Because of a phishing attack from my discord account. His steam account was stolen with password and email changed. How do I help him recover his account. No methods have worked so I choose the 'Contact Steam Support' option. P.S no 2FA was enabled. But is there anything I can do except the 'Contact Steam Support'

I am having an issue with Orcs Must Die 2, its is freezing upon launch (just a black screen). I have spent 3 hours trying to fix it with no success. When i try to verify the game files in steam I get a message saying "1 file failed to validate and will be reacquired". I have tried reinstalling both steam and the game, have tried adding exclusions to antivirus, even tried removing antivirus and turning windows defender of, I have also updated all drivers and ran the game in compatibility mode. Nothing has worked, short of reinstalling windows I have ran out of ideas. Can anyone please help. If needed My specs are: -AMD Ryzen 7 3700x -GTX 970 -32GB DDR4 -Windows 10 64bit

Hello, I have been encountering an issue where many applications will become unresponsive randomly, usually either fixing after 1-2 minutes or needing to be forced to close. This has happened on File Explorer, Steam, Steam games, and Corsair iCue (though this might just be iCue being jank). Curiously, Chrome and Discord have been notable exceptions from this issue. I have yet to test any other programs. I have tried reinstalling Steam and defragmented my drives, as well as updated everything I could think of (Steam, Windows, GPU Drivers) and nothing has worked. Does anyone have anything else that might fix this issue? Currently cant play any games because they eventually freeze and disconnect me.

My Son wanted to play Plants Vs Zombies Battle for Neighborville, I purchased purchased it under my steam account then let him play under my steam and EA accounts. This was a little over a year ago. We got them new computer that could handle the game to replace old hand-me-downs. So went through the horrible process with steam to set up family and share my small steam game library, daughter also be came interested in games so set up her laptop. After doing g some reading saw that only one could play the game at a time, so purchased them each a copy. Set up EA registration for minor under my account, since EA won't allow regular accounts. I then tried to start game and it won't star because won't accept the ea user names created be not real accounts. I then tried the option to enter key, but those don't look to be available any more in steam. Over all STEAM family share was horrible then the EA debacle. I decided just to use Microsoft store / Xbox app and family accounts to share share games, monitor play, and give controlled freedom with funds for Xbox app for PC purchases. Still can't play plants vs zombies battle u less under myaccount, but the have minecraft dungeon and regular minecraft. They also have all the Halo games. Was really interested in getting steam to work with their own accounts and share my library but it is to much of a pain, spend all day trouble shooting cloud it issues and want to play with the h I am interested in or games with kids not trouble shoot kids accounts. Wrote EA and have not heard back yet. Launching a gaming device I hope they make changes to kids accounts.

So I've never submitted a post on a forum before so let this be the first and hopefully I can receive some help ASAP. This isn't an issue that I have but my little brother does. A little back story: My little brother and I both have custom computers that I personally built. His computer was probably the fifth or sixth making me no stranger to personal computer building. As of this post my brother has had his computer for well over a year now and as of three weeks ago from when this post was made he comes into my room asking for help since the games he's trying to play constantly keep crashing. I brush it off and tell him to update his graphics drivers and it should work. He comes back no more than fifteen minutes later saying it still wont work. I then assume its an issue with steam and tell him to download the latest version and try that, still nothing. I then tell him to uninstall and reinstall the games but nada. We sleep on it and try again in a few days. He then tells me something that strikes me as odd. Games like halo run fine but when he tries to play tomb raider its an instant crash to the system. Alt tab won't work and everything is frozen. I then suggest to try a much less demanding game and seeing what happens. So we load up his favorite game "The ace attorney collection" and same thing, crash. He then tells me that something like minecraft works fine but other games don't. I suggest he tries basic updates to the system and restarting and still nothing. About a week after this he reports to me that sometimes he'll be watching YouTube and windows will crash and a recovery screen will show up. I've never seen anything like it. The main issue we're having at this point is trying to decipher if it's a hardware issue or software issue. One night I get the idea to update his motherboard as he has never done so. After doing that the games did load up but crashed soon after. One mistake i've made when building his computer was not downloading all the drivers for his parts. So I try that and after downloading ryzen master and loading it up I notice that the EDC for his CPU is running at 99%. but his thermals are fine (not sure what that means). it says running at 90A but the recommended is 200A. So off to google again and I end up on a toms hardware forum where someone had the same issue. We tried changing windows power balance, going into the bios and still nothing. My brother asked if we should just overclock the CPU and that should fix it but I don't want to do that as I'm not comfortable enough and don't know if it will even work. So we are at the point where everything is updated and reinstalled, windows power settings are adjusted and thermals are perfect, the only visible issue I'm aware of is the EDC being at a constant throttle and certain games working. Anybody with any Ideas please help!!! PC specs: Cpu: Ryzen 5 2600 Motherboard: Asus b450 GPU: 1660 super Ram: 24gb storage: kingston 960gb TLDR: little bros custom pc randomly starts crashing on certain games, Basic updates and fixes were tried but not a success, only known issue is EDC in ryzen master showing 99% and 90A out of 200A. couple of window recovery screens and crashes but thermals are fine and monitored constantly. out of ideas and need help

