Back story: My C Drive was getting full, so to make space I copied one set of program files before deleting them to put them into Program Files (x86). Came back the next day to find certain program icons were missing (although only 2 apps weren't working that we also missing icons). As I hadn't created a restore point, I decided to System Restore but saving all my files and only wiping the apps. Spent the day reinstalling apps and everything seemed dandy, now that everything was being stored to my A drive (3TB) Problem: My monitor has built in speakers and I also have a headset, so I can switch between "gaming mode" and "movie mode". When I first bought this monitor, it created a separate Playback device under the sound settings and everything was well until yesterday (Back story). My monitor is connected by the rear jack and my headset by the front ones, they both work fine however instead of having two separate playback devices that I can choose between, they've collapsed into one. So if one device is unplugged the other plays fine but shows the audio value still coming from the same playback device. The playback device info is showing 4 jack points (even though I only looking at the 2 audio and input jacks), when these devices were separate, the monitor had two and the headset had two. Even if I unplug one and then reconnect it to see if that will force it into a separate device profile to be made, but nope. Even my Reatek shows that both front and rear audio jacks are active on the same device setting. I've even downloaded and installed the most recent driver and I have no clue how to fix it. Like I said, when I first connected the monitor and headset, they worked independently but now I can't figure out how to separate them. Was just wondering if anyone else has had this happen or has any advice. Thanks

Hello again, when using my earbuds, I set the volume to very low. When plugging in the speakers at my friends home, I set the volume to almost max. Somehow Android detects what device ist plugged in (although it is just a 3,5mm analog conection) and adjusts the volume atomatically. How's that possible? Does my phone measure the impedance and associate a specific impedance with a specific device and therefor a specific volume-level? Or is Android looking at my position and guessing what device I will most likely use at this location? Or is it something completely dfferent I overlooked?

So about a month ago, I decided to up my speaker system. I had the Logitech z506, but I use my speakers mostly for music (for gaming I have a headset). After searching for a while on what options I had (according to international reviewers), I then looked at my budget and what was available in my country, and decided to purchase the Edifier Luna eclipse e35 speakers in red. First impression: Sexy AF. Good looking speakers. Shape is quite unique (at least for me), and the finish on them is amazing. Great packaging, and the cloth sleevings to protect them while shipping is a HUGE plus. Inside the box we find all the essentials: The two speakers (duh), a remote controller, 3.5 mm aux cable to connect to your device, and a proprietary cable that connects the left speaker to the right one. It also includes a microfiber cloth, and the user manual. Setting up the speakers: Pretty straight forward. If you've ever setup two speakers before. Other than that, no drivers or anything. Just plug and play. Audio quality: Great bass, the tweeters provide good highs, but the mids are kinda-sorta-pretty much- not really there. The speakers sound range is a "V" style. High bass, high well... Highs, and the mids are lower. Controller: 3 buttons; On/Off, Volume up, Volume down. With that order. Minimal design, feels kinda flimsy but it's good. It does it's job. Other features: Bluetooth, and touch sensitive buttons on the right speaker that do the same exact job as the remote controller. Bluetooth is a great feature that I missed not having on the Z506's, and the power LED changes from red to blue to let you know you're going wireless. However, the audio quality has a albeit slight, a noticeable drop in audio quality (makes sense). As for the touch sensitive buttons on the right speaker, I avoid them like the plague. The speakers are fingerprint super electromagnets. Hence, the microfiber cloth that they give you. I keep the controller next to my keyboard, have the audio on the speakers just above the middle, and control the volume via my keyboard (has audio roller thingy). Nit picky things I don't like/would have done differently: Huge temptation to touch the speakers while music is playing, and you can visibly see the oscillation occurring (don't touch the tweeter, don't touch the tweeter, don't touch the tweeter...). If you have music playing from your PC, and you open the Bluetooth on your cell and connect to the speakers, they prioritize Bluetooth over the 3.5 mm aux cable. Would have added a fourth button on the controller for Bluetooth/aux. Final thoughts: Compact and affordable, they have a great price to quality ratio, and they are a solid purchase in my book. Other than the minor complaints I have about them, they are great. For there size, quite loud. Clean looks (no huge logos on the front, matte finish up front, glossy color on the rest), and with a few colors to choose, they will accent your build perfectly.

Hey guys, After much debate with myself, I've decided on a build. I'm now working on peripherals. I'm currently still rocking a speaker system that came with my very first dell PC in 2003... Yep.... Anyways, looking to upgrade. I have no idea what is even out there, so I just want to know what you guys think. Looking for something with decent audio. Doesn't have to be the most excellent system ever. Thanks in advance!

