Hello everyone. After looking for and researching the best closed-back headphones at my mid-range price point ($100 - $200) I have come down to two options. The AKG K553 Pro or the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x. I am aware that open-back headphones have a much nicer soundstage that closed-back, but the sound leakage from open back headphones are a deal breaker. I hear that the AKG K553 Pros have a larger soundstage than most closed back headphones, which sounds like a major benefit compared to the M50x's "decent soundstage." I wanted to see everyone's opinion on the two headphones before I make a decision. Thanks for your help! Hey guys! So I found my old surround sound, and i was wondering if i am able to connect all of this to my laptop? (HP Omen 15). I use an external monitor, and from what i know i could just connect via HDMI. However, i have a old receiver and there is no hdmi port, so is there still a way to achieve true 5.1 surround? Or would i get stereo? Would i need to a buy a new receiver to achieve this? Thanks!

Hey guys,so for the past few days i have been using the razer kraken 7.1 chroma and today i realised that my sound quality differs,if i restart my pc and play a song its really clear and sounds awesome,but if i pause the song and play it again it sounds like crap,so does any other audio including youtube,everything sounds crisp and awesome when i play it after restarting my pc then i pause or close it and when i play it again it sounds like shit,some help would be nc

I recently got an asus dg audio card but so far i dont belive that i can use it though because i dont think my motherboard being the asrock z87 oc forumla has the right pci for it. I am looking for the absolute best sounding headphones you can buy for under $100. I know there is not 1 best choice because sound is really subjective. I would like to know your oppinions and if you can give me a detailed description of the sound. I do not care if they are big, small, pretty or ugly so long they are not unbearably unconfortable or so hidius I will be ashamed to admit I own them. My budget can strech to $200 but I would rather not spend that much money, only if it is like a super sale that is a $1000 headphone for 200 bucks. I will be using it mostly for music. I listen to all kinds of stuff. Mostly classical, rock, pop, edm and dubstep and some rap. I would also like to watch movies and play games decently. I could say I am a newbie to headphones so I wont understand if you get too technical. Thanks.

Hey guys. So, I see it's mostly all about gaming in here... BUT, I have a few questions about editing. What I'm going to have is a lot of sound input throudh a fairly large external soundcard (studio style), and I'm going to record & edit this. That means a fairly heavy sound editing software, and going for mostly 10-15+ tracks that are full of VST plugins etc. etc. What kind of specs would you recomend boosting for this kind of rig? SPECS: i5 4460 Haswell Refresh 8GB Ram Samsung EVO 120gb SSD (OS is installed here) WDD Black 1tb (games installed here) Galax GTX 970 Gigabye H97M-d3h Thermaltake Smart E 730w Windows 7 Ultimate The problem is that when I boot up my pc, it usually has a crackling sound when Windows 7 starts up. It affects all of my system sounds like music/video/video game sounds. The crackling sound stays and it even causes my music to lag. The only way to resolve this is by restarting my PC until the startup tune sound normal (i.e. no crackling). Sometimes I need to restart it several times to get it sounding normal. after that, the sound issue doesn't come back until I shutdown and boot up freshly. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling all my audio drivers. Disabling my integrated graphics and mobo audio, reinstalling my OS, checking if my GTX 970 is plugged in properly, checking my memory sticks, and my HDDs but everything seems to be ok. I am running out of ideas on how to diagnose and find the problem. Could it be my video card? Please help! ***it is not my speaker. My sound comes out from my home theater in a box 5.1 surround sound and it works 100% fine with blu-ray playback. This is definitely an issue with one of my PC parts.

So Asus is probably updating there Xonar Phobeus "gaming soundcard" line with the Strix Soar,DLX Pro. Also they apparently have headsets too the Asus Strix pro and Strix 7.1 They some how manage to always stick an eyeball into there products. For the sound card would you invest into a strix or a real one like the essence stx II Also would you invest into there headsets? -
Hey guys I'm new to forms due to the fact that i try ti fix things on my own. however this issue has got me beat. My sound has started to skip and crack and just out word lag. it starts good when booted then as i use it for long time it starts to get worse. this first stared about 2 months ago. i use to be able to play games and watch a video at the same time at max resolution with no issue what so ever. I guess i should give you my stats so here you g^_^ Motherboard -Asus Maximus V Formula Cpu -i7 3770k (4.6ghz) over clocked. Ram -16gb Vengeance 1866mhz Graphics card - R9 292x2 from asus PSU -AX1200 From corsair Hard Drive -main drive Samsung 500 gb Evo840 -Storage drive 4TB From seagate. on a three 1080P monitor array. OK now, things i have done was tried to clean up the registry, clean up my start up and ran my pc in diagnostic mode and still got the same issue. also tried to disable and enabled my sound and other drivers. i really don't want to format this drive. so i need all the help i can get please and thank you.