Hello everyone. I built a new PC and it runs great, but i found that there is an issue with some games on steam and the xbox controller i am using. I rember this being an issue with an other build i did but forgot the solution. I also already tried to toggle some settings on steam but it seems to only work for some games and not all. And the reason why i know it's a Steam issue is because games on other launchers work as they should. Another random thing though, is with the settings on from steam, anpther shooter I was playing, jumping in the game would cause the gun to fire for some reason. The issue changed when i turned the controller settings off in steam. It wasn't even a game launched on steam. >Settings i tried: Toggled all settings off. Toggled these settings on. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello All, As is, I currently have the mid-tier Steam Deck reserved as I believe the increased storage capacity and quality of storage is worth the $130 increase above the lowest tier Deck. I previously didn't believe that the top tier was worth my extra $120 on an anti-glare screen and more storage, however after seeing reviews on the Deck and how many people are buying top tier Steam Decks over the other offerings, I'm starting to reconsider my position. My main questions are: Is the $650 Deck worth that extra price? Would I be better off keeping my mid-tier reservation and using the extra cash to buy a high-capacity micro SD card? How much "faster" is the storage on the top tier model and is it worth the extra speed? How big of a deal is the glare on lower models? The early sales numbers just kind of surprised me as I didn't expect that much volume of the high-end model to move. I am in a financial position where the extra $120 wouldn't deter me from purchasing the deck, just requires a little extra thought before clicking buy. I'm mainly looking for purchasing advice and some insight on the improvements of the $650 Deck that make it worth the extra money over the mid-tier version. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

For the longest time ever on steam I have had an issue where if I download a large game my game downloads with peak around 60mbps but then suddenly my mbps decrease little by little until the download drops completely and starts downloading again, I get lowest speeds up to 400kbps. I have tried a lot of troubleshooting from Firewall to Windows Defender, changing download region and capping my speeds but to no avail.

Hello I built a PC a while back and ever since whenever I seem to download something after around 20gbs just seems to jitter and eventually cut out? I have tried this on many different connections now as this has occurred over the last year. This issue occurs with my antivirus turned on and off, including windows defender firewall. I thought at first this was a disk issue however even with new hard disk this issue is still present (check picture below for crystal disk readings). Restarting my computer allows the download at regular speed for around 5gb before it cuts out. This mainly occurs through game launcher apps such as steam and battle.net (with battle.net the download just stops entirely, steam creates those jitters as seen in the pics below) Have been in contact with steam and they reckoned it was a network issue, so I was looking for some help in that department. I've recently bought a new network card to see if the Ethernet port on my motherboard was the issue however it still occurs on that as well? Maybe I have accidently clicked or enabled a network feature on my pc to cause this issue, other devices on the same network does not have this issue, but I'm lost haha. When does it end? Is there a date? If I understand correctly it should last till June 8th, but I am unsure. Also, does it end "equally" for all games (not sure how to put it, but I think you'll understand) or does it vary and some games go back to normal pricing sooner than others? Thanks

I'm considering buying a Steam Deck when reservations go live but I'm hesitant because I'm not really interested in shelling out an extra $129 for the NVME SSD version. Its noted on the Steam Deck page that the Steam Deck will have a highspeed Micro SD card reader. Is it practical to buy the $400 model and get a high capacity Micro SD card to play games on? And if so, how does one look for Micro SD cards that are capable of running potentially AAA games with reasonable load times? I want to help finding a good SD card for maybe $60-$70 or get some advice on how I can narrow my search for a good SD card considering SD card speeds are not an area I am very well informed and I don't know what is considered fast enough for this purpose. Thanks in advance!

