Hey all, I have a reasonably new computer running a Gigabyte Z270x Aorus K7, Intel 7700k, WD Black NVMe driver, and Nvidia GTX 1080. I have an Asus Xonar DSX sound card from my old build that had to be ripped out (compatibility issues with OS). I want to add that card to my new computer, but I am worried that between the NVMe drive, graphics card, and sound card I will end up running low on PCIe lanes. I just want to make sure I have my graphics card running in at least 8x mode, but will my motherboard be able to detect the WD black runs in 4x and actually be able to get the sound card to work, or will it kick all 3 into 4x and make the graphics card run significantly slower? Am I worried over nothing? Let me know if I'm being an idiot, or if it's a good question (probably isn't). I'd really appreciate any input anyone has. Thanks in advance! Fatt

Hi, I have recently bought nice pair of headphone Z55 Samson. They Sound awesome however I noticed that the headphones sounds better on my PS4\Razer Blade laptop then on the pc. On pc I can hear all the dynamic range but something feel tired in the overall sound I cant really describe it better its like its pitched down 0.001% especially when i listen to music. I never taught in the direction of getting a DAC or AMP or even get a normal sound card and not the realtekHD But now maybe i do need? I also have 27$ spare to spend in BH as store credits. i thought getting a entry level DAC\Amp\Sound card up to 50$ But i have no idea what the best option....... I am leaning toward external other then card just because it will let me use it at the office as well as my home computer. Happy to be enlighten in anyway Thanks Main PC specs. I have on my mother board. I have a gaming GIGABYTE mother with these specs: GPU: GeForce GTX 1070 CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz Memory: 16 GB RAM (15.95 GB RAM usable).

I have audio related questions which I assume would be simple for any audio enthusiasts and experts to answer since I am not fully knowledgeable on audio specifications and levels. I built a gaming PC which I also use for listening to music. I have been ripping my audio CDs to Apple Lossless Audio Compression (ALAC) and listening to those files on iTunes. My computer uses a Creative Sound Blaster ZX internal sound card which has its protective shield attached. My speakers are Logitech Z523 2.1 computer speakers. I have noticed single click or static type sounds occasionally popping up while listening to music and possibly while watching online videos. When I have no audio playing, none of the sounds that I just described occur. The only changes that I made to the sound card's software is setting the speakers to 2.1, the Cinematic setting to Dolby Digital Live, enabling the EQ with the setting to Flat while either watching videos or not listening to music, and adjusting the software volume level from 80% to 100%. All other sound card software settings are at default. My sound card is connected to my speakers using an audio cable with a small headphone plug which is plugged into the sound card on one end and two RCA plugs that connect into the subwoofer on the other end. I usually keep my speaker volume knob between 25% and 33%. I am aware that internal computer components can cause interference with internal sound cards and even if the cards are shielded, they may never fully block the interference. However, my only guess right now is that the problem may be due to setting the sound card volume to 100% and I have set the volume back to its default level of 80%. I will give it time to see if that fixes the problem. Would my problem be most likely due to setting the card volume to 100%? Also, even though I do not listen to audio at full blast and my speaker volume knob is relatively low, is there any chance that setting the sound card volume to 100% has damaged either my sound card or speakers? Lastly, I intend at some point to install a surround sound system such as a Sonos or Bose in my room and hook up my PC to it via optical cable. Would I pick up less interference with optical as opposed to RCA and headphone jack type cables? Thanks.

Afternoon guys, Got an issue which is really starting to grind my gears. I've a machine with a i5, 6gb ddr3, and just recently a zotac gtx 1050. I have the onboard realtek 5.1 config going out to my arcam DAC, and I get loads of interference from the GPU under load. Whining and buzzing when I switch between sheeting like v sync, AA and Anis-filtering. I also get interference whenever any graphical change occurs when on the desktop, mouse movements, scrolling or whatever. Normal stuff. I've recently added a xonar dgx sound card, and I'm still getting the same interference as before, under the same 5.1 config, and it's placed 3 PCI slots away from the 1050 I've tried the spdif on the card, and I'm getting very little interference, namely internal DAC interference, but it only outputs 2 channel over spdif annoyingly. Any ideas to mitigate the interference? I heard ferrite cores could help. Thanks all!

I don't know what is happening but I updated my razer mouse and it made my headphones stop working because it updated a new feature in their software, a surround system... I don't even have a razer headphone (I disabled the surround feature in razer and also deleted the software so if u can tell me how to download it again for my mouse gonna be good too) ... when I connect my headphones to the back of the pc as same as it should be connected it doesn't work but when I plug it to the other side of the computer I can use the headphones but the sound is so bad compared to what it was and the microphone works just in skype and not in any game or teamspeak , discord etc. what should I do? maybe I fucked up the ports on the back of the pc or the sound card or something?(cause I repluged it few times after the razer update destroyed my sound but it didn't fix It) please help me guys please!

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/bdhTYr << My proposed build is available there Hi, I'm thinking about building a PC, and I was wondering - do I need a sound card to play sound out of the PC (via a 3.5 mm headphone jack)? Also, while we are at it, do I need the wired and wireless adapters in order to be able to have ethernet connectivity/WiFi connectivity?

Hi All So I run a small computer business from home and I've been approached by a music teacher to build a PC for him and he wants to use the software of Sibelius and Cubase. This means he wants to both write and record music on his pc and I'm uncertain as to what components to choose. I have looked at the basic system requirements, but I'd like top try and build a PC that will last a few years. If anyone in the community has any idea as to what specs would be good to choose under with a budget of $1100 Thank you for your help

Hi all Should I actually get a sound card for my computer? This question has been bugging me because my father is suggesting I should add one into my system to "enhance" my experience when I am after more of a professional setup (studio monitors, studio-grade mic, audio interface, high-quality headphones, and SupremeFX Hi-Fi). Any suggestions and/or advice is welcome

Hello, recently my Logitech G35's have broken. I want to get the V-MODA Crossfade M-100 as a replacement, but I don't have a dedicated sound card or anything of the sort, just my Maximus Hero VI's SupremeFX. Would that be enough to get good sound out of the M-100? Or would would I really need a DAC / AMP / dedicated sound card for it to sound good?

