Hello! I recently purchased a condenser mic (although a very cheap one at that, the zingyou BM800) and a soundcard (roccat juke). I tried to set up my mic to no avail. My computer detects that the mic is there but no audio comes through whatsoever. The mic is already set as a default device. Any suggestions. OS is windows 10.

Hello all, So I'm making the switch from Windows 10 to Ubuntu 19.04(On release date) after about 10 months of me toying with my VM's and getting really sick of some of the windows issues I have come across. I booted a live demo of 18.04 to check for any issues I have before I make the cut over to the new OS and I'm wondering if anyone can provide any insight on how to and where I can look to troubleshoot my issues. I have a creative labs SoundBlaster -Z internal PCI audio card and get "Alsamixer" up and running. While this may help with some of the sound controls, some of the key features from the provided software is missing. I'm also running into the issue of being able to switch from my headphones to my speakers like I could on Windows. With that the Microphone picks up zero input when on the correct port and I have to plug directly into my MB and it sounds really choppy even when I use the discord audio test. Has anyone else experienced this, have any work around or any other config I should play with? I recently purchased a new keyboard after my previous keyboard the "W" key stopped working (RIP 2013 Razer Blackwidiow ultimate). I went and grabbed the Asus ROG Stirix Flare and it been pretty solid so far. For controlling the RGB and macro's on it uses Asus's software "ASUS Armory" which I can't find any linux support and even reached out to their support team and got nothing in return. The Macro part isn't as big of an issue as I can get a separate program to handle that without issue. My problem is there is not a way to control the RGB and the out of the box RGB setup makes my eyes bleed after about 5 minutes and I have to change it. Is there another suggestion of RGB controls? Thank you all for any help you can give.

I have been thinking about buying a 7.1 home theater with dolby atmos and dts to watch movies, play video games and listen to music from my pc. I found this home theater and it looks great Onkyo THX Certified 7.1-Channel Surround Sound Speaker System Black (HT-S9800THX) seems to meet what I'm looking for and offers me interesting extras like airplay and chomecast. To activate the dolby atmos I have to change the configuration to 5.2.2 ch is fine for me. But well this is my question the home theater I will use it only on the pc and I was thinking how I should connect it to my pc to be able to use everything that the home theater offers me I would like to play the games in surround 5.1, 7.1, 5.2.2 that support dolby atmos, true hd, pro logic 2 etc. and of course also the movies. These are the specifications of my computer in case it helps them to solve my question easier Corsair Vengeance Led Red 16gb Ram 3200mhz AMD Ryzen 7 1700x Processor 960 Evo Samsung M.2 500GB SSD EVGA SuperNova GS 850 Watts Gigabyte AX370 Aorus Gaming K7 GTX 1080 ti aorus the monitor I use in displayport to be able to use gsync and to 144hz the sound of the motherboard Supports Creative® Sound Blaster X-Fi MB5 Double ALC 1220 on the front and 120dB SNR HD Audio with dual headphones with smart amplifier on the back So summarizing my question how I need to connect the home theater to the pc and take advantage of the surround of dolby atmos and dts in games and movies? Do you recommend buying a sound card to get the most out of it? and if so, which supports dolby atmos and 7.1, 5.2.2 channels? I've already searched for some sound cards like this one: Creative Sound BlasterX AE-5 Hi-Resolution PCIe Gaming Sound Card but I do not know if support it. what I mentioned what i should do ??? Excuse my English and extend the question in advance thank you very much.

I have an OPPO F5 Youth with Android 7.1.1 and with OTG Support I tried different USB Sound Card and it works perfectly but quality of audio is what i don't like but i have extra usb sound card here where it supports SPDIF out. I want to use to for my phone but the problem is it apparently using SPDIF out instead of the front channel out. This sound card uses cmedia cm6206 chip. So my motherboard's onboard audio is causing some issues; I've fully troubleshot the issue and as best I can tell, that's the problem. That in mind, I want the best value sound card I can get which uses PCIe. They'll be driving a pair of Sennheiser 559s. I play CSGO, so the quality of positional audio is a priority. What do you suggest?

So I recently bought the HyperX Cloud alpha for gaming with positional audio. It worked like a charm on my MacBook Pro from 2015 but when I plug the Jack into my PC, I only get stereo sound. I checked everything but somehow it does not work right. The Internet says that an 1,5 aux cannot output surround but why does it work on my Mac then? I’m so confused and do not really know much about audio. Should I buy one of those Converters to usb or will that change nothing? Help!

