Hey how do you guys usually keep color coordination on the PSU end when sleeving cables like the 8pin CPU and 24 pins. I'm working on my AX760 and noticed some pins are not one to one with each so the sleeving on the PSU end will be all mixed and not match the connector end. Is it ok to repin a cable as long as it doesn't change the ATX standard connections?

I would like to order some custom sleeved extensions for my power supply and send my case in for airbrushing. If anyone knows someone who can do either of these please post their email, website, or other form of contact information. I will be using a Corsair AX860i power supply and the Cooler Master Storm Stryker case for my build. Any references would be helpful. Thank You in advance!!!

As of right this minute I just removed my first PCIE pin from my ax1200i psu for a new build that I planning on completing this weekend. I will be sleeving the 24 pin and cpu pin cables with 550 paracord really want to finish all the cables tonight. My question is whether the cables need to go into the same connector slot that they came out of? When you look at the face of a pcie connector there are filled and empty slots in the connector. I will be putting the pins in the same "filled" spots but my question is regarding the actual cables and whether they need to be in exact same spot as stock. As in can a filled space in the connector can be filled with any of the other cables I'm sorry if my question is hard to understand but it's difficult wording it correctly.

Painting Forewarning: I'm aware this is quite a large post so I've tried to make the layout as easy to read and concise as possible (it's also my first ever post/thread so go easy on me ) Okay so I've been wanting to colour match my PC and accessories now for a while, luckily a few of the items are already colour matched and look amazing but there is quite a few bits that look very out of place. A few things that don't really need it may also get a make over . The overall theme that I'm going for is black with blue accents. I'm planning on using Plasti Dip Blaze Blue as the colour difference between the LED light seems negligible (standard blue is also an option). Standard Black for the bits that require it. Items that are already in line with the theme include; Case: Thermaltake A31, has blue accents and also has a 120mm blue LED exhaust fan. Keyboard: Ducky DK9008 Shine 3 (Cherry Red MX Switches), blue LED. Bits that definitely need work; Is black and yellow themed which looks extremely ugly in contrast to everything else. This is probably one of the hardest items to paint IMO as both of the bits I'm looking at colour matching is extremely small and detailed. The mouse wheel (I guess I'll have to take the mout and the Zowie logo (although I may just paint the whole surface black). I may also do the bottom depending on how thick Plasti Dip goes on (its feet are fairly thin and I don't want to compromise the integrity of the smooth feeling, but damn its ugly) Motherboard: Asus Z87M-Plus Is also black and yellow themed (ughh how did I somehow manage pick this colour theme twice....). Wanting to get rid of all the yellow parts so the north/south bridges, SATA slots x6. One of the main problems I see is my wanting to paint the yellow RAM slots (luckily two of the four are already black) as well as the 3 yellow PCI-E slots, I'm not sure if these cant actually be painted but I really, really, really.....want to get rid of the yellow. I'm also considering doing the whole IO shield but I'm still tossing this up. RAM: 16GB G.Skill Trident-X 1600Mhz (8GBx2) These were originally the reason why I wanted to get painting, the gaudy red mixed with the yellow clashed a lot against the blue. I know the fins should be fairly easy to do. I'm just not sure what I'm going to do about the sticker along the side of the sticks, I may end up just removing it and painting it black (i f its not already underneath) or possibly do both sticks entirely blue. Not so important bits; Fairly happy with how this looks (partly because its upside down orientation means you cant see much of it anyway) but considering taking the metal shroud that encases the 3 fans off and painting blue. Monitor #2: DELL SE197FP Wanting to get the bezel to be the same matte black finish the the monitor on the right (BenQ XL2411Z) and obviously the stand. I'm not sure if it'll be possible to do the menu, positive/negative and power button but that doesn't bother me so much. The only worry I have is getting around the dell logo (I don't necessarily want to compromise that). I'm not really sure how to tape off something that small for example inside the 'D' and the 'E'. Sleeving/Cable Management My PSU (Corsair GS600) is obviously non-modular so is sleeving still an option? I would want to eventually sleeve all the cables from the PSU blue aswell as the few SATA cables I have (can SATA cables be sleeved?). Opinions on what brand (ease of use/quality) etc would be welcome. Also I had to get a plain white/semi see-through molex adapter because the 8 pin connecter to the GPU couldn't reach as is, so I guess I'll need to get a custom one either blue or black to match the rest (most probably black). My cable management seems fairly tangled and messy, I had to try and get every last little centimeter out of the cables just to get things connected. As you can see with the 8 pin CPU cable, I had to route it under the gap between the motherboard and GPU because I had no chance getting it up and around the back and then the impossible angle to actually get it in the socket). Do I need to get cable extensions or something? Here's a picture of the internal's: Liquid Cooling I'm hoping to one day very soon, get a Corsair Hydro H105 and replace the two SP120L's for two SP120 Blue LED's to help complete the look as well as adding four AF120 Quiet Edition Blue LED's, replacing the existing case's stock exhast and intake fans and supplementing another intake at the front and another exhaust at the bottom. Corsair Hydro H105: SP120 Blue LED's: AF120 Quiet Edition Blue LED's: My one question regarding the H105 is I have no idea on the power draw of the cooler, can my Corsair GS600 take that along with the rest of my system? System Specs: CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K @ 3.40Ghz GPU: NVIDIA Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 OC Edition 2GB Sound Card: ASUS Xonar Essence STX RAM: 16GB G.Skill Trident-X 1600Mhz (8GBx2) Monitors: BenQ XL2411Z & DELL SE197FP Motherboard: Asus Z87M-Plus HDD's: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB & 2TB Seagate Barracuda Keyboard: Ducky DK9008 Shine 3 (Cherry Red MX Switch) Blue LED Headphones: ATH-AD700X Open Air with ZM-MIC 1 Mouse: Zowie FK And that's about it! Phew that took me an hour or so to write up Thanks for taking the time to read (if you did, totally waiting for tldr; haha) Cheers, BabieZ!

