The best Of the best Wheel+Shifter+Pedal Combo under 350$? the pedals have to have a clutch, and the shifter has to be an H shifter. You can go ham with everything else. Been looking at a g29/920 and i think their ok, but i wanna ask the community if they have anything better to offer. Thanks for reading and hopefully you can help me out

Hello, I am Mechanical Design Engineer working on Softwares like Solidworks,Catia and Ansys. My current pc specification is not suitable for CAD.S o iam planning to upgrade to workstation grade. Planned minimum specification: 1.cpu - ryzen 5 1600x 2.gpu - quadro p620 or p600. 1.I am in doubt that the above configuration will be enough for CAD use or not? 2.Also should i give preference to GPU and RAM more than CPU? 3.If added Will SSD be meaningful for my workstation? Best regards, Shriram

Is there a pc software, free or paid that can be used as a 3D modelling tool AND to simulate live physics? Lets just say its like besiege but Autodesk in it. Im not talking about just pics or just shows some values, I mean like what I modelled will really move? EDIT: When I say physics, I meant realistic physics that can be used in real world applications or atleast very very close to real life physics

Basically title, just wondering what everyone thinks about it. I know VR is not perfected yet for full motion games, but what about sims, flying, driving, ect.? Personally it changed how I looked at them, from a, I can see why you love this game, view point, to b, I am in love with sim racing, view point. Also, price point, does it still make sense to buy a two or three monitor setup for sims when VR is not only less expensive , especially setup wise, but also seems more immersive? Just wondering your thoughts, you faceless masses.

As a CG artist I do a lot of work in Maya. In 3d software, you often cache simulations of fluids, cloth, etc. When playing back the scene with a cached simulation, there is often a great deal of lag and latency. Could saving the cache to an Optame drive reduce this lag/latency?

Hello, I do a variety of different work, across several different platforms. I am having an extremely difficult time selecting a CPU for a workstation. I am considering the following CPU's: i9 7900X, i9 7920X, and AMD 1950X. i9 7900X ($900 USD) 10 core / 20 thread Base Clock: 3.3 GHz Turbo Clock: 4.3 - 4.5 GHz i9 7920X ($1100 USD) 12 core / 24 thread Base Clock: 2.9 GHz Turbo Clock: 4.3 - 4.5 GHz AMD 1950X ($800 USD) 16 core / 32 thread Base Clock: 3.4 GHz Turbo Clock: 4.0 GHz I do intend on overclocking the CPU's slightly to allow for better and more responsive performance. Daily Software SolidWorks Siemens NX Ansys COMSOL Multiphysics MATLAB (Usually used for in-depth theoretical simulations) 3ds Max (VRay, Arnold, and Octane) Photoshop AGI SystemsToolKit (AGI STK) Revit (Occasionally but not too often) Machine Learning Applications (Occasionally but not too often) My Issue: Most CAD programs are single core and benefit very little from additional cores. Thus in terms of CAD usability and performance a higher single core click speed is preferred. However, for simulation and analysis (thermal, fluid, and stress) often benefits from multiple cores, as does rendering. I am having trouble deciding which CPU I should select since i9 7900X offers great CAD performance while Threadripper 1950X has excellent simulation and rendering performance. Some rendering can be offloaded or used in conjunction with a GPU reducing render times. The Build CPU: Unknown (i9 or Threadripper) GPU: GTX 1080 Ti or XP RAM: 64 GB @ 3000 MHz SSD (for applications) HDD (for storage) Which CPU should I get? I think most of my time is spent doing CAD related work and simulations while they can take on the order of 1-2 days can possible be reduced to under 24h with the increased core count over my current system. Thanks for any advice!

Hey all, so I've just started a PhD in theoretical physics and was planning on building a computer for number crunching. I'm not sure what type of processor to get, or how important fast ram is. I'm wondering if having more cores will help do many different calculations at the same time, or if having fewer cores but faster ones is better. I also understand that more ram is better in this case, but I was unsure as to the importance of it's speed. Lastly, because I wont be gaming on this the graphics card doesn't need to be great but I love having multiple screens. If anyone has any experience it would be appreciated. If you want more specifics I'm going to be doing a lot of numerical integration, solving high order polynomials, diagonalizing massive matrices, and probably using mathematica too.