For years now, I've used the old Panasoniq SA-DT100 (amp only) as my audio setup (the only part I didn't change when updating systems...). For me, the sound is great. But... it's only stereo (this setup doesn't allow 5.1 from another source than the accompanying CD / DVD player which I don't use). Since my USB soundcard, Xonar U7, has died after 3 years, I am looking for a new card. I was thinking about the Sound Blaster ZX (oldy), or maybe the new Sound Blaster AE-7 (32 bit / 384 kHz and DSD64 - quality mainly for my headphone). Internal card again for old time sakes. And, while updating this, I want to create a 5.1 setting using the speakers from the Panasoniq - I'm affraid throwing a few 100 bucks at 'computer speakers' will not provide the same quality as the speakers I'm using right now. In another topic (from 2016) I saw someone trying to create something similar, a 5.1 setup, using the Panasoniq set, but this didn't work out. So I do have a few questions: 1) I see a lot of people in favor of using a digital signal from the computer to an AMP like a S/PDIF, but... this one overrides the sound chips in the Sound Blaster. Is this still a better option than using 3 analogue cables (front, center, sub)? And if so, why bother buying a more expensive sound card (and not just a cheap(er) card with only S/PDIF)? 2) Can anyone recommend an amp which can be used for this purpose --> setting up a 5.1 system using the speakers from the Panasoniq SA-DT100 using three analogue cables from the Sound Blaster, or S/PDIF if this one is a better choice? These SA-DT100 speakers do have a special connector for the Amp output; I most likely have to strip these so there will be no jack which can be used to connect the speakers to the Amp, only the splitted wires. 3) Most likely I have to take into account the output from the Amp and the maximum Watt the speakers can cope with (sorry, I'm still a n00b on this one...) - 27 Watt center, 28 Watt front, 35 Watt rear amd 40 Watt subwoofer? Thank you for your answer in advance!

Hello, first post here! The other day my on board audio was only output static and pops through my headphones. I tried to get it to work through software to no avail. Today I bought an old Mad Dog Multimedia 4.1 DSP sound card to try and fix my issues. Now my problem is that the drivers with the included CD wont allow me to install them (as you can see in one of the images the "Install" button is greyed out). I just need to get some advice on what I should try next. I tried looking up drivers online but I am unsure of what websites to trust for this sort of thing. Any advice is much appreciated, just trying to get back to editing videos. Hello, can someone recommend an external or if not at least a good internal soundcard? my msi b450 gaming pro carbon ac has a supposidly good sound card integrated but i cant use the default realtec software to configure my 5.1 surround sound. They force me to use nahimic software what dont let you choose a fake surround sound option(next sentence). Important to me is that i can listen to everything lets say my firefox browser playing music from youtube and the sound is played in a 5channel stereo setup if its not a native 5.1 sound stream. All those creative asus and other soundcards have some 1 star reviews on amazon that are stopping me from buying one. Please can anyone help me?

Hello people, ok so my problem is that initially my headphones and mic (mine is decent HP H120 headset) used to work good and then all of a sudden the headphones started producing buzzing noise/ white noise/ electric interference and ultimately the static was so much that I gave up on the onboard audio and decided to buy a cheapo usb sound card, which was working fine 7-10 days until today when strangely headphones were fine but the mic is problematic (no bars rising on recording device tab or any other software e.g. - Google voice search, discord in any game) and I think the levels are too low for any program to detect and for some reason I think that it's more of a software problem than a hardware problem although I can just buy another sound card, any suggestions to fix this problem would be appreciated. Thank You.

Hello everyone, I am seeking help as the subwoofer port on my Sound Blaster Z sound card stopped working. A few days back I purchased a new subwoofer, SVS SB-1000. Previously I had some small Genius sub from 2.1 set. I have the sub paired with bookshelf speakers. It all connects to the sound card through the respective ports, so sub line out, front speakers line out and I also have my headphones connected via headphone jack. All these ports are 3.5mm jacks (I connected the jack to the SVS sub with RCA adaptor) and the all still work besides the subwoofer one. What probably went wrong: Everything played nicely for like two days. Until I tried hotswapping the two subs to have a feel for the immeadiate change in sound. Of course I wasn't literally hot swapping them. I turned them both off, turned the song off, swapped them, turned on the swapped sub and resumed music. I did this like three times and then suddenly no sound from the sub. This happened when I "hot swapped" from the old one to the new one. What I tried (to no avail): - looking if all settings are right and if all connectors are in the right holes - trying if the old sub still plays (it doesn't) - changing the 3.5mm jack cable to a different one - trying different power socket in the house (note that the power indicators are glowing on both subs) - restarting the computer - starting the computer without the sound card and then back with it What I want to try but don't know how or fear I might mess things up even more: - reinstalling the sound card driver - connecting the speakers to the sub port and the sub to the speakers port and see if the sub blows the speaker port as well (lol) - try to meassure the voltage in the ports with multimeter (I bought it today, never used one before) Interesting note to add: When I turn the pc off before the sub there is this loud and short bass POP. I think this is normal but the interesting part is that both subs STILL do this, even when the sub port is supposedly broken. So... yeah. I would be glad if someone knew how to help. Thank you.

