I had the awesome S20FE until water got inside it. Bullshit water resistance rating. Currently I managed to afford just the new A54. Its ok till it comes to the camera, compared to the S20FE it is shit. I was wondering if it is possible to swap the physical camera from the S20FE to the A54? I expect the biggest issue is going to be with the software.

Summary Samsung has filed a HUGE US ITC Patent complaint towards chinese companies that are making Aftermarket OLED screens for smartphones, Like LG and BOE, who coincidentally is making screens for Apple. If they succeed this would stop Apple and any other manufacturer of aftermarket OLED screens from making them at all. This is clearly a warning shot to Apple for getting screens from a new supplier. The main issue Samsung is making that any screen that is made that uses the same pixel layout as their patent is in violation of their patent and therefore the US ITC could make it so that anyone that uses those screens from aftermarket suppliers would be unable to have them imported into the US. Louis Rossmann has made a few videos, and a gofundme was started to help pay for the costs to challenge the complaint but it could cost upwards of $10 million. Quotes My thoughts This is clearly concerning news and can actually be terrible news for those of us that want costs of repairing after warranty smartphones. This is clearly a warning shot to Apple without actually going after Apple who could actually afford challenging the lawsuit. The right to repair industry is worried that if Samsung has their way they would raise prices so high that no one would use it therefore making their claim even more sidious because then they literally have a monopoly on the screen industry all because of pixel patterns. Received a YouTube ad for the following device: The advertisement mentions that a phone charger can combate planned obsolescence by using AI to not only providing modern fast charging but also improve performance by 3 times. The ad sent me to an actual Russian site in English with the following title in the browser: Заряжай все устройства одновременно и сверхбыстро с 0% до 100% за 15 минут For safety concerns I omitted the URL.

I travel alot and my laptop makes my photography gear too heavy to carry for extended periods of time. My shoulders start hurting. I am trying to find a 8 inch tablet with no gps capabilities that can transfer my camera raw files to an external hard drive. A lot of smartphone's usb charging ports only charge the phone and are not capable of transferring files. I am concerned that the small tablets usb port will not function to transfer files from a SD card to a USB hard drive. I am looking for the cheapest solution. WIFI is fine.

So i currently have a samsung a5 2017(its old and slow, but has served me well) and I think I'm due an upgrade. Id rather not switch to iphone Some things that i value more are 1)a good camera (compared to my current phone most cameras nowadays should be fine) 2)i would like it to be reliable and use it for the next couple of years if not half a decade. the processor and gpu don't need to be top of the line since at most I'm gonna play LOL: wild rift and TFT if you have and suggestions or questions feel free to comment them, all help will be appreciated.

I have a Redmi 10x 5g on TracFone through the byop program. It's worked beautifully since I got it except for the fact that for some reason the voicemail litterally won't stay recorded. Like almost every time I have to call to check a message I'm greeted with the setup message and it makes me re-record my greeting and password every time. Normally I'd go to Xiaomi or TracFone about something like this first and then come here but I can't figure out if this is a problem related to the phone or the carrier. If anyone has had this problem and fixed it please let me know, it's annoying as hec.

Well guys, the title pretty much states it all on this 1, but still, I would love to hear your thoughts/advice/opinions/experiences etc on this. So, like it says above, I have been thinking of using a tablet to replace a smartphone since i've heard that it IS possible. But I am also rather curious/interested to know if there are any cons or caveats to using a tablet as a phone... If anyone is wondering why I had such a rather bizarre or crazy idea with this, it's mainly because I myself am not a particularly big fan of using phones or tablets with smaller or narrower screens; In fact, I tend to prefer screens that are just wider & easier to use. [I'm sure some of you out there might understand my preference on this.] I should also mention that I am well aware that if I WERE to go this route, it would probably be best to aim for a device that supports cellular activity as well as haveing WiFi capability built-in. Anyway, I guess that pretty much sums it up. Do remember of course, that this post here is intended to be a general discussion on this topic. Hoping to here back from you on this since I'm looking for some insight/advice! Like always, if you happen to have any questions for me or just need more details, please be sure to ask & I'll get back with you! Thanks in advance to any helpful people out there!

Summary Best buy was selling Z Fold 3 for $1,400 for several weeks. Now going for $1,000... with activation (not new line just activation). My thoughts Is this an obvious recommendation at this price? Why are they doing this, and why would people still stay away? Sadly I'm starting to outgrow my Redmi note 7 (space wise) so once again I'm turning to LTT forum for some recommendations. I'm mainly looking for a phone under or slightly above $200 that can preform better than my current phone and has a slightly better camera (along with more than 64 gb storage). It would also be nice to find one with 5G but I'm very aware that's unlikely at this price point for now. I've thought about maybe the Redmi note 10 but I'm really on the fence about it so it'd be nice to have some other options with experience behind them.

