the computer to next to the router plugged it in, and started again. I cleaned the disk using diskpart in the command prompt (thanks Paul's Hardware on YouTube!), and started again. Hmmm, weird, it paused at this screen, at some random percentage: Right, turn it off and on again. Same thing again. And again, and again, and again. So I updated the BIOS, tried changing a few settings (please don't ask me what they were, they just seemed logical after reading around this subject on the internet), and was met with the same issue. All in, I must have tried about 15 - 20 times (including using Rufus to create a bootable ISO). Each time stopping at a seemingly random point in the "Getting files ready for installation" section. And then finally last night, it got through the "Getting files ready for installation", and both the "Installing features" and "Installing updates". But then seemingly froze on "Finishing up". I left it on overnight, but to no avail. I hoped beyond hope that this was just a glitch and that it had done everything it needed, but after turning off and on, there was no Windows. Please select bootable drive Which brings me to my current state - utter despair. If any of you kind souls have any advice, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

When I turn on my computer, it would sometimes be stuck at the motherboard splash screen and just stays there. Pressing any buttons like F2, Del, F11 doesn't work when it happens. But a reset (press reset button) always works and launch the PC into desktop. It's not a big problem but definitely an annoying one. I find myself switching on the PC, go get water and expect the PC to be ready in desktop but it's stuck on the mobo splash and requires a reset. I created a thread a few days ago about getting a new cooler to my CPU. It finally arrived to day but got a major problem when I removed the old stock cooler. At first the heatsink wouldn't come off of the CPU so I started the computer back up again and had the cpu at full load for about 20 minutes at around 75 degrees celsius. When I went back to try to remove the heatsink again, the whole CPU came with it. The problem I have now is that it seems impossible for me to remove the CPU from the heatsink. The old paste is stuck like glue. I have tried to use cotton swabs with alcohol around it, I've tried to use my hairdryer to blast heat around and I've tried to use dental floss with alcohol but can't find a way to get it between the CPU and the heatsink. I'm not sure what to do at this point and I don't want to damage my CPU.Should I try to heat it with my hair dryer for a longer period of time? Are there any tricks I can use to get it off?

I have a super old IBM thinkpad running Windows 98 that I use to play Starcraft, Empire Earth, and other stuff. Out of curiosity, I enabled the 2 color mode to see what it would look like. However, it wont let me go back, and now I'm stuck in 2 color mode. When I set it back to 16 color mode, it asks to restart, but when it restarts it's still in 2 color mode. Any ideas?

Hi everyone, I recently discovered a problem with one of my PS4s right before going on vacation to another country. I few days ago I came back to my country again and started to analyze the problem, but I unfortunately haven't found the solution. Here's what's up. The PS4 turns on, but instantly goes to safe mode and asks me to update the PS4 using a USB. So, I downloaded the PS4 update from Sony's website, but it then requested the other download, the "Complete System Software File". I went once again and downloaded the other file instead, but it alerted me that all the data on the PS4 would be delete. So, of course I didn't proceed with that. I don't want to lose the savegames I have inside (Before anyone asks: No, I don't have PlayStation Plus, so I can't re-download the saves). Here's what I've tried to do so far: [Booting into Safe Mode] - Rebuilding PS4 Database. - Applying Default settings. - Updating PS4 using USB, Internet and a Disc. [Connecting PS4 HDD to PC] - Tried to recover data using EaseUS, RecoverIt and other programs. - Booted my PC with the latest Ubuntu OS to see if I could access the Data (Thought this would make sense, as the PS4 is using a Unix based OS) All of these attempts were unsuccessful. After trying to recover the data using the PC I read online that the PS4's HDD is encrypted, making it very difficult to access it. So, today I was once again trying to solve this issue and I came across this: Website: https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps4/Files_on_the_PS4#Partitions Do you guys think it would work if I formatted that last partition and tried to update the system again? I really don't know what to do anymore. All I want is to recover the savegames. So, if you guys could help me with this, I would be very thankful.