Recently I posted that I was looking for a good internal sound card. After reading the feedback, I concluded that internal sound cards are old-tech and external is the way to go. So, I have reached a new dilemma. I was looking at upgrading from my current computer speakers (Creative Labs - Inspire 7.1 Surround Sound Speaker System (8-Piece)) to more of a home theater experience. Right now I have my eye on the Klipsch 600m bookshelf speaker pair. They have a 100W RMS, 400W peak. The creative labs external X7 DAC (Limited Edition) I was looking at only outputs about 50W per channel, so that's out. What I have found is that a lot of people hookup A/V receivers to their computers. If this is the next best method, I do not plan on using the A/V receiver for anything else besides audio. Yes, I plan on stocking up on more Klipsch speakers but I would start here. The A/V receiver I am looking at is... - Onkyo TX-RZ820 THX-Certified 7.2-Channel 4K Network A/V Receiver So, my first question is, does this method work? My initial thoughts are once I rebuild my PC, I was going to use the S/PDIF out and into the receiver for audio signal. I am looking to buy the GIGABYTE AORUS Extreme (https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813145158) when I do my rebuild (expected CPU: Ryzen 9 3950X, for those who are interested). Should I use the S/PDIF coming off that motherboard or should I invest in an EVGA Nu Pro and use that for signal? Also, how would tuning work? Would the software for the EVGA interfere with the manual tuning built into the receiver itself? Will it be a mixture of the two? Intentions: - I am trying to build a killer 7.1-11.2 channel surround sound system for my PC because I listen to a lot of music, watch a lot of movies and use multiple streaming platforms (mainly Prime and Netflix). However, as a hobby I am a podcaster and content creator so I want quality audio when working on this as well. Does anyone have any other suggestions or methods for an amazing, albeit overkill, audio experience. Computer speaker kits in stores and online are junky cheap rip offs. I'm trying to go hard and go home, lol.

Hi everyone! I'm trying to figure out what to buy for my PC. I'm torn on getting a Sennheiser G4ME One headset or getting a headphone with a detachable 3,5mm jack cable, so I can use a V-Moda BoomPro (https://www.v-moda.com/us/en/products/boompro-microphone) with it to avoid further cable clutter. I've tried ModMic 5 and I've only had bad experiences with it. I want a open back headphone and I can use around 100-200 USD (might push it abit further if needed). For example, I was thinking of Sennheiser HD559 + the V-Moda, which I can get for the same price as a G4me One headset. I'm also thinking of getting a external sound card which supports both headphone and microphone connections, but I'm abit unsure on what to buy. Suggestions are appreciated. Budget: 300-400 USD for both open back headphone with a detachable 3,5mm jack cable and a external sound card or DAC/AMP combo. Source/Amp: ASUS Xonar U3 atm, looking to buy a different external sound card or DAC/AMP combo which has both headphone and microphone connections. Usage: At home on my computer (desktop), mostly listening to metal/electronic music, movies and gaming. Tonal balance: I like bass and I don't like very sharp trebles, it is very fatiguing for me. Previous gear experience: None at all, only gaming headsets if those count (Steelseries Siberia v1, Sennheiser GSP300 to name a few). Thanks in advance for any replies!

Hi I want to know about this from people who are using G5. Could you say that is worth it to change from onboard to this? Is it like really worth it? I'm thinking about it greatly and I can't conclude an answer for myself. I use now ROG SupremeFX from my motherboard Asus Z370-F with HyperX Cloud's but maybe in the future I would change them to something like Audio-Technica ATH-PDG1. What can you say? To buy, or not to buy?

For a few years now, I've been doing essentially freelance stage audio work my local theatre and church. The Razer Kraken 7.1 chroma I have at home is getting somewhat worn from age and whatnot, and I'm thinking about replacing it with the Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO that I've been using at the theatre and church so I can do some practice at home, have the full extent of fun with my voice acting & editing hobbies, and naturally play games. My question is would an 880 or 990 be more suited for my needs (seeing as they're all ~£100 on Amazon, it's a worthy question), and what extra equipment would I be needing to get them to work with a home pc without splashing too much cash? Thanks for any replies.