Hello everyone. I wanted to hear your experiences and opinions on this. Somehow I seem to have really bad experiences with phones with USB-C ports. My first phone with one was a Samsung S9. Port had first signs of breaking after about 2.2years. It started showing the "water in port"-warning and stopped to fastcharge. Another 1-2 months later I was not able to charge it at all. So I bought a Samsung A50. That one had the same issues of not being able to fastcharge after only 8 months, so I bought a Xiaomi Note 9 only 3 days before the A50 was not able to charge anymore and I sent it to a repairshop (sadly they wouldn't repair it under warranty, because it had a 1mm crack at the top of the screen). Now the Xiaomi shows the first signs of not charging all the time (screen lights up every 10 seconds indicating a newly started charging process) after I only bought it in August 2020, so it has about 180 plugin cycles. The port is really wobbly already (4-5° up and down movement). There is no dust in there, since the rubber case has a plug. Somehow I don't know what I do wrong. Since I had such bad experiences with the two Samsungs phones I swore I would eliminate my wrongdoing and only charge the Xiaomi while it lay still on my nightstand, but it still is starting to bother me. All my previouse phone with Mircro USB ports never had such issues, even if I saved them from a fall by pulling at the cable, playing on the phone while it charged, bending the cables etc. The ports held 3-5 years and where thight to plug in the first and last day of using them. Now the new and sooo good USB-C fells like a worn out buthole of a 90 year old grandma. I am really just pissed about it, because I have better things to do than switching between phones because my new 8 month old needs to go into the repairshop again.

Summary tl:dw After swapping genuine Samsung parts between 2 Galaxy A51s the fingerprint sensor fails to read and doesn't allow you to enroll new fingerprints while displaying a message about how the sensor 'needs calibration' (there is no way for someone outside of a Samsung service center to calibrate it themselves afaik.) This only started happening after a security patch update (September) meaning it's most likely either a bug or some form of software limitation rather than a hardware incompatibility. After downgrading one of the phones with a replacement screen to an earlier security patch it worked perfectly fine. Quotes My thoughts I think this is ridiculous and really hope this is just a bug and not an intended thing. Samsung has been slowly copying Apple's bad decisions and if this is another one they decided to copy it should be met with backlash. There is absolutely no reason why genuine parts pulled from a phone shouldn't work in a different phone of the same model. Especially something like a display which is probably one of the most common parts to break on a smartphone. This is one of Samsung's more budget A series devices but it's still unknown if this is an intended thing or if it will be a thing on the S series. Hugh Jeffreys says in the comments he ordered some S21s so there will probably be a similar video of him swapping parts between them. Sources https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGLQ9ZRntZo This is my first time posting a news topic so if this is incorrect in some way, sorry.

Hello everyone, I saw MKBHD's review on a sony phone, which was also titled "Why Don't People Buy Sony Smartphones?" I clicked that because I legit didn't know that Sony still made smartphones, and watching the video and reading some comments, I see that many people don't know that they still exist. The phone seems pretty nice, has a freakin 4K display, great camera, all the good flagship stuff. So well I wondered why I have never seen a sony phone reviewed by LTT or a couple of other channels that I follow.. Well let's give sony some free marketing, and bring more ppl's attention to sony smartphones. PS - I am not from Sony XD. I was just surprised that sony phones are still a thing, and they looking kinda good, and it'll give more competition to the phone giants too if it works out, better and cheaper products for all.