I am having issues launching games and modifying program files on my computer. I can run Discord, Steam, Origin, and Epic game clients, but cannot launch any games associated to them. All of them give me the "[insert name here] has stopped responding" error message. I have tried to uninstall applications to try to see if I have a misbehaving app, and the uninstall clients all stop responding, and has also given me this error with trying to use the "Reset this PC" in the windows recovery menu. I am unsure of what is causing the issue. I rolled back a recent windows update which didn't help; ran the sfc scan tool in command prompt which fixed some files which fixed some corrupted files, but not the root cause of my problems; and did a deep scan of my computer for viruses and malware using AVG. I also tried to download another anti-malware (malwarebytes) to try and fix this and even the installer gives me the same error. I am at a loss, any help please? I have included images of some of the apps that have run into this error. My specs: Ryzen 3 2200G @ 3.8GHz, Vega 8 @ 1300MHz 16GB 3000MHz RAM Gigabyte Aorus B450M The game is stored on WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM drive (which I dont think causes this issue, because the drive is only utilized around 45-50% while playing the game). So, initially the game runs flawlessly at around 45fps all low. But after 30-45mins, it starts freezing/stuttering, like the game freezes for half a sec in which it does not register any inputs, and this repeats after every 10-15 seconds. I thought my overclock was unstable, but it happens even after reverting it back. Also, every other game runs just fine! (GTA V, Rocket League, Control, all round 45-50fps) I've tried with Freesync off, but then it looks kinda shitty -.- Today I was tinkering with the setting in Forza and running benchmarks repeatedly. each run was successful with 0 stutters, but after around 30 mins, it started again (even in the benchmark mode). Now whatever I do, the stutters happen T-T Is there any way to diagnose what is happening? Thank you.

Building a new rig (sans GPU ... of course) and I'm stuck with a conceptual issue as I migrate tasks ... what storage drive should hold what? Windows / Steam and other Game Client Apps / Steam Library ... What is best in my scenario? PLEASE read, asking very specific questions. Thanks. Mod: Not sure if there is a better sub to put this in ... its gaming, its storage and its general tech. If it belongs elsewhere, leme know, I'll move it ... or you can. Old Rig: C:/ - 1TB Nvme M.2 SSD holds the Win10 OS, Photoshop (Elements install not CC), other Apps AND Steam software and most other game clients. D:/ - 1TB 2.5 SATA SSD holds Steam library and some mission critical personal files and win config backup files. E:/ - Another 1TB 2.5 SATA SSD holds a slew of tech testing apps I dont want taking up room on either the others, and music is in there too (dont use it much). - Actual photo files have kinda spread amongst the above over time, and I dont like that. I do/will not use Lightroom, so lets not drag the convo that way. - I have about 15 odd games in the library, will have up to 20, but I'm fine with deleting old games I finished and not interested in anymore. - There's also a NAS in raid 5 with 24TB doing long term storage duty, photo RAW storage and working photo backup, and a portable 4TB deep-six mission critical backup occasionally plugged into the NAS, and a cloud backup of that so I have 3-2-1, but none of that is involved in this question. New Rig: - A new 2TB 980 Pro Nvme M.2 PCIe3 and the above mentioned; - existing 1TB Nvme M.2 - and existing 2x 1TB SATA 2.5 SSD's - but I will probably keep the testing apps and music on one, and use the other for all working photos. Question: I am bouncing between: 1) - C:/ keeping the OS on the old 1TB Nvme M.2, and thats it on that one (as well as use as a daily driver temp doc, pdf and online and my doc and desktop file dump I can lose with an OS drive fail or corruption), - D:/ for apps and libraries on the new 2TB Nvme M.2 - put the Ps app (no photos), Game installs, game clients AND steam libraries on it, - E and F:/ and use one 2.5 SSD's for tech apps and music and the other one dedicated to just working photo holding during edit. OR 2) - C:/ Cloning the OS, and all Ps, game clients, etc - on the 2TB Nvme M.2, - D:/ steam library ONLY to fill the old 1TB Nvme M.2. - E and F:/ and use one 2.5 SSD's for tech apps and music and the other one dedicated to just working photo holding during edit. There are pos and neg ... both ways. The obvious benefit to 1 is safety and long term Win10(11) health that a fail wont affect much else. The obvious benefit to 2 is by giving the steam library to its own Nvme drive, I can very easily upgrade the size one day to 2 or 4TB, and nothing else is disturbed. Is there a performance difference either way, or is it smarter to take any performance hit, but keep the OS segregated from all the apps? Of course I am open to alternate options. What may matter: * I DONT INSTALL A LOT, so no real concern about running out of room on C:/ drive either way. * New mobo is an Asus Hero Z490, so I know I lose the m.2 16x speed and both M.2's will run at 8X ... and that sucks, but I can still add 4x2.5 ssd's (room for 2 more). * I wont put in a 3rd M.2 as I will lose those two sata slots. Yes ... I thought about it for just apps and game clients, but I will be maxed out for any other future potential drive. * Also I'm running an i9-10850 (big dip 10 minute Newegg price; $300 Canadian ... hallo) and 64Gig 3600 (i know ... overkill ... future protecting till my next new build in a world of affordable PCIe5 and DDR6), so I dont expect any lag or game studder between 2 fast Nvme drives (ie: Win - client - library). * Waiting for an Asus Strix 3080, I'll continue with my 1080ti till then. Long I know, sorry ... but I have to figure this out, looking for help for anything I didnt think about. Thanks for reading this far, any thoughts?