Hello, I've had a modmic for a while and it's always had low volume and a buzzing noise in the background, so today I went out and bought a Xonar sound card. It works great for my headphones, I think it's improved the sound quality from my previous onboard audio and there is no background noise. Oddly, the mic issue is still persisting. Here's a sample of the sound: https://vocaroo.com/i/s0xu2LZaVF3z . This is with the level slider all the way to 100 because otherwise my voice is too quiet. Microphone boost is disabled, and the mic's cable is plugged in directly to the sound card. I've tried removing any sources of interference by plugging my computer's power cable directly into the wall, and ran my monitor's power cable into a power strip with nothing attached, but I doubt the monitor is the source of my problems. Does anyone have any idea of what my problem is and how to fix it? Any and all advice would be appreciated.

Hello, I just got my self an older but still pricy Infinity Oreus Elan Surround Sound set to use while gaming or watching a film on my PC. I also bought a Harman Kardon AVR 330 with it, thats the audio receiver (see pictures). My question was, do I have to get a Sound Card in my PC? The set itself was really expansive, and if a $60 sound card can make the experience way better, ill do that. My motherboard is a MSI Tomahawk Z170A. The point is I can also use a 3.5mm jack, but I don't know if that would give me a good experience. Thanks!

Hello, So I want to run a 3.5mm cord from an Amazon echo dot to my PC. My idea is to be able to voice command the dot and then be able to hear Alexa's response or music played from the dot through my speakers (headphones, etc.) Thing is, if I plug this into the blue 3.5mm jack of my onboard audio, where will the sound output? I use Voicemeeter Banana with some virtual cables to separate audio for streaming purposes (separate audio levels for me vs. broadcast, and outputting audio through my mic on discord etc.) But before I go buying an echo dot, I'd like to know just where this input will go in my PC. If possible I'd like to get it in on one of my virtual cables. Any help greatly appreciated!

Hello everyone. Since I bought this audio setup I'm facing this very annoying noise coming from my monitor speakers. I have 2 KRK Rokit 5 speakers, AT-M50X headphones, and all these are connected in a Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 Gen2 sound card. It seems to be a PROCESSING noise. It gets worse when I'm rendering a song or a video. I can hear it getting more "intense" as the rendering bar "moves" or does small jumps. It gets CRAZY when I run a game. Moving the mouse creates noise, especially if I set the polling rate at 500 or 1000Hz (Razer Deathadder Elite). Setting it to 125 makes the mouse noise inaudible, thankfully. Things I have observed: - The noise starts as soon as I enter Windows (not in BIOS) - The noise doesn't appear when recording (either from a mic, guitar, or virtual instrument) - There's absolutely NO NOISE coming from the headphones, which are connected to the same sound card unit. - The noise is audible at the same level even if the volume is completely muted. Things I tried: - I have connected it on 3 different laptop (one Macbook Pro, one old Acer, and a newer Dell one), and NONE had any noise whatsoever. Therefore, thefore there's no problem with the speakers or the audio interface. - I tried different wall plugs for the speakers, evenf or a speaker to be alone in one wall plug by itself. Stil the same noise, same intensity. - I have done "tested" 3 different BIOS updates and many different drivers. No luck. I have uploaded an audio sample with my phone, as I'm pressing to run Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I've read somewhere it could be a motherboard or a PSU issue, but I haven't confirmed it yet, since I'd need to be doing multiple tests with multiple PSU and motherboard combinations, and I don't have any to test. Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus Z370 Ultra Gaming PSU: Corsair RM750X (supposed to be S-tier) Please send help. Thank you for your time! Noise-Shadow_of_the_Tomb_Raider.aac

So I just bought myself a couple new headphones and an ASUS Strix Raid Pro sound card. Upon attaching the sound card into the PCI-E slot and connecting a 6 pin peripheral connector from my power supply to my sound card, it simply won't turn on when pressing the power button. Lights on mobo are on, and PC starts working as intended randomly after taking out the sound card. Might have connected it wrong, first time connecting a sound card to my computer. Just fyi my specs are: CPU: Ryzen 5 1600x GPU: Gainward GTX1070 MOBO: Asus ROG STRIX B350-F PSU: EVGA BQ 650W Hybrid Modular 80+

Hi everyone, I’m bit of confused. The thing is, i have a sound card. It is Creative sound blaster X-fi titanium. Model: SB0880 This is a card before 2010. Its signal to noise ratio is 109 dB. It can Convert digital signal to analog at 192 KHz when stereo is used. On the other hand my mobo is 2017’s Msi Tomahawk B350. But its audio chipset is Realtek ALC892 which is not latest. May be its from 2014. Its noise ratio is 96 dB. Now my question is which is better? My mobo’s intregated audio or the Sound card? Right now I don’t have any 5.1 or 7.1 system to compare. And also, I’m planing to buy a surround 7.1 headphone. Which will give me better experience. Dedicated sound card Or mobo’s sound chipset?? please help me out. Give me some ideas.