Preface: I am by no means against a metal frame. I think it greatly improves rigidity but I also don't understand why wouldn't want to Here are some reasons why why they are superior: They are lighter. Your phone will have less momentum when you drop it and will be easier to hold up for extended periods of time It is cheaper. This doesn't just mean it is cheaper to produce & buy but also easier and significantly cheaper to fix. It is harder to break. When you drop a plastic phone it scratches instead of shattering (seeing as apparently glass is the favored alternative by the complainers™) Imo scratches on plastic are a lot less visible than on glass and in some cases can even be buffed out with relatively minimal effort. That isn't possible with glass Glass is a fingerprint magnet. It looks cool new and on renders but in practice it always looks dirty. Just look at your phone's screen right now! Plastic exerpts that issue a lot less Plastic can do a lot more elastic deformation as opposed to glass, which will crack a lot sooner. Some neutral points: You can make plastic just as colorful as glass. You area a bit more flexible with surface finishes since glass wil mostly have some sort of remaining shine. On the other hand plastic shine isn't built to last very long. Most people use a case that covers the back cover anyway, so why do they even care?? Some more negative thoughts of mine Paint on plastic will inevitably chip and look like garbage. Reference old samsung phones with silver painted plastic trim. That was the definition of a horrible idea. It scratches a lot more easily because it is a softer material. People say it feels a lot less premium. That might be because it is lighter or because it is less heat conductive and will feel warmer to the touch. I personally think this is idiotic. Just look at where the weighty feel of powersupplies pushed the industry: Some manufacturers putting literal DEAD weight into cheap PSUs to make them 'feel' more premium. Feel free to add to or oppose my points. I would love to hear if I was fundamentally wrong about any of these or if I forgot to add any major dis-/advantages. PS: Yes, this was inspired by people whining about the plastic below the Short Circuit of the Pixel 4a.

I Know that around here we talk mostly about pc realted tech but I thought someone could give me a hand First and foremost, I from Argentina which means prices don't follow any logical rule. I really but really like OnePlus. For the past year always knew that if I had to buy a phone I would go with the 7pro. When the 8pro came out, I fall in love, until I heard the price. The fact it's that if I wanna buy a OnePlus phone, it need to be imported from other country. My main option is Amazon Europe, since things usually get here with no much trouble, except for the 30% tax (big off). Recently have been thinking that the 7pro would still be a great phone but will end up costing 800 dollars and don't think it's fair. On the other hand, Samsung phones prices are somewhat cheap, I'm talking 700 for the S20 and 790ish for the S20 plus. Up to here seems as a no brainer, go with Samsung, after all they are good phones, no OnePlus, but good phones. Here's were things start to get tricky, Samsung only sells exynos here. Heard and read not very good things of those. I've been rocking a $250 Moto G4 for the past 4 years, which dies whenever the battery goes under 30%, and my love and enthusiasm for technology has lead me wanting get a good phone for the first time in my life. To sum up, don't know if I have any other option in this situation, any solution/suggestion is highly welcomed. Until then I'll go and cry in my room trying to figure out a smart way so as to get inside a suitcase and go live somewhere else.

Before the year of 2017, Samsung had been demonstrating to consumers what could be an edge-to-edge display, and delivering so to a given extent to those who chose their devices. Then, in 2017 Apple finally introduced the iPhone X, which brought an utter change from the iconic, traditional iPhone design that had only faced small tweaks throughout the years dating from its original launch. Then in the past years... bezel-less phones have had a flood into the market, and present wherever you may look. When Apple introduced the iPhone X, an incredibly large number of people complained about the so popular notch, and to this day vigorously wish that it was not present... Such response makes me wonder about something... once Apple ceases to make use of the notch, as underneath the display camera technologies are being developed, and evolving as You read... what sort of era in the smartphone design are we going to be living in, I wonder. If you position the new iPhones side by side with other bezel-less phones... due to its notch, you are able to immediately tell that you are looking at an iPhone and not some other random smartphone... all because of the so despised notch... Once Apple finally manages to remove it, based on the past perspective we can assume that the pattern will repeat itself; other phone manufacturers will have already done so entirely. And then, everyone will be carrying around a squared - or rounded, smartphone that is only distinguishable if you look at the back of the device... which is mostly covered by the user's hands... I believe that Apple perpetuated the iconic-design of the iPhone, and only chose to stop it because of the need to do so by the pressure being imposed against others with their alluring concept of a bezel-less device, rather than actually wishing to do so. I am not sure how do You feel about this upcoming reality, but I feel highly uncomfortable. The traditional, iconic-design is, to my eyes, the most elegant, representative, and beautiful iPhone design that there is. It is a very unpopular opinion, however it is a fact that... that design tells us a story, while the ''bezel-less'' only tells us a need to compete, and catch up with a personality-less smartphone era.

I'm looking to get a new android smartphone before college starts and I think this is about the max amount of money my parents are willing to pay. I've been leaning towards the Galaxy S9+ or A70 (I have pretty large hands) but I am open to any other suggestions, what should I ask for?

so im planning to buy a phone at a tight budget of $100 from a local shop. I have no way of importing as taxes are insane and newer phones at my budget are pretty useless. If these galaxy devices are no gud what other phones do u suggest that i check out in the used market.