hi there folks, I am in the proces of upgrading/changing my current ATX system to an ITX system. Now ive already ordered a new processor (4570) and am looking for a good motherboard. Currently i am using a Hyperx Cloud headset in combo with a asus DG. Since there is simply no room for this card in my next build, i will have to look for an alternative. Or do you guys know an itx motherboard that has a decent enough audio chip? Reviews of the Hyperx Cloud suggest that you should pair it with some kind of soundcard/dac amp. do you guys have any suggestions, i am kind off at a budget been looking at the Fiio E10K, but it's price is quite steep for me, so will it be worth it? love to hear from you guys! So everyone says 7.1 virtual surround sound is meh. How does it compare to real 5.1 also is there a difference is Razer Surround and virtual 7.1 surround sound. Is this headset worth it as it seems like the main thing selling it is the 5.1 because for $10 more I could get the Sennheiser g4me one. $15 less Steelseries Siberia Elite Prism $10 less HyperX Cloud II. So it seems like the main thing selling this headset is the real 5.1 so is it worth it. Also what is the difference between this one and this one

Hello. So I got my new MSI GTX 970 4G today and when I installed it and joined Skype with my friend he says he can hear my music and PC sounds. (I tried starting and pausing a few times and he picked it up, so he's not being an ass) Audio quality is also different since the new GPU. I've had this problem before, but with headsets. The SteelSeries Raw Prism was the latest one, and I swapped it for a HyperX Cloud and no problems at all. Before I had the 970 I had a 560-ti as back-up cause my 270X died. During those two graphics cards there were no problems at all other than the Prism headset. When I listen to my mic in windows and play music at the same time I can't hear any sounds that've echoed through the mic, all as normal, but he can hear it in Skype. The case with the Prism was that I could hear everything if I listened to the mic and it would echo out of control to a just a high pitch beep until I turned it off. This is incredibly annoying as I play a lot of CSGO and I don't want to pester my teammates (5 pre-made) with in-game sounds and I don't want to use push-to-talk in Skype. ---- Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit i5-4690k 4.2 GHz Corsair Vengeance 8GB MSI Z97 Gaming 3 - BIOS 2.0 (Was unable to flash to 2.2 and haven't tried since for fear of bricking it.) Let me appologize that i know that this is in the wrong section, but i know by posting it here, more people will see it. Sorry for my bad english in advace! Let me explain my situation: I have had my Razer kraken pro for about 18 months now, the moment i bought it i realised the sound was just TERRIBLE (my 15 euro headset created better sound in my experience) almost like listing to a tin can. So after some research i found out that razer surround would be able to fix that. So after turning off the awfull bass boost it has inside and tweaking arround with the equalizer i found the sound to be great/acceptable again. Now since a recent update from synapse ( atleast i think that is what the problem is) the program seems just buggy and unstable. Basicly this is how i startup my surround: i boot up my pc, startup razer synapse via desktop, untick the box that say's "enable virutal audio device" and then tick it on again. this worked great for as long as i can remember. THE PROBLEM STARTED AFTER AN UPDATE So i can't remember what update it was it was around januari/february, basicly what is happening is this: i would do the same as i describe above here, but when ticking the box on again, the program would just freeze and the windows blue loading wheel cursor would appear and i was unable to do anything in the program. So i reinstalled the program wich made the program not freeze but i would still get the windows blue loading wheel cursor. At first i was like, well i'll deal with it, i would still load the razer surround fine, so i din't pay much attention to it. Since the last two months the audio has been changing allot, basicly the volume seems different, the quality can change it's VERY annoying!!! What i have also noticed is that some youtube video's only play into my left piece of the headset here a video that it happens on: ( it's mostly on videos from this channel and some others like IGN) but it's not on all most work just fineIf i keep unticking/ticking the "enable virual audio device" after a few attempts it will change to the quality it used to be. I have tried allot of thing to see if anything would fix it: Reinstalled synapse+ surround 3 times Updated my realtek HD audio drivers Contacting razer support, this is really not helping, been having over 20 emails with some guy and nothing he has suggested has helped me ( he made me post a bug report and now just replys to my e-mails with: IT IS IN THE HAND OF THE SOFTWARE TEAM WE HAVE TO GIVE THEM TIME BLA BLA BLA it's been 2 weeks since i posted the bug report now) Tried if it helped if razer synapse started up with windows The only thing that seems to help a bit is: when i play some sound before i activate the razer surround driver like playing a song for 10-15 second, it seems to go to the normal sound, but not alway's The only thing that i haven't tried is a full fresh install of windows, but that seems very extreme for just 1 piece of software that is not a part of windows. The only big thing that has changed during this time period is that i switched my antivirus program from microsoft security essential, to the free version of avira but i don't think that would be the problem Sorry for my long post but i just can't seem to find out what is causing this problem so i tried te be as specific as possible. Hello guys, this is my very first topic on this forum, I've been browsing it for some time now and I felt like this is the best place where I could get the best support and assistance. Today my Logitech Z506 (5.1) arrived, I installed everything correctly, there's no way to mess things up since the cables are colored along with the ports. I tried to configure everything so I can hear music output from all speakers but it seems like only 2 of them work. I opened the realtek audio manager, changed it to 5.1 Output, enabled Center, Subwoofer, Side pair, Front left and right, Surround speakers settings. Whenever I click the "Test" button, it plays a "ding" sound on every single speaker (all five of them + the subwoofer) - that means I configured everything correctly. However, when I try to play a song on YouTube for example - only 2 speakers work. I tried downloading a song and play it with KMPlayer - yet, only 2 of them worked, not all of them. Any assistance would be appreciated, please help