Hi, First of all thanks a lot, you guys are doing a great job, taking out time from your busy schedule and helping us. Thanks a lot. I am from India and I am a 3d artist, I specialize in shading, rendering and simulation works. I mostly use softwares like Houdini Fx, Autodesk Maya, PF track and Realflow. I have no idea if these softwares use multitreads or not. So, Pleas help me build a workstation best suited for these works. 1) My budget is Rs. 1,50,000, in Indian Currency and I might consider spending another Rs. 50,000, So please consider performance over money. But not over Rs. 2,00,000. 2) As specified earlier I mostly use Houdini Fx, Autodesk Maya, NukeX, Realflow, PF Track and my major concern is 3d works like rendering, shading, video editing and simulation. 3) I would like to purchase a 24" or 23" Monitor, just one monitor now, but I am sure to upgrade it to at-least two monitors later. I would prefer good quality monitors and true color values. 4) I am building a new system from scratch so I will be requiring Keyboards, Mouse, etc., I wont require an OS, so please do not include its cost. And also I don't require any speakers, so please exclude it as well. 5) Please suggest a good UPS because the UPS I currently have sucks, If any rendering or heavy simulation works are going on and I have a power cut, my system immediately shuts down. 6) I would really prefer a good cooling system as I do not have Air Conditioning in my place and India is quite hot almost for the whole year. 7) I would really like atleast a 64 GB RAM supported Motherboard and would also prefer single sticks 16 GB RAMs so that I can give my motherboard full resources. Once again, Thank you guys.

Is there a Similar game to Euro Truck Simulator that is free?

I am trying to build my own simulation cockpit that somewhat represents a real driving experience. Right now i have a really cheap, homemade stand that wobbles a lot but works well for my Logitech G27. I wanted to know if anyone else had any ideas or pictures for builds that are cheap and very realistic. I mainly play games like euro truck simulator 2 and beamng.drive. Thank You.

So me and my father got into this conversation a while ago, I just wanted to share this idea that fascinated me. The ultimate game in my eyes is a realistic driving/racing game where the WHOLE USA is your playground. I'm not talking like just main roads like hoghways, I'm talking EVERY road. It would be so cool to drive to my house, or go offroading at some cool trails or drifting the streets that you grew up on. The makers of the game could use lasers to scan every road like in Assetto Corsa, using cars like Google Earth with mounted lasers to get every little bump or pothole, make it as realistic as possible. But then my father and I got into the conversation of the sheer size of files. We talked about how they would split the games into different games, or possible starting off one place and have DLC whenever you want to explore a new state or section of the United States. There would be loads of customization for vehicles as well. It will probably never happen because of the time, money, and space it would take to get that much info crammed into a video game. But it would be so fucking awesome to see it actually happen. I want your guys thoughts and ideas to go off on this too, as I love to talk about stuff like this!

Hello, As I am going into 6th form (Collage) I am considering on purchasing a new laptop. My budget is around 3,000 Pounds (4650.45 US Dollars) and I am looking for a Laptop that quite literally packs a punch but I don't know which one to go for. I do a ton of Java, HTML and CSS coding , a lot of photoshop, I do game a lot on my currently laptop ( Very CPU & GPU intensive games like Witch 3 MGS 5 and Far Cry 4), I render 4K photos on my current laptop, I am a video creator (creating animated videos and short clips for fun). I also would like it to be really thin. So which laptop should I get!!! Thanks, Lewis

Hello there, I want to make a quick thread asking you guys for help with my triple monitor setup. Currently i have 1 main monitor which is a BenQ 23 inch monitor. And a few days back i bought 2 identical other monitors which are LG's 21.5 Inch. Now i love tripple monitor setup in the first place and i would personally never want to go back to 1 monitor as i was stuck with having only 1 after completing building my gaming rig (upgraded from laptop which had 1 monitor aside which is now my main). Now the obvious question: How would i be able to play ETS2 and ETS2MP (mod) without having screen diffrences ingame. i know diffrend sized monitors asks for difficulties when it comes to gaming as it is only greatly compatible with workflow. But is there any option for me not having to swap my main monitor? I don't play games only, but i also make great use of all three monitors while working on my desktop or when normal multitasking. I have surely multitasked my way into google's search engine to only find out i can't seem to find any proper answer to my problem. The link below is a screenshot taken by Gyazo's screenshot engine to specify my setup. Fairly New when it comes to PC gaming... So I just seen it on Steam for $2.59.. And was just wondering (For people that have played it) is it worth it? Expansions?

So I recently acquired Project Cars and dabbled a little in it. A friend of mine decides to tell me about the "Power Play" update in Elite Dangerous which adds a lot of content, but none of which will really get me playing again. I respond with " I need to be able to get out of my space ship". He responds well racing sims are the same. I continue to explain that my reason behind stating that is because Elite Dangerous puts you in a position of exploration and many more roles than just flying a ship. You bounty hunt, trade, and explore. A racing sim has fewer objectives/roles(just one) which justifies why you don't get out of your car. You're playing to experience the driving alone. Maybe I'm crazy.

Hello all, I just got a T flight HOTAS X and am looking for some fun games to use it with, I think I am going to buy Elite Dangerous tomorrow as that looks pretty cool. But what would your guys suggestions be?