Title kind of speaks for itself. First, I'm curious if someone can confirm that. Second, what other companies offer high quality custom sleeving? Not looking for the typical corsair or bitfenix cables, but ones where you can customize exactly what you want. Appreciate the input!

Currently doing a build for my sister in a white Bitfenix Prodigy and wanting to use the leftover white corsair sleeved cables in a Silverstone 600W PSU is it possible to switch the connectors on the wires in order for them to fit and have them work? Has anyone done it before? Otherwise I have a short cable kit and the right tools, but sourcing sleeving in NZ at the moment is impossible, no-one is selling it, and the Lutro store in down due to them moving building. Also could I buy a 24 pin ATX Sleeved Extension and mod it to plug straight into the PSU? It would be just like a short cable kit. Anyone with experience in experimenting with this? Regards, Tim

Hey guys! Im kinda new to this forum, although ive been watching a lot of different stuff on here and there were tonns of intresting things to find Great forum! So well, being not too long here is a question - Im about to build a new system in a few days, and want to give it a good look, since im going to buy corsair 350d window.Ive got it all assembled in my head besides one crapy problem - Sleeved cables re impossible to find here in Russia. So Ive found some option from NL.I have friend living there,so he can send it to me. - http://www.alternate.nl/Corsair/Sleeved-DC-Cable-Kit-Type-3-(Gen-2)-CP-8920045-Adapter/html/product/1123418?tk=7&lk=9836 Its said down there that those cables re compitable with some Corsair PSU'S,but I was planning to get Seasonic fanless. Is this just a marketing trick and those cables will fit on my psu,or it wont work? Thanks in advance guys!

Looking at getting new PSU in the coming months as this one i think is about to give in. Was on holiday so missed the memo about the whole unbranded/crap PSU thing. Looking for 700W to 1000W of power, 2 EPS connectors cos my board can support it, many PCI-E connectors, and individually sleeved cables. Any brand but not hugely expensive. Keep budget under £150 but if must go higher then i guess i will have to. Majority of my buying is on eBay, but unless anybody knows who gives you a haribo packet when you buy something i that'll be great. I want the power so that when my GTX 660s go i can continue the dual GPU adventure with two other cards. Current one is a Powercool PC-750AUBA-B +3.3V @0.3-24A +5V @0.3-24A peak output : 199.2W MAX +12V1 @1.0-16A +12V2 @1.0-18A -12V @0.3A +5Vsb @2.5A There you go. Damn thing makes a racket during boot. Grinding and vibrating. might as well get a new one. woo 1,000 posts!

Any recommendations? I'm personally looking for either red or black ones. Thanks guys

I've been asked how I did my sleeving and what guides, methods etc I used for it, both on the forums, pictures of my build, facebook, my buildlog etc. I know there are plenty of guides to normal sleeving using heatshrink, but not that many for heatshrinkless, especially with paracord. The ones that are around often use methods that require some pretty expensive or hard to find tools that I think are just not necessary and a waste of time and money. Because of the lack of guides, and the amount I have been asked, I am considering making a guide on the method that I use for all of my cables. So, would you like me to make a guide for it? (The guide will use text and pictures. I'll probably take pictures of a lot of things so you get a visual representation of what I mean)

Hey feloow LinusTech forumers! Today I got a new power supply and I'm planning to sleeve it. However due to my limited research, I didn't look into if the wires were easy to sleeve or not. My problem is that some of the wires have these bumps in the heat shrink. I was wondering what they are and if they are double wire things. If this is a double wire than how do I sleeve it? I already went on evga and got the mir so I cant return it. All help is much appreciated.

Does anyone have a Antec TPQ 1200 psu? is it hard to sleeve them? because it looks hard.