Yesterday my 30 year old giant Sharp stereo system died on me after decades of good service. I wanna buy a cheap 2.0 pair for about 110-120$ for my pc and my AT LP60 turntable. I thought about the Bose Companion 2, the Creative t40 and the Édifier r1280. Which of these would you guys suggest?

I am looking for a solution/idea to solve a problem for my living room setup. I am open to nearly any setup that may work, looking for ideas. I have a device, let's call it "A" which has a HDMI output, a PC with speakers connected and a TV. I want to get the HDMI output of "A" into the PC (a way to get an HDMI input) so that I can see the content in the TV and hear the sound with the PC speakers. To sum up VIDEO: Device A --> PC --> tv AUDIO Device A --> PC --> Speakers PD: the reason I need to use the pc speakers is because i need to be able to have 2 volume levels at the same time (one for the speakers and one for a wireless headphone) because my father is a bit deaf. This is unachiveable with the tv.

Hey guys, I'm looking for a speaker system that can plug into my computer with a standard headphone jack, and also be connected to via bluetooth. Can you guys recommend anything for under $300 US?

Hey Guys, Just was wondering if anyone has some suggestions for good desktop speakers. I'm willing to pay around $500. I live in a studio apartment, so I'm really not looking for anything that gets super loud, mainly just good audio quality for music, Netflix, and maybe a little bit of gaming. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hi guys, Let me start with the requirements. I want: 1. Comfort is key 2. Multi-use (Wireless, USB, 3.5mm) 3. Speaker quality with solid bass 4. Sleep function would be nice and easy to charge 5. Able to hide the mic and use it as a normal headset So those are my main use for it. I have been using the A50's and I really love the audio. Downside for me is the mic that can't be hidden and a big issue is you can't use it through USB or 3.5mm without the receiver. That is a bit annoying. I've been testing the G633 which is like the G933 just not wireless but the comfort doesn't seem as good as the A50 and also the audio volume is really weak especially the bass. So I have to decide to keep the A50 or get the Man O'war or G933 and well not 100% sure which is the best.

The task is simple, new speaker cabinets will be coming soon from a friend, but sadly, the tweeters and the low frequency drivers are dead. I need to know some hi-fi speakers manufacturers. Why? So i don't buy some crappy drivers and then cry about it. Name some you trust, if you know any, or just any you know that produce good quality speakers. Thanks quys

GOAL: easy simultaneous multi-output audio control. EX: I will play a game (SC2 usually) and have audio going to my headphones and simultaneously music coming from my 3rd screen TV. This is nice because I can have my music loud but the important game audio is right in my ear and the audio is not competing on 1 output for priority. SC2 has nice audio settings that enable me to accomplish this by having the in-game settings mismatch my Windows sounds settings. This way I can have chrome-youtube (or preferred music provider) play through one and the game another. I would like an easier less tedious way to accomplish the same thing all in one place. Also it could add this functionality to games that do not have has good of audio settings features/ Any good programs or suggestions?

Hi guys, I am moving to a new apartment and unfortunately I had to leave my old speaker system behind. I really cannot decide what to get. Things to note: I live in Europe(Bulgaria) so the availability is quite limited. Usage for speakers: 70% music, 20% games, 10% movies. Sound coming from my mobo, Asus Z170i with SupremeFX. I am not an audiophile, or at least not yet, but I love good sound quality. I like to have good lows (I listen to a lot of electronic music as well as hiphop), as clean as possible and details in mids and highs(I do listen to classic music as well). Budget: would like to keep it under $500 but I am ready to pay more if really worth it, I definitely would rather save as much as possible as well. I also like to keep it energy efficient as most things in my new apartment are very efficient. I do like they to be at least decently loud. They need to at least look decent. Based on my research and considering my needs, it really doesn't matter which system I am getting, 2.0, 2.1 or 5.1 for active systems. I have been considering getting a AV Receiver + 2 speakers to start with, but it seems just so much more expensive, I am not sure if it is worth the quality improvements (please correct me if I am wrong). Under my consideration was getting the Sony STR-DH550(~$300) receiver, but it just doesn't seem to be that great and the reviews aren't amazing either. To that I will have to add at least a pair of speakers, probably at least $300 for the pair? Again, I would do that if someone tells me that is truly worth it. When it comes to 5.1, Logitech z906(~$300) don't sound terrible, but they definitely lack clarity in my opinion. For 2.0 I like the Edifier R2730DB(~$290). Seem to be decent entry level studio monitors (maybe a bit large?) and also have bluetooth, which is not necessary but definitely nice to have. I really like AudioEngine's offerings but unfortunately they are not available in Bulgaria. Bringing them from abroad would set be back way too much, I really doubt that is worth it. That is ~$600 for the A5+. Other speakers I am considering: Microlab Solo 7C 2.0 (~$200) Edifier S1000DB (~$315) - not sure if loud enough Edifier S730D (~$400) Tannoy Reveal 802 SET (~$450) - not particularly attractive. I am really stuck, I need some opinions, suggestions, criticism, anything. Really, any help is appreciated.