Hey LTT-Crew! Nowadays there are many Cloud Gaming platforms. Being blessed with an old but still strong computer, I want to assume those possible comforts in my home. My setup is my PC (debian bullseye) and a Raspberry Pi 4 (4GB) connected via (m)HDMI to my TV. Both are wired up in 1Gbit. What I'm trying to do is to stream Games from my PC to the RPI4, i.e. to the TV. I know the RPI is capable of playing 4k videos, so I thought a 1080p game can't be too hard when the PC does the calculations. The road so far: - RDP -> Works better than expected, but not good enough to reach the "acceptable"-mark. - X11 -> completely fluent for everything but gaming and videos - Steam -> Quality-wise exactly what I'm looking for, but it has the downside off mirroring the screen. This is somewhat important as I would like for the PC to be usable while I'm playing. So in essence, I'm looking for something between X11 and Steam's remote play. I'm looking forward to read your ideas!

I am trying to get started using Linux and have selected Pop OS. I installed steam and started downloading games and it worked for a week. Now whenever I try to download and install games from steam and sometimes just launching steam the entire system freezes and the only thing I can do is to press the restart button a hard shutdown. Please help. I am new to Linux and have not been able to find a solution to this problem anywhere. I am not sure if my drivers need to be updated or how to do that. PC Hardware. Ok, so, I'm just wondering if anyone has some obscure fix for this. Other downloaders like Epic Launcher, Ubisoft, and Blizzard Launcher don't do this. The pretty much stay at full throttle through the whole download/installing process, im at my wits end with this dumb issue. My second rig has the same exact issue. I'm pretty versed in networking and computer operations and have tried a lot of one off fixes in the past. If someone has any sort of fix for this please respond.

Hello, I have been having a very annoying problem while trying to do downloads like on steam. I have a 1 Terabyte TeamGroup GX2 Sata SSD (I dont think this has to do with the problem though). Whenever I start a download my disk usage climbs up to 100% and sits around there and the download starts to go slow. I have tried methods like stopping superfetch and defragmenting my drive to no avail. Is this a normal thing or is there a fix for it? My downloads used to not shoot up to 100% disk usage and would go smoothly and quickly. Also, I do not think it has anything to do with my internet because I have speedtested it and it is working just fine on my phone as well. Any Ideas?