I have few cables that need sleeving. They are all bare and ugly, and these fans and cathodes have to be placed outside of the case (res and rad outside of the case). I know there are tools made for taking off connectors, but I don't want to buy them for just few wires. Would it be okay to just cut off the cable about 1" away from the connector, put the sleeve on it (obviously with 1" extra), pull the sleeve back a bit to expose the wires again, and then simply strip the tips and connect them with insulating tape? In theory it should work just fine, but will this cause any problems with the flow of electricity?

Maxfinder sells sleeving extensions that match my color preferences down to the tee, but I've never heard of them and they don't sell anywhere else outside of FrozenCPU.. Anyone have them before? They are more expensive than other name brands like Bitfenix and Nzxt cables. I'm looking to buy sleeves for my 24pin, 2 6-pin GPU slots, and my CPU power. Each extension is 25cm, and the total will be $65 Any reason I shouldn't go for sleeving? Or is there a better place to look at sleeving than FrozenCPU? Here's a link to the Cables I'm thinking of getting, 6pin (x2) 25cm 12.99 24-pin 25cm 19.99 8-pin 25cm 12.99 Will this cause an uncontrollable rats nest in an h440? Anything you guys recommend will go better with my Blue and Black h440?

Hi guys, I don't know much about cable sleeving but I would like to sleeve my pc's cables. I wanted to know if it was possible to make custom sleeving on non-modular PSU. I currently have a Corsair TX750 (http://images.hardwarecanucks.com/image/skymtl/PSU_review/TX750/CORSAIR-9.jpg) and I was not really planning on changing it. Also I wanted to know what are good starting points to know more about custom sleeving (where to buy stuff and tutorials). Thanks in advance.

Questions regarding custom length PSU cables and sleeving.
Shaqalac posted a topic in Cases and Mods
Hi LTT. I'm about to some custom heatshrinkless sleeving for my main rig and NAS but I do have some questions before I start to order. I'm not sure whether you need this information or not but my main rig has the Corsair TX650V2 and my NAS has the SilverStone ST45SF-G. I'll most likely order from MDPC as I've only heard good about them but I've also been looking at Lutro0 Customs, which raised even more questions. The sleeve will be ordered from MDPC, my questions are really more about the wires and tools. Obviously the Corsair PSU is a non-modular PSU, so do I want to make custom length cables longer than the stock cables I'll have to solder some new cables to the PSU itself. MDPC doesn't sell any wire so I headed straight for Lutro0 to see what he has and he has a few options. Which is the one to get for my Corsair and SilverStone PSU? As far as I can see from the 6-pin PCI-E connector from the SilveStone PSU it uses 18AWG cables. Now that the wire type is sorted out I need a tool to crimp the contacts on. Will the MDPC Crimping-tool do the job no matter what wire type I end up buying, or should I order a die replacement with the wires? I tried to calculate how much sleeving I'd need for the whole SilverStone job. Shopping cart for NAS: 1x Heatshrink SATA - ANTHRACITE 3,19 Euro 1x Pin-Remover by MOLEX - The Original 16,54 Euro 2x Sleeve SMALL - BLACK 14,28 Euro 1x MDPC Crimping-Tool - 6th Anniversary 39,15 Euro TL;DR: Questions about wires and cables. What wire type should I use for my Corsair and SilverStone PSU? http://lutro0-customs.com/collections/custom-wire Depending on the choice of wire, do I need a die replacement or is the MDPC Crimping-tool good enough as it is. Cheers Shaqalac. -
Well, it has to be modular. About 750W (±50W). I want to go for heatshrinkless sleeving, but I am open to switch to heatshrink sleeving if it helps somehow. I've seen Corsairs 24pin cables, and they look very hard to sleeve, because it is split up somehow, and there are 2 cables going into one pin on the motherboard side. Is there anything better than that? I've looked into EVGA powersupplies but they seem to have a similar problem. Hope you can help me somehow
-
Ohkay so I am looking into doing custom individual wire sleeving on my corsair rm1000 power supply. The included modular cables are actually a flat low profile cable for every cable but I assume I should be able to split them apart rather easily if not please tell me. My other question is color and where to buy I would like to do half uv reactive neon blue and half matte black or gray/white sleeving too match the rest of my build. If you guys have any suggestions for a different color or anything throw them at me. I also would like to sleeve my fans headers as well if possible but I do not know what gauge of sleeving would work best for that. I believe the length of my 24 pin connector is 610 mm (14,640 mm) and my 8 pin is 650 (5,200 mm)and my 4 pcie cables (6+2) is 750 mm (24,000 mm total length). So without doing my molex connectors that will be 43,840 mm which we can just round to about 50 meters so i'm thinking around 25 meters of one color and 25 of the other color or about 75 feet give or take of each. My next question is fastening should I only use heat shrink or should I also use the zip tie trick on top of the heat shrink also if there are any heat shrinks you can recommend (for color and quality) give me some suggestions hopefully. Also I would love to hear some of your experiences and even see some of the sleeving you all have done.