So last night my speakers died and while I'm still mourning, I know it's time to move on and get me some new ones. My budget is about €100 (this includes taxes). I might spend up to €150, but then I need to be sure that the price is justified. I use my pc for watching movies, gaming and listening to music, so I'm searching for some good all-round speakers. So far I've found these Trust GXT 38's for €75, but I was hoping you guys could present me some alternatives. Oh yeah, might be worth mentioning: preferably, the speakers would be a 2.1 setup. I don't want the hassle 5.1 (wire-wise) and I want a strong decent bass (that's where the.1 comes in). Thanks.

Hello, I want to build a system for my music experience to improve because right now it's pretty shitty. First I was looking at Z reviews and wanted to buy the Fluance Signature Series but they only ship in Canada and the U.S and I live in the UK. I'm a real newbie when it comes it sound but I do know I need to buy a Dac and a subwoofer. Also, my budget is 300 GBP, you guys got any suggestions? Thanks.

Hello, I am looking for either a sound card or an external dac/amp for my pc. I currently have RHA T20i Black as my IEMs and as my headset I have a Razer Kraken 7.1 V2. I want either a sound card or an external dac/amp to make them sound the best they possibly can, because I am a budget audiophile. I would like to have knobs for bass and gain and stuff, or an eq software for a soundcard, but I dont know which will be better, or what kind. I am looking to spend less than $100. Thank you for helping me! P.S. the Razer Kraken 7.1 V2 is a usb headset, so I need to also find an adapter or a dac/amp/sound card that has a usb audio thing. THANK YOU!!!

In desktop builds, the monitor has an audio jack and the PC has an audio jack. Are they both different in some way? Is one preferred for headphones and the other for speakers?

I have these headphones: AmazonBasics Over-Ear Wireless RF Headphones with Charging Dock I have this TV: Emerson 40" 1080p LED LCD TV (LF401EM5) I want to try to switch audio from the headphones to the speaker without constantly disconnecting the headphone dock from the television. Is there any way to do this with a switch or some kind of device/settings? Thanks in advance.

Like the title suggests, I'm searching for the best possible 2.1 speaker system I could get for $50. Currently I'm using the Creative A250 speakers and I find that their sound is very tinny and the bass is very underwhelming. My main use cases are for casual music listening while doing hw, gaming, etc. If it is possible (this is very extra, not really that important), I want the satellites to be 7" or below so that they could fit under my monitor and free up some room on the desk (uploaded an image of my current setup as reference). I had my eyes on the Thonet & Vander SPIEL, but I'm still not entirely sure. The very most I'd be willing to spend is $100 or below. Thanks in advance!

Hey all, I have a wedding upcoming and were planning on skipping the DJ and just doing the sound ourselves and I was hoping to buy a sound system that could be reused as a home theater system after the wedding or a home theater system that would work for the wedding if that makes sense. The reception will be fairly small only around 100-150 people in a building around 40ftx100 ft. Not looking for anything too high end would like to keep the cost under $500 if possible. I would like to have at least one mic for announcements and such. I really don't have much experience with home theater or sound systems. If anyone has any recommendations or info about how to go about setting up a home theater system to work with a mic and the adapters or cables that would be required that would be great. Thanks

So my room was built kind of strangely where there's a few inches of space between the upper crown molding and the ceiling. There is a strip of lights that goes all around the whole thing, and because of this, also several outlets up there. (Pictures for reference: http://puu.sh/tmZPZ/2d94d512ae.jpg) So I want to take advantage of this and put some speakers up there, which I would connect to with either bluetooth through my phone, or just my computer. What is the best way to do this? I can't route wires through walls and I'd prefer not to have wires dangling all over my room, and the speakers need to be decently small to fit up there, so I thought I'd find a small bluetooth speaker, buy 4 of them and somehow "compile" their signals with like an amp or something? But I have no clue how this would work. What should I do?? Tl;DR How do I connect 4 speakers to one phone via bluetooth, or to my computer?