I've recently got a Razer Tiamat 7.1 (A 7.1 analog surround sound headset with 10 drivers) and the 7.1 was working good as it should but I read on a few forums that it could sound a lot better with a dedicated sound card so I went into Maplin and got a Creative sound blaster Z, I told a staff member i wanted an internal sound card capable of 7.1 for my headset so they recommended a Creative sound blaster Z so i bought one. But when i installed it and plugged it in it is only recognizing 5.1 (so all but the side speakers). I can't find a way to use it with 7.1 and upon googled it, it says its a 5.1 sound card. So I am wondering if it's possible to get 7.1 surround with the sound card or should I get a refund as they told me it would work in 7.1.Forgive me for not knowing a lot about sound and sound cards, this is my first sound card and first surround sound setup.I've attached some photos aswell.http://i.imgur.com/RdQBAQR.png: My computer showing it has found my 7.1 headset in 5.1 modehttp://i.imgur.com/KNL67ab.png: Here it is showing it in 7.1 in pro software but it is still only possible to use in 5.1.http://i.imgur.com/UAR4kAK.png: I've simply googled 7.1 sound card and the sound card I have showed up.http://i.imgur.com/Gk1g60c.png: The sound card I have.ANY replies are appreciated, thanks in advance.

Yesterday I tried to figure out why my mic wasn't picking up any sound and as a last resort kinda thing I tried updating the firmware to version 0.005. Now I can't control the mic's volume via the sound card (can't in windows either, which is normal) and even if I change the headset's volume it doesn't make a sound as it used to. I'm using windows 10. I tried it out with another PC as well that it used to work on and got the same results. Is there any way to downgrade back to 0.003 that I was using and if so, where can I download it?

Yo guys! I'm thinking of getting a DAC together with my new headphones (DT770 80 Ohm). I don't know whether it's an upgrade though. My current sound card is a Sound Blaster X-FI Xtreme PCIe, and i was thinking of replacing it with a FiiO E10K. The thing i like the most about the sound card is the equalizer. I don't know how the bass is, if i couple the DT770's and FiiO E10K, compared to my current setup (HyperX cloud headset + aforementioned sound card). My main focus with this new setup, is to see if the listening experience will improve greatly. I'd really like a quality pair of cans, so i can blast my music without hesitation. Any help is appreciated!

So I'm looking to build a decent gaming PC, and I need to know what gaming motherboards are compatible with the AMD Athlon X4 860K quad-core processor, the AMD Radeon RX 480 graphics Card, and the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy FX Sound Card. Also, would the AMD Athlon X4 860K bottleneck the RX 480? Thx

I am looking to get a sound card for my computer because there is static that comes through my speakers and I have around £40 to spend on one. Any ideas on which one I should get, thanks.

I was looking at reviews of both cards online to see which would be best suited for my needs but I am getting a lot of mixed results. I am looking for a sound card to improve the audio quality for my DT990s as well as improve the mic quality for my ModMic. I am currently using the onboard Realtek ALC1150 which has okay sound and a preatty bad mic input. My ModMic is very quiet at 100% volume and +30db boost and has tons of background noise. What are some of the pros and cons of each card? As I see online they are fairly similar expect that the Xonar has no amp and uses Dolby whereas the Sound Blaster Z has an amp and uses SBX. I already have an O2 amplifier that does an excellent job so I am not interested in any amps on these sound cards, just sound quality, features, driver support, etc. Overall, which card would you recommend since they are roughly the same price.

I just got a pair of AD700X in the mail today and the sound is kinda soft. Its plugged into the back of my PC and it sounds softer than my old pair of Turtle Beach X32s. WTF I dont know whats going on is there something more to it or is it just soft like this forever. Could it be my music app or something, I use Foobar2K for music. My games sound better and I can hear more of the suttle sounds and the guns are beefy but its not as loud as my X32s so yeah..... X 32 = 80$USD AD700X 105$USD R.I.P MUH WALLET.

Hi, I have serious interference issues inside the case (buzzing sound when GPU is under load), so I need a new sound card or DAC, but only external. I have an ESI Juli@ so I want something that has equally good, or better, sound quality. I currently only use speakers but would like to be able to connect a mic and headphones as well, so the ASUS Xonar U7 looks really nice. How is its SQ? I'm not too worried about the headphone amp as I'll rarely be using it. I mostly care about the DAC of the U7. Are there alternatives to the U7, up to $150, with a better DAC?

I'm trying to decide which is best for my situation. I'll be receiving some AKG K7XX cans from the massdrop and likely a Zalman clip on mic. I like the idea of having an all-in-one setup with the Fiio E10k, but something tells me having it all together is going to lose some quality you get with having a full setup with something like a Magni/Modi 2 setup. I'm considering the Asus sound card since I need somewhere to plug in the microphone along with the cans, so having the cables wrap around each other and split at the end to their respective inputs is something I could live with. But, having the sound card means I'd need a something like the SMSL dac. Any inputs or advice?

I currently use realtek HD Audio manager (my audio driver) with 'playback volume' all the way up, decibel boost at the max and my headphone sound all the way up. Although this is instant feedback it is too quiet (hence the maxed volumes) and also creates a large amount of static. I also can't use this method if I use USB or soundcard methods of mic input. Any suggestions? (audacity had a huge delay) Thanks