Hello Guys, this is gonna be a long one. So after posting my build (Obsidian 1.0) and being super proud of it, I looked at the Build Of The Week thread, that was a mistake. The pure awesomeness of those systems has driven me to do better myself, I doubt I'll ever get it as good as those guys, but damn I can try. The first things I decided to do was ditch my air cooler and colour-coordinate my system (Obsidian 1.1), but the real significant mod I want to do is cable sleeving (Obsidian 1.2). I've spent the last week researching the hell out of it and I'm finally convinced someone with no experience can do it. People with actual experience, I'm requesting you go over my preparation process to make sure it make's sense and that the numbers are correct. I've been asking some questions on LTT, but decided to start my own thread so I wouldn't be taking over anybody else's. From what I've learned it seems that Lutro0-Customs is the best sleever out there and his FAQ and youtube channel are my primary source for instruction. And most people say Million Dollar PC (MDPC-X) is the best sleeving material source there is, they are in Germany, so shipping won't be free, but it seems very reasonable and they provide lots of options and nobody has said anything bad about it's owner, Nils. However they are not the only choice, you can also get Paracord from Lutro-0 Customs, have Lutro-0 do it for you entirely (obviously expensive) or you can get extensions which are machined large-scale, so they'll be lesser quality and you'll have to deal with managing longer cables, but they're fast and simple. The best selection I've seen for extensions (in Canada) is Memory Express and I've heard a few people recommend BitFenix if you do go the pre-done extension route. You can see my Obsidian 1.0 specs and pictures here. My Obsidian 1.1 upgrade will be done this spring and consists of cooling and aesthetic upgrades: Replacing the quality but ugly Noctua NH-D14 with Swiftech H320 All-In-One liquid cooling Replacing the stock Swiftech Helix fans with Cougar Vortex fans Replacing the 750D's stock fans with Cougar Vortex fans Adding NZXT LED lighting (orange) My Obsidian 1.2 upgrade will be the sleeving upgrade, but requires more planning. Following Lutro-0's advice in his FAQ and some random guessing, here is the process I came up with, please make sure I'm doing this right. PSU: First I decided to replace my semi-modular PSU with a fully-modular PSU. I believe this will make the sleeving process much easier, though I have seen some people say working with a non-modular PSU is easier, but that it requires opening the casing, something I am not willing to do. Since I've has such good experience with Corsair, I decided to go with the AX-860. As an added bonus this will mean I can continue to keep the old PSU in my computer and have it functional during the actual sleeving, which will be a multi-day process. What method/sleeve do I use? I decided after watching all of Lutro0's guides to go with the MDPC (plastic) heatshrinkless method. This should deliver a real nice look with the added bonus of not having to line up all the heatshrink perfectly. I also considered paracord but it didn't have all of the options I wanted so I decided to go with MDPC. Colour Scheme: I've decided to with black as my main colour and orange as my accent. I hadn't originally planned on modding or colour-coordinating when I originally built the system, so I kind of have to work with what I have, namely black components. For the sleeving I've seen lots of looks and decided that I would make each cable 75% black with an orange stripe offset from the centre. The pattern i would use for the 24-pin: How much sleeving do I need? I used the PSU's datasheet to determine the length of the cables I intended to sleeve. I broke the sleeving into the three different categories as named by MDPC: Small Sleeve, for individual wires. The 24-Pin, EPS, PCI-E, Molex and Sata power cables. Black Orange Sata Data Sleeve. Black Orange USB Sleeve. For small wires such as the internal USB, front-panel and audio cables. Black Then I multiplied the number of each cable by the length of the cable by the number of wires I wanted black and the number I wanted orange like so: (Number of cables) x (length of cable in mm) x (number of black wires in cable) Example: 24 Pin connector = (1 cable) x (610 mm) x (18 black wires) = 10.98 meters of black sleeving I've added a 25% safety margin to each total, I'm hoping that is enough but if someone with experience would like to correct me, I would be thankful. I have also decided to buy heatshrink pre-cut, so I took the number of connections I had (120) and added a 75% safety margin on those for a total of at least 210. You'll also need some tools to complete all this. If you already have some of them then it will be cheaper for you, but this is what my price estimate came out to: And here is the actual cart from MDPC: Note that since I'm ordering from Canada I don't have to pay the 19% VAT (tax?) so the cost is lower than what is shown on their website by default as Nils details here. Shipping is also better then I thought it would be. Note that I have not placed the order yet as I'm waiting until summer to do this upgrade and I want to hear back from some pro's to make sure I'm doing it right. Thanks for reading that long-ass post and I welcome any advice or questions.