Hello, I am stuck in the BIOS and can't get out of it to fully boot up. To clarify, I can save and exit the BIOS, but the PC then restarts and goes right back to the BIOS, and it continues this cycle. I don't know what happened, but I had just finished watching a youtube video, stepped away from my computer for a couple minutes, and then came back to find my computer in the BIOS. I can see my ssd boot drive and hard drive in the BIOS, as well as both sticks of RAM which show up. I have tried hard resetting the BIOS by pulling out the coin-sized battery. I have now updated to the latest version of the BIOS (2001). Neither of these things have changed anything. I've tried disabling fast boot and I have CSM enabled; this hasn't changed anything either. I haven't been able to disable secure boot though since it's greyed out (I don't know if that would make a difference). I don't have anything overclocked either. I have no idea what else to do. My computer was working perfectly fine and then this happened out of nowhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! I have a gaming Laptop, which I bought used but in mint condition, Asus FX504GM (i7 8750H, gtx 1060 6gb, 8gb ram) and using windows 10 pro, original cable and charger. -Laptop is plugged in and the battery is charging. Battery works well. -Power option is already set to High Performance and CPU min and max is set to 100%. -I already tried reinstalling windows, drivers. -I already checked BIOS and could not find any multipliers or other related settings to CPU, power, thermals or this issue. -CPU is not overheating and gets stuck on 60 C degrees, -Fan is spinning. -I tried running ThrottleStop but it has an issue. There were two .dll and after adding them to the folder, I started getting error "unable to start correctly error (0xc000007b)" What else I can do to resolve this issue? Has anyone ever dealt with it before?

Hey there, i bought an Display Unit of an Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2016 for a very low price at my local retailer. However, when i plugged it into my rig the Keyboard would just sit there and do its Wave effect and would not respond to any Keypresses. So i figured that it must be an Driver issue and have gone ahead to install Razer Synapse. Windows and Synapse both detected the Thing just fine, but it wont respond to presses. Can it be that it is stuck in some sort of Demo Mode ? And if so, how do i disable it. I tried to hold ESC + CTRL while Plugging it in but that did not work.

Components: Mobo: MSI B450 Tomahawk CPU: Ryzen 3600 Hey Guys, first time builder here and I'm already regretting it. After no working usb-ports and no signal, I tried everything the internet has to offer and got no results. So I wanted to see if I accidentally bend any pins on my processor and here we come to my newest problem. The CPU is stuck. The Lever is up and the small plastic part slightly moves to the right but this thing still won't budge. (Image attached) Has anyone had any similar experience or an idea how to fix that? Thanks to everyone upfront :)

Hey all, Relevant specs: i7 4690 biostar hifi b85n 3d XILence performance cooler: I250PWM I'm new on this forum and created just an account because im stuck. My CPU fan started going crazy since yesterday. It goes on a fixed high speed not per se maximum speed when I start up my pc. Note in Bios the fan goes to a normal speed. Okey here short list of the thing I noticed and tried. Reset Bios (cmos) nothing happens Change fan mode in bios to manual etc. nothing happens I noticed here that the measured fan spd doesnt match the actual fan spd so calibrating doesnt seem to help. Used speedfan to try and alter the speed nothing changed. Did notice the fan isnt always on max spd but some fixed high spd. Connected a case fan to the cpu fan output on the motherboard. This fan also goes on a fast fixed spd. So CPU cooler should not be the problem. I'm willing to replace my motherboard but don't want to rush things. Thanks in advice for your replies

I was trying to find out from where fan sound was coming from, i tried to see if it was PSU's and i used compressed air's pipe or what ever its called to stop the fan from spinning but im afraid it may have sliced the top part of pipe and im worried it may be stuck in PSU but i pointed flash light trought PSU's ventilation while checking every corner from inside and found nothing, no strange noises from PSU or any pop sounds. I mean its only a piece of plastic im worried it may be stuck inside, i shaked the psu and heard or felt nothing so i dont know. Would it damage my PSU even if it was stuck inside? I used red one and here's how it looks compared to white one, i dont remember if red one was even smaller than white one thought. I also tested by trying to stop rear exhaust fan of PC case from spinning with it, but pipe wasnt sliced at all, but i dont know because i cant tell if exhaust fan's and PSU's fan's speeds were same. I doubt plastic fan would be slicing this sort of thing just out of ease right? PSU fan's dont even spin that fast probably like 600-900 rpm i think idk i never checked.

No matter what game I play, my r9 270x's core clock is stuck at peak 450 mhz even though all applications such as radeon settings and afterburner have it set as 1050mhz(see pictures for reference). Because of this I'm not able to even get 60fps in games such as mirrors edge catalyst at medium settings when I should be easily able to achieve that. Could be thermal throttling but as the pictures show, temperature peaked out at just 79C. HELP PLEASE my other specs:- Asrock x58 extreme 3 mobo Intel Xeon x5660 @2.8ghz 8GB ddr3 fsp 550watt psu

My GTX 1070 is stuck turboing to 1911Mhz every time it is under load. It causes instability and just doesn't work well. It was fine before I tried to creep up the base clock and I got to a point where it crashed and now, even after turning it way down, it won't stop boosting. I never touched the voltage - only the power target, base clock and memory clock. All are now at their default levels. Anyone know what to do?