I'm currently an Australian student looking for a powerful laptop with the intention of doing intense gaming and sound production work, as I'm doing music technology. For this reason, I'm looking for a quiet machine with a 15.5" screen or above, as the 14" laptop I have at the moment is not enough. I have looked at a lot of laptops and I'm pretty sure I know what to get, but I just wanted to see what you guys could come up with! I'm willing to do some upgrading myself (even the screen if necessary). I have a budget of $2000 and I'm absolutely sure I can't carry an mITX system around Uni .

Hi guys, I bought the Sennheiser Game Zero two days ago and got really exited when it arrived yesterday. Except for the fact that I get really low bass tones, like almost non existent. As far as I could test the microphone, will do some more testing this afternoon didn't have the time yesterday evening, the mic is not that great? At leats I'd expect the mic to be worth the money I spend on the headset.. I am not an audio junky and I am in need of some input on what to do here, a friend recommended this website to me since the community is really nice and actually contributes to your question so here I am. I've read a bit about the low bass tones and the low microphone and came up with a variety of answers for people that were using specific hardware. Well I am using the onboard sound card on my Asrock Z77 Extreme4 motherboard which has the Realtek ALC898 chip if I'm correct, and I wonder what would be in my best interest (meaning having great sound quality and a great microphone). There are apperantly no drivers available from the Sennheiser website for the Game Zero headset and what I kind of want to know is, can I get the microphone to work properly and the bass tones to improve by buying a sound card? (preferably I'd like to achieve this without spending more money, but maybe I should stop dreaming and face reality that I bought a stupid overrated product.). Someone stated that if you want to get the maximum out of this headphone I would probably want to buy the http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/320500/creative-sound-blaster-z-%28retail%29/specificaties/, but then again that would be another 80 euros I'd like to keep in my pocket. So that.. or; I'm on the brink of doing this but maybe I should just return the product and hope I get a refund on my money and buy something totally different.. What do you guys think? I built my new AMD A10 7850K(This is my first gaming PC build) machine about last week and it's really loud(Like a server rack loud) and hot. What should I do? Runs about 30 deg idle. The room i tested in is about 25 deg. Note: I accidentally touched the thermal compound(only a little) not realizing it was actually attached to the cooler Also, I would like some home remedies (I think i have some arctic cooling thermal compound lying around) So should i buy a custom cooler? Should i buy a fan controller? Or are there other things I can do to limit the noise and cool the CPU down. Thanks!

So it all started a couple of weeks ago when I bought a Logitech G230 headset. I was happily dancing around, and plugging everything in the right port; it was practically heaven. However, after getting on a multiplayer match, almost all of my teammates told me that there was a buzzing sound whenever I spoke, and even more noticeable when I didn't. Naturally, I had to test it myself. So I went to the windows sound options, and enabled the listening option. Unfortunately, it was true. There is a buzzing sound (which I included in a link below). My first thought was to test a different mic and headphone pair (which i knew were ok) to see if it was the headset which was defective. Nope. The experimental headphone/microphone solution also produced a buzzing sound. Next, I though that it was my sound card (I have an ASUS XONAR dg) so i went to a very old pc that I had before, and took a Creative Sound Blaster audigy fx out, and installed it on my current computer. In my opinion the problem got more noticeable, but that thought aside, the problem is still there. I did some research, and I found some possible solutions, even the most bizarre things. I tried disabling AMD HDMI sound option from device manager, since I did not installed the AMD HDMI controller from the driver. STILL THERE. WHY?!? Anyways, then I tried some other stuff that I knew were not going to have any impact on the problem, like "grounding the computer"(No idea, apparently that's a thing with computers, and were you plug them) and tweaking bios settings like PCIE latency timer, among others. So now I'm stuck, and out of ideas. I would like to know if anyone had any problems like this, and if there is a possible solution. I did observed, however, that the buzzing sound changed wherever i moved my mouse (Time 10s-20s in demo.) In addition, connecting the headset to front port minimized the sound, but it is still there. Computer specs are fx 6300, msi 970a g43 (On board sound disabled), msi r9 270x, Asus Xonar dg, and other stuff. The mute switch on the headset was also turned off during testing (muted), and even like this, there is a buzzing sound. So the situation is that i am a parakeet owner, and happily so, but recently my firends have started to complain on skype, that whenever my bird speeeks (parakeets does this alot) it comes out very high pitched / screaming like on thier end, even when he is only speaking very silently + in the other end of my apartment So what i am looking for is a way to somehow reduce my mic pick up range or reduce the high pitch noised produced at my friends end of a skype conversation My current headset is a Steelseries Wireless H and im running on Win7 64x bit Thanks in advance for any and all help
